We're glad that your appointment with Kevin was so positive!
The crew was very thorough and professional and went beyond my expectations. Our priority was safety and they honored that by their work. After replacing the support beams, they carefully inspected the deck and identified areas needing repairs. In addition to replacing some of the boards, they tightened deck screws and fixed some pop up or loose boards. Although it was not mentioned in the contract, they also repaired and tightened lattice work around the bottom of the deck. They were great about completing the work in time for the pressure washing that had been scheduled for June 5th.
Description of Work: Replaced deck support beams that were rotting at their bases.and replaced some deck boards. They also went over the entire deck and secured screws and fixed any pop up or loose boards.

After several floods (and identifying the source, so we won't have it again) we decided on a major remodel - gutting and remodeling our basement. Clarksville was terrific to work with from beginning to end. They walked me through every stage and while there were hiccups as there always are, they were incredibly responsive and reasonable. I am thrilled with how the basement turned out and we use it much more now than ever before. The only challenge to working with them is the cost - they were higher than others I interviewed. But I ended up choosing them because I felt sure they weren't going to cheat me. That certainty was worth the extra money.

Excellent in all cases. The work was not the lowest bid, but the quality FAR outweighed the cost, in each case. All work done was of exceptional quality, professionally administered, and left clean when finished.

Thank you so much for your business! We appreciate your kind words and look forward to working with you again in the future.
Sure glad I looked on Angies List and found Clarksville Construction when we decided to do something with our unfinished basement. From the initial contact with Adam, to the final walk through with the crew chief Gimer, everyone was a pleasure to work with. I didn't "shop around" for price, so I can't comment on that other than to say it seemed reasonable. They were always on time, occasionally working late days to keep to their initial schedule. That ended up being extended a few days as we came up with additions and modifications to the original design, which they were always glad to accommodate. This even included a few which had nothing to do with the original project (like replacing the exhaust fan and toilet in the master bedroom). I couldn't believe how quickly they got things done, and was extremely impressed with the quality of their work. The final product, our new basement, looks far better than I could have imagined. I recommend them without reservation for any home improvement project. I can't imagine a company that does better work or was easier to deal with.

They were an excellent team to deal with from start to finish. Good price, great communication, very responsive, and all of the workmen who came to our house were very professional and considerate, and cleaned up carefully after each step of the process. We would definitely use them again, plus would give them our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: Clarksville Construction did two jobs for us -- one to finally fix the wallboard over our upstairs shower, and then to do a kitchen backsplash. We had had someone else try to fix the shower wall, but it was just not a waterproof solution and the wallboard kept molding. Clarksville Construction put in a waterproof board and then tiled over it. It looks great and (finally) is waterproof. The kitchen backsplash also looks great.

Clarksville Construction's bid was the highest bid of the three bids I obtained for this work. The total cost difference was about 1%. Clarksville Construction did an expert job of removing the old flooring and sub-flooring, which turned out to be VERY difficult because the chipcore sub-flooring broke apart in small pieces AND the existing cabinets were mounting on top of that sub floor. The demolition took two days when it was originally estimated at 0.5 days (four hours). Regardless, they did not cut any corners, take any shortcuts or increase the price of the job even though this was a noteworthy and unexpected schedule overrun. In the original consultation they informed me that they could not make the flooring joints match the flooring in the rest of the house. However, the workers and foreman figured out how to make it match when they started the job. This extra quality added to the total time necessary to do the job and they did not increase the cost of the job. Clarksville Construction also ran into some other challenges with the room that are normal for an existing home but still create problems for installers. The foreman had the experience necessary to help the team properly overcome those obstacles. Also there were some unusual corners, and doorways that required a little creativity to properly joint to the new flooring. They asked me what I expected or wanted to do about those items. Since I have some manual skills and experience, we were able to work together to find solutions for these fit and finish issues that were easy to implement and turned out quite well. We all worked and collaborated together as a team for the best results, (the President, the Operations Manager, the Project Manager, the Office Manager, the Foreman, and all four of the Installers) . I have not experienced this level of collaboration from EVERY member of a construction team previously. They cleaned up and left the job site as I would have if I did the work myself. Well done.
Description of Work: Remove 3 layers of old flooring and sub flooring, install new REAL plywood sub flooring, and install tongue and groove hardwood flooring - matching the joints to the hardwood flooring in the rest of the house.

