First we walked the property & discussed what was to be done in great detail (what needed to be raked, sticks needing picking up, etc) Upon our arrival to the proper approximately 2 days later, it seemed obvious that the agreed upon services had not been performed or that something had gone terribly wrong with our communications/expectations of what was to be done. As I said, we discussed raking the property completely, picking up fallen debris from trees, and brush hogging a grown up area off one side of our driveway. Save some sticks that were picked up here and there, the only area we could really tell had been touched was the area off of the drive. All of the scrub growth had been cut down, though some sticks and debris remained. The funny thing is that just last week a neighbor of mind (who is currently the person mowing the grass for us) asked me how I liked the job HE had done on the area just off of the driveway! He told me he cut down all of the scrub that that grown up there and did'nt I think it looked better!!!?? I have to tell you I didn't know what to think about it. After the initial poor lawn cleanup I called the owner. She told me that her husband & workers had gone out that day and that she really didn't spend much time there herself. She said her husband used a blower (not a rake) to remove the leave. I am personally very familiar with a blower as I have Stihl BR 600 Magnum backpack blower that I use to maintain my home on a 12 acrea parcel of land. She offered to take $50 off the price but I refused. I wanted to give this firm one more shot (after paying for the 1st visit in full) to "make it right" when doing the "spring cleaning". The cost was $250 for the spring cleaning (a very fair price I thougth) and they were to clean the house, do the windows, etc. They did a pretty decent job. I did find that the floors were not especially clean though and pointed it out. I guess that made them angry. They were scheduled to come to the proeprty each week at the turnover of guests happened to clean the house (a contract worth a fair amount of money). I happened to be there the day they were to arrive to do the first cleaning. They took one look at my car in the driveway and thought I had hired someone else (I guess). I was out back cleaning a patio set! Anyway, when I got home that evening after working all day and wondering why they didn't show up I checked my email to find a very upsetting email. Wait I'll copy into this text for you:"I went to clean today and when I went to pull in the driveway I see someone was already there and the garage door was open. It was my understanding you needed the house cleaned between June 21-23rd.Honestly I am not having a good feeling about our working relationship / arrangement. My gut tells me we are simply not the right fit. No hard feelings, just feel I'm not the right cleaning person for you.On my way home I picked up my mail and your check for the spring cleaning we did on Monday June 6th came and the additional $ for today's cleaning. I will send out a check tomorrow reimbursing you for today's cleaning.I will also enclose the garage key with the check."So that was that! I have my first guests arriving on Saturday and now I have to drive an hour and clean the property myself. don't know about you, but I don't think that is very professional. I would certainly never use this "company" again. When we pay good money for a service we should expect that the service be done. That's it.. . .pretty simple.
Description of Work: We own a lake front home that we rent out weekly to guests from all over the world. We hired this company to do many things for us. The first thing was the necessary spring cleanupy. Following that they were to do the "Spring Cleaning" for the home itself (basic home cleaning + wash windows). Then they were to come each week throughout the summe on turnover day between guests and ready the property for the new guest. We had discussed dock removal later in the season as well as other things.
