God bless him, we always came out on top. His crew is top notch so we always knew we were in great hands. The caliber of workmanship in our home is simply beautiful and garners constant compliments. Matt helped us avoid countless mistakes that would have brought us great regret later. The original plan from the architect had our master suite configured in and unwieldy and space wasting manner. The closets would have been tiny and the master bath would have had no natural light. Matt came to the rental where we were living and toured our current closets and bathrooms, to see what we needed. Then he deftly devised a superior plan for the new master suite. You should see it! It is truly a beautiful and tranquil refuge from the world. Just as we hoped! Kind of practical approach to conversations and planning drove all of our interaction with Matt who's clear goal was to give us the house we wanted. He never skimped or balked. He didn't nickel and dime us; he was never petty. He never rolled his eyes at my infernal indecision--ok, well he did so good naturedly, when warranted. :) He provided a wonderful advisor to me on all matters finish related and she was a godsend. From the stunning woodwork and built ins which always make new visitors swoon to the space efficient mud room whose bead board cubbies have changed my life, as a mom. . . we always ended up in the right place. Yes, we absolutely love our new house. It works perfectly for family and it makes us all very proud. Matt perfectly balanced its function and its beauty. I know we will enjoy living here for years to come This experience was trying. It was longer and harder then we had hoped it would be. We were so fortunate to go through it with Matt Webb at the helm. He really became like a part of our family. We simply cannot recommend Matt and his team highly enough.

My husband?and I are so pleased with the quality of service and work done by Matt Webb, owner of Sycamore Design Build, Inc.,?and?his subcontractors that I wanted Angie?s List members to have this review. Thanksgiving?night, 2015, we experienced very damaging sewage-filled backups that flooded our basement. (Of course, we had a houseful of out-of-town visitors.) It was a?long weekend because it happened twice before the clog was finally cleared.?Because of the severe bio-hazard, we had to have the basement professionally?mitigated, a very expensive necessity.? Then there was the?question of how to repair this significant damage. ?After?receiving information from the insurance adjuster, we found Sycamore Design Build, Inc. Matt Webb was able to provide the guidance and suggestions that made the recovery?process seamless.?His estimated prices were right on target for the work needing to be done.?Because Matt was meticulous in assessing the damage, he noted two other issues needing immediate attention ??one with our heater and the other with a drain leak behind the walls in our?kitchen.? Because of his quick?assessment, he prevented two extraordinarily expensive repairs or replacements at?a time when our finances were already stretched because of the ruined?basement. Matt then planned the sequence of repairs with us. ?All his?subcontractors arrived on the day promised, on time, and completed the work in the amount of time they said it would take. ?Pleasantly, each subcontractor thoroughly cleaned up after their work was done. We sincerely?appreciate the way Matt conducts business. He uses language and terms that were?easy for us to understand and made several sound recommendations to us to help?prevent future basement issues. He took over the conversations with the?insurance company, really reducing our stress. ?Matt knows his trade well and has great people working for?him.? We look forward to working?with him on other home improvement projects ? hopefully ones that we plan :) I can?t?state strongly enough how much we respect and appreciate Matt and his company, Sycamore Design Build. They are a strong asset to the Angie?s List community.?

Matt is a nice guy, easy to talk to. He is a smart planner. He did what I had planned to have done. The weather was not very good so things took longer than planned.

He did a good job.

After Superstorm Sandy caused a huge oak tree to uproot and fall on our house, we got several estimates for the repair. Matt was very thorough and pointed out additional damage that we hadn't noticed. He is very easy to work with and his crew works very fast and efficiently. He was great at working with the insurance adjustor and made sure that the insurance company paid for the correct level of repair ( i.e. replacing the entire roof instead of patching it) Matt and his crew and sub-contractors showed up on time and got the work finished in a timely fashion. I would definitely recommend him and I did to a neighbor who used him to do repair work to her home.

Very very well. Matt and his men were punctual, polite and reliable. They never disappeared. If, on the rare occasion something was not right, they corrected it without trying to avoid it. They were patient with me and my changes of mind. I would recommend them as highly as I can and would use them again in a minute.

We are interested in adding an addition to our home and contacted Matt to see what our options might be. Matt impressed me from the start. He reponsed promptly to my email inquiry, showed up on time for our appointment, and provided excellent advice. There was no charge for the initial consultation, which lasted at least 45 minutes. Matt listened to our needs and asked some thought provoking questions that prompted further discussion between me and my husband after Matt left. Although we decided to hold off on pursuing the addition, I will definitely contact Matt again when we are ready to pursue the project.

Matt did a fantastic job! Both he and his crew were courteous, prompt and efficient. I would definitely recommend Matt to anyone in need of a contractor.

