Excellent. Contractor work team very good, and Christian Schmidt very responsive. All problems were corrected as construction proceeded. Very pleased with results. Would recommend to others for similar work.

Christian and Go Green are tremendous. They are professional, trustworthy, and most importantly they thoroughly know what they're doing. You don't want to mess around when it comes to underpinning. One wrong move and a building can collapse. Go Green is meticulous in how they complete the underpinning stage by stage. They don't cut corners to save time or materials and they can explain every step of the process to you in great detail, so you will know exactly what is happening the entire time. I would recommend Christian and Go Green to do underpinning and foundation work to anyone, including my own mother. I had 100% confidence in them the entire time and I never lost a minute of sleep during the process because I had no doubts that the job was being completely safely. Don't just choose the cheapest or fastest bid you get on underpinning. This isn't drywall. When it comes to underpinning a house, error mean people can die. I chose Christian and Go Green because I could tell they knew exactly what they were doing and that I could trust them. I never wavered in that confidence in them from Day 1 to the very end of the project. Absolutely money well spent.

We needed a long trench for an electrical line in our backyard to a shed. Christian called to answer my inquiry within 24 hrs and had visited the site and given an estimate within just a few days. His price was the best of about 6 estimates that I got. His team was hardworking, prompt and polite. The work was done without a hitch. I highly recommend Go Green and would go to this company again in the future.

Christian was great!
1. Preconstruction-Christian provided several pre-construction consultations/site visits to make sure that I understood the extent of the project as well as to make sure he understood exactly what we were looking for in a final product. Additionally, he was able to recommend other good architects and other subcontractors to work with on the project. Christian provided a thorough and fair contract and was also willing to discuss additional terms that we wanted to ensure project success.
2. Construction-
     A. Professionalism-Christian and his team were completely professional. They are diligent and work full days to finish the project on schedule. Additionally, we had asked before hand that there be limited service interruption/ i.e. water and electric and his team was true to that. Additionally, they notified us when those services would need to be termed off and the period or interruption. They entered the house only a couple times at the beginning of the project and after they had developed and egress, Christian only came through on my request and they made sure not to track mud in the house. Lastly, Christian and his team were always very respectful and nice to my family.
       B. Quality-
Underpinning: Christian and his team do great work. They made sure to structurally reinforce the house as needed as they poured the individual underpinning sections. Additionally,  their concrete work looks great and was level as it should have been. Christian fully understands underpinning and each part of the process and is able to foresee any issues and understands how to overcome them. Christian passed all inspections with DCRA and had clear understanding of the inspection process. Lastly, he has a great foreman, Ben, who serves as a great overseer and project leader to ensure the clients needs are being met.
Patio-When Christian was pouring the patio, he took time to show the color to my wife and me before he poured it to make sure it was what we wanted (as sometimes the color doesn't look like the samples). They gave us multiple options on shaping the patio design and worked with us to give us exactly what we wanted and needed for our space.
3. Post Construction-Christian made sure that we were happy with all items of the project before we conducted project closeout. Additionally, he encouraged us to call him if we had any follow up questions or concerns which made us feel very comfortable about the project overall.
Final Thoughts: I would definitely use Christian again for my underpinning and other concrete needs! I would encourage people to bring him in as early as possible to the design process. He has really good insight into underpinning value engineering methods that can save the customer time and money while still meeting DCRA codes and being structurally safe.

I started out thinking that I would do the demolition of my bathroom myself, but then I realized how time consuming it would be to do the work and difficult it would be to dispose of the material.  I looked into renting a dumpster, and I found that it was far more economical, both financially and with regards to time, to hire Go Green.  I called Christian to confirm that this was the kind of work that his company did do (and why is this not a category on Angie's list??  I had to search for about 5 minutes before I could actually find Go Green, and they are the only contractor that I could find that does this kind of work), and he gave me a rough estimate over the phone for how much it would be to do the work.  He was able to email me a contract, and we got the work scheduled  for an afternoon in short order.
In 5 hours, his crew was able to remove all four walls, the ceiling and the floor of my 5X8 bathroom with plaster and tile walls and floor.  In hindsight, this would have taken me at least 30 hours of my own time to do the demo, and even then I would have had to deal with the headache of disposing of the materials.  His crew was very professional and kind, and they were very careful to protect my hardwood floors and to contain as much dust as they possibly could.  Some dust and debris went through the floor into my basement, and they even took the time and effort to clean that up!
Christian, the owner, was extremely responsive and professional through the entire process, communicating with me via phone, email, and text message to ensure that we were on the same page from start to finish.  His crew was punctual, and the quality of their work was impeccable.  On the whole, while I might have spent a little less out of pocket to simply rent a dumpster, the value that Christian and his team offered far outweighed the time, effort, and cost of doing the work myself.  I would 100% recommend him and his crew to anyone looking for demolition work in the future!

