Key did not do its due diligence with regard to the tenant we paid them $1200 to find. We were told that the tenant was very desirable and had no major financial issues. Later a free case search revealed the tenant had numerous active court cases against him for financial troubles including a tax lien and active wage garnishment. Either they didn't know this, or they hid it from us. Either way, they completely mishandled finding our tenant.
We had to file Failure to Pay Rent paperwork against the tenant four times in one year and each time his late fees were taken out of our proceeds, rather than from the tenant. They said this is just their policy.
Key did not read or know their own lease and misinformed us with regard to the termination date of our renter's lease which required us to keep an undesirable tenant for another full year. We learned about the discrepancy when the tenant tried to take us to arbitration, which is also a part of their lease. When we asked about what was happening and what we should do we were told, "I don't know. I suggest you call this 1-800 number and get advice. I could do it for you, but I dont want to miss something so you should do it yourself." This from a company that boasts more than 30 years experience. They couldn't tell me anything about the arbitration process even though their lease binds the owners and tenants to binding arbitration. Even though they were the REASON that we were being forced into arbitration!
The owner of this company made inappropriate and racially charged remarks to my husband and I insinuating that judges are more likely to be lenient to certain types of black people who show up to court in their, "fatigues with their skinny, crying babies." To the same point, a google review search revealed that the owner told another woman several years ago that she was the "wrong color" to go to court in the area they were looking to rent their property. We found these comments to be extremely offensive and had to report the owner to Maryland authorities that deal with discrimination.

rental in baltimore while I was away. There were some very difficult
issues including a change of tenant midway through the lease and home
repairs as well. Everything was handled very professionally, promptly,
and courteously. I felt that my tenants were treated well and I was
kept informed of everything going on with my property. I had a terrible experience with a management company prior to working with Key PM, and the difference is unbelievable. I would recommend them for anyone renting out their property in the Baltimore area. I would 100% use them again.
I was very nervous about renting out my house and leery of property management companies. I needed to know, going in, my concerns/questions would always be promptly and thoroughly addressed and I would never feel like ?just another owner? in the management company?s portfolio. I also needed to know the property management company I selected would be as careful with my property and money as I am. I?ve been pleased with Key, in general, but it was Kate Tshiams who alleviated all my concerns early-on and it was Kate who ended up being THE REASON I ultimately selected Key. That turned out to be the right decision and Kate has continued to be fabulous, since I became a paying client.
I?ve sent numerous questions Kate?s way and EVERY SINGLE TIME, I?ve received a prompt, detailed, articulate explanation. Kate has never once shown the slightest bit of impatience or annoyance with me. Her professionalism, thoroughness, knowledge of all facets of property management and attention to detail are truly amazing! She?s one of the most ?on the ball? people I?ve ever encountered anywhere.
I contacted every ?owner? reference on the sheet Key left with me, before I signed a contract with Key, and I received a response back from nearly every person on the list. More than once, the feedback contained favorable reviews for Kate, in particular. There was one reference that will always stand out in my mind, as that person said Kate is a ?star?. It?s been about 10 months since I first contacted Key and, at this point, I have to say it?s absolutely true; Kate is a shining STAR.
