Ray was prompt and professional, arriving at exactly 2:00, which is when he said to expect him. I had told him what needed to be done and he went right to work. He ran into a few glitches replacing the door locks but worked through them fine. His assistant boxed the old locks up so we could use them again, as this was a rental house. When he diagnosed that the problem with the kitchen light not working was that the fixture had gone bad, my wife jumped in the car and drove to the closest Home Depot to get a replacement. While she was gone, Ray and his assistant sat in their truck. As soon as she returned with the new light, they put it in and it works fine. They were there for a total of 1 hour and 50 minutes, and charged me $120 for the job. Compared to the handyman I usually use, that seemed really steep, especially considering he sat in the truck for at least 30 minutes making phone calls. I know he needed to be paid for his time even while sitting in the truck, but I wonder if perhaps I was paying for the time of both of them. I didn't expect an assistant, nor was one really necessary. He also only lives about three miles from the house, so i don't think he was hitting me for travel time. He is a really nice guy, did sound work, and if you think his rate is fair, you should use him.

Overall, things have gone very well thusfar, and I am confident enough in his abilities and approach to ask him to return when something else arises.
