It Went well. The only negative I had was the response time from Town and Country to get my table leafs repairs (which were scratched and chipped). But they were picked up yesterday to be repaired.

The move went great. The 4 guys showed up on time, even a little early. They loaded everything into 2 trucks taking great care moving the furniture and the boxes that I had packed up. They even had to remove doors to get my refridgerator and freezers out to the trucks. They replaced all of the doors back to what they should have been. They did give me a warning of when they were going to start loading up the refridgerators and freezer so that I would have time to pack them up. They were able to load my house up in the 6 hours that they quoted. The only shanfu came when thier truck broke down on the way to the new house. They were able to get a tow truck to bring the broken down truck to the new house. In the meantime, they all piled into the working truk and came over to start unloading. We do have an intersting situation in that my mother-in-law was moving next door to her parent's house and we were moving into hers. The movers were gracious enough to move her furniture over as well as move out some furniture in the rooms that my mother-in-law was moving into. To end the night, we were swapping refridgerators and washer/dryers between houses, so they had to return to the original house (which is not on the market yet) to finish the swap. Through it all, they wre cheerful and professional even at 12:30am when they had finished.

Town and Country did an outstanding job from the initial estimate to the delivery and unloading of our goods. The estimator was knowledgeable and professional. The packers were careful and thorough. The loaders in Maryland and the unloaders in Arizona were equally careful and conscientious. All our goods and a small car were loaded in a van in Maryland and transported in the same van to Arizona. We experienced absolutely no loss, breakage, or damage. Everything was exceptionally carefully packed. All of the personnel were courteous and professional. Everything was on schedule; our goods arrived at our new home exactly on schedule. I can't imagine a better moving experience. Town and Country was on the higher end of the estimates we got, but they were worth every penny.

Originally, the appointment was in the afternoon, but she called me in the morning to see if we could do it earlier in the day instead. Luckily, I was still home so I agreed to do it earlier. The tour took about 20 minutes just like every other movers I had in the house. The only thing that left me with a first bad impression was when i politely asked her to remove her shoes, she looked really surprised and hesitated. Other than that, everything went ok. Their quote was on the high side so I didn't go with them considering that all the other overs I had come in were all grade A businesses.

They were very unprofessional and irresponsible. I am suppose to be moving out soon. When I asked for an estimate, they said they could give me a free estimate the next week. Which seemed like a really long time especially since I am moving out fairly soon. The morning they were suppose to come and give the estimate, they called me and said they couldn't come out and that they were completely booked. I am suppose to move really soon. Now I am stuck without a company. They completely led me on to believe that we were going to be working together, and then just dumped me. I can't believe they are highly rated on this list and that anyone run's a company in that manner. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Response from Town & Country Movers Inc
We are very sorry for your inconvenience. Unfortunately we called ahead of the estimate to say we were currently booked up for Long Distance moves. It was not until later that we learned you wanted to come into storage; which we could in fact accomodate. We did call back immediatedly upon discovering this fact, but were unable to reach you. We value each and every customer and potential customer, however we will never over book at the expense of delivering first class service to everyone. While we agree there was an initial mis-communication, we would have loved the opportunity to show you what Town & Country Movers is all about and why we do deserve the high ratings we have achieved for the last 6 years on Angie's List. Scheduling was easy and the men arrived at the promised time. The china, crystal, and other breakable items were expertly packed. Moving the books was just a question of loading them into cardboard boxes and moving the loaded boxes. We were charged $450.00 for labor (3 men, one hour), plus $150 travel time to come to the house, plus $135 for materials (boxes, wrapping paper, etc.), plus a $25 fuel surcharge. I was highly satisfied with the quality of the service and the professionalism of the men who performed the services. I would consider using them again, but I would likely get additional bids from alternative contractors.
Description of Work: Packed boxes of books and transported them to our basement, in preparation for painting bookshelves. Packed boxes of china, crystal, and silver articles, and moved them to our basement, in preparation for painting and refinishing dining room and related furniture. Three men worked for about an hour.

T&C was great. It is a bit pricey, but worth the piece of mind. They packed everything the day before and moved us out and in same day. Huge job with two trucks and 5 movers. Everthing went as planned. Paid slightly more than estimate because of all of our stuff. Worked hard straight through the day. Highly recomend.

