The service was fine - the billing was not. They charge travel time but don't mention that anywhere. When I called to complain about the bill (had to call twice to get a call back) I was told that *I* was being unreasonable for not just paying $180+ for travel time to a city that the website says they service. Can't recommend and I will go elsewhere in the future.v

Just replaced a shower valve and charged over $900 and stated 4 hours work, but actually spent at least 1.5 hours outdoor phone in the vehicle. I reported it to his manager on the employee behaviors, and asked for $200 cut, but they kept the same billing. Never hire this plumber !

I booked someone to come do maintenance on our boiler and radiators. They gave me a 4 hour window, so I took half a day off work. They didn't come. When I called the office, they said that the worker had to take the day off work, and no one had thought to call me. I asked if they could come on a weekend on an evening so I didn't have to take more time off work, and they said no. I tried to book something at 8am but they couldn't accommodate the days that worked for me. They were not apologetic.

Gas company detected a likely gas leak in a line leading to the dryer, capped the line and suggested a line and shutoff valve replacement. Hutzel came spent maybe 10 minutes looking and the line and then simply turned the gas line back on and said they couldn't detect a leak so it was fine. Gas continued to leak, contacted them and was told they didn't believe it was the line and probably the dryer. Hired other professionals to come in and do the job right and the gas leak is gone.

Furnace stopped working as the fan would no longer run. Called Hutzel on Friday and they sent someone over quickly and diagnosed the problem as a bad motor that would cost $1200 plus labor to fix. I told them to go ahead but a little while later they call and told me that they couldn’t get the part until Monday. I was away when the technician diagnosed the problem but when I returned home Friday night I noticed the motor controller has been removed from my house. I thought that was strange since they told me the motor was bad so why would the technician take the motor controller. Meanwhile, I had to borrow a bunch of space heaters to keep my house tolerable. On Saturday morning I did some research and found out that the controller has a common failure where a themistor part burns out. For a temporary fix this part can be replaced with just a wire to get the furnace up and running again. Since the controller was gone I had no way to determine if that was the furnace issue. On Monday morning I called and said I wanted my controller back. They said they were very busy and couldn’t get anyone out to my house that day to return it so I drove across town to get it back. As soon as they handed it to me I realized it had the bad themistor. I took it home, put in the wire jumper and had my heat going again. I ordered a new themistor ($10 for 2) on the internet. Not long afterward the technician showed up at my house to replace the motor. I was surprised he showed up since I had been told they were too busy to send anyone that day. When I explained what I’d discovered the technician said they don’t repair controllers. They only replace the entire motor and controller which can’t be purchased separately. I’m disappointed that Hutzel couldn’t fix this problem when they first came out since this is a common problem with an inexpensive fix. Instead I had to deal with space heaters and do the furnace repair myself.

They did an excellent job; couldn't ask for better service! Just do not like that a boiler system cost is about double the cost of a conventional furnace. Our cost: $5,600.00 for a boiler furnace to heat a 3-bedroom ranch; others came in at a lower price, but they didn't have an excellent rating.

They were fine with fixing it, it was just a matter of changing a little something which took like ten fifteen minutes a little something I don't know what to call it causing the whistling thing and that change took maybe fifteen minutes it was quick. As I said they're very experienced and they're good but I think they over charge way too much.

My work order was lost by the office, I received a call on the original date of service asking what service I needed performed and if I still wanted them to come out. I said yes and they sent out a plumber that afternoon to look at my main sewer drain line. While he was over he noticed an uncapped gas line that he said he would cap, but he didn't have the parts in his van. He did not have the correct parts for the main shutoff either and had to come back the following week. The following week the plumber came back early the day of service and changed the main shutoff valve as well as capped the unused gas line. He did not replace the exterior faucet as originally requested but that can be done in the spring time. I didn't receive a bill until 2 weeks after the service, on which there charges for labor for both days even though no work was done on the first day due to missing parts, as well as a $45 travel charge (assuming this is standard) to come out to my area which is 20 mins away. Those charges were a little excessive, but the work that was done was of good quality.

I was very impressed! The 2 men put carpet liners all along the stairs and took great care! The whole process of removing the old unit and putting in a new one took about 2 hours. I have not had this good of an experience in a long time! They knew what they were doing and did a fantastic job with this difficult install.  I would recommend them to others!

The installation itself went fine. It took all of 5 minutes. Now the $93 dollar bill for 5 minutes and the 5 minute drive to my house from their headquarters was a bit excessive but it is standard with other companies.

That being said, my issue occurred after the bill was "paid". I called and paid the bill on the 25th of June. I requested the receipt be emailed to me. On August 6th, I received an invoice stating that the bill had not been paid and was coming up to 60 days. I called on the 7th and was transferred to their business office. After leaving two messages, I finally talked to Nels. When I spoke with Nels, he said he had not checked his messages yet, even though it was 3pm. He told me to email him the copy of the receipt that I have and I did. I immediately followed up with another email asking for confirmation that this has been taken care of. It is now August 11th and I have no confirmation or conversation with anyone from Hutzel.

While the quality of their work is very good, their business practices are abhorrent. This individual doesnt seem to care about the customers or fixing very serious billing issues that could affect customer credit. I will continue to call them, but the lack of professionalism and communication with the handling of this issue will make me hesitate on calling them in the future. As of 8/11 at 2:30pm, this still has not been corrected.

They are excellent. We chose them as we weren't familiar with the other one. I would consider using them in the future.