We had mixed results with these guys. On the one hand, the finshed product looked fine. Nice new front door. But the process to get there was not smooth. We had a very firm budget and were extremely clear about this. They didn't really seem to undertand this or try very hard to work with us. We went back and forth and back and forth on numbers. In the end, we were still $50 over the budget. Which is not much, but it's the principle of the thing given what we said from the very beginning. The timing on this wasn't exactly ideal either. We said from the beginning we needed the door in place as quickly as possible. We met with the sales rep in Feb, the door was not installed until the end of April, given factory order time and weather delays. More transparency up front that this would take 6-8 weeks (not the 4 weeks the rep said) would have been better. Also, the second rep who came out to scope the job found that other elements had not been considered earlier. Given the size of the door, new drywalling and casing on top would be required. So again, it felt like a bit of a bait and switch. Part of this job included a small repair to our back door threshold as well. The quote noted they would use new material, but they ended up using the old threshold, which is fine and which is what we figured would work. But the quote included--and we paid for (!) new material. The crew that showed up to do the actual work were more than an hour late--and we did not get any heads up. This is after confirming with them the day before that they would be at our house at 8 AM. We had arranged our household morning logistics around this arrival time so it was frustrating. And the crew were new faces yet again. So all total for this relatively small job, we had 3 different people to deal with. We have no issues with the end product and the actual crew did a great job. But the process was not as smooth as it has been for us with other contractors.
PROS: People executing the work are fantastic. Polite, on time, quality work, clean up everything before leaving. Quick turn from Clarksville Sales (Garth) when asking for additional work to be done on short notice. ex: Asked if office could be painted prior to carpet installation and they did with 2 days notice, this was fantastic. Megan and Beth are very responsive via the email and online tool/system. Guarantee of services is a great way to feel confidence in the word being done Final walk through with Quelvin was not rushed, he highlighted issues we didn't see and very focused on our satisfaction. Carpet in office had a manufacturer's defect. It was re-installed completely to fix the issue. These things happen and Quelvin from Clarksville helped us resolve this. CONS: We never really knew what time workers were coming on days that work was planned. We had to always call and ask, and sometimes the time given wasn't the time that workers arrived. You have to proactively push to get this information yourself, rather than Clarksville themselves being proactive and giving you this information. This is an easy project management issue for Clarksville to resolve in their processes. The initial quote was made with very basic materials. If we wanted any upgrade to those basic materials, there was a significant increase in cost. If you want higher end materials in your home, would suggest you add 15-20% to the initial quoted figure to make sure your budget is appropriately set. The main issues we had weren't actually with Clarksville construction. There were more with the flooring company that they outsource work with. A+ carpet and flooring was the subcontractor. Again, their installers and workers were fantastic. However, going into the store was problematic when making selections for the following reasons: 1. The sales people did not know pricing off the top of their heads nor did they search for that info on the spot. 2. We asked for comparable options to what was quoted, but what we ended up selecting was much more expensive and we were not given any insight to that until later. The sales person, in my view, misinformed us on possible pricing, and as such our expectations were blown out of the water when the final quote came back. Never fun to feel that way and be so surprised. Sales people should know the prices of their materials, or have access to them easily, especially if there is a huge difference between the basic materials quoted (which he was aware of). This is not a good sales service, it makes you feel like you are being manipulated into getting much higher priced product, when you thought you were looking at comparable materials. 3. We originally wanted to refinish wood floors in the office but realized it wasn't in good enough condition and ended up selecting carpet. The response from A+ was that it would be the same price for the carpet we selected in store. THis shocked me because I know refinishing wood floors is more labor intensive and should be more expensive When I pushed back asking for a breakdown, there actually was a savings (a bit under $200) to get carpet instead of refinishing the wood. Unfortunately if I had not asked for the breakdown and information, I would not have gotten the fair price for it. That is not appropriate in my view. 4. While the wood we selected way in advance for the basement arrived much earlier than expected (a huge benefit) it was not at all the same color (MUCH darker) than the actual samples in the store. Not only did the store have a standard sample, they had that specific floor installed so customers could see what it looks like. We were told that different batches may have different colors. We made a choice to install it anyways even though it was so different. The wood was nice and I did not want to delay another month to have my basement done, but this was a major disappointment for us. Not Clarksville's fault, and not the wonderful installers' fault. I could have returned it and gotten something else, but it was too much trouble. I think some minor color differences might be normal, but this was simply different wood, even if same name and brand. The quality of the work was really great, but disappointed we didn't get what we originally wanted. Overall Clarksville construction is a solid contractor. They are responsive, have modern tools to manage projects and definitely want to resolve any issues that come up. I would hope that they give regular feedback to their contractors, especially when it impacts customer expectations, cost and product quality. I recommend that you use Clarksville, but make sure to stay on top of pricing beyond estimated materials, make sure you get times that work is expected to start in advance, and ABSOLUTELY get details on pricing from contractors if you are switching out materials - especially if they tell you same price.

