Robs Jobs is scheduled to clean my gutters twice a year. They are excellent and they let me know the condition of my roof as well. I can't watch them walk on the roof. It makes me nervous. They are polite , professional, and knowledgeable. I like them so much, I hire them to do other jobs needed around my home.

After company came to look at the job at hand they gave me a quote on the repairs. I agreed to the work to be done. They said they would have to return 4 times because of the spackling job. When the tech came they requested 2/3rd of the money up front. In the initial visit he patched the dry wall seems where the water came through, straightened the flue and put caulk around the flue. I called afterwards because I was under the impression that they were going to replace the damaged piece of drywall. I was a little upset because I can repair a patch of drywall myself! But I'll take the blame for not really understanding fully what the scope of work was. At this point I didn't need them to come back. I knew how to do the work myself. I just was upset because we paid A LOT of money for a guy to come to our house for 1 hour worth of work. I asked to speak to the owner who informed me that I've "signed" a contract for having the work done since I allowed them in my house. He was unwilling to discuss any way to other options and basically took the 400$, for ONE hour worth of work plus minimal supplies. Afterwards, I discovered that when the tech straightened the flue, it disconnected in the attic! I don't even want to think about what could have happened if we didn't discover that.

Response from Robs Jobs LLC
First and foremost, this review is two years after the fact, the work was done on 11/16/12. It is very confusing to try to understand why someone would come back years later to say these things. Secondly, the customer was discounted $260 since she did not want the (2) remaining trips completed for the drywall ceiling tape seam repair. The customer also fails to mention that we did a fairly extensive roof repair at the same time which was not related to the chimney flue. The $400 the customer states she paid covered a trip to her home for a ceiling drywall repair, a roofing repair and the re-securing of a chimney cap which was very high in the air. $400 for all that is beyond fair in price. Anything inside the attic is unrelated to anything Robs Jobs LLC did as we only worked on the roof. I did speak to the customer, it was not a bad conversation as she insinuates and I did agree to take $260 off the bill. The customer got great service the day after she called. As far as we knew, everything was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties concerned. Then two years later, she makes this review, absolutely puzzling and disappointing.

After the initial contact I had a difficult time reaching this company to even confirm they were going to show up. They only answer their phones part time, and they did not respond to emails. I ended up only having them complete half the job and I ended up asking for a partial refund (which they did provide on a timely basis), because they were not clear on prices up front, or materials-and then they just used the materials (moulding) that they had pulled off, yet charged me for new. I think the actual handyman who did the work was okay but the company behind him was not reliable. They will even charge you a 3% surcharge if you try and use a credit card. I will not use them again.

Robs Jobs does not "answer their phones part time" . We are one of the few companies in this industry that employ a full time office staff and we have done this for 23 years. Our phones are answered 8-4 M-F with the only exceptions being if we are at lunch or the bank. We do not use "used" wood. We used brand new 1x12 Primeboard from Home Depot, the top quality lumber offered at that establishment when we completed this job. Being that we don't advertise credit card payment we only do a handful of charges a month and we are charged steep fees by the bank. The cust was told about the fee when she asked and not only did she not pay by credit card but she was not charged any fees at all. We tried to keep this customer happy as we do all of our valued customers. From the complaint, it seems that the complaint is not about the field worker or about the quality of the work but about the customers perception that our office staff was unresponsive to her. It is indeed unfortunate to have someone post a bad review about your company because they think someone did not call them back fast enough. We refunded money to this customer (promptly upon request)to keep her happy and we honestly thought we had done all we could do to make her a happy customer. She paid her payment on 10/16/13 so imagine our surprise to see this complaint come up 3 months later in 2014. It is so unfortunate to work so hard to try to keep someone happy and then get the bad publicity regardless, months later. It really does leave us scratching our heads. The co-owner of the company even called her on 1/29/14 to try to find a way to make her happy again and have her take down her critical review but it doesn't appear to have done any good. Robs Jobs, LLC has been in business in Howard County for 23 years. We have an A+ rating with BBB and a 23 year clean MHIC history which is virtually unheard of in this business. We are family owned & operated and take a lot of pride in the quality work we have provided to tens of thousands of customers over the past 2 decades. Robs Jobs, LLC provides high quality work at a reasonable price and we have grown almost exclusively through repeat customers and word of mouth advertising over the past 23 years. Many of our clients have remarked that Robs Jobs is probably "the "best kept secret in Howard County!" Odds are we have worked for one of your neighbors :)