Met Chris on Angie's List, he came the very NEXT DAY to evaluate the subject properties.
He gave me a "VERY FAIR" estimate the next day. We got all the necessary permits/drawings in place and then proceeded to start.
Chris and his crew ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL, HARDWORKING AND MORE IMPORTANTLY "FUN TO BE AROUND".
THEY FELT MORE LIKE AN OLD FRIEND YOU HADN'T SEEN IN A LONG TIME, NOT THE REGULAR "STANDOFFISH" CONTRACTOR TO EMPLOYER RELATIONSHIP YOU SEE NOWADAYS.
I AM AN INVESTOR WITH OVER 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE REHAB BUSINESS, THEY DON'T MAKE 'EM LIKE "GO GREEN" NOWADAYS.......THAT'S ALL OUR SAY
Chris and his crew we're on time every single day, did an EXCELLENT job and i couldn't be HAPPIER!!!
I'M SOLD ON "GO GREEN"
LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING MANY MORE PROJECTS WITH "GO GREEN" IN THE NEAR FUTURE

Everything went great.  The contractor/owner, Christian, is a pleasure to work with.  He is honest, his workers do beautiful work, and they clean up after themselves.  I am currently working with this company to rebuild my porch covering.  I think I received a $50,000 backyard job for much less.
I highly recommend this company.

The quality of the work that Go Green did was great., and we felt the price was competitive. They came in one day and tore up the concrete, leaving it piled in the middle of the former pad as to not kill any existing grass. The found a route to the pad that also did not hurt the existing lawn, which was much appreciated. A few days later they came back and hauled away the concrete, and laid the top soil. They were thorough with their work and did a nice job overall. The only issues we had were communcating with the company owner, who gave us the bid and followed up after as to when they would do the work.  We tried to communicate the dates that would work with our schedules, and were flexible with scheduling, and told him we wanted to be present when the work was done and needed to schedule to be away from the office. They had a job cancelled and came a day early, so we were not home when the work was performed.  The business was unusually busy this summer, and communcation suffered due to that.  The work was done to our satisfaction, but we strongly prefer to be home when any work is done.

From the very beginning, Christian was the ideal contractor.   When I requested a quote, he responded within 24hrs with an initial estimate based solely on my description of desired work, and we arranged a time for him to swing by (at my convenience) for him to look at the jobsite in person. After coming to the house and seeing what I needed, he provided a slightly higher quote.  Which I fully expected given the work involved, and was still very reasonable.   He also made several suggestions to alter my original plans/ideas.  Several of them did indeed sound better than my original plan, so I took him up on some changes.  Raised the price a little more, but again, still very reasonable and seemed well worth it, given the expected final-result. At the time, we were dealing with family medical issues, and he was very accommodating to our plight.  He had a large job lined up later that week that would've delayed my work by at least a month and a half... but he was able to squeeze me in beforehand.  He sent me a revised written quote via email that night, and scheduled the work to be started in two days. He arrived a little later than expected, but traffic in this area makes it difficult for anyone (myself included) to arrive on time for anything!  Got started right away.  After a couple hours of digging and hauling, I decided to make a change to the agreed upon work... adding an additional area to dig.  Also requested that the top layer of dirt be set aside so I could use it as fill for my backyard.  Christian questioned whether I truly wanted the top-layer of soil (to include the sod), and I confirmed it was what I wanted.   Despite this adding unexpected work for him, he was willing to accommodate and did not raise the cost of the job, with the exception of a slight cost to cover an addition dump-truck full of dirt.   He and his crew worked til it was dark, and said they would return to finish the next morning. Well, the next morning... rain.  Christian let me know that he'd be back when the rain stopped to finish up.  And he followed through with that the next day. When he did return, I once again... requested some changes.  A friend notified me that the dirt (with sod) would make awful fill... so, I asked Christian to swap my original "save" pile with the pile of dirt waiting to be hauled away.  Once again, extra work for him... which could've been avoided had I listened to him when he initially questioned my choice.  I also requested a ramp be dug at the top of the driveway, so I could eventually add stairs.  I let him know I was more than willing to pay extra to cover the extra work... but he would only take a slight increase to cover the extra time using the mini-ex. Very pleased with the finished product.  Quality of work was top notch.  But beyond the simple pleasure of finally having off-street parking (I added gravel myself, later on)... was the experience of dealing with Go Green.  From start to finish, Christian was polite, personable and professional.  Despite all of my constant changes to the workplan, he accommodated every added request... and while he could have charged much more for each change... he didn't. My only wish was that I had more work to give him (well, I probably could... if I had any more nickels to rub together).  We truly enjoyed having him around, and will enjoy the product of his work for years to come.  Highly recommend Go Green to everyone.  He sets the Gold Standard for Contractors.

We had looked at several companies for this project. Christian came by the same day that I called for an estimate and looked at the site. He asked us about price and seemed flexible. He was able to schedule our job for only a few days after the estimate. He took down the shed and left the site clean. We were very pleased with the job.