[member name removed], Thank you so much for your positive words. We are happy to hear you were pleased with the work done for you and we look forward to working with you again. Thank you!
I had torn out the powder room over a year ago with the thought that I could redo it and after some trouble with our guest bathroom started to show, we decided to have everything fixed once and for all. I chose Clarksville Construction through Angie's List, but had reservations because of other highly rated services I had used that turned out to be less than stellar. I shouldn't have worried. The first impression was very good because they were prompt for the estimate appointment (which no other place I made an appointment could do). This was important because we had a timeline to get everything completed before a guest came to stay with us and I figured any place that cannot be prompt for an estimate may not get the job finished in time. Clarksville Construction completed everything on time and before our guest arrived. We actually weren't prepared for a remodel when we decided to get it done. We hadn't put much thought into what we wanted to do or install. After all of the places we met with suggested tile instead of replacing the plastic tub surround (due to various long-term issues with a cheap plastic surround), we had to suddenly figure out what we wanted to do. When we decided to go with Clarksville, they gave us a list of suppliers that we could go to in order to choose what tile we wanted to choose and it wasn't a problem that we wanted tile from two different places. They were also very flexible with what fittings, accessories we wanted to get. They just gave me deadlines that they needed a decision made on various items and everything was put in without delays. I made one error when I ordered the tub fittings (I ordered "brushed chrome" when I had meant "chrome"), and before I could even convey that to the office (I had brought it up to one of the workers) they had already ordered a new set despite the fact that the error was mine. We are quite pleased with both rooms and have already had three guests stay over since the remodel and everybody has been very happy about the "new" bathroom (the guests have all stayed with us before the remodel as well, so they knew the difference). Regarding price, they weren't much more that the other places I met with, and one of my neighbors who remodeled his bathroom a couple years ago said that the price I paid was the same as he did for only one bathroom. So I definitely cannot complain about the price, particularly since they did such a good job. The only issue we had was one of cultural issues. My wife (Japanese) does not want anything that has touched the ground outside to touch the floor inside. The workers put down dropcloths for the hall and major areas they walked, but then would walk into other rooms (to set aside equipment or stuff like toilets/vanities) or downstairs (to shut off electricity/water) without dropcloths, which defeated the purpose of the dropcloth in the first place. After the fist day I asked that they put down plastic covering, and when I came home I saw that they had covered all of the furniture. I had failed to explain why we wanted covering so there were some misunderstandings. We plan to use Clarksville Construction again (for master bathroom and kitchen), and either I will put down floor covering for the whole house, or my wife will have to take an extended vacation during that time.
Description of Work: Remodeled guest bathroom (changed tub and fittings, removed plastic tub surround and replaced it with tile, replaced floor tile, repainted room) and rebuilt powder room (installed sound deadening, drywall, floor, vent fan, lighting, moved outlet, vanity, mirror, and various fixtures).

