R&L Pressure Washing Painting and Decking

This company offered a great deal for a pressure wash and seal of a deck...took them up on it. The crew showed up and did a great job...the deck looked great (except for the old stain marks and a burn mark that just wasn't going to come out!) and I was very pleased with the results. They said they would need to come back to do the seal (rain was forecast the next couple of days)...it was three days to our Thanksgiving company arriving, so I messaged the company, they were out that afternoon to apply the seal and, it again, looked great! This is good deal for the price...highly endorse.

All in all it went OK. There was only one issue that was quickly handled by the owner/business operator. Upon arrival one of the gentlemen doing the pressure washing knocked on the door and asked me about "the gutters", I said I paid for the "Angies list deal" for the pressure washing and I wasn't sure about the gutters being included or not. English was not his first language and wha the did speak wasn't very clear. In any case, he kept pointing at the gutters and seemed to be saying he would be doing that too so I said ok. At the end of the service he asked me for a check. At this time I explained to him that everything was paid in full through Angie's list so there should be nothing to pay. He then started pointing at the gutters again, I told him, I didn't ask for that and that he was the one that kept bringing it up and pointing at it, If I knew that it was additional I would not have let him do it. I started to feel bad for the misunderstanding so decided I would go ahead and write a check and take the hit as experience. I wrote the check out to the company and handed it over. A couple of minutes later the gentleman came back to the door and told me to re-write the check directly to him. At this point I didn't like what was happening and called the business owner. I explained the situation to him and that I felt that I was being taken advantage of. As well as this gentleman making a bad name for his business. He followed up immediately and everything was taken care of, there was no additional charge.

They arrived on time to power wash. We had to wait a few weeks to apply the stain due to rainy weather. However, they wanted to make sure the wood was dry.

Service was punctual, friendly and thorough.

It went great. I have recommended to several people and they have been happy too.

I have a 24X14 ft second story deck and 14X14 ceiling of a porch that was recently installed. I wanted it the exposed wood sealed with clear stain. There was an angies list deal for $249.00 for power wash and sealing and I purchased it. I was told later that it was only for 200 sq ft, which was not in the original ad. Not a problem! The entire decking is made out of Gorilla decking (plastic --- I did not need this power washed or sealed). The verticle railings are made of black aluminum (also material that did not need to be power washed, stained or sealed). The estimate was for $700. I don't understand why I was being charged so much for so little sq footage of actual work. The ceiling is 196-200 sq feet. That just left the horizontal railings and posts that needed to be cleaned and sealed. He also offered to do the underside of the deck (also not requested). The ceiling would have been covered by the angies list deal, but the rest of the "small stuff" that needed to be done was going to cost an additional $450. Even if I threw in power washing the stuff that I didn't need stained, it is totally not worth it. And I really dont' have alot of time to haggle back and forth via text. I wanted to speak to someone in person and he wouldn't come inside the house to speak to us, even though we were there when he stopped by to look at the job. It was difficult to make it understood what I wanted done (ie NO, I do NOT want the PLASTIC DECK and metal railing power washed. I just care about protecting the pressure treated wood in time for winter). I"m sure they are a good provider, just not the right fit for me and my needs. I obtained a refund for my angies list deal.

We took advantage of the $249 special. The R&L team was prompt, efficient and courteous. After the pressure washing, they pointed out that the deck could use sanding before sealing (because the wood was beginning to splinter, which didn't surprise us, since it had been so long since we'd had any maintenance done), so they offered to do that work for an additional $75 which we thought was well worth the expense.

The crew of 2 were very courteous and arrived aiming to please. Years of grime removed and appears house received a face-lift. We are very pleased.

Our deck was slightly larger than the deal size and it had stairs (stairs are not included in the deal). Our deck also needs staining (which is extra and also not included in the deal because of the labor to apply it with rollers and brushes). Read the fine print! Once we came to the understanding of what would be supplied under the deal, we paid the extra for the full square footage and for the stairs. We had the deck sealed without staining it and hope that will get us through this Winter. We will have them back out to stain and re-seal in the Spring.

Excellent job! They did a great job and cleaned up behind themselves. I will use them again in the future. I had other quotes and this was a better deal.

very well done, punctual, reasonable price

Everything went wrong: it rained, I got sick, gate locked, even broke my land line phone. But when they finally caught me, these guys got in there & did a simply wonderful job within a few hours. what I really appreciate is that EVERY TIME I CALLED, I GOT THEM ON THE FIRST RING - EVERYTIME. I could not ask for any more. i easily recommend this group anytime. Yes, I studied the other reviews & I appreciate them. But even though other contract-jobs did not work out perfectly (according to the reviews), I took notice & was ready!! But this contractor apparently can learn from their mistakes and can correct errors. That's exactly what I need. I like a group that's willing to IMPROVE!!!! Way to go guys! the deck is beautiful. Even though they left a little Thompson stain in a can, I should not need it since they missed nothing (smile). I'll see them again in a few years when i need another staining etc.

