Not well. Had trouble getting it scheduled, due to problems with their slit-seeder( who I then found out was not their employee but a subcontractor). But they finally got it done late in September. Even with multiple and daily watering it didn't come up well in the fall. Their response was to be patient. So waited until spring. Again only minimal growth, sporadic with little bits coming up in most areas but not much - maybe 20% tops. Their response was to be "puzzled" and look for someone else to blame. They finally settled on blaming my regular lawn fertilizing company saying they must have 'accidently put down an herbicide or pre-emergent crab grass killer'. So, even though it was the ideal time to do something to remedy it in the spring they offered no recourse. Since other landscapers were busy with other jobs by this time, and getting no help from Excel, I manually dethatched and reseeded as best I could the larger areas of dead grass so to have something filling them in while conditions were still ok. It was several days of hard work but my seeding actually came up pretty well. And with fertilizing by my regular source the lawn in filling in but will need some additional but more modest efforts in the late summer. Now, my lawn fertilization company is sure they only applied starter fertilizer after the seeding both in the fall and in the spring. And I was here both times, we discussed it before they started, and I'm as sure as I can be that they're right. Besides, if they had put something down to kill or prevent emergence how would any of the slit-seeding come up? More importantly, how would any of what I seeded have come up? I've talked with several landscapers and the opinion is that it could have been bad seed but, more likely, improper depth of planting. I.e. most likely the fault of the seeding contractor. I've been exceedingly patient and given Excellawn every chance and I've paid them thousands of dollars. But, all I've gotten from them are attempts to shift the blame and no offer to stand behind their work. That's extremely unprofessional, inexcusable and a warning to anyone else but at my great expense.
Description of Work: Had a lawn with pock-marked areas of dead grass due to the extremely dry summer we had in 2012. They aerated, fertilized and slit-reseeded approx. 2 acres.
