This is by far the worst company I've dealt with, AVOID at all cost! We submitted a service request on 10/23, and till this day, it has NOT been fixed. Whenever we called we were told someone would check on it, would talk to technician, would order the parts, would definitely call us back. NO ONE EVER CALLED! Finally when I called again the same lady who answered the phone said she had ordered the part, but it had to come from the warehouse and there was no date given. They only needed to replace the broken hose, and it took 3 months????

The absolute WORST! I had to help the plumber carry a snake machine up a flight of stairs and then .... help him hold the snake!! I should have charged HIM! He damaged a wall and left a mess. He refused to snake an outside drain. I saw more head scratching than I can count. It's a one man operation in an old van. Thanks American Home Shield (Home warranty company) for sending him out. AHS is usually better than this. Avoid this incompetent plumber.

They arrived on time and the man checked my toilet, and it broke in his hand. He verified with AHS and his office that he could and would repair the toilet. He took the information from the toilet and promised to order the part. 1.5 weeks later a new older guy came to the house. He looked at the toilet for less than 30 seconds and said, we don't fix this. He went to his truck and talked on the phone for 30 min. I received a call from AHS that said that the screw of the flush valve and the "gasket" were installed incorrectly. the screw was apparently flushed down the toilet, so I don't know how they know any of that. Willard's staff swears he did not say anything about a gasket, just that the screw (which isn't in the toilet) was over tightened. Willards staff is saying that AHS is lying. AHS is saying that Willard is lying. I say they're all lying. The system is broken, and they're trying to find excuses not to repair it. I called AHS and they verified that the entire situation is fishy because Willard never should have come to my home with zero intention of ever fixing anything. They literally came to the house with no intention of repairing anything. They already had the toilet make and model, and pictures of the flush valve. The plumber from Willard showed up in my estimation purely to find a reason NOT to repair the toilet. They literally came into the house to find an excuse NOT to do their job. Apparently, they've found a way to con the home warranty system. This is by far the worst contractor I've ever worked with. I have now somehow had them scheduled by AHS 2x to be in my home. once they refused to show up. This time, they showed up 2x, 1 just to prove they didn't have to come anymore. I would not recommend them, I would not support them, I won't even talk nice of them. FYI, AHS has a computer system to assign contractors, and once it's "assigned" they can't change it. New plumbers are arriving this week to verify my story.
Description of Work: They were researching my flush valve for a one piece toilet. They were contracted by AHS, a company filled with terrible experiences.

I will never use them again. He uses a sub contractor and he came out and was good, diligent and knew what he was doing. R E Willard had a disagreement with the contractor and became violent. He did not know what he was doing, I ended up getting my money refunded and going with another company.

Description of Work: Using AHS home warranty company, I had Willard assigned to change a shutoff valve in my basement. The receptionist was pleasant and got me on the schedule for the same day because we had freezing weather and the leaky valve was causing my outside faucet to freeze. Upon arriving, I answered the door. The gentleman just stared at me until I asked if he was the plumber (he had no uniform or company vehicle). He said yes and I let him in the house. I told him the valve was located in the basement. He again blankly stared and said that he didn't understand. I told him it was a warranty call to fix the shut off valve in the basement. He then somewhat begrudgingly followed me downstairs. I showed him the wall opening for the valve near the ceiling. He didn't get a ladder to take a closer look. Rather, he stood and thought about it and said that AHS wouldn't cover the valve. I told him that they would because I had discussed it with them prior to the service call. The plumber insisted that AHS wouldn't cover it and then proceeded to tell me that he didn't bring the parts even if they would have. So, a plumber is called to fix a valve that has been cleared by the warranty company and he won't fix it and doesn't bring the parts despite his office being told when they were called. After all of this, I thanked him for coming out and proceeded to show him the door. He then looks at me and says that I owe him $60 for the warranty service fee. At this point, I wanted him out and just paid the fee even though he couldn't fix the problem if he wanted to since he didn't bring the parts. After his departure, I contacted the warranty company about the authorization. AHS said the issue was definitely covered and Willard should have made the repair. Instead, Willard seems to be in the business of taking money and not providing services. They seemingly like the scheme they have going on by being affiliated with AHS...collect a $60+ service fee and then claim that the repair is not covered. Since this incident, AHS has contacted Willard to expedite the repair being that more freezing weather is coming; however, theAHS representative was told by Willard that they didn't have time to schedule me and they would call me later. Well it took them 3 full days to call and leave a message. Now it's my task to get them to answer the phone. Perhaps one day they will and my repair will be handled. However, I'm not sure I have confidence in their work from my experience with the first plumber they sent. The cost of the repair was $60 service fee. The repair was not completed and has yet to be rescheduled. The only reason the company got a D grade and not an F is my first conversation with the Willard receptionist. All other experiences since then would receive an F grade.

