Absolutely terrible service and unprofessional. We used them to remove mold and they threw away our custom pool cover without a call, inquiry or any sort of communiciation before trashing it. This cost us $4,500 to replace and not even an apology from them. They clearly had no knowledge or what they were doing and simply trashed items without any regard leaving us without a cover (which was in a bag and not damaged). I can't even recommend 1 star for such awful service and reckless disregard for our personal property. We are pursuing a claim and reporting to the BBB. Do not use this company.

I was initially concerned when the inspector arrived. He did not have any business cards and drove an unmarked vehicle. He did say he was there to do the mold inspection and was very and was very personable. After not receiving the report, I finally called Aug. 21 to be told that the inspector had submitted his report but the office had forgotten to send it to me. After several discussions I received the report with a cover picture of my home, but the contract etc. was for another party in another state. When I called Safe Home I was told it was a mistake on the inspector's part because they use a template and he only has to change the inspection dates and addresses because the content "is always the same because the treatment is always the same". They did e-mail a corrected copy with several changes. It did not change the price. One question that still has not been answered: What is the fee based on? Is my job identical to the one the contract was originally written for? Who knows? I am very disappointed but I can't feel confident in this company if they can't get it right from the start.
Description of Work: I like to use and support small businesses whenever I can. However, my experience with Safe Home in getting an inspection and report has convinced me not to use them. I received the referral from a trusted Real Estate friend and called for an inspection which was done the first week of Aug. The inspector verified that there is mold in my attic. I paid the fee and he said Safe Home would e-mail me the report within 2-3 business days.

They came all the way out here and did a wonderful job at a reasonable priced. Everybody was very professional and they were the most convincing in term of their knowledge. I feel confident in what they did.

I hired SafeHome on the recommendation of my realtor to provide a home inspection on a house I had put an offer on. The inspector arrived on time, was friendly and took time explaining things to me and my fianc?. He pointed out a few problems but told us repeatedly throughout the inspection that we were purchasing a "solid, good house." We left the inspection knowing that some repairs would definitely have to be made and we negotiated with the seller to receive $4,000 to make these repairs. We expected to spend maybe that much again out of pocket to get the house in good shape (though at that point we were thinking at least a few cosmetic things would be included in that total). The surprises came after we had purchased the home and we began consulting with contractors. We discovered that some of the problems pointed out by the inspector were MUCH more extensive than he had led us to believe. When examining an area of our basement where we eventually determined water was settling at the foundation, one contractor asked me, shocked, "What did the home inspector have to say about this?" The answer was, nothing. While he had identified one area where mold was present in the basement, he had also missed several additional areas throughout the house (though SafeHome is supposed to be a mold testing and remediation company as well). In one area where there was water damage on a wall the inspector said the previous owner had "probably fixed" an old problem with the gutter. We came to learn that the gutters had never been fixed, and when the drywall was removed in that area there was a hole through which the sky was visible. I don't expect perfection, and I know that home inspectors can't tear down walls. I feel the home inspector was totally negligent of at least informing us that some problems had the potential to be much more extensive. In some cases, he completely missed things that should have been obvious. We ended up spending much, much more money that we had planned. Currently we're at $25,000 on repairs and I expect that total to go even higher. And let me clarify that none of this has been spent on cosmetic repairs -- all on health and safety issues. We never would have bought the home at the price we did had we known what kind of repairs would be needed. Other homeowners in our position could easily have been financially ruined. I contacted SafeHome for a refund of our $400 inspection fee. Though they apologized, they denied my request on the grounds that "home inspectors are not contractors." I'm not sure what the point of a home inspection is, if this is the result. More than being upset about the refund, I'm upset to think that something similar may happen to another unsuspecting homebuyer.
Description of Work: SafeHome provided a home inspection on a home we eventually purchased.

Response from SafeHome Residential & Commercial Inspections
In response to review: Under the NAHI Standard of Practice (which we are a member of): "The purpose of the inspection is to identify visible defects and/or conditions that, in the judgment of the inspector, adversely affect the function and/or integrity of the items, components, and systems. Inspections performed under the Standards are basically visual and rely upon the opinion, judgment, and experience of the inspector, and are not intended to be technically exhaustive. The inspection and report are opinions only, based upon visual observation of existing conditions of the inspected property at the time of the inspection. THE REPORT IS NOT INTENDED TO BE, OR TO BE CONSTRUED AS, A GUARANTEE, WARRANTY, OR ANY FORM OF INSURANCE." The claim was denied for varies reasons our clients knows of. We give all our inspections a 90 Day Warranty which is specified in our contract the procedures that need to be followed to submit any claims. Our inspector perform the inspection based on our Standard of Practice, made recommendations on the report and recommend further evaluation by licensed contractors. Client was aware of the condition of the house due to the fact that the client was already receiving $4000 in repairs and expected to "spend that much again". Repairs on the house were recommended by a license contractor to fix the repairs in their areas of expertise due to the fact that we are inspectors and not license contractors. SafeHome review her claim and investigated her issues and addressed her concerns. In our investigation, we denied her refund due to the issues the client is addressing where mentioned on the report and other factors our client is aware of.