They said that they gave us an Angie's List discount, without explanning what the discount was or if we had truley received it. They did a good job as far as the painting goes.
We eventually got there, but the road was pretty bumpy. The initial time estimate was less than two weeks. They started mid November and were still in and out in late December. The initial work was in a small guest bathroom that we needed finished before company arrived. Plus, it was to be our working bathroom during the bigger phase of the project. On the first night it was 'finished' a late night trip to the bathroom discovered that the toilet had not been reseated or reinstalled. It was a wobbly, leaky mess. They were quick to repair it, but it never should have happened. We made a few minor changes to the project (move an outlet, don't install a second medicine cabinet, etc.) and those were handled quickly and easily. There were no problems with the electrical changes in the project. Their efforts to keep the dust and mess down were very effective. They have a high tech web interface to facilitate communication with the client. Even with this online project calendar, we were sometimes left guessing when things would be happening. The vanity and top were too wide and extended into the wall. They attempted to shave it down to make it fit, but that left the sinks butted up to the wall. To their credit, they replaced the materials with a much better and more professional fit. it was a full court press that day with representatives from their plumbing and painting groups. We had an unexpected surprise a month later when we discovered three or four inches of water in a bin that we keep under the sink. It turned out that the plumbing drain had not been connected to one of the dual sinks. If that bin had not been there, it would have destroyed the brand new vanity. Billing was another issue. We did not receive the first invoice after our initial deposit. They called and sent an email invoice. Then there was a call later wanting to come get a check that afternoon and we were not available. We sent a check the next morning . The final payment had similar problems. We received an email invoice and sent a check the next morning. That afternoon, someone who did not know we got an email called and wanted to come get the check. Their front office sounds confusing to me. We have never had interior home improvements done before and will never do it again.

This was a complicated remodeling because we had to deal with the insurance company (which was a nightmare in itself) because of flooding in the lower level. Adam is a nice personable owner of the company. His workers were very quick, efficient, and nice (with the exception of the project manager). An important part of doing a good job is the project manager. I gave this company the rating I did because the project manager we worked with walked out on us, a client. We had a disagreement and I suggested we together call Adam to resolve it. The project manager simply said he had enough, refused to discuss anything else and walked away. In my entire life dealing with people of all personalities, I found it completely unprofessional to simply walk away from a client. This was not the only incident in which the project manager was very unprofessional.
Description of Work: Completely re-did the lower level, consisting of a kitchen, dining area, living room, den, and bathroom. It included carpeting, wood flooring, drywall, paneling, kitchen counter, and painting.

