RC Duct Cleaning

My dryer wasn't working so well and since the dryer isn't that old I thought maybe the vent needed cleaning so I jumped on the Angie's List Big Deal. I called RC Duct Cleaning to set up an appt and had to leave a message. They called me back that same day and scheduled an appt for a week later. They were at my house exactly when they said they would be. They were quick, efficient, courteous, and respectful. Very, very professional. When they left though my dryer wasn't drying at all. I called them about it and they sent a guy back out to my house the next day. He fixed whatever was wrong (at no charge) and my dryer has never worked better. I highly recommend this company!!!

The company was very good about calling to remind me of the appt window and offering to reschedule if I needed. The service tech arrived within the window and introduced himself (Delano). I showed him were the dryer was and the external vent. He inquired about the status of the dryer and was I experiencing any difficulties. I was not and got it cleaned because I was concerned about any build-up and potential fire since I did not know how long it had been since it was last cleaned (I rent.) Delano was very good about bringing his gear through the house to go out to the patio. He did his work, told me vent looked good as it was putting out far more heat than it did before he vacuumed it. He had me sign his work invoice and left. Probably took 30-40 minutes. I had no problems with the service or the tech. I would use this company again and recommend them!

They have not responded to me at all during the two weeks that I tried to get in touch with them.

The technician was timely. All work was done well.

He was on time, quick and thorough. Can't ask for any more.

The technician was prompt, extremely courteous, provided me feedback on my overall system, and cleaned up after the appointment. This appointment was perhaps the easiest I've ever scheduled with a contractor. While I had to schedule well over a month in advance, I greatly appreciated they could come out on a Saturday thus precluding me from missing work during a work day.

Sean and Larry did an excellent job. They arrived on time, worked really hard and completed quickly. They were very serious about getting the job done right. I was told they would arrive between 11:30 and 12:30. They arrived at 11:45 and were done by 1:00. I could tell that they definitely knew what they were doing.

The work that was performed was done in a professional manner. However, the actual service performed was not consistent with the price charged. The price of a large commercial shop vac like what the technician used is only about $120. Otherwise, no specialized equipment was used to do a better cleaning than I could do myself. Compared to the volume of air the system moves each time the heater or air conditioner turns on, the 'blowing' out the vents was absolutely insignificant. The vacuuming of the intake was thorough but only did the intake area, it did not actually vacuum the blower mechanism of the system or any area after the coil. Therefore, anything that happened to be blown from the outflow vents back into the mainline was not removed, but is now sitting in the blower of the air handling system. So I just paid the equivalent of $600 / hour for the vent cleaning service which was no more significant than what could be done with just a house vacuum and has the potential to have actually harmed the air handling system. The company was responsive via email setting up the appointment and the technician arrived right at the scheduled time. Both of these are always very appreciated, especially when I'm taking time off from work to get this done. The technician was also very courteous and professional about the work he did.

I purchased the service through Angie's List's big deal. I contacted the company, and they promptly scheduled the service a few weeks later. The technicians were on time, polite, and professional, and they performed service in a timely manner. However, despite the fact that my coupon stated "full house cleaning", I was told that the coupon would only cover one heating/AC system, not both, and I ended up paying twice what I expected. In addition the "big deal" was no deal at all. The coupon price turned out to be the regular price, not a discount at all. I'm sure the service was fine, and I had no issue with the technicians, but I found no incentive to use this company again over another.

The service man was prompt and courteous (he even came early - he did call to confirm if that was ok first). He completed the job quickly and provided advice on how often to perform the service. Answered all my questions about the work he was going to do.

I left a message and someone promptly called me back and gave me an estimate. I moved into my home Jan. 2001 and 2 1/2 years later, needed all the tile to be removed and reinstalled. Needless to say, a lot of dust & debris went into the ducts. The tech asked me if I had done construction inside my home because the ducts were filled with "stuff" from the tile renovation, almost 7 years ago! A company rep. arrived promptly on the scheduled day. The tech's name was Delano ("D") and he was extremely polite, professional & thorough. When he was finished, he put in room deodorizer that filled the entire house with a pleasant scent. This is the second time I've used RC Duct Cleaning. Mark came the first time; Delano (D) the second time. I have a feeling that technicians hired by the company's owner are carefully screened. This indicates to me that the company hires & trains technicians who relate well with people & that first impression of the technician is as important as the quality of work performed. I have been twice very pleased with RC Duct Cleaning and I would use them again and would recommend their company to others.

This was an Angie's List Big Deal. Considering how much debris was extracted from the dryer vent, I believe it was a very good deal. It took about 10 to 15 minutes. Due to the addition of an enclosed space under the back porch, the ductwork is long and angled. I've lived in the house about three years and this was the first time I had it cleaned. I asked the technician how often it should be cleaned and he said the EPA recommends an annual cleaning. (I doubt whether the previous homeowners ever had it cleaned.) I rate this company a "B" for responsiveness because I didn't receive a reminder call. I believe responsiveness includes not just making the appointment, but also following up. Considering an emergency that took place recently in my family, a reminder call would have been appreciated. In fact, when the techinician came to the door, I honestly didn't know why he was there. As soon as "Angie's List" was mentioned, I immediately recalled the appointment. Like I said, though, I might not have been there because of an ongoing family matter. I don't fault the technician; he was extremely friendly and professional.