Overall a very positive experience, Matt was easy to communicate with and generally responsive during a time when contractors were under heavy demand in the area due to storm damage. Matt went to bat for us with the insurance company and was able to increase our settlement from $15k to $25k without us lifting a finger. All the work was done professionally. Although there were some minor delays and damaged items, Matt took care of these and acted professionally through the process. We would use Sycamore again.

Matt came in with a very fair and reasonable, and meticulously detailed, bid. He started the work exactly when he said he would, and he finished several days earlier than he promised. We are totally pleased with the work. Not only was it done right, but Matt had really great suggestions to improve the design. Every aspect of the work was done with the greatest care, and we are totally delighted with the outcome. The room addition is spectacular and all other aspects of the work, from writing to painting, were done very carefully and well. The people working for Matt were consistently pleasant to deal with, and they clearly had a goal of doing as good a job as possible. Matt was also very easy to work with, and he is a really nice person. He as always available by email and/or phone, and he was on the job so frequently that even if we showed up "unannounced" it was likely we'd find him there. He was very willing to discuss all aspects of the job, and when it came to doing a "punch list" at the end we barely needed one since Matt had found, and corrected, any problems before we could mention them. We would use Matt for any other job in the future and have already recommended him to our daughter and son-in-law (who will use him for painting) and friends. Bottom line is that Sycamore is a "class act."

(continued from previous section which apparently has a limit on number of words) --- tasks and services involved in building the entire house, and would know best sub-contractors for the many specialty areas needed. This included attention to any needed permits necessary and all building codes. Sycamore Homes general contractor was extremely sensitive to what the customer wanted and was very willing to change if we (the customer) changed our minds on design and implementation of the building activity. When the schedule was stressed because of weather or other situations the Sycamore contractor would be able to rearrange activities to make up for lost time. Everything was done with high quality intentions and was willing to make changes and fixes for any mistakes or low quality by sub-contractors.

We had been wanting to remodel our kitchen for a long time but kept putting it off because of money. Well we had a leak from our upstairs bathroom that ruined our kitchen ceiling and also some of our cabinets were falling so we decide in a short amount of time to remodel. We had some ideas but weren't exactly sure of what we wanted. The owner Matt was referred to us by a close friend who had Matt remodel his kitchen and also do some additionals on his home for him. Our friend is a perfectionist so we knew that if Matt was good enough for him he would be for us. Matt came out to our house soon after we called him. He measured the whole kichen area and gave us some suggestions that would help open up the kitchen more. It was a smooth and easy review of the kitchen and he said he would get us the infomation right away which he did within a few days. My husband and I wanted to get some more quotes to compare so we had two other contractors come out to talk to us. Neither one of the contractors measured as much as Matt did and either one of them had very many suggestions. When the quotes came in it was a no brainer- Matt was more detailed in his blueprint and also came in alot less then the other contractors. We asked him when he could start and he was able to fit us in between another job that he was working on. Now remember- this was all being done during the holiday season so we figured that even though contractors promise that a job would be done at a certain time it usually isn't completed until well after that date. Matt said that with the ordering of the cabinets (which took most of the time) and putting everything in it would be about two and a half weeks that we would be out of a kitchen. He was right one with the timeframe and either he or his workers were there daily from early in the morning until late at night getting the job done. Another perk was that we had to have a make shift kitchen in our sunroom (there are 5 of us) and Matt gave us some pots and a hotplate to use during this time to help. Every worker that came out was excellent. We especially loved our painter Oscar and the tile person who painstakingly had to do my backslash with small titles. Everything came out beautiful and I was back in my kitchen in no time- especially before the Christmas holiday. The only problem is that everyone wanted to see it and we had to entertain alot more but it was worth showing off my new kitchen!!!

I am extremely pleased to report that all went well with Sycamore Design Build (initially I never received an estimate but that was because the owner, Matt, had an incorrect email for me). I had planned to do a more extensive remodeling in my basement involving a door installation and major work to enlarge a bathroom to install a shower. In the end, I opted for just installing a door to my basement, which involved some drywall, handrail, and painting work. But Matt put a lot of thinking and planning time into the whole process, which I appreciate. [Note to others: It can be difficult to find a company, including those recommended by Angie's List, that will take on smaller remodeling jobs. I had the unfortunate experience of never hearing back from other companies that came to my place to take measurement and give me an estimate, and who never communicated with me again. I assume it is because they are only interested in more lucrative jobs.] Matt and his crew did an outstanding job with the installation--the door matches the style of other doors in my townhouse, and Oscar, his painter, was able to match my paint perfectly. They showed up on time and completed the work in a timely manner (over the course of about 3 days) with minimal disruption. A close friend told me that the door "looks like it has always been there," which is the highest possible compliment. The quality of work was top rate. Although I ideally would have liked to spend less (who doesn't?), and I can wholeheartedly recommend Sycamore Design Build, and working with Matt and his crew, if you are considering a remodeling job. You will be extremely pleased with the results.