I am extremely pleased with my experience with Clarksville. They were professional, responsive, very hard working, neat, and very skilled. The project was completed ahead of time and for the amount stated in the contract plus a few change orders I added as we went along. The end result is amazing -- their installers and craftsmen are top notch. Here are a few things I particularly appreciated. The planning process was very detailed, and included several visits to our home to talk through what we wanted, the challenges presented by our kitchen, suggestions for getting a better result, and to measure, measure, measure. When it came time to sign the contract, it was very detailed about what was and was not included because of the detailed planning process, and several options were built into the contract so we knew up front what the cost would be if we wanted to add special touches. We were very comfortable with the contract process, and the price was what we had expected and in line with what others in our neighborhood had paid for similar projects. We did not shop around for the lowest price (we usually would, particularly for a project this size) because quality and an on-time completion were important to us and Clarksville came highly recommended not just by Angie's List but also by our interior designer and the vendors we worked with for flooring, cabinets, and countertops. Clarksville has an online calendar that we found very useful. We could see weeks in advance what work was going to be done on which day. We were usually also told a day or two in advance who would be at our house and what time they would be arriving. This made it so much easier to plan our lives. The calendar was part of a larger system that also kept track of our selections for cabinetry, faucets, tile, etc., and our change orders. Everything was well tracked and transparent, and there were no surprises. Communication in general was excellent -- our phone calls and emails were answered promptly, usually within a couple of hours. We added a number of things to our project. Clarksville was very accommodating. They were very responsive to our requests for pricing, and gave us good advice about the best way to get what we wanted. Several times they suggested alternatives that saved us money, which we appreciated. And throughout, they checked with me on many details to make sure that the work was being done they way we wanted it. Most of the crew who worked on our job were Clarksville employees, which meant that Clarksville could tell me with a fair amount of certainty that their plumber or their electrician or their painters would be at my house at a certain time (so we weren't left wondering if an independent contractor was going to be available or tied up on other jobs). It also meant that the crew was very friendly, polite, skilled, and neat. They treated our house with a lot of respect, covering everything and taking care not to cause damage. I particularly appreciated the care they took to seal off our kitchen from the rest of the house to minimize the amount of dust that spread to the rest of the house. The guys worked really hard, often arriving by 7:30 am, taking a quick 20 minute break mid-day, and working until 6:30 pm. There is much more I appreciated, but I'll end with one final example: Clarksville went out of its way to minimize disruption to our lives while we were without a kitchen. They waited until the last minute to move our washer and dryer and re-installed them as soon as possible so we would have use of them. They gave us access to our garage through our kitchen as soon as possible, and made sure it would be safe for us to walk through the work site. They stored materials carefully so that we could park in half of our garage. Even before the project was done, they made sure we had working sinks so we could start using the kitchen again. They were very customer-focused and very thoughtful. So now I find myself spoiled for any other contractors. I am having a different company do some interior painting for me, and it was probably a mistake not to go with Clarksville. Although this other company is well rated on Angie's List and we have used them before very successfully, and although this other company is doing a great job, I find that I keep comparing them to Clarksville and they aren't measuring up. They are taking longer to finish the job, I had to point out a couple of places to be re-done that Clarksville's excellent painters would have taken care of themselves in the first place, they don't work as hard, and they aren't as neat. They are a very good company, but Clarksville has raised the bar so high.
Description of Work: Clarksville completely remodeled our kitchen. They assisted us with the design, demolished our old kitchen and hauled away the debris, moved pipes, added electrical outlets, moved existing lighting and installed additional lighting, installed new cabinetry, coordinated with another vendor to install new flooring and another to install new countertops, installed new appliances, and painted the room. They also did a variety of projects for us, such as installing a large chandelier in our great room, fixing a railing, and installing a door to a utility closet.

We are thrilled that you are happy with your kitchen and so glad we were able to work with your budget. We appreciate your business and will look forward to working with you again in the future. Thank you!
We purchased a split-level house in July with the intention of renovating the entire top floor. Having never done any construction projects before, we really had no idea what to expect. We started calling some different companies on Angie's List -- it was surprisingly hard just to find anyone who would answer the phone. Then we called Clarksville Construction, and not only did they answer, they were professional and friendly and we were able to schedule an appointment with Adam the same week. Adam arrived on time, and he very quickly understood what we were trying to do. He provided a detailed estimate within a week as promised. We had several questions for them, which they answered quickly and thoroughly. We decided go with Clarksville for the project, and they came out to our house and went over the entire plan in detail before starting. Just a couple days after that, a crew was at our house getting started. We were confident after our first meeting that they would do a great job, and they consistently delivered. All of the workers were extremely respectful of our house and took great care to protect everything during the entire project -- they did much more than expected in that regard. All of the people on their team had great attitudes and worked hard until the job was done. We felt they were genuinely happy to have our business. I'm sure we could have done the project cheaper, but it wouldn't have been worth it. Clarksville did not cut corners and did everything the right way. Anyone could have just slapped on a couple coats of paint, but these guys spent an entire week just prepping the drywall and fixing any imperfections -- we were very impressed. Overall, I believe this led to a much better finished product and was completely worth it. I can't say enough good things about Clarksville Construction. They were always professional, on time, and committed to getting our project done right. There were also no surprises in terms of cost -- everything they quoted was exactly what we paid, and any changes we requested were submitted as change orders with an exact dollar amount which we were able to approve before they were started. With so many horror stories out there about home renovations, it is refreshing to see a company that is nothing like that. We have several more projects we'd like to tackle, like our bathrooms and a complete basement renovation. We will definitely be calling them again when the time comes. I would highly recommend Clarksville Construction to anyone who needs construction services. Their pricing was reasonable, but if you value quality, reliability, and professionalism over just getting the lowest bid, go with Clarksville. You can literally just tell them what you want done and be completely confident they'll get it done right for you the first time.
Description of Work: Paint, flooring, and wall removal.