RC Duct Cleaning promptly returned my call and a Tuesday October 22, 2011 was set. I mentioned my Angie's List coupon and with this, a price was quoted. Mark arrived on time and did an amazing job. The dryer vent is up on my roof so this was not an easy job. I saw all the "stuff" he cleaned out..and even saw more "stuff" next time I used my dryer. Mark was so extremely polite. It's refreshing to encounter someone like him because many businesses no longer seem to care about the demeanor of the rep sent to the homeowner. I feel the rep. represents the philosophy of the company which is not only to perform the service in an excellent manner, but also to treat the customer in a caring, professional manner. Mark is an excellent rep for this company because I will use RC Duct Cleaning again to clean the ducts inside my home.

This was a move-in cleaning and the guys (Mark and ?) were fantastic! They spent a couple hours in our home and were not only very thorough, but quite the slapstick team as well. Since we have asthmatics in our family, the duct cleaning was something that we needed to have done before we moved in and I have to say that we are very pleased with the service that RC provided. Aside from being a tad annoyed about having to pay the $100 surcharge, I can't offer anything but high praise for those guys.

I would like to see that he do the job thoroughly by cleaning both ends of the vent. He did not do the other end in the laundry. My concern was that they dryer vent had not been cleaned in years. The price was a bit much for a ten-minute work from the time he arrived and left.

I bought an Angie's List "Big Deal" coupon for Dryer Vent cleaning for $89. I called the company twice on two separate weeks, and never spoke to a person. The number rang to a generic voice mail box like you might hear on a cell phone without any company information or indication that I was contacting the right people. I left a message both times and never heard back. I returned the coupon.

When the serviceman began working, he cleaned out copious amounts of straw, feathers, and birds eggs from the portion of the vent running through the attic. The dryer vent leading out from the back of the dryer was blocked with several pounds of damp lint. It is a miracle that the dryer didn't blow up. Angie's List saved the day and RC Duct Cleaning did a great job of cleaning out the vent. In addition, the serviceman installed a cage over the vent so that birds will have no further access. The young man also vacuumed up the mess that came out of the vent. I will definitely call them back next year for another inspection.

Pleased with service; our serviceman was prompt, friendly. Cleaned our dryer vent but then left lots of lint in the yard. Not a big deal just seemed kind of half a**, you know?

It went fine. He did a good job and took the time to explain if I had any questions. No mess was made, and he was well-mannered.

This was an Angile's List Big Deal which I chose beause of the price. I was pleased to get an appointment the same week I called. When Tim arrived, he answered all my questions and explained the process, which included cutting a hole in my new heat pump. At first I was relunctant to do this and Tim didn't pressure me. He offered and explained other options. I decided to allow "the cut" and Tim hauled in his equipment and got busy. Overall, I'm satisfied with the experience while unsure of how to judge the quality of the service. When I replaced my heat pump/air conditioner, it was recommended that the ducts be cleaned, so I'm relieved I can check this off my ist. My only negative, though not serious, is the sanitizer smells like hospital antiseptic.

This was an Angie's List special. It couldn't have gone smoother. The appointment setting was quick and easy. The tech (Mark) arrived on time, worked quickly and professionally and seems to have done a great job.

They were excellent. They showed up on time, they did a really great job, they were reasonably priced. They were very nice on the phone and professional. I needed them right away and they came out the next day. They left the place nice and clean and it smelled great. I would recommend them to anyone.

Attempted scam!! The technician showed up 45 minutes late, no phone call. I contracted for air duct cleaning for $250.00. The technician took a blower (as in leaf blower) and blew air into the vents. That was the extent of the air duct cleaning. The tech told me that the blower would blow all the dust back to the return vent. This defied logic. I could have done the same thing in 5 minutes with a leaf blower. The technician had brought a "snake" to clean air ducts. I asked him if he was going to use the snake to clean my vents. He stated, "no, that's just for the return vent, and you don't have one". This was outright untrue. The snake was for cleaning out vents. I called the company office and relayed my concerns to them. A women who answered told me that the vents were supposed to be cleaned out. I handed the phone to the technician and apparently the women from the office directed him to clean out the vents with the snake. The snake, I was told, that wasn't for cleaning vents. The tech did use the snake to clean the vents. After he left I found 3 broken springs on the floor that came from the vent covers. He also broke off one of the tabs from the vent covers that opens and closes the vents. I can see if he missed one broken spring, but three broken springs and a broken tab? I called the office to complain. The woman at the office told me that she would call the supervisor and let him know what was going on. The supervisor did call me. I told him the situation and he told me he would call back in an hour and come over to my house to inspect the work. An hour later I received a message from the office stating that the supervisor, "was too busy today to come over". They offered me a $15.00 discount. The tech tried to scam me with shoddy work, three springs were broken, and a tab from the vent cover was broken-and they offered me $15.00. That was an insult. Now I have to replace the broken parts. I told RC Duct Company that $50.00 would be acceptable. They agreed. I would never use this company again. Beware of the "leaf blower" scam.
