We cancelled our verizon wireless internet and tv package due to the high cost. We use Broadstripe for our internet service only and although we've only had their services for approx a month now we are very happy with the quality and price and have no complaints.

Description of Work: Let me preface this by stating that the very last service call performed by Chris was a definite A plus. He went well beyond the call of duty and decided to get a ladder & climb the phone pole in backyard. There he found additional issues, such as coaxial wire chewed by squirrels and worn out connections. The initial issue was a loud hum in landline phone line, which he corrected before he took the ladder out to the pole. It was very hot and humid. He knew his job quite well. However, since the beginning of June, I had approx. 5 Broadstripe technicians out to connect wireless and bundle with phone & cable. Two were definitely not recommended. One was a subcontractor & the other a Broadstripe employee who is no longer with them. Brian (a subcontractor) was great. I'd really like to give an A, but there is a very long wait time to schedule a repair (maybe summer vacations, etc.) & I had less than stellar experiences with 2 reps as stated. I expect a repair to be done right the first time.

I called on Wednesday and they came out to exchange my box on Thursday Moring I was very impressed all of 10 minutes and very friendly and now I never have to miss any of my favorite shows while I am working the great thin about this cable company is they are very hands on customer service and not to big I feel like they know me and im not a number or answering to someone over-seas. thank you Broadstripe for all your continuous customer service

The representative I spoke with on the phone was extremely helpful and was throwing out deals left and right whenever I mentioned various topics, such as a free modem for 12 months when I asked for the cost of renting a modem or lowering my cost per month when he couldn't offer me 30/15 service (because they only do that service in a combination package with phone or tv, neither of which I wanted). Make sure you are knowledgeable about the various charges that internet companies charge and ask questions! They were able to schedule someone to come install two days later. However, when he arrived, he quickly determined that we did not have the proper connection from the cable on the street to our house, and told us that would take a few weeks to have installed. I was really glad that I hadn't cancelled my Verizon ahead of this appointment! The people who installed the cable from the street to the house didn't need to bother us to do their job, so I had no interaction with them. The person who showed up the next day to install was early, but called several hours ahead of time to make sure this was okay. He was non-interruptive to my day, helpful, respectful, and did his job perfectly. We have had this internet service for two months now. I would say it is not quite as reliable as Verizon Fios, but considering I am paying 1/3 the cost, I am happy with it. When I say not as reliable, I mean that when you are streaming tv shows, every once in a while something will cut out and you have to wait about a minute before the internet kicks back in. I find that a minor issue to deal with for only $30 per month! Update in Feb 2015: Everything is going swimmingly with Broadstripe. Their free wireless router is not very good, so I would recommend buying your own, but otherwise, the service is great, especially for only $30 per month!

We were using another cable service provider but felt the price was unreasonable for what we were getting. After checking a few other cable/internet companies we decided Broadstripe had the best price for the channels we wanted and the same internet speed we were used to having from our former carrier. The initial call to Broadstripe had us waiting for a customer service agent for about 5 minutes but once on the phone with them, they took their time like we were their only customer. The gentleman that came and installed the equipment was on time, quick and very professional. We have had no service problems or interruptions and are very pleased with the picture quality, channel selection and the Wi-Fi connectivity and speed. Our first bill has arrived and it is exactly what they said it would be. We will be saving about $85.00 a month!

I was a member of Comcast for almost a year when my Internet bill started going higher and higher (from 30 to 63 per month!) I wanted an alternative provider to bring down the cost. I was in the Marley Station mall and saw a booth for Broadstripe. I grabbed a flier and gave the number a call to speak with the representative. After answering all of my questions promptly and professionally, I agreed to sign up with their service. An installation date was set. It was so much better than my past experiences with these types of things. The guy was actually early! Everything was finished in about half an hour. I've had no problems with the company whatsoever. I was worried about using my own router and modem. I didn't want them thinking they provided them and I would be charged when I didn't return anything. A quick call or email to customer service ensured their records were correct. I had this issue with the other company and it took many followups to get things squared away. I'm still under the promotional value. It will be interesting to see what happens when the price goes to the normal $60+. For now, I couldn't be happier with my service!
Description of Work: Turned on Internet service. Not much was involved other than hooking up outside connections and making sure things were able to sync up with my modem and router.