We had a problem with moisture in our basement and had been getting very high estimates for waterproofing and landscaping solutions. We had hardscaping that needed to be removed first so I decided that I would get a separate estimate for the demolition and hauling part and Go Green appealed to me because of the recycling aspect. Christian gave us a very reasonable estimate so we decided to use Go Green for the demolition part. When I talked with him on the phone to schedule the work he asked me what the larger picture of our project was about. When I told him about the basement moisture problems he said his company could help us with that part as well if we were interested. Christian came out to consult with us about our basement issue and provided us with an estimate for a waterproofing solution that we could actually afford. So we decided to use Go Green for the larger project. Go Green started the project a week after I signed the contract. The project was a little stressful for me since I had to organize multiple contractors in a tight time frame and still try to make it to work. Go Green did the demolition in two parts since once they started it was discovered that there was hardscape on top of hardscape which required extra dumpsters and time. The first demo day they removed enough hardscape so that we could get the tree contractor in to remove the huge oak right by the house and have the stump ground. They came back and finished the demo work the next week, but we had a little drama when excavation started thanks to Miss Utility marking the gas line incorrectly. Luckily there were no gas leaks so Christian was able to move on with the project without having to wait for Washington Gas to do their repairs to the gas line. Despite some bad weather Christian and crew were able to get the waterproofing and drain in and do the back filling and grading. Christian even did extras like planting some shrubs for us and fixing our falling down vinyl fence. Around a week later after some heavy rain we discovered that removing the tree and some other plants had changed the topography of our property and we also had a little settling. Christian came back out and added some more soil, mulch, and gravel and installed a box drain where the tree used to be and some other trenches and pipes which seems to have solved the problem. Christian is very attentive when he is on site and seems like a very smart and hardworking guy who strives to to do good quality work. Communications through phone and email were sometimes slow, but I am sure that is due in part to being a small business. The price increased a bit since there was extra hardscaping beneath the concrete and asphalt which required two more dumpsters and the unforeseen drainage issues which we chose to use Go Green to fix for us. But we feel that we got a great value for the money. Overall we feel that choosing Go Green to do our project was a good decision.

I really have to give Christian and Go Green an A-, not exactly an A. Our project was a little stressful and there were some problems, but in the end it got done well and for an excellent price. Part of this was caused by the weather - right after Christian began removing the pool, a major snowstorm dumped two feet of snow on the area. It was supposed to be a four day job, but between the snow storms and the ice melts afterward, it stretched to more like a month. We had said in the beginning that we weren't in a hurry and had no deadline other than summer, and keeping costs down was a priority, so this wasn't really a problem except that after a while we just got worried. During the course of the job, there were some small increases in price due to surprises about what was under the ground of our 40-year old home. Christian had given us a rock-bottom price to begin with, but ended up having to increase it a little because of all the problems he encountered (it was still a pretty low price). In the end, however, they finished the job up as soon as the weather cleared, well before summer, and actually did a really nice job of grading the land to minimize our drainage problems. They also patched up the cement driveway that was damaged when the rollaway was put on it. So it wasn't the smoothest job, but it did get done satisfactorily in the end, and the final price was still 2K lower than the competition. My overall impression of Christian was that he is a really honest guy and very trustworthy. He does most of the work himself and was at the site all day, every day that they worked. It's definitely a small operation and not as able to easily absorb small problems and added costs, but they did get the job done and we got a really good price on it, so that made it worth it.

I couldn't be happier with Go Green's work. Taking down a portion of a 150-year-old structure requires intelligence, not just muscle. One false move and you've destroyed a historic home. I hired Christian because I trust his judgment. He doesn't just go in and destroy the place-he thinks first. For instance, on day 2 of the job, after studying the house at length, he told me that he thought a chimney I wanted to remove needed to stay for structural integrity. Some guys would say, "The owner said take it down, so I'm taking it down." Christian had the foresight to think about the ramifications of taking it down and explained the risks to me. After considering Christian's input and discussing it with my builder, the chimney stayed in place and I avoided a potential catastrophe. He doesn't just oversee the job; he works side by side with his crew from start to finish. They worked hard and were careful to keep the work site clean. They even completed a small demo task that I had started but was having trouble finishing by myself, and they did so for free (about two hours of his team's time). Christian and Go Green have the team to tackle any job, large or small, easy or complex. They are my first and only call for demo work. My rule is that if Christian and Go Green can fit my budget, I don't even call another company. And if Christian can't fit my budget, most often I raise my budget to fit Christian because his work/judgment is worth it. I strongly recommend.

Christian and Go Green did a great job at communicating throughout the job. Christian walked me through his estimate and explained how he got to his number. They completed a very large demo job with very few surprises. Christian is professional and very intelligent. Most of all he understands the importance of diplomacy-- I had a very disruptive neighbor who seemed to complain at every turn. When speaking to me the neighbor would be pleasant and we would work together to resolve her problem. But to Christian she was completely rude and even threatening. Christian, knowing that getting in an argument with the neighbor would just make my life harder, always handled the neighbor with class and turned the other cheek. He cleaned off her front steps at the end of every day and, at her request, even disposed of several large trash items for her (for free) to create some neighborly goodwill. Hopefully it will go a long way towards ending my neighbor's unreasonable complaints! The job site was always clean and Christian kept me updated everyday on progress. I would definitely hire him again.
