The received an estimate from Town and Country in which the representative comes to the house, looks at everything, and determines the size of the truck, number of crew needed, and estimates the time needed to complete the move. I got estimates from a total of 3 moving companies and selected Town and Country based on Angie's List reviews. I understand that in moving, the estimated number of hours is often lower than the actual number, and Town and Country warned me about this. HOWEVER, I had no idea the final cost would be 50% more than the estimate. I knew it was going to be bad when the crew arrived (on time) and the driver shook his head as he looked around our home. He said, "All of this is going in that truck?" Throughout the day, the driver repeatedly said, "I don't know if this is going to all fit, but I'll pack it tight." I will give him credit--he did pack it tight, which apparently added to the length of time they needed to complete the job. But they still ended up requesting a second truck late in the afternoon. Waiting for the truck added time to the move. The original estimate was for the job to take 8 1/2 hours--we ended up being charged for 12.75 hours (plus travel time). After we received the written estimate, we received the contract/agreement in the mail and we returned it with our deposit money. I had been told by the estimator that the company would call me around Tuesday before the move (we moved on a Friday) to confirm everything. No one called me so on Wednesday afternoon I called Town and Country and they were able to confirm the move was on their schedule. This is a small thing, but if a company says they are going to call and confirm, I expect them to do it without me having to follow up. They crew arrived on time the morning of the move and worked diligently and quickly. However, a few things were broken and it seems to me the breakage could have been avoided or at least the crew could have dealt with it more honestly. E.g., an office chair on wheels rolled off the truck as they were packing other things and it the street (I witnessed this from inside the house, but the crew never told me it happened). Now the mechanism that raises and lowers the chair doesn't work anymore. We had a decorative table in the shape of a dog, and the crew put it in a box without wrapping it well and it arrived broken. Then, they apparently took it with them, so now I can't even report the breakage to the company. The second truck brought many of our outdoor patio items, including a large garden clock on a stand. It went on the truck (apparently without any padding) and arrived in pieces. But instead of pointing this out, they stacked the clock back on its stand wobbly and placed the backplate on the deck next to it and left. It was dark when they unloaded this, so I wasn't able to see it until the next day. I saw that the backplate was off and when I went to replace it I realized the entire clock was no longer stable. I had accepted only the general liability coverage (60 cents per pound), so it's not even really worth it to file a claim. It's not about the money anyway--I just wish they would have been more careful and had told me about what happened. In fairness to the crew, they worked a MUCH longer day than they had been told they would (according to the driver). And also to their credit, they did try to get everything into the one truck. Perhaps this was just a "bad day" for Town and Country Movers, but I was left with an impression that was not very good. I hope that I do not have to move again any time soon, but if I do, I doubt it will be with Town and Country Movers. **UPDATE**--The owner was very responsive to my review and offered to refund some of the time billed due to the initial under-estimation. I appreciate the company making this right and have upgraded my overall rating from C to B based on this.

The sales manager who came to do the quote was very professional and punctual, provided a good level of detail and was not very pushy. I chose town and country because they had better pricing than competition and also were not nickel and diming with extra charges such as packing tape, etc that their competitor had. They were supposed to charge me a deposit, but did not get to it and told me it was ok - made me feel like they are a trust-worthy bunch of people. I received phone calls 3 days before the move and the day before to make sure we were ready and to go over details. The crew showed up on time and ready to go. They were very efficient and still took great care of all our stuff. Very professional and cordial. Worked fast without wasting time, but did not rush. Even though we disassembled most furniture items, and packed most things in boxes, the crew members had to take additional things apart, such as removing shelves from book cases - and they carefully packed all the hardware to make sure everything arrived to the new place. Overall, everything was done to meet or exceed our expectations. Our original estimate was 7 to 8 hours, and our move was finished in 5; this included loading, travel from old place to the new house and unloading. Needless to say we were happy with the results and would certainly recommend Town & Country to other people.

Very pleased with Carlos and crew. They worked steadily, did not take breaks, and worked well together. Carlos was a great leader of the team. They arrived on time at our townhouse, and again in Ohio where we moved. They had us in our new house in the same amount of time. Chris, our estimator, was right on the mark with his estimate. He was wonderful to work with. We highly recommend Town and Country Movers. All in all, our smoothest move to date.

Everyone from sales rep to packers and movers were very efficient and professional. Guys on the truck were very accommodating and patient. Everyone did a great job!

Town and Country Movers made the whole moving experience much less stressful and the whole thing went very smoothly. Mark Goldsborough was our point of contact. He was responsive to questions and timely in returning phone calls etc and he dropped boxes off twice before the move without charging us. The estimate we received was on the higher end compared to some of their competitors but I felt it was worth paying extra for the service provided and I proved right. Only two packers arrived on packing day vs. four which was a surprise but pricing was adjusted accordingly and luckily I had pre-packed a large quantity of stuff. On the day itself, it was a horrid humid DC day but the guys did not complain one bit and three of the four worked SO hard. I have never seen anything like it. They were careful with our stuff and listened to us when we asked for things to be done in a certain way (kids stuff on last and off first). The move took longer than anticipated and the truck was filled up so they had to go back for a second run but luckily we were only moving a mile down the road. This would have significantly added to the cost if it had been a further drive. We ended up buying the guys lunch and dinner - we didn't mind doing this but don't forget to factor this into your planning. Only one thing was broken and Town and Country wrote a check for it with no quibbling which I really appreciated. Mark came back and picked up unpacked boxes for recycling too which was great. My only suggested improvement is that after a long day, we ended up having a cost discussion with the crew lead who didn't explain the charges very well as they were broken out differently to the estimate. He had overcharged us on a couple of things and made a mistake on the hourly rate. He also said he also didn't have a copy of our Angie's list coupon (which he finally found in the folder he had). Anyway, we got it sorted out but it seems it would be better if the crew lead gets a signature signing off hours at the end of the day but does not get involved in billing per se and that should be a follow up with the sales contact the following day.