Service provider stormed off after I refused to buy the product to repair my deck. Very unprofessional.

We used a coupon for the power wash of the house and liked their work so much that we had them back to power wash and seal the deck. Thank Luis. Great job.

Good job overall! Mr. Ortiz was responsive and cordial on the telephone. The extra square footage on the deck bumped the cost up a bit higher than I had hoped, but Mr. Ortiz team did a great job with the power washing and above average on the staining. Since this was a rental, we had to coordinate on meeting for payment of services. I was thrown off a bit when Mr. Ortiz wanted to come to the house earlier in the day than scheduled with very short notice, since we were also trying to be considerate of our tennants and our own work schedules. It all worked out in the end fortunately, although I am still awaiting receipt for services via mail, since a receipt was not provided on site.

I bought the $249 Deck pressure wash and sealing deal from Angie's list. BAD IDEA for the following reasons. I bought the deal on 6/11/2015 and immediately got a response from Mr. Ortiz indicating that they would come by to wash the deck on Thursday 6/26. I sent him a response saying - Oh you mean July 25 since that day is a Thursday and he said yes. - FIRST RED FLAG. He wasn't sure of the scheduling dates!!! But then I let it slide. On 6/16/2015, M. Ortiz contacted me saying he had an opening and they could come by and wash the deck that day within the next 3-4 hrs. I was impressed with the punctuality but I said " It's going to be rain a bit tomorrow and day after. Do you think it's a good idea? ". He said that was Ok - the rain didn't matter because they were just washing the deck. They came by, and of course Mr. Ortiz wasn't there but his men sent him pictures of the deck and he called me to tell me that it would cost another 155$ since the deck had 9 stairs and a trellis. SECOND RED FLAG!!! when he contacted me he did not ask me if there were stairs or any other specifics about the deck. I thought I may have missed some fine print and was OK with paying the extra amount. I gave the men the check for $155.00 and they washed the deck. The check was encashed 2 days later. Unfortunately it rained for a couple of hours every day ( June happened to be the wettest month of the year!!). We did have a couple of dry days here and there but there was no contact from Mr. Oritz. I finally called Mr. Ortiz on July 1st to ask when he would send his men to seal the deck. He was very apologetic and asked me my address and also when his men came by to wash the deck - THIRD RED FLAG!!! He had no idea when his people came by to do the job that HE had scheduled!!! He said he would send his people that weekend on July 4th. I reminded him it was a holiday and was he sure he would have workers for that day? He said he would do it on July 5th since the weather forecast indicated no rain for those two days. I said OK if that's how you want to do it. July 5th - I finally contacted Mr. Ortiz and he did not pick up any of my calls. A couple of days later he calls me and tells me that his men came by on July 3rd and sprayed the sealing fluid and that the water would "bubble up" on the deck because it was coated. I did notice the bubbles on the deck but after a few days I noticed the trellis turning green and realized they had done a shoddy job in the trellis. So while they did do the work - it wasn't satisfactory. I have bought deals from Angie's list earlier and the companies were always very professional and finished the job properly but this experience left me very skeptical and annoyed hence I will not be hiring them again.

They did a really great job. They came one day and pressure washed the whole deck/rails/stairs. They spent a good amount of time and effort on it. Then they came a couple days later and sanded the whole thing, again spending a lot of time carefully going over everything, and then stained the whole thing. They also nailed in loose boards and popped nails. I was impressed by the amount of time and care they took with everything. It looks great!

When they first got out to the house, they called to say the wood fence around the deck would cost more than the deck covered by the coupon which was fine. But the price he quoted to wash and seal the fence was outrageous. I agreed to have him power wash the deck and fence that day and come back and seal everything a few days later. They came back and sealed the deck and not the fence for an additional $180. So, now I have a sealed deck and an unsealed fence. I would not recommend them or use them again. Update: After posting the original review, I received an extremely belligerent voicemail from R&L Pressure Washing. It was inappropriate, unprofessional and in poor taste. Therefore, I have downgraded my review to an F. I do NOT recommend working with this company.

Very good job, especially as my home faces north & mold tends to form on the vinyl siding and window frames, so there were plenty of problem areas. They were about a hour late in arriving (they called and let me know they'd be a little late), which is understandable given that they traveled from Gaithersburg to Bowie during Friday rush hour to do this work. No complaints.
