Description of Work: In July, Mr Menges visited my house and made a number of excellent recommendations about the various projects I wanted to have done in my kitchen. In six months he has not responded with an estimate and sent one email to apologize. I guess he is too involved with larger jobs but he has made promises he doesn't keep.

Mike was supposed to give me an estimate based on the engineer's recommendations and plans from my addition. Four weeks went by with no estimate, then three phone messages went unreturned. The only reason I continued to call was that he had the plans for the addition that anyone else I hired would need. I can understand someone not wanting this job; it's difficult and the site is awkward. However, there was no indication that he did not want the work, and I wasted a month waiting for an estimate that never came. So I now have a verbal description of the problem for which I paid $250, and the problem remains. Not returning repeated phone messages is at best unprofessional.
Description of Work: I had a structural problem and a drainage problem that needed to be addressed. Mike came out and decided to bring in a structural engineer. The engineer came out, reviewed the situation, and made some recommendations.

We were very pleased with Shoreline and will definitely hire them for future projects. They were willing to work with some special requirements we gave them: we requested a specific brand of adjustable steel column instead of the locally manufactured brand they normally use, even though this resulted in some delay (their standard columns could have been available much sooner). This was a very sensitive, structural job; if they had done it wrong, our home could have collapsed. They worked in a very safe and professional manner. They cleaned everything up when they were done, including hauling away chunks of concrete they removed from our basement floor. They actually left our basement cleaner than they found it! And, they completed the job on time and exactly on budget.
Description of Work: They replaced several rotting and/or bowed wooden support columns that held up the center of our house with adjustable steel columns. To do this, they first had to dig five holes in our basement floor and pour concrete footings. They also sistered a broken joist, first jacking it up slightly to level our kitchen floor. They also repaired a slightly rotting portion of the stairs that lead into our basement, even though that wasn't part of the original contract.

Mike was very pleasant a professional. He came several hours early for the appointment, which was unusual, but I happened to be home and free so it was okay. He spent a lot of time talking to me about the different window products available and took notes on my questions for follow up. He spent some time showing me all his licensing, insurance and referral documents without me asking and seemed very organized. He left a message the next day and I called back, but several weeks later he hasn't returned my call. Cannot judge how he would have performed the work since he didn't follow up, but I am displeased that he did not have the courtesy to call back after having taken over an hour of my time for the initial consultation.
Description of Work: Mike came by to give an estimate on window replacement and new tile floor.
ShoreLine was recommended by a friend of ours and we were very happy with our first meeting with Mike Menges, the owner. We knew he was dedicated when he showed up on crutches at our second meeting even though he should have been at home off his sprained ankle. He knew we had that we had worked hard to arrange the time with all parties involved and didn't want to make us postpone it. Mike was great to work with. He was excellent with communication, exchanging emails or phone call daily if necessary to keep us informed of the progress. He even emailed some photos. We found him to be very trustworthy and honest, and he kept the place impeccably neat at all times so when we looked at it on the weekend, there were no leftover messes or things in the way. If there were any problems or questions that we had, he took care of them right away. He had to spend extra time on our project due to uncovering more rot. He did everything he could to make sure that we were pleased with the work.
Description of Work: Mike was our general contractor for a large portion of a major renovation on a 1948 house. He arranged for subcontractors or had his crew do the work on a multitude of items including replacing a roof on an addition, adding a soffit, total electrical replacement and new electric in unfinished second floor (rough-in only - no fixtures by request), total plumbing replacement including 2 new bathrooms in unfinished second floor (rough-in only, no fixtures), replacing rotted beams/sill plate in crawl space, building several new concrete support columns, adding additional framing on second floor including 3 closets, doorways and a master bath, finding and fixing a major leak due to improper roofing by previous owner, adding gutters and downspouts, removing a brick wall that was detaching from the house, new drywall for entire house, replacing several windows, replacing a portion of a rotted exterior wall including some siding, having a new heating and a/c system installed and much more.