The owner of the company is a horrible businessman. He yelled at me, hung up on me and was generally unpleasant. He had me taking still pictures of a dripping faucet and then refused to do anything. I had specifically asked the technician when he had finally arrived to wait to install the new faucet since I had privately purchased a high end faucet to use instead. I was on the phone with American Home Shield to get permission for the technician to use my privately obtained, still in the box and wrapped faucet. We were working out the final details when the technician packed his stuff and said the job was done and he did not care what I said. If he did not use the same very basic faucet the cost to put in my $350 faucet would have been $250 for his time. Well, AHS was already paying for his time so nothing made sense. The bottom line was immediately upon his departure, I turned on the faucet and found it leaked under the sink and the faucet filled my kitchen with water since the faucet head was clogged with debris and was missing a part. When I called the office to complain, all my issues were dealt with by denials, allegations and unprofessional conduct. I will never allow these people back in my house again!
Description of Work: My kitchen faucet was leaking water from under the base. I called American Home Shield and they sent out R.E.Willard. Not only did they not come for the scheduled appointment time which had to be changed by their lack of arrival two times, but they replaced the faucet with a used piece of equipment that they had in their truck. I ended up spending another $50.00 for the GREAT Gaithersburg Plumbing to come out and replace the faucet with something that was comparable to what I had and new.

AHS scheduled willard, they called a day or two later in the early morning. they scheduled me for a time I couldn't make. i called back and rescheduled for a time I was available. After some negotiating, we settled on a future date and time. One the day of the call, I stayed home from work for the morning. But at noon, the end of the scheduled window, I called and discovered they were coming between 12-4, the time changed. I cancelled the service call and called a new request and new plumbers. The water in my basement will have to wait another week apparently.
Description of Work: They changed the scheduled time without notifying me of the change. The phone answering girl was very nice, the male I kept getting transferred to, I assume was the plumber, was rude gruff and not easy to work with. After scheduling the appointment for 10-12 am, it was changed to 12-4pm.. completely unhelpful...

Terrible experience with office staff and owner. Staff stated they do not do the type of work I had requested and were just dsoing an evaluation I did not call for an evaluation
Description of Work: They did not perform the work requested. Left without doing the work or fixing the problem. Office staff and owner very unprofessional and rude. Stating he did not want to talk to the worker who was at my home because it was family time at 4:15. Could not answer why the work was not done. Felt they deserved the money because they drove to my home.

The guy was not friendly and was borderline rude. After inspecting the toilet he called HMS and told them that the toilet tank was cracked...they denied my claim because they said this was something that must've existed before the warranty went into effect. Then, rather than stay on the phone to appeal the claim decision, I hung up and asked the plumber how much the fix would cost...he said $65. I wrote him the check assuming he'd fix the toilet...instead he heads to his truck without a word of goodbye and is about to drive off. I go after him and asked him what he planned to do about the toilet...he said "nothing...the claim was denied". I asked what the $65 was for he said it was for his inspection fee. I go well can you go ahead and fix the toilet for whatever it'll cost...he tells me to call the R.E. Willard office and try to make another appt. He drives off. I call the office and they were not at all sure about the schedule for the next day and the lady said she'd check with the "dispatch" and call me back in 30 minutes...no one ever called back. Then, the next day, the plumber shows up out of the blue, unannounced with a toilet tank in his hand. I'm glad my toilet got fixed, but dealing with this plumber and company was not a good experience...they are very unprofessional.
Description of Work: I recently bought a new home and found that my toilet was leaking shortly after I moved in. I was assigned R.E. Willard through HMS home warranty.

I called the number provided by HMS, and scheduled an appointment without any issues for a four-hour window during the following week. I was unable to be home at the time, so my boyfriend took the afternoon off. He contacted me toward the end of the window to say the plumber still hadn't arrived, so I called to follow up. The representative said that we were scheduled to be the last stop of the day. I informed her that my boyfriend was there, not me, and offered to give his cell number to facilitate his entry. Somewhat irritatedly, she asked what he was supposed to do with that -- "go down the block and use a payphone?" I apologized, surprised that a modern service provider would have no mobile phone. I offered to have my boyfriend waiting for him in the lobby of the building if she could provide me an ETA. She put me on hold and contacted him by radio. After a minute or two, she picked the line back up, asking if my building had parking. I said no, we only have street parking, and if he circled the block, we would be sure to be waiting for him once he found parking. He finally arrived, and was surly from the get-go. He came through the front door, and when addressed to see if he was the plumber, he nodded gruffly, then said, "you got parking for me?" He was offered to look for a spot at the rear of the building, which is somewhat unsafe and not frequently available, and his response was "are you going to pay for my ticket?" My boyfriend was taken aback by this unprofessional attitude, and asked if he was familiar with working in the District, as this situation would not likely be new or unique if he was. My boyfriend started directing him to the rear alley, but he continued to express irritation and finally simply started walking across the street and back to his vehicle. We contacted the Home Warranty company and they promptly assigned us another plumber. Keeping our fingers crossed that we can find a professional!
Description of Work: I submitted a claim to my Home Warranty company, HMS National, who immediately sent me an authorization to contact a plumber to service a problem with my shower.

The plumber was sent over by my home warranty company to evaluate and repair a shower valve that wasn't working and a disposal that wasn't working properly. They were able to repair the valve without any problems and also unclogged the disposal. The main plumber who was working at the house however was less than professional in his demeanor and attitude. Perhaps that has to do with the fact that they came over as contractors for the home warranty company, not charging by the hour. But in my opinion it doesn't matter how they are being paid, whether partly or completely by me, as I am the customer and will very likely have other plumbing needs in the future. If they had been easy to work with, I would have happily called them in the future. But after today, I do not believe that I would call them to do any repairs or installations in our home.
