Fell for the "free" diagnostic. Told AAMCO I have an old car and recently trans slipping suddenly (not slow wear and tear); And that Lucus non-slip had it running temporarily, but there was a small leak at pan. Couldn't give me an estimate from symtoms so I was strung along with 168$ for further diagnostic. Then was told can't find problem until trans is taken out which is 700$ so might as well just get rebuilt, and may require more extensive part replacement, which of coarse it did. It turned out that every billable part in the transmission needed to be replaced. Phone conversations came straight from AAMCO sales dialog manual that they use to get the trans out. Job was completed very quickly and made it easy for me to get car back home quickly. HOWEVER; The next morning, car would not start. Battery had power, lights worked, but would not try to turn over. Called AAMCO and was told to check battery and maybe I could have it towed in. She said "it worked last night when you picked it up didn't it". Really? I didn't feel like getting ripped off more so I took it upon myself to fix it. It was a loose (not fully snapped together) terminal block connector on the wiring harness that I believe goes to the neutral safety switch. Once it snapped together the car started up and I've had no issues since then. I wouldn't be upset about an honest mistake that any mechanic could make, many things have to be taken apart and put back together to work on cars. But, it wasn't like AAMCO (or this girl) was trying to help me at all to figure out what could possibly cause my car not to start after getting my car home from a major repair that they just did. Dah. As if there no reason it would have had anything to do with that.

Description of Work: On our 2004 Lincoln the shifter sometimes would be stuck and would not go into gear. It may take a minute or so before it would work. I explained everything and told them I saw the fix on youtube. They fixed it, it worked for a couple weeks, and it is doing the same thing. I think they did a quick fix and reaped the bucks. It must be a tedious job for them not to take the time to do the correct fix. Another garage did the same thing and it still is not fixed. I hate taking the cars to get repaired because you can't find places that will fix it correctly, but they are there holding their hands out for the money. They have fixed my husbands truck on a couple things and those fixes were fine. We will not be taking our vehicles back to them. The service took place maybe a year or less ago. I just put a date in because I don't remember the exact date. The B for Professionalism was higher. They were nice in talking with us, but talk is cheap. It wasn't for us.

Description of Work: Complete transmission rebuild. Very professional and gave an accurate cost estimate although they did not give an accurate date they would complete the work. Work ran 3-4 days over the estimated time. I was always given a complete and detailed account of the status of the work when I called. Very courteous and professional.

It went very well. Kudo's to Manny. Manny is courteous, honest and professional. I think it was his demeanor that sold me on the service. He communicated, explained everything, and got the job done in the time he promised. My daughter is very pleased with the new trans and power steering pump. She says it is like a new vehicle.

5 or 6 hours later the car started. I called them and they suggested I go ahead and have it towed to the shop. They had the car 2 days and I never received a call or update. I called to see what was going on and they couldn't tell me what caused the car to not start before. I was out of my car a few days and wish I knew why they didn't call me. They didn't end up charging me anything since they couldn't determine the problem.
Description of Work: I called them because my car wouldn't start and explained everything it was doing.

Every thing went fine. I recommend everybody to them. I have been happy with them and see no reason to go to anybody but them. They do good work.