My husband caught them as they were drilling a hole in our 60 yr old hardwood floors in the entrance to our living room! Not in a corner or behind furniture! They were planning on running the cable up in the middle of the floor for us to walk over? He had them install it properly but not before they damaged our floors. I called them right away and they sent out a supervisor that was dumbfounded that they would do that. He said to get estimates and they would turn it into their insurance. I got two estimates and months later after I asked for an update they said that their insurance denied it as they didn't have proper insurance to cover their mistakes. They offered to plug the hole! Unacceptable. I made a report with BBB and am in the process of taking them to court. They just ignored my correspondence with the once I told them that plugging the hole was unacceptable. And ...their fix still hasn't totally fixed the problem...their service is crap and not any cheaper then others. Wished I would have had Angies list before I let them in my house!
Description of Work: They came out to fix a problem with their original cable installation. I called them because we would lose picture and or audio all the time. They said they needed to reinstall the cable.

I was receiving my Internet through another cable provider in the area when the price spiked from 45 to 62 because my promotional period was over. I was in the Marley Station mall, saw the broadstripe booth, and decided to grab a flier. I called the representative to ask a few questions about their services. I then called my original ISP trying to work with them rather than deal with the hassle of switching. I got nowhere and scheduled my cancellation. I called the broadstripe representative back and said we were switching to their company. The day of installation: I was quoted a time between 8 and 11. I had bad memories of my first ISP giving me a 4 hour window and then being 2 hours late! Imagine my surprise when at 8:15 I got a call from the service tech saying he'd be at my house in 5 minutes. Less than 30 seconds later he pulled in the driveway! He went out, took a look at our wiring, and ran some additional cable. He came back inside and we rebooted my modem and router to see if the system worked. After a few minutes on the phone with broadstripe headquarters my network was up and running. The whole experience took less than an hour and the service tech was knowledgeable, clean, and friendly. Overall The switch was extremely smooth, saving me roughly $25 per month. All of the people I dealt with were extremely pleasant and the Internet speed is comparable to what I had before. I'd definitely go with Broadstripe again if given the choice.

Broadstripe is our only cable option in our area and it would be a big investment for me to try and switch. Everything was fine until they wanted me to bundle my phone with them and the internet and phone went out. No one had checked the line to make sure it could handle the extra service and since I had no way to communicate with them, with no phone or internet services, I had to drive out to them to let them know what was going on. Once they knew about the problem they did fix it right away and the technicians are great. It just made me angry that no one checked in the first place. I do like the program they offer where if I bring them five receipts from local businesses, they take $20.00 dollars off my bill for the month. I will continue my services through Broadstripe LLC.

Like I said above, the phone did not work more than it did, and the internet was very slow and would disconnect as soon as the phone rang even though it was going through the cable. I had internet and phone service disconnected after several service techs came out and it still was not fixed. Then they disconnected my TV too. Called could not reconnect the TV for a week, then got a late notice after it was connected 1 week, they disconnected my cable again. The account was current, after 6 phone calls it was squared away with much frustration on my end. This week, 1 month later another late notice and woke up this morning and my cable is disconnected again. How can I be past due when I pay my bill in full every month, by the due date. Arghhh.... so frustrating. So now I have to call these people again. If it wasn't for the fact that I don't need a dish on my roof or a box at every TV I would cancel this whole thing in a heart beat. What a real inconvenience, all for trying to be a good paying on time customer. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Description of Work: I have had Broadstripe for many years for cable, switched to there Bundle W/ Internet and phone over 1 year ago. Phone rarely worked, internet worked until the phone rang. Technicians were out many times to fix, never able to fix it so I finally cancelled everything but the cable.

I moved into a Condo in the Glen Burnie Area not serviced by Comcast. I contacted Broadstripe and wanted Cable, Internet and telephone. One Tech arrived two hours late and stated he was only told about one TV on two. The Condo had new carpet and he started pulling up the carpet to run the cable lines - the do not drill holes or anything else they just push it under the carpet. They only run one telephone line anything else is your problem. The Tech stated the company does not believe in wireless because they are trying to protect us. WHO DOES NOT HAVE WIRELESS IN THIS DAY AND AGE - even my Iphone has wireless. The offer a life time rate but it is higher then the normal rate. The Tech stated they were going to have On Demand for their cable by Fall. Winter is almost here and they are still working on getting On Demand. THIS IS A THIRD RATE COMPANY. I am still with Broadstripe but am looking to change and I would not recommend them to anyone else.