Thank you SO much for the glowing review. We are thrilled that you are happy with your project. We appreciate your business and will look forward to working with you again in the future
It was a wonderful experience. The project leader was totally responsive. The team members did a terrific job - the site was kept clean EVERY day. The workers were courteous and pleasant. The workmanship was first rate. There is not one thing that could have been done better than it was. The management folks at the office that quoted the job etc were just as professional and responsive. The entire process was great and we're so pleased with the outcomes! Thank you so much!
Description of Work: A complete updating of our unfinished garage (walls finished, painted, items moved out and back in, new steps, new railings, painting etc etc. ) Also the addition of a "tubular skylight" in our bathroom.

The project went very smoothly. The estimate was timely and reasonable and the work was completed sooner than we had anticipated. Adam, the owner of the company, did the work because he had a great deal of experience with Anderson window repairs. He was very neat and the repairs were excellent. A few days later two of his workers came and touched up paint in several areas. As in our previous experience with Clarksvile, we found all of the workers and staff personnel easy to communicate with and very good at their jobs. There is always a follow up to make sure you are satisfied with the job after it is completed. They strive for excellence and customer satisfaction and do a great job at both.
Description of Work: We had the balances replaced in five windows and more extensive repairs done for one window that would not open properly.

I had thought these guys had done a good job originally. They agreed to a job that was around $2100K. Once they had already cut into my house creating a giant hole from the interior to the exterior, they said that the job was bigger than they thought and they would have to add on $4-5K of work. What was I supposed to do at that point with the back half of my house exposed? Tell them no, just forget about it and leave my house with a giant hole in it? I had no choice but to agree to the additional amount because at that point, they had cut out a giant hole in the back of my house and I needed the hole to be closed. Part of this job included fixing a double-door that goes from my living room to the desk. The double-door that was hard to open. They said it was due to the water leak and that they could fix it. I was told I needed new flashing, new siding, new cedar siding, new caulking, new paint, and that the leak was coming in due to a door being installed improperly and missing flashing. I went along with all of their recommendations. Now I can't open the double-door at all. Before it was hard to open, now it's impossible to open. In fact in trying to open the door, the door cracked so I gave up on trying to open it. There is no possible way to open the door. When the door is shut, you cannot turn the dead-bolt because the dead-bolt is not lined up properly. This door worked better before I paid them to "fix" it. Cutting to the chase, this past weekend I found water in my basement in the exact spot that I had pointed out to them when they first came over to give me the estimate. The leak is not fixed. In fact, the leak was not coming from outside the house. I hired a plumber who identified it as an internal leak due to an issue with a pipe that had an improper fitting on it. So even if the flashing, and door installation etc.. was not optimal or proper, basically, that was not the source of the leak. Water was running down inside the wall and was coming from a pipe. I had suggested to the original estimator (Kevin Youngblood) that he should take into consideration that the leak could be coming from an internal pipe. However, he didn't check anything related to pipes insisting that the leak was due to a door being improperly installed. I had originally believed Clarksville Construction that the leak was fixed, and then hired them to do additional painting 6 months later at the cost of an additional $2,000. However, within a few weeks of the painting being finished, the painting work is now ruined because water started leaking in to the house in the same spot. I called Clarksville Construction immediately when the leak was occurring and they were not apologetic in any way. They told me to call ServePro and said there was nothing they could do about it. I turned off the water to my entire house. On the following Monday, I called a plumber to see if he could identify the cause of the leak. The plumber identified the leak as coming from improper plumbing fittings and he had to replace several pipes and had to cut 3 different holes in my ceiling to fix the leak. The leak has been fixed, thanks to the plumber, but there are still 3 holes in my ceiling. Clarksville Construction took down the blinds in my living room when they were painting. Now the blinds will not stay up at all. Both blinds continue to come crashing down. I'm having the company that installed the blinds come back over and re-install them. These blinds cost around $500.00. I told Clarksville Construction about the blinds and they said nothing...not even an apology. 