They brought out a crew and did a great job in an emergency once. They were very fast. They are very professional. They clean up. They come back and check to make sure that everything is working out fine. I have no complaints. I have been through a lot of different contractors over the years, and I've whittled it down to the few who are good. They have proven themselves. I don't have the slightest problem with them.

They were excellent and everything was fine. It was perfect. We usually get other figures. They answered any questions immediately. We will absolutely use them again because we have an old house and there is always something.

They came out to give us an estimate. Their price sounded reasonable. We didn't feel the need to shop around because they had previously repaired a broken skylight and we knew they did good work at a reasonable price. We scheduled the work; it was done all the same day. It went well.

We talked to Matt because we knew the exceptional quality of his work and were very comfortable hiring him to do the job. We had a budget and Matt worked very hard to make sure we stayed within the budget. From start to finish we had no problems or surprises of any kind. The whole project took about 2-3 weeks and both Matt and his workers were always courteous and hardworking. I would always recommend Matt for any job. He actually built the home we live in and as soon as we saw it, we knew it was the house for us. Of course, looks can always be deceiving but in this case, no surprises! We had a home inspection prior to closing and even the home inspector was in awe of Matt's work. Hardly a day goes by where I don't get compliments on my home from passersby. Two plus years after purchasing this home I still get excited to pull into my driveway! It's that nice. This was, by far, the easiest remodel we have ever done and we owe that all to Matt's experience and helpful suggestions. The bar is spectacular and we are very proud to show it off. Matt is a great guy to work with. He listens to what you want and then is able to execute the plan. We highly recommend Matt for any job you have. He takes great pride in his work and it shows. He definitely wants his customers to be happy and we are definitely happy customers.

Sycamore Homes and Matt Webb are exceptional builders. We had a wonderful experience with Matt and his team, and continue to use them for other smaller projects and would definitely use them again if we build another home. The level of craftsmanship and creativity demonstrated by Matt was top rate. But that is only half of the story. In addition to building a beautiful and quality home on time and on budget, Matt made the entire process a pleasure by being a great listener, extraordinarily responsive, collaborative, and utterly honest. We bought a home that Matt and his architect had designed. While the exterior and general layout was determined by them, the interior was completely unfinished and basically this was a custom job from that point on. As an aside, the exterior design of the home and the interior use of space were great. People regularly stop and stare at our home because it is so striking, and the layout could not be more functional. We worked with Matt for over 6 months as we customized the entire interior of the large 7 bedroom home. Matt was very creative. His suggestions about the use of moldings, beams, finishes, and natural materials(stonework, etc.)resulted in a home that is both elegant, beautiful, and livable. Matt really internalized our tastes and how we would actually use the home for our family and translated our preferences and desires into a tangible plan. The end result is that we love, and use, every room in the house. Each room has "character" and feels unique and special. Matt is a stickler for quality. He is very hands on and doesn't merely delegate to the team. He personally gets involved in much of the work and supervises and inspects all of the work with a fine toothed comb. Typically, we would be delighted with something Matt had done and would tell Matt. If there was anything he wasn't completely satisfied with, he would furrow his brow and thank us, but then go to great pains to point out some small detail that he wanted to improve. The bottom line is that Matt has the absolute highest bar for perfection and will stop at nothing to make it perfect. He is completely transparent with the customer, pointing out every detail of the work performed and will answer any question or accommodate any change without being defensive. In short, he is an amazing craftsman and his approach inspires complete confidence because he wants to build the best home possible and you don't ever have to look over his shoulder. Building a home is the biggest expense in most people's lives and they have far less knowledge than the builder, so finding a builder who is completely trustworthy and open made the process anxiety-free. Inevitably during the course of a big project, there are things you want to change and Matt was great about accommodating them even if it meant re-doing work. Matt is completely up front about all costs involved and we were never surprised and always felt like we got great value.

Matt Webb is easy to work with, listens and communicates well, always has constructive and creative ideas, and is very sensitive and responsive to the owners preferences. Matt Webb and crew always did excellent quality work. When he subcontracted areas of work he would shop for best price from known subcontractors he had worked with previously. He always gave the owner options of doing more and making timely changes. He always was very conscious of energy savings and used materials and insulation which allowed a very efficient energy use house with many convenient features like a hot water circulation system which allows hot water to be readily available around the entire house. After living in the house for 2 months the energy used was about 20 % less than the old house used at the same time of year. This was a reduction of about 60% energy use since the old house was half the size of the new house.

After a series of costly and frustrating encounters with unlicensed/fraudulent contractors, we conducted extensive research into more than half-a-dozen contractors, before we finally found Matt at Sycamore Homes. His complete focus on our project and his great attention to detail was unsurpassed. He received the parts and everything in under a week. This company was very responsive and gave us a great service in an efficient manner and time.