A+ service, highly recommended. Town & Country Movers moved my family's household goods from the Washington, DC area to the Seattle, WA area. They did a great job, were punctual, professional, their estimate was right-on, and there were no surprises or hidden fees whatsoever. When we were getting moving esitmates from several companies, Town & Country was a step above in customer service and professionalism. Their moving coordinator came to our home to give us an estimate and explain their process, services, and pricing scale. We packed most of our own goods ourselves, but Town & Country had a set pricing scale for the specialty items we did not want to pack (framed pictures, HDTVs, etc). Their pricing scale for special-packing was very reasonable. On the day of the move, Town & Country arrived a little earlier than scheduled and immediately began work. They were very efficient and were able to load our entire townhouse on their truck between 9:30am and 3:00pm. We had additional items at a storage unit and they were able to stop there and emptied it out in an hour or so. They drove away from my storage unit at about 4:30pm, giving me plenty of time to do a last-check back at the house. When our goods arrived in Seattle, only one box had broken items inside, but that was because I didn't pack it well, not because they handled anything roughly. They were also right on time to unload our goods in Seattle, which we appreciated. Best of all, their moving coordinator's estimate was almost exactly right and there were no hidden or addtional charges that some moving companies will stick you with on the day of the move.

They showed up a few minutes early and were very quick. It was a very smooth move all around. The pricing was pretty much spot on for what they estimated over the phone. The one thing that they didn't do was tell me it'd be extra to move my big, flat-screen TV. Other than that, it was a seamless move.

We used Town & Country as recommended by a co-worker. We were moving from a townhome to a single family home. On the date of moving, they sent 4 movers with 2 large trucks. Movers carefully wrapped all our furniture with tapes and blankets. They were professional and polite. They worked fast but still being very careful with our belongings. The original estimated was 6 hours but it only took 4 hours from start to finish. Price was in the neighbourhood with other companies.

The drivers and packers in MD were excellent. I would give the one employees an A rating. The people who unpacked us in TN were terrible. They outsourced people who were not from their company. All of the boxes were marked, and I hung signs above each door to make it easier for them. Instead, they left all the boxes in the garage, and we ended up having to move them all ourselves. We had to remove our banister in order for them to move some furniture upstairs. The driver told us they wouldn't remove that banister themselves because they would be liable if it didn't go right, so he advised us to hire a carpenter. One of the movers then asked my husband if he would just pay him to remove the banister instead of us getting a carpenter, but my husband said no. When my husband left he then came to me and asked the same thing, so I again had to tell him no. One of the packers was waiting around for us to tip him and it was extremely uncomfortable. When one of the movers got here he asked if I had anything for his headache. I had extra strength 500 mg Tylenol and asked if he wanted one or two, and he asked for four. The company really needs to investigate the people they're outsourcing.

We hired Town and Country Movers, Inc. to move us out of our current home and to our in between home. They do still have most of our belongings in storage so price wise we don't have an overall total quite yet but felt they were fair in pricing thus far. We are pleased up to this point with the services they have provided for us and they have been very good.

As mentioned in the paragraph above, they showed up promptly on the day scheduled (despite Hurricane Sandy passing thru the DC area the day before) and they were flexible in storing my possessions for a few days because I couldn't sign my closing papers on the day scheduled. They took excellent care of our piano and so far we have not incurred any damage to our household items. Just an A-1 company in my opinion. Would not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: The company sent an estimator to my house weeks before the move. He was very professional and gave us several tips on preparing for the move. The best tip of all was to suggest that we could pack as many boxes as we could and we would save quite a bit of money on the move! I wasn't totally thrilled at the final cost of the move but had to concede that the company was very professional and efficient. The only minor complaint that I had was that they went ahead and removed a lot of underwear and socks from our bureaus and packed them in separate boxes when we had told them to leave the items in the bureaus. The company did give me some monetary compensation for this error, so I can't get too upset about it! But other than that I would still have to give them an "A" for overall performance. As a matter of fact they came on the day after Hurricane Sandy went thru the Washington area and packed us up on the first day and had everything in the van the following day. Many companies were closed for business on those 2 days but the movers showed up for work on the days scheduled. I was unable to move into my new house on the day scheduled because the title companies were closed. Despite this problem, the moving company put my items in storage and moved them a few days later when I was able to move into my new home. They also moved a piano (my wife's most prized possesion) and it is still in great working order and so far we have found only one or two minor breakages on fragile items. All in all, I would have to say they did a great job and I would not hesitate to call them again in the future.