We called Robs Jobs because we had a list of repairs we wanted taken care of. It was really nice to be able to call one contractor to take care of it all. We had them install 2 ceiling fans we had bought from Home Depot, we had a leaking toilet, and we had several areas of drywall that needed repair. When calling around to get prices, it was very hard to get someone on the phone. Kelly answered at Robs Jobs the first time we called. We were scheduled for service within the week. The handyman showed up within the window that we were given and got right to work. When they were finished, he walked through with me and showed me what was done and made sure we were happy with everything. It was great to know we were using a company that has been around for over 20 years, and were also among the least expensive in the area. I will most definitely call them again!

another worker shows up later, thinking he is just there to help the 1st guy; little did i know that i was now being charged for 2 workers instead of one. at no time was i informed that my cost just doubled. took them all day to fix the tub leak. 1st time we use the tub it leaks just like before. after calling rob jobs back to complain, that want to pre-charge us before they even come out. had another handyman come in to fix the tub, basically out $1200. EVEN IF ROB JOBS OFFER FREE SERVICE - RUN! YOU WILL STILL END UP PAYING, BECAUSE WILL NEED SOMEONE TO COME IN BEHIND THEM TO FIX THEIR WORK!! YOU ARE PAYING FOR ROB'S RECREATIONAL TOYS NOT FOR A JOB WELL DONE!

First it should be noted that this complaint comes 7 years after the work was done. Work was done 10/18/06. Now lets examine all the untrue statements in this ludicrous complaint 1. The work was not to fix a leaky drain only and very little was charged on the drain itself, less than $100 2. We did electrical work, drywall work, carpentry, fluorescent lighting, caulking, grout in 2 baths, a new exhaust fan and various other odds and ends throughout the home 3. The leak was in the trap of the tub which is under the floor. It was replaced and NEVER leaked again 4. Cust called back on 12/28/06 about a new leak, almost 10 weeks later, not the next time he got in the tub 5. When we returned on the req of the cust on 12/28/06, the new leak was at the overflow plate and had nothing to do with anything we touched. We fixed the overflow plate regardless, spent two hours and didn't charge the cust a dime to keep him happy for something we had nothing to do with. Have you ever heard the phrase "no good deed goes unpunished"? Here we are, fixing something for free that we never worked on the first trip, trying to keep this guy happy and 7 years later he files this ridiculous and untrue complaint full of lies. I really think this guy is delusional We did not charge $1200 to fix a leaky pipe, we charged under $100 for that part and it never leaked again. The other $1100 was for other work all over the house and for which he never complained. Furthermore the second leak was not related to the first. In fact at the first visit we told him the overflow plate was in bad shape and should be replaced but he declined the additional service because he did not want to spend the money. Our Tech Larry is very well versed in these matters and does an outstanding job. Larry even did two additional hours of work 10 weeks later (not the next time they got in the tub as this guy claims) and did it all for free! Unfortunately we have found that the 99% of happy customers we have don't take the time to post reviews but it seems the other 1% do, makes ya wonder. Some of the reviews we have seen on Angies list are just simply ridiculous almost to the point of being laughable. How else can you handle something like this coming out of the woodwork 7 years after the fact? Unbelievable.

We contacted Rob's Jobs based off of a friend's recommendation. We were moving into a new house and needed six ceiling fans installed fairly quickly so the rooms would have lights. Rob's Jobs sent two technicians out to do the installation, and during the initial process asked if we needed remotes for them. We had never installed fans before and did not understand the functionality of the remotes, so we stated that we did not think so. They did not volunteer any helpful information, nor did they explain the necessity of them. We thought it was an extra item. Once they left, we realized that five of the fans (the ones without a pull string) had two fan speeds, off and high. Within a week, one of the fan lights stopped operating, and the light bulb was not the issue. We called Rob's Jobs, who stated that if they came out to fix it, and it was no fault of their own, then they would have to charge us for the service. We had a fifty percent chance of being charged again. A couple of weeks later we had an electrician in our home for a separate reason, who looked into our fan issue while he was there. He determined that the reason the light stopped working was because it needed a remote in order to work. He suggested we contact Rob's Jobs in order to have them complete the job they had started. Based off the information provided by the electrician, we called Rob's Jobs and asked them to complete the job by installing the necessary ceiling fan remotes. Rob's Jobs stated they would have a technician return as soon as possible to complete the work; no problem. A technician arrived, stated he would have to charge us for finishing the job, and left shortly thereafter. Rob's Jobs has come into our home two times now, and we still have incomplete work for services paid.