It went absolutely great. First, there was a confirmation call the day before. Then, the movers showed up exactly on time at the storage facility. They were most accommodating and hard-working. If I changed my mind about keeping an item, they did absolutely everything I asked. In addition (as a nice bonus!), they were friendly and thoughtful. Then, upon the their arrival at the condo's garage, they unloaded all the items and carefully arranged them. And, even without my asking, they offered to take anything up the stairs and inside. So they helped me even more. I could not have been more pleased.

They were very accommodating during that time of year given that it was the winter and so close to the holiday's. The price was very reasonable and they did exactly what they said they were going to do. They were on time picking up and delivering my things. Everything was delivered in tact and nothing was damaged. I used a coupon through Angie's List that found for this company.

After dealing with other movers, it was difficult for me to rely on a company to exceed my relocation standards. Town and Country did just that. The drivers showed up on time, kept constant communication for a longer local move (MD to Stafford, VA) and were very efficient in the packing, loading, and unloading of my goods. They went above and beyond and put our new bed together at the destination, even though they didn't move it in (without me asking!!). The crew leader said, "You're the boss, and it looks like the bed needs to be put together. We can do that for you, no problem. We'll do everything!" (AWESOME!!) Even more comforting than their on-site work ethic was learning that both crew members have worked for Town and Country for 6+ years. In a tough industry, it's VERY relieving to have someone relocating your items that's been loyal to their company for so long... it means they're being treated right and will continue to deliver GREAT customer service. If you're ever unsure about which mover to go with, ask how long their representative has worked for them... it's a good indication if they're happy and if their company is good to their employees. Town and Country has really honest, dependable, and professional guys. I hope to not need to move again soon, but working in the real estate industry, I know any client I refer to them will be very satisfied! Recommended to all!

They were super prompt and very professional. They were essentially jogging as they loaded stuff which was important because we were parked in the road in front of our house and it was causing a bit of a traffic jam. They were nicely directly traffic and so fast to load I was amazed. They all 3 had smiles on their faces while they worked - 3 very strong and polite men. They were also very careful with my furniture - which include some antiques and a super heavy Stickley table. Everything was carefully wrapped and then put back together in the correct rooms in my new house. They were even patient with me as I decided where to put furniture. The truck was also very clean both inside and out which I appreciated. I would use them again in a minute.

Each packer and mover was professional, hard-working and polite. We were very pleased with our experience.

Considering all the horror stories about moving companies, I was prepared for some glitches in my moving process but I must say that Town and Country made my move an exceptionally easy experience. The staff showed up exactly on time for the pick-up and the delivery, 10 days later. The staff was pleasant, very efficient and professional. All my property was treated with respect and packed more carefully than I had expected. They were more than helpful is every aspect or this move.

They were on time - actually a bit early - all 3 men were clean - spoke English and polite! Their truck was clean and the pads were stacked and tidy within the truck bed. I personally think clean vehicles are a big indicator of the service you will receive and attention to detail. They loaded everything I had without grumbling, no swearing or off key remarks. Worked tirelessly without needing breaks (we did provide coffee and water.) They delivered my items in another state the next morning right on time and everything with the exception of a small handle cover on a dresser (not a big deal) was in A-1 condition! They packed and padded everything with extreme care. The lead driver Carlos was awesome as were the other two men with him. Guys showed up early and got right to work. Moved a 2 bedroom apt to a 3 bedroom house and came in well under estimate. No issue's at all and I would highly recommend there service.

They were excellent. We didn't have any damage, they were very professional. Arrived to pack and load when they said they would same on delivery. They were polite and knew what they were doing.

They moved everything in and put the piano back for me. There was only one piece that was part of a marble pedistal. I called them and they went through the boxes and found the marble piece. They mailed it to me and I can glue it back. Overall I was very satisfied with the move from Texas to Virginia. I would probably use them again for the additional furniture that was left in my old home.

They hooked me up with the airline company. Since the things that I had them move ended up weighing so much, their price was probably reasonable. I did all the packing myself but the driver and the fellows that loaded my stuff up were really good. And then, the ones that unloaded me here were also very efficient. I got them as a recommendation off of Angie's List and the experience was great overall. They were the only ones that I went with so I really have nothing to compare their price to but the quality of their service was excellent.

They are very prompt and responsive, and they pack so well. The unloading was good, minus the fact it felt rushed. But there has been no damage so far. They were timely in their arrival. Very professional in the way they moved the furniture, that showed experience.

Expensive? Heck yeah. Over the top Professional and Great Service? Heck, Heck YEA! You really get what you pay for with a service and these guys were at the top of our price range. But when we compared them to other movers we found that they didn't price out that much higher than others who didnt have nearly as good a reputation. They were EXCELLENT and this is the only Angie's list review I would take the time to write. What I liked: 1. Quick ballpark estimate that we did on the phone. I was on a business trip coordinating this and they tried to figure out based on some calculation how much it would cost per hour. They made it easy $100 deposit on my CC, emailed insurance forms, etc. I should had someone come and do this at home but I tried that with a couple other services and they didnt show up! I booked Town and country 2 weeks out. Dependable and reliable. 2. They were available when they said they would and had plenty of personnel and trucks at the ready. I like that they have their own trucks unlike some other companies that rent a Uhaul and then slap a tshirt on and charge you the same. 3. Great team that came, Friendly, and so fast (our place was a mess and we had crap strewn all over). They were organized and clean. They were also very careful with out things.
