I had a horrendous paint job done by a local hack who did super on interior but did not know what he was doing when he said he can do exterior, too. It failed in 6 months. So I waited almost five years to write this review to see how it would hold up. So far so great! They did an excellent job of prep which in my case was scraping down to bare cedar clapboards and even indulged my anxiety and primed the 50 year old galvanized nail heads which also got scraped of course. They got me in touch with a contractor who did some wood repair quickly (although I have not had as much luck getting them back to do other stuff, guess Clarke had the magic touch there). Joe did most of the work back then on my house and he was excellent. He stayed on it till it was done, no disappearing acts. I recommended Clarke to a neighbor for interior work and they liked them too.

I was thinking of them but I have used Serv Pro before, so I used them instead. They were very nice when they was down here doing the quote.

Never Called or emailed back, Perhaps was not multiple $1000's so lacked interest or ability to say too busy, etc.

They did an amazing job. Our home looks brand new now! Very good attention to detail and did a good job cleaning up after themselves. They got the job done on time.

Excellent! I'd bought a beautiful slab French door last year from Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and painted it this past winter, but had difficulty finding someone to install it. After doing a lot of research, I found that installing a slab door requires a high degree of carpentry skill. I got David's name from my aunt - he has done some work for her. He came by on 08/13/15 with his assistant Seth to look at the job. The installation was complicated by the fact that the French door is a true exterior door - 1-3/4' thick, whereas the original back door was 1-5/8" thick. After discussing two approaches to adjust for the great thickness, we went with my approach of trimming the door stop by 3/8" so that the door would sit completely within the frame. We arranged to do the work on 08/19/15. The work took a couple hours. He removed a lock remnant from the previous owners from the door frame. He did say candidly that he was not a finish carpenter, so I had to fill the spot where the lock remnant had been with wood putty, and also fill the area on the frame where the bolt lock had been on the original door, but I was fine with that. I do some DIY work, but I know my limitations - installing an exterior door is one of them. When they were done, David and Seth moved the original door to my cellar per my request - I may reuse it in the future. David and Seth came back the next morning after I had chance to paint the raw wood that was revealed by the trimming. They quickly reinstalled the weather stripping, and we settled up. The $125 price was a bargain - the fellow I know at Home Depot's door desk once told me that $500-600 is a normal price for slab door installation. I've lived with door for a month now, and it still moves and locks easily. It is very nice having more sunshine in my kitchen. I'll appreciate it even more when winter arrives and the kitchen is both warm and sunny. David and his assistant Seth were friendly and down to earth, and I felt very comfortable with them in my house, and that's important too.

The work was top quality. I don't know what else to say. The crew was very clean and respectful of the property. They cleaned up so well after themselves that except for the "new house & garage" you'd never know anyone had worked there.

They were great to work with and very accommodating. The painter was incredibly friendly and worked daily until it was done. There was some touch up needed on the foundation when they finished, but we weren't too bothered by it. We're having them back this summer for more painting.

After messaging via Angie's list, Scott, one of the owners messaged back. We were able to meet one week later for an estimate. He was on time. He was very thorough, prepared, polite and professional. He emailed me back a proposal within 3 days and we were able to start the work within 5 days. We were not in a hurry but the season allows for them to do smaller indoor jobs sooner than later. The painters arrived as scheduled and worked diligently and non-obtrusively while we were home (short periods). I was home ill day 2 and they were quiet. At the end of the day, things were picked up and out of the way. The quality of the work was excellent and we are very pleased with the end result. The total time was 4 days. We bought our own paint and based on recommendations, we purchased more paint then necessary. We understand that they didn't want to run out and wanted to make sure that colors matched should we have run out but I am disappointed that we now have 2 gallons of unopened paint. We might have the exterior of the house painted in the fall and will definitely plan to ask for an estimate from Clarke Painting with a preference towards them.

It was an excellent experience. They were not the cheapest but they delivered exactly what they promised and the work was great at the end. It was exactly what we agreed to. There was no bickering over what was included or not. It was really a good experience.

I was impressed with the responsiveness and professionalism. While we ended up going in a different direction with the project, I was satisfied with the experience and wouldn't hesitate to reach out to them again in the future.

No return calls - horrible customer service - would never use

Mr. Smith spent about an hour walking around the house to assess the job and even took pictures. He said he would email me the estimate at the beginning of the next week (Sept. 15th). I never heard from him again in spite of leaving him a phone message and emailing him at the end of the week of Sept. 22nd. It is now Oct. 6th. While he was quite pleasant when here and had been responsive about setting up our initial meeting, I have been quite surprised that he never got back to me.

Basically things went well. When we had questions or concerns, they were addressed promptly. All the painters were pleasant and professional. I reserved my review until a year passed because the quality of a paint job cannot be analyzed immediately. We did have to call Clarke back after a year for some touch-up work. They responded promptly and took care of the areas of concern.

I called Clarke Painting and left a voicemail. I got a return call the next business day from Scott. He was very professional and informative with any questions I had at the time. We made an appointment that worked for both of us. The day before the appointment was scheduled I received an email from Clarke Painting informing me that they had won on a bid for a big job which would take up their schedule for the rest of the season. and they thanked me for my interest and that was that, I thought they would have at the very least followed up with a phone call to ask if we were interested in scheduling something for the following spring just as a courtesy. I was a bit disappointed. Oh well!