We're very sorry that Member is unhappy with our services. It is my understanding that our technicians explained to the customer that either the fan remotes needed to be programmed when the fans were installed (very time consuming), or the switches on the wall would need to be changed. At that time the customer told our technicians that he would install the new wall switches himself. When the customer called back to state the fans were not working properly, my technician explained that is was because the wall switches had not been changed. This was not indeed a warranty repair. The customer agreed to pay for the original service call on a time and materials basis. What he was charged for in the beginning was the time we spent installing the ceiling fans. Had we programmed the ceiling fan remotes, they would have paid for that additional time. We offered to install the remotes, again on a time and materials basis, and even offered a discount on our service to make the customer happy. They then told me that they understood that it would have cost more at the initial call had we installed the remotes, but that another service company offered to install them at a cheaper rate. I did all I could to make the customer happy and was under the impression that we were parting on good terms.

They took on this job and fit us in the schedule quickly. They arrived when scheduled and hung 3 lights and a ceiling fan. They also took care of a minor cabinet repair along with reattaching a sliding door handle. All work was completed in a reasonable time for a good price. We were very happy with the work. We are obtaining a quote from them for a bathroom and kitchen remodel.

[removed member name] seemed to be a nice lady and approached us to do a bathroom remodel for her parents. Since she was a manager at the Crab Shanty Restaurant which we often frequented we thought we could trust her and agreed to do the bathroom remodel. She did pay a deposit by check (not cash as she indicated), it was check #103 for $1500 and at no time did we ever claim she didn't pay, she is delusional. In fact it should be noticed that she paid the deposit on 7/7/04 and didn't file this complaint until 4 years later on 6/23/08, what does that tell you about this woman? When it doesn't make sense it usually isn't true. The bathroom we did for her parents was beautiful and her parents loved it. Why some people come back 4 years later to complain is beyond us. We've learned over the years, no matter how hard you try to keep everyone happy, there are some people that just can't be pleased We sent three of our best workers, Larry Joe and Tony, all experienced in Home Improvement with many years of experience to do the bathroom and as stated before it was gorgeous, her parents were very pleased and told all our guys how much they liked it. Three visits were necessary to repair drywall. We weren't sure how much needed to be redone. We thought the leak might have damaged the walls, too. The repairmen were professional and only performed the work that was necessary. They arrived as scheduled and once called to reschedule when a prior job ran over. I would definitely use this company again. The fees are a bit high, but the quality of work and workers is high.

The work was performed as requested. The workers were professional and cleaned up after themselves. I was happy with the quality of their work. However, there were some difficulties scheduling the work. I understand there were extenuating circumstances and don't have any issues really with the scheduling difficulties. I was surprised at the cost. They bill $130 for the first man hour and $75 thereafter. I knew the rate ahead of time - they have you sign a statement detailing there billing. I know their rates are comparable to others in the same business.

We responded promptly to the customers request for service and worked on replacing her ceiling holes on three separate trips due to multiple coats of drywall needed. We sent three of our best workers, Larry Joe and Tony, all experienced in Home Improvement with many years of experience. We not only had to paint her cabinets with multiple coats of paint, we also painted her entire kitchen, walls, ceilings & trims. We painted assorted doors and other moldings with black semigloss paint. It was a lot of work and very labor intensive thus the need for multiple workers. The customer was not only pleased with the work but noted on her invoice is the fact that she gave them each a tip at he end of the job which often happens to our talented workers. Regarding Robs Jobs choosing & providing the wrong paint base, 100% untrue, all the paint was customer supplied and no paint was charged on her invoice, not one cent. The only material charged was for a few roller sleeves since the customer chose, purchased and delivered the paint to the jobsite herself Robs Jobs, LLC has been in business in Howard County for 23 years.
