Stang Plumbing

I contacted Stang Plumbing to give me an estimate on replacing the copper water supply piping (hot and cold) in my house with PEX A. Stang gave me a reasonable estimate right from the start. The two other estimates I requested further confirmed that Stang’s estimate was very reasonable and after they promptly responded to several questions I had concerning their proposal, I chose them to do the work. The workers showed up promptly on the first day to start the work and every day thereafter. The lead plumber, Rob, did a great job of communicating the progress at the end of the day and what he intended to accomplish the next day. Each day Rob made sure that water service was restored through out the house and that there were no leaks from the work that had been performed. The piping replacement was completed on the schedule originally proposed. Rob, and his helper Mark, were very professional and courteous and a pleasure to deal with. I will happily chose Stang Plumbing for any future work and highly recommend them for any plumbing services you may need.

Stang was an excellent company to work with and I highly recommend them. I will be using them again for the (inevitable) future plumbing needs in our old house. Firstly, John the owner was extremely knowledgeable and spent time going through the potential scope and solution to address the deteriorating water service and sewer pipes in our house. This work was a considerable investment (it took a sizeable team multiple days) and John made me very comfortable with what we were about to undertake. The team was punctual, very courteous, and focused on the job. Jason, the team member leading the sewer scope was a pleasure to work with. John and Jason were very communicative through the process and made extra effort to ensure that their activities bothered the neighbors as little as was reasonably possible. I found John and team straightforward and honest which made me comfortable with the work. They absolutely perform to the contract (appropriately so), and I recommend taking the time during the scoping/quote period to ensure that everything you want done is listed: Stang was happy to work through my questions and requested adjustments until the contract was what we all wanted. They offer a good warranty on their work: When the job was complete we noticed a slight seep from a fixture several days after everything was done. John came out right away; as I described what we were seeing while walking him in the front door he diagnosed that the team hadn’t quite tightened up one small part completely and that this would be under the warranty at no cost (He even upgraded an internal part in the fixture while fixing it, which was quite generous of him). They know their business well, they are communicative, they do excellent work, and I have high trust in the work they do.

Great job by Rob at Stang. We had a leak in the ceiling and once the ceiling was opened, Rob found the leak in a pipe running above ductwork. He was able to cut away and repair leaking pipe in a very tough to get to spot. Knowledgeable, efficient, and clean.

The plumber ensured that the drain was running well and even reviewed the pitch of the pipes in the basement. He was very professional and gave excellent reccommenations. I hired them again for more work a couple weeks later and the same high quality, professional standards were present.

After calling to make sure that it was ok, the plumber arrived about 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment. Start-to-finish, the job took about 1.5 hours including cleanup, preparing the invoice, and completing payment by credit card. I am pleased with the service and the cost was in line with other prices I was quoted.

I found the people working for Stang Plumbing to be incredibly honest, and doing the best for their customer seemed to be their top priority. The first time I called them, this past winter, a toilet was so clogged, we couldn't get it working. It was a Saturday evening, and the plumber who called us asked, first, what we needed, and then asked if we really needed it that day. He told us it would cost so much more for him to come out on a weekend, and suggested that, if we could wait until Monday, the price would be much more reasonable. We agreed to wait until Monday, and were actually able to fix it ourselves. That honesty was MOST appreciated. Second issue, this past month, was broken glass stuck in our garbage disposal. Dwayne came out and fixed it, simply and easily in a matter of a few moments. He then told us what we could do if it ever happened again. The price charged was for the full hour, including travel. When I asked him if it was for the full hour, he said they have to charge by the hour, so were there any other issues he could help us with, since he was there and we paid for the full hour. We remembered another toilet that was acting kind of funky lately, so we asked him to look at it. He diagnosed the problem, showed my husband how to fix it if ever happened again, and asked if there was anything else that needed his attention. We SO appreciated his honesty and his desire to give us whatever time we needed. We forgot that our outside faucet was leaking, so we let him go, but rest assured that we will call Stang this week to help us. Good company with good, honest people.

Diagnosed problem and installed a trap and vent from washing machine. Fixed the problem.

Called on a Sun, they suggested I call back on Mon since an emergency visit would be much more expensive. Called again, and they came out next day on Christmas Eve. Good response on phone and coordination. Plumber was professional and courteous. Ended up using an extended power snake, needing 25 ft to clear blockage. Paid their min rate of $189 plus snake charge of $35, minus AL $15 coupon. Recommended.

Several months ago we had water damage in our basement and had to have our baseboard heating removed so we could install a drainage system. We hired Stang Plumbing for this job. John and his brother were prompt. That job was reasonably priced. Because of this, we wanted to hire them again to install new baseboard units after our drainage system was finally finished. John quoted us between $2-3K for the project. On the day we had scheduled for the new installation, John showed up late and dropped off the parts but didn’t start the job because he was sick. He came back the next day and installed most of the baseboard units but couldn’t complete the job because he didn’t have all the baseboards. Someone apparently didn’t put all the materials in his truck. He didn’t have any openings on his schedule for several weeks but said he would try to get back to us sooner. We paid $1666 for his work just for that day. He told us that he would do his best to keep the total job around $3500 for us since he knew we were strapped for cash after having to put out $18K on the drainage system. He completed the job today but ended up charging us another $2800!!! The project was only supposed to take a day but turned out to be over two days total spread out over several weeks. The work he did does look nice and will hopefully last a while. He was professional but liked to talk a lot. We’re foolish because we didn’t ask for a quote in writing. If we had known the job would have costed more, we would have reached out to other companies for quotes. We feel deceived and cheated since this wasn’t the price we were originally given. We understand that there can be unexpected costs when it comes to home improvement projects but this seems excessive. Despite being a nice guy, we will never hire him again.

Everything went great. Stang showed up on time, did the work, and cleaned up well afterwards. Joe and John were polite and professional. The new sink looks great and works great. The job was very well done.

Their technician spent a good 15 minutes to talk to me over the phone to answer my questions and explain to me what I could expect to be done. This was all before I had decide to go with them. That was very helpful in making my decision. They showed up as scheduled and finished the job in two hours. I purchased the shower system myself. They just installed it for me. The charges were as expected, but their labor charge is not cheap! They did a very good job and I will certainly hire them again.

This is the first time I used Stang. I tried them based on Angie's List reviews. The people who put in reviews sure were right about Stang. I thought I needed a new was ring to repair a leaking toilet. They sent out Rob--an experienced plumber and a real professional. I had an 8 a.m. appointment. He was there at 7:58 a.m. Instead of tearing up the bathroom or the ceiling below (as a previous plumber did two years ago), he traced sources of water and found that the water on the floor (and that had leaked below) was due to water leaking through the toilet bolts. He not only replaced the bolts, he suggested that I should replace some worn out parts of the toilet--at little cost, since he was already there. Several of the plumb companies that I contacted via this list (all highly rated), refused to give me any type of estimate or hourly rate. Stang provided an hourly rate--a fair one. They are now my regular plumbing contractor.