l had a very positive experience with this company. They showed up on time (actually a bit early), and worked very fast at getting stuff out of my home and onto their truck, and then into my new home. Yet they were also very careful to avoid hitting my furniture against walls and so forth. They had some difficulty negotiating a narrow turn in a staircase in my home, but they dealt with it just fine. They were very polite and professional. I could not have been more pleased!

Overall, we were thrilled with the service and would highly recommend Town and Country to others.
Description of Work: We did a cross-country move of a 2BR townhouse from DC to Ohio with Town and Country and were very pleased. The estimate and final bill were entirely consistent -- and they were professional and personable. We were thrilled that they were able to do next-day delivery on a cross country move, and the crew (Kenny and Kenny) was great. They had 5 movers help with the pack-out/load which was done in a half day (packing breakables only).

The workers (three Hispanic men) caused damages to my personal property and to my old home. While I am not making claims against the moving company because the overall amount involved would be small, I have never suffered so much damage as in this move. (I used movers in 1998, in 2005 and in 2009.) 1. Although I put my pair of dumbbells in their cradle and then in a crate, the workers took them off the cradle and put them on top of a lamp shade in a box. While unpacking later, I found the lamp shade damaged. 2. Although I took the lamp shades from all lamps, the workers tried unsuccessfully to disassemble the lamp bodies. Later, I found one of the lamps broken so that I could not put a bulb back on. 3. The workers damaged one of my drawer chests. One of the sides have two holes now. 4. The workers tried unsuccessfully to take my home office desk apart, over my objection. Two of the desk legs were irreparably damaged. 5. The workers stuffed things under the front door to my old home as a door stop, and damaged the door sweep. 6. The workers damaged one of the closet doors. A piece of wood completely fell off. As should be clear from the list above, the workers generally disregarded my instructions and preferences in favor of their own "judgment." In addition, they incessantly complained, in Spanish and among themselves, of how heavy boxes with books were. They ended up putting one of the boxes with books in a wrong room. Althouh I provided the moving company with the map and the written directions to the new home, the workers did not have them. They showed up at my new home with my personal property late by more than half an hour. They then blamed the written directions, although all other service providers (i.e., Verizon worker, window tinting workers, Crate & Barrel delivery workers, plumbers, HVAC workers, NextDay Blinds workers) using the same directions find their ways without any difficulty. The cost noted in this review, $662 (including $100 in deposit), does not include a "tip" of $120, which I regret giving to the workers.

First I scheduled an appointment for an estimate. Blair arrived on time and didn't seem to find my need to combine furniture and move some to storage at all unusual. He was thorough and professional. I interviewed another company and decided that T&C was the one for me. I had several questions between scheduling and the actual move day. I always talked to Lisa. She was extremely helpful and friendly. Really liked working with her. The moving crew arrived on time and was supervixed by Martin. This crew was amazing. They were fast, curtious, professional, respectful of and careful with my things, and worked together as a team. I cannot say enough about Martin. Martin was also the driver and he was leading the team again in GA. He went above and beyond to make the move as fast and easy on me as possible. He watched everything to insure it all went smoothly. The crew arrived in Decatur even a little earlier than scheduled (that was great) and everything went just as smoothly in Decatur and delivering to storage as it did in Germantown.Town & Country is awesome and I would and have highly recommend them to anyone considering a move.
Description of Work: I moved from Germantown, MD to Decatur, GA. Part of my furniture/boxes was designated for storage. In Decatur furniture and boxes were removed from the new residence, also to go to storage and then my belonging moved in. Storage (a relatives's basement) is across town. Some of the furniture went upstairs to be used and the rest of the furniture and boxes designated for storage went to the basement.
