The handyman, Gregory, arrived on time and started work right away. He set up a clothesline in my back yard, removed an air conditioner from an upstairs window and moved a piece of furniture. I asked him to remove some weather stripping from an outside door (I had been advised that this would help the door lock more securely) but Gregory said that this would let in too much cold air in the winter. So I went with his opinion.

Our service was fast, friendly and cheap. When he got here the locksmith decided that it was not economical to rekey our doors (they were very old and the house had been rented for quite a few years before we purchased it). He told us that he would rekey, but he worried that it would not work well and that it would cost us in the long run when we had to re-do it. He was very genuine and cut us a deal that was extremely close to the rekey price, giving us all new locks and knobs instead of rekeying. He was in and out in about an hour and a half and extremely friendly. He was on time, worked fast, and extremely professional.

Greg responded right away and came to the house on a Saturday afternoon. He was pleasant and polite. I appreciated the way he explained the reason that the old locks had not worked correctly. He finished the installation quickly but made sure that I thought the new handle and lock worked well.

Well, they were quick and gave me extra keys.

Greg and Dan were terrific. They were on time; were courteous, conversational, and friendly; and replaced the locks with professional expertise. They cleaned up all the debris that fell to the floor from their work on the locks. Greg explained everything beforehand: the procedure itself, how long it would take, several alternative options, and what the price would be. After he and Dan installed the locks, they showed us how to work with them. They went over the steps several times, until they were sure we understood. The price itself was very reasonable and did not deviate from what Greg said it would be. I would hire these guys and their company again and will do so if and when the need arises. He showed up the same day that I called and he was on time (actually 10 mins early). He was very knowledgeable. He gave us multiple options and took the time to explain everything to us. He was not "sales-y" and he was very easy to do business with. I would definitely call Gregory again for any sort of locksmith related questions since I know that I would get good and honest advice.

Well I had actually asked him because I had a lock desk and there was no key that I could find for it. So I called this guy and he came over and he gave me a good estimate, I mean he gave me good advice. He said that other than breaking it open there really wasn't any other way to open it. Since he didn't actually do any work for me I can't really grade him but he seemed to be very knowledgeable and competent.

They were fine. I used them the very same day I purchased the big deal. There were additional charges beyond the big deal price of $15. It ended up being around $100. It was not completely fixed.

The technician came out on a Sunday, that was a plus, and came out early, that was even better. I told him I bought an Angie's list coupon for $120.00 to re-key 4 locks, and we may possibly need a lock set replacement on an outdoor shed, since that hardware has been exposed to the elements for 11 years. The technician suggested a full replacement of the shed lock for "35.00", so I said "that was cheaper than Home Depot so of course go ahead and do it!" , he agreed. I then asked him to replace a backdoor lock-set since it was worn-out looking, and for that price who wouldn't! Here is were things went down hill quickly. He finished and did a good job. There was a little sticking on one lock during inspection, but he quickly fixed it with no problem. Then came the final bill. $320.00 add on another 120.00 and the total was $490.00. Now, I'm a fair man having owned my own home improvement company for years - this was a case of the typical bait and switch up-sell, with a highball final bill. Great in third world countries, where you negotiate everything like an auction, bad business here. Conveniently, the labor charge was left out of the pricing. Replacing three lock-sets in their entirety, with no issues, should at the most run 40.00 per key entry or 160.00 per door. Essentially, he charged 40.00 to re-key one lock, and $450.00 to change out two simple residential locks. If that's the industry standard, I'll never hire a locksmith again for a change out. He did give me a "discount" of $50.00 so I ended up paying 390.00 for the entire job. * Business tip - always let your customer's know what the total cost is, and never slam them with a wazoo final bill. You'll earn a poor reputation and business will suffer.

The sp was trying to charge me $95 extra for labor. I only needed one door knob replaced I bought the knob and this big deal. He then tried to charge me even more. I want my money back.

We have a German-made lock by CES. The locking mechanism broke and another locksmith recommended replacing the entire lock at a cost of approximately $700. Golden Key determined that only the cylinder needed to be replaced at a cost of $256. Simply put, I would highly recommend using them.

He showed up half an hour early, before I got home. My husband met him at the door. The guy took one look at the lock we wanted to install and said it was a garbage brand, that we should install a better lock (mind you this is a $100 lock from Home Depot). Then he asked for $150 for the visit, said he would find us a better lock, and left before I arrived home. My husband, not realizing I'd sent the guy a photo of the lock we wanted installed in advance, had no idea that he should have protested. I came home to discover that the guy had already left, we were out $150, and we had no new lock. A week passed, and the guy never got back in touch with us regarding recommendations for a new lock. I texted him and asked when he would be back to us with a new lock. "Tomorrow," he says. That was 3 days ago. Radio silence. So $150 for nothing. Even with all the advance preparations.

Vendor responded within 1 hour of my arriving home. Provided credentials without my having to ask and rapidly diagnosed the problem. Offered many alternatives to addressing the fact that my locks are old and outdated but beautiful and unusual for me. He made a way for them to work so my antique hardware remains on my colonial door!! He ensured that I could not get in and out of my door with it locking appropriately. Cleaned up all trash. Very professional and respectful.

They did an Excellent job and was so Impressed that they were able to come that night to replace our deadbolt lock for us. Very professional and super friendly and finished the job in about an hour. We really needed the lock to be replaced and they handled everything perfectly and were able to replace our door handle also. We are very happy with their service and would definitely use them again.

Golden Key was running late, so they called to let me know as I had made their last appointment time. My wife and I had just moved about 25 minutes away and did not update our address on Angie's List so Golden Key went to the old address. Despite us not providing the correct address, they drove the additional 25 minutes to our new house and performed all of the services requested in a timely and professional manner.