Broadstripe has been difficult at best since the onset. Telephone and Internet service goes out on a regular basis. Thank goodness we have cell phones. They do not return service calls. Each customer service rep. has a different answer to the same question. No one communicates to anyone else. No one is in charge. One department will pass you off to the other just to get rid of you. They have incorrectly quoted prices, lost paper payments (they're not set up for e-payments), they wiped out a year and a half of recordings from our DVR (a service that costs $18/mo), and have no interest in "making things right" w/ their customers. They refuse to admit error on their part. If there was competition for connectivity service in our area, it wouldn't matter so much, but we have no choices where we are at present-- and Broadstripe knows it. The motivation to improve service just isn't there, because we are their prisoner. In case it isn't clear, we are VERY disappointed w/ this company, and would warn other potential customers very far away. It's not worth the pain and headache.

I discovered that my HD channels were not working properly on Friday 10/23/09 around 10pm. I called Saturday morning to get the problem fixed. I was told that I needed a Technician to come out. The earliest appointment was Tuesday 10/27/09 between 8am and 11am. The technician showed up at my house about 11:30am, late of course. He called dispatch and read them the numbers from my cablecards, I have a TivoHD. Now keep in mind I'm sitting right next to him as he uses his Nextel on speakerphone. The female's first response was, "I don't even know how his cards are working, there not in the system." When I explained to the technician that I've been using the cablecards for about year, the dispath worker tells the technician that my account isn't supposed to have HDTV service. So lets think about this, I called customer service to fix channels that I have never had? Next the technician and the dispather decide that the channels I'm not getting are part of a tier that I don't get. I then explained to the technician that I've been getting the channels for months and I showed him the channel lineup from their website. How can BroadStripe employees that don't even know what services I subscribe to actually fix my problem? A customer takes off work and BroadStripe sends people that don't even know what my service is supposed to be. Well after about a hour of standing around waiting and infrequently talking to dispath, the technician declared, "There is nothing I can do, she'll call you when she has it fixed." He did nothing, absolutely nothing, all he did was talk on the phone. Why did I need to be here for this? Boy I'm sure glad I took off work to for this, Lord only knows how bad my situation would have been without someone there to talk on the phone for me. Around 1:30pm I tried to call the Technician to get some information. He didn't answer. So then I called 877-882-7623. I eventually spoke to Shannon who was supposed to be a supervisor. She assured me that they would get it fixed. At 5:40pm my problem was still not resolved so called again. Boy it was great having to reexplain my problem again and again. Shannon was gone. I was sent to Tech Support. Scott in Tech Support was the first person that actually tried to help me. We did more together than the "Technician" did earlier. However as of about 6:30pm, I got off the phone with Scott and my cable was still not working properly. At this point my entire day was a complete bust. What was the point of being home all day? Wednesday afternoon at 1:30pm I decided to give it another shot. I ended up talking to Tony who identified himself as the Tech Support Lead. He was the lest helpful of all. He tells me that I need a technician to come out to replace my cablecards. I asked him, "It the answer is so obvious why didn't that happen when I took off work the previous day. He had no answer. He just acted as if it was standard operating procedure to waste their customer time. He seemed like it was okay to operate this way. He asks, "What do want me to do?" "Fix my cable," I said. "I called Saturday, took off work Tuesday, had a technician at my house and now its Wednesday and I still have the same problem" I said. Tony expected me to wait until Tuesday for another technician visit. I tell him that waiting over a week to get my problem fixed is complete BS. He says he'll try for something earlier. Tony tells me to expect a call back in a about a hour. At 5pm there was predictably no word from Tony. I call again and speak to Ryan. He tries to contact someone to help me. However BroadStripe doesn't seem to hire competent technical support personnel. Ryan tells me that since BroadStripe changed their system there have been a lot of cablecard problems. Of course the dynamic duo on Tuesday didn't seem to know this. On the bright-side Ryan did fix my bill. In true BroadStripe style, it turns out BroadStripe had completely screwed up my bill and was over charging me by $50. Thankfully BroadStripe at least has one person that works in customer service.

I am so very glad I tried Broadstripe. I had completely had it with another cable/Internet provider - their constant rate increases, their missed service calls, and their inability to install anything correctly, show up on time or fix it if they screwed up. By those standards, Broadstripe probably would have won just by showing up and making the TV work. But not only did the guy show up on time, he quickly hooked up our sets and our Internet service without any issues - he was even prepared to drill a hole to install the cable to the front room. And then, a couple days later, someone called to make sure we were happy with our service. When we weren't around to answer the call, they called us back to check again. Wow, real customer service. I haven't experienced that in years with the other cable/Internet provider. That was it. No problems since. Cable works fine, Internet works fine - everything is great. Rates are about average, probably a little lower. I miss the other cable/Internet provider's on demand service, but not enough to ever deal with them again now that I have an alternative. Good job, Broadstripe.
