When our Frigidaire refrigerator (9 months old, purchased at Lowes) suddenly stopped working on a Sunday, I went to the Frigidaire warranty service web site and found a short list of companies who provided warranty service. Because none of these companies answered their phones on Sundays, I had to wait until Monday to find anyone who would answer their phone. First, I tried the few service companies who had A ratings on Angies List. Unfortunately, none of them did warranty work - or they couldn't come to see us for at least a week. I then contacted Frigidaire directly by phone and had a rather dismal experience with them. Finally, I decided to contact the Lowes warranty department (I should have started with Lowes). The Lowes process involves them making the appointment for me with one of the factory approved service companies. The first company they suggested had several very bad reviews on Angies list... (in fact, most of the factory approved service companies had bad ratings) - so I asked Lowes if I could have an appointment with a different company. Brummel Installers was next on Lowes' list in terms of being able to come sooner than 5-6 days later. Since Brummel Installers only had one bad review on Angies - and the fact that they could come promptly - I decided to take a leap of faith. Lowes gave me an appointment window of 12pm-5pm the next day (Tuesday). About one hour after my call to Lowes Service, a woman from Brummel Installers called me directly to confirm the appointment and she narrowed their arrival window to 12pm-2pm. This was a very nice improvement in the process already! The Brummel serviceman arrived at 1pm on Tuesday in a professional looking truck. He was friendly, courteous and professional in appearance and demeanor. It was clear that he was a seasoned professional and knew what he was doing. We proceeded to pull the refrigerator out to check the wall plug (the unit was too big for me to move myself) - and he immediately realized that the problem was with the outlet - not the refrigerator! Rather than simply tell me to go find an electrician... he cheerfully proceeded to dismantle and test this outlet and two other nearby outlets in the circuit - and then spent an additional 15 minutes testing all the circuit breakers at our main elec panel. Together, after approximately 30-40 total minutes of testing, pondering and scouting around the wiring in our basement, we determined that the problem was clearly something he and I could not solve ourselves. Throughout this experience, he was genuinely interested in helping to determine the cause of our problem - even though it didn't have anything to do with the appliance itself. He shared a few of his experiences with similar issues - in the interest of giving me more info for the electrician I would have to hire to work from. I honestly think the Brummel service man was disappointed that he couldn't solve the electrical problem (even though that really didn't fall under the unbrella of what his job requires). In the process, I mentioned that the handle on our freezer drawer was a little loose. The service man from Brummel cheerfully tightened that while he was here. At the end, I simply had to sign the appointment paperwork (no money was charged). He sincerley wished me well and was on his way. I called a neighbor electrician who was able to determine that the problem was with a ground fault outlet that protects the circuit for our refrigerator.
Description of Work: Service call was arranged via Lowes appliance warranty service center, Brummel came to check our refrigerator that had no power only to discover that the problem was with our electrical outlet instead. No cost was incurred as the appliance was still under warranty. Advice: if you purchased your appliance from Lowes and it is still under warranty, contact Lowes first before contacting the manufacturer or service companies directly. My experience with Frigidaire customer service was less than helpful - and my direct calls to service companies were equally unproductive or worse. Don't let one bad review stop you from considering Brummel Installers. I took a risk and am glad I did. My detailed description of my experience describes why I am giving Brummel Installers an A rating. p.s. if the power to your appliance completely disappears and the circuit breaker isn't tripped, look for a ground fault outlet to be the problem.

On 7 Jan the motor in my washing machine burned out. Brummels sent a technician one week later to spend 5 minutes determining that I was right in saying that the motor had burned out. They did not have a motor in stock so they had to order one from out of State. One week later the motor arrived and was installed. The washer still did not work because according to the technician the motor burning out had caused the timer and a capacitor to burn out. The parts had to be ordered from Texas (Mexico?). One week later it was finally repaired. As an appliance service they should have had parts on hand or at least available in the industrial mid-west. If one problem commonly causes another they should order all the parts at the same time.
Description of Work: Replace washing machine motor, timer, and capacitor.
