We contacted Mainecoast Painting and Rodney Toothacre immediately returned our call. He came and estimated the job, recommended solutions to some of our problems (moldy walls in the basement, gaping holes in the wall from removed wood stoves), and gave us a quote within days. We scheduled the work and his crew showed up as planned. They covered all our furniture in plastic for protection and laid ground cloths everywhere. In terms of quality, we are delighted with how they patched the 2' x 2' holes in the wall so that we can't even detect where they were. Plus they carefully fixed all gouges and nail holes in the walls and ceiling so that everything was smooth and ready for painting. Then they painted it, professionally detailing around the stained wood trim on all the doors and windows. Just as they were finishing up, we were so pleased with the work that we asked them to paint yet another wall up an open stairway to the second floor. We agreed a change order and they knocked it out in short order too. Overall we are very satisfied with the quality and timeliness of the work. Plus Rodney either answers your call on the spot or returns it quickly. He clearly puts much effort into assuring good communication before, during, and even after the job.

My cathedral ceilings in a large kitchen, dining, living room area (all one room) were made with raw wood pine tongue and groove boards, with beams that were painted dark green. I wanted everything clean and white. The estimate was for two coats - but it ended up taking four coats and they had to try a couple of different kinds of paint to make it cover well. They never gave up and didn't complain. They took their time and did a wonderful, beautiful job. Even though the estimate was for only two coats, I wasn't charged more than the estimate. I couldn't be happier. In the spring they are going to paint the outside of my house.

This company was a pleasure to do business with. They were extremely careful and trustworthy, stepping around the garden, cleaning up any messes daily, arriving exactly when promised, and keeping me up to date on their progress and schedule on a daily basis. Their work is beautiful and of the highest quality. They always communicated promptly, usually within minutes. They stand by the quality of their work and were willing to adjust details along the way as the project took shape. The value for the money seems very reasonable; their quote for the job fell right into the ballpark of other quotes we received, and they did the job right, using the proper materials and not cutting corners. I am very satisfied and would recommend them to anyone.

Amazing company to work with! Rodney and his crew were very professional and worked extremely fast to get us moved into our house on time. There was a bit of an issue with the drywall in our bedroom and Rodney made sure it was handled in a timely manner all while he was on vacation. He is, not only prompt, efficient and detailed, but personable and warm in that old time Maine way. My husband and I moved back to Maine this winter from Arizona, where we had been perching for the past dozen years and Rodney was the first person we invited into our home to freshen up the condo we had just bought. Rodney made sure it was a thorough welcome by listening to what we wanted and needed and not just what we said. You can tell a business owner is top notch by the way in which his workers act when heâ  s not present. Every last person was way beyond helpful and dedicated to their task. Indeed, these guys almost never took a break. Listening to Rodneyâ  s people as they work, coaching and teaching one another as they solved angle, wall smoothing and edging issues for the most professional look was charming and soul brightening, not to mention rare, especially in the corner-cutting world of today. Weâ  ve never had the opportunity to observe such a well-tuned unit. It was a delight to have them in our home and thatâ  s saying much in little, as we were weary from the move and barely a foot into the state before we decided to paint the entire interior of our new (to us) home. With zero pressure, Rodney pointed out the places that needed the most attention (walls, trim and cupboards) and offered money saving tactics such as what could wait (inside of closets and cupboards and selected ceiling areas). What more can I say? Rodney and his guys are paint brush royalty.