They were very good. They communicated very well in terms of getting things set up. They were very responsive that way. Their workers were very thoughtful and did good work. It was in all a good experience. The quality of their work was excellent. They might be a little bit expensive than others. The price was just under $10000 because there was a fair amount of carpentry that had to be replaced. Their punctuality was very good.

From the initial contact through the 3 weeks that it took to finish the job these gentlemen were awesome! They were here on time every day, cleaned up every day and paid attention to the smallest details. The lift they used tore up the front lawn and they sent one of their landscapers to take care of it after the job was done. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a big job to get done well.

We searched for over 2 years to find the "right" painter for the very large job. We received quotes that varied from lowest to highest with a 30k difference. Some said days to do others said 4 months. None were listed on Angie's List. Then we found Clarke (thanks Angie's List). From the moment I contacted them to the finish, they are easy to do business with. The crew was very friendly, attentive, polite, and hard working. They did a fantastic job. Management is easy to get ahold of and prompt with any answers to questions. They are also very flexible to discuss "add ons" or changes to the original plan. Well worth the money. We are very meticulous and was a pleasure to find a crew that is also very meticulous and takes pride in their work. We will definitely now be using Clarke Painting for several inside painting projects we have coming up in the next year +. I HIGHLY recommend them.

Overall it went well. I'm fastidious about work done at our home and Clarke Painting met my expectations.

My real estate agent first contacted them about repainting the exterior of the house, which needed to be re-painted as a part of the sale of the house. There was quite a bit of confusion between them and the real estate agent, but these guys were utterly professional and able to get me a quote to ensure the sale went smoothly, even though they would have to wait several weeks for the weather to be nice enough to do the job. I then called to have them paint some of the rooms of the interior of the house before I moved in which they did, beautifully and very quickly. The exterior, which they came and started several weeks later was again, beautifully done, and the site, both inside and out was left wonderfully clean. I would absolutely use them again.

this was done to higher expectation than planned, wicked good results, this makes the house look so much better all around, we had mold growing on north side and Clarke removed all of this, loos great, its nice to see the original colors, they also did the concrete and stairs and those too look like new, Thanks Clarke for great work

Very professional, very friendly and knowledgeable . He was much higher than my other 2 estimates. I had estimates of $700, 1040 and $1400. Clarke was the $1400 estimate. Needless to say I used someone else. My general feeling is that this is a quality company....... But too expensive for what I wanted done.

My wife selected all the colors at Sherwin-Williams We had a crew of two Clarke Paint folks who took care enting and leaving every day. It took about 8 days start to finish to do this job for us. Clarke Paint folks took extreme care to cover our belongings and moved all other items to ensure no paint would hit those items, they really did not need to do this since they never spilled any, that part amazed me since I always get it all over the place when I paint Clarke Paint folks painted all trim while and the ceiling while, and once that was done in each space, they painted the walls. They started on the second floor and did the bathroom and two bedrooms ending with the hallway. Then they proceeded with doing the stairs doing form 2nd floor to 1st floor and while doing this repaired sheetrock screws that had popped out over time. We had been looking at our stairs that had shoe marks on the back boards for years and it was wicked nice to see just new white kick boards in support of the hard wood steps. And not a smidgen of paint on any of the hardwood and yes I looked and yes I would have said so. That is pleasing to our eyes. The part we had been struggling with over the past few years was closing a opening in the 2nd floor room that was by design meant to allow light in the living space but we just did not like that design, so we had it closed up a few years ago. Over time that opening had some breaks in the sheetrock taping. This opening is 12 feed off the ground and is at the top of our living room cathedral ceilings. These folks repaired the opening and taping and now your cannot see any hint it ever was there. The opening for us was a risk to our grandchildren when they stayed with us and slept in the small bedroom on the 2nd floor that but now that Clarke Paint has fixed and closed this in, we do not have that worry. The next major part of painting was doing the 1st floor. Again all trim and ceiling while was done to perfection followed by shaded of yellow my wife selected. What was nice was I asked them to do certain things a certain way and they did it, no problem, no grumbling, they just did it, that was nice. And when I asked for suggestions, thety offered their advise and ideas and yes I took it because in the end, it looked much better. They finished the 1st floor rooms and proceeded to do the stairs leading to the basement and the basement bedroom. These had desperate need of painting and after they were done, it was much brighter and just better to look at again white trim and ceiling white and walls of shade of yellow. After the job was done, Clarke Paint asked for a walkthrough and we did not need to make any adjustment or touch ups, nothing, it was perfect They cleaned up all materials and trash and left us with a new looking house that is cheery and just nice to be in, feels like a warm home. Thank you Clarke Paint for your caring and professionalism in delivering for us refreshed Spring like new home We now can have family and friends be in our home and be proud of the nice new look, am very heppy with the results Beryl and John Cole

They did an excellent job at a reasonable price and were very responsive to touch ups we wanted made. They cleaned up the work site and the work was completed in a short amount of time. I would definitely contact this company again if I needed painters.

We felt that they did a very good job and tried to keep us happy.
