Met with builder 3-4 times prior to hiring for tear down/rebuild of one part of our house, to build another addition on another part of the house and complete siding and roofing of entire house. Told there would be 4 people working on house and would take 1 1/2 months to do. It took almost 3 1/2 months to complete with only 1-2 people working on our house(rarely 3, extremely rarely 4). Cigarette butts all around the grounds, trash and nails was left on the ground. They even brought an old metal mailbox and radio from a car and left it in the scrap pile. Also assured us all rough framing would be done to interior and exterior would be complete(siding/roofing etc.). Since this had been an issue in the past with a prior company we had hired not completing work we made sure the work would be complete on the exterior and all interior rough framing would be complete so all we needed to do was electrical/plumbing/insulation/drywall etc.. We were assured house would be complete on the exterior and interior would have all rough framing for walls done so we could take over from there. The trusses were not the right pitches because of poor planning on his part but expected us to change our house plans so he wouldn't have to spend more money building or buying the correct ones... After 3 1/2 months and very lackadaisical response from our builder to some major issues the house was finally at a point were we just wanted him out. Major leaks occurred during the build to which we called him and he did not respond. Existing foundation were hit with the excavator and he gave the go ahead to tear it down without asking us then wanted us to pay for it. The wet basement (which we were told would not occur any longer after he had his hired excavator dig down and place drainage) is worse than before. Screws are sticking out, holes are in the finish around the windows and were not sealed, our front door that never leaked before now leaks, walls are leaking. Damage to the existing house from improperly placed Ice and Water Shield on the roof was never fixed or cost reimbursed to us. Vents in the basement that are supposed to close during cold weather do not close. Porch decking that is supposed to be clipped on every joist is only clipped every other one. The list goes on and on and (to top it off) after we made our last payment we received another bill from him (for $4600.00) for work that he was supposed to do in the first place or damage from improperly done work by him. I would never use this company again and did take pictures of all damage done and shoddy work performed. He should be ashamed and embarrassed by his quality of work.
Description of Work: Hired this company to place an addition for a new bathroom, also to tear down kitchen/bathroom and rebuild, place siding on entire house and roof entire house. Also included drainage work around existing foundation.