3 days after the plumber had fixed the leak, two guys from Clarksville Construction came over to my house. This is now 5 days from the day the leak occurred. The two guys were Adam August (company owner) and Garth Finney (a new employee). Garth was personable and told me that I would be so happy with the company's resolution, that I'd be wanting to sit down and have coffee with him. Adam August looked as the leak area and said that it was a new and different leak, and not the same as the leak they had fixed. I'd like to point out that Mr. August never saw the original leak from inside my basement and this was the first time he had looked at the work area. I told him that the water was in the exact same spot as it was when they first came over to give the original estimate. He kept insisting it was a new leak caused by something else. I showed him how the door wouldn't open and he said I should have reported it sooner. I told him that I seldom use the door and only tried opening it the week before Christmas when I tried to open it to bring in a Christmas tree and discovered it wouldn't open. The entire time they were working on my house, I can't remember how many times I was told that they gave a 5 year warranty. Even though I have reported these problems to them, they have not offered to take responsibility for any of these issues. After coming over to see the new damage caused by the leak, they sent me a proposal to do further work at a further cost to me. They refused to fix the doors (which they had already fixed once) unless I paid them more money. Their proposal suggested I pay them to cut holes into my attic and around my gutters so that they could investigate for further leaks. They did not offer to fix the doors that don't open. They did not offer to repair the drywall caused by the leak. Their 5 year warranty is hogwash. They didn't offer to take any responsibility for the leak and leak damage. They only offered to sell me more services. Originally they had said that in order to prevent the leak, I should put in new siding, new Tyvek, new caulking etc.. etc.. They replaced some wood that was rotten as a result of the leak, but that was secondary to actually fixing the leak. The primary thing I wanted done was to have the leak fixed. The suggested fixing a load-baring floor joist, and I agreed to it, but then found out that they never obtained the requisite building permit. Fixing the damage caused by the leak was always secondary. They kept trying to point out more and more stuff that I should have fixed suggesting that it would help prevent the leak from recurring. Since none of the $7,000 worth of work they did to fix the leak actually fixed it, they basically sold me services that were not needed. When they were at my house working on the leak, they actually never did any research into investigating if the leak was coming from any pipes because they claimed to be so sure it was coming from the sill of the door. There was rotten wood under the sill of the door, but it was rotten because water was coming from a pipe, through the wall, and trickling down to that exact spot. The only person at the company who was somewhat conciliatory was Garth but I think that is because Garth did not work for the company when the original work occurred, and obviously had nothing to do with the original work. At first I thought that perhaps the fact that their repair did not fix the leak was simply human error. They made the wrong judgement call. However, since they were so unapologetic and took no responsibility to resolve the situation, and did not honor their so called 5 year warranty, and only suggested I buy more services from them, I now believe that they were disingenuous and deceptive from the get go. I don't think they actually have any plumbers on staff even though I was told they did. I think they are not capable of determining if a leak is due to an internal pipe or an external construction issue. This is a company that does external construction work. They should have been up front about it saying that plumbing was not part of their core competency. I had interviewed several other contractors who were more honest saying that they could not be sure where the leak was coming from. It was very disappointing to me that they would not honor their 5 year warranty on anything -- the water leak, or the door installation. I've now had to hire several more contractors to fix the work that they did incorrectly. I feel that I should have asked to see their license and their insurance. I could not be more sorry that I ever hired these people to do work on my house. They are a company that tries to sell you more than you need. Since the services that they sold did not fix the original problems, naturally I am very disappointed.
Description of Work: I hired them to fix a leak...water was leaking into my house to the basement. When the job estimator came over, I showed him water stains on the drywall, and evidence of water on my basement floor.
