Jerome called me the day before the scheduled work to confirm and asked if I had flexibility to begin the work earlier in the day since he had a cancellation. That was more than OK with me and he showed up the next morning with his crew right on time. One person completed the dry wall work and two focused on the painting. The work was completed within 3 hours. They cleaned up afterward and Jerome was diligent in checking that everything was done to my satisfaction. All three gentlemen were very professional, took extreme attention to detail and were extremely personable during the time they were here. They even put up with an extremely inquisitive cat! I would not hesitate to call Jerome Brown again when I need any work done around the house. I highly recommend J&D Handyman Service!

We used two of the daily deals with them for 4 hours of drywall and or painting. We had several issue that needed resolving - the drywall in our master bath was messed up from attic temperature changes and poor original painting. We asked them to patch up the drywall on the ceiling and walls to prepare for painting. They did a decent job fixing the mess in my skylight and some other areas where they repaired the drywall. However, they missed large sections of drywall issues and didn't fill in all the chipped paint spots. There was a crack (approx 2.5 feet long) in the bathroom ceiling that they didn't fix. After "completing" the drywall repair, they painted the bathroom with a single coat of Behr Premium Plus (which we provided). The paint didn't completely cover the walls, but looks OK. Overall, it looks better than it did, but not the way I would like it to be. I keep debating with myself on this. Was it because I had only purchased a set number of hours, or was it because they did a less than ideal job? I'm a bit mixed. I would have rather them fixed all the issues and not painted. I'm not happy that they missed the significant crack in the ceiling and still painted over it. Now I need to fix that and the other spots on the walls and re-paint. The walls already need a second coat, so that is not such a big deal.I usually do this type of work myself, so I know what to expect from a quality job. But with the clock ticking, they may have cut some corners to finish the main work. I have purchased another 4 hour block from them and plan to have them do some wallpaper removal work. Hopefully we will have better results.

Like I said, they arrived early. They laid down a cloth by my front door. I showed them the areas to fix and they quickly got working. They cleaned up after themselves very well. I got my full two hours from two guys. Other Angies List Big Deal companies end up screwing you. They will say "4 hours of labor", but send two guys who only stay two hours. That is rotten because two guys do not get everything done twice as fast as one guy.

Jerome and his assistant came on time and were very pleasant, nice to deal with. They completed the job promptly and they made sure there was no mess for me to clean up. They had me look at their work. It looked great I will not hesitate to call on them again. Good job!!!!

It was an awful experience. I called Nov. 1st and left a message and he never got back with me. I sent email on Nov. 7th and called on the 9th before he finally got back to me. When he arrived he stated that the Big Deal was not for drywall. He came with 2 other individuals and they did a skim coat for 25 minutes. He eventually left without doing the work. The whole experience sucked.

Several attempts to contact were unsuccessful. After getting in touch, scheduled painting and told them I had purchased two "Big Deal" coupons (500 sq. ft. of painting), gave them my address and phone number. They did not show up as scheduled. When I called them ~1 hour later, they said "Angie's List had the wrong address" even though I had given them my address and phone number. They arrived about 30 minutes later. First they told me that all sorts of things weren't covered by the coupon--ceiling height, need for two coats (in my experience, two coats are ALWAYS needed if changing the color, which they knew we were doing) or priming, # sq ft (even though it was well under 500 sq ft). Asked for more money, said the "fine print" of the coupon stated these things. When I showed them the coupon (w/o any fine print), they said, "Well, Angie's List doesn't always show the fine print." Finally they agreed to do it for the coupon, sort of. (See below regarding installing lights.) I had provided paint and they said it wasn't enough. I went out and purchased the requested two more gallons (for $60). They didn't use any of this. Luckily, I was planning on painting some additional space these colors, otherwise the paint would be completely wasted. They also misplaced an additional gallon and specialty paint I had purchased for another project. I need to call them to find out where they put it. We also can't find the outlet covers, which they didn't want to remove to paint, but I'm sure they're there somewhere, but it's another call to find out where they put all of this. The paint job was okay. No major problems, but certainly not as neat as other work I've had done. I asked for a few touch ups which they did without complaint. They moved the small amount of furniture (including one heavy piece) without issue. They mentioned that they could do other work too and I had three light fixtures to replace existing ones. They said $50 each (I'd been quoted $25 each by an electrician), but in order to get them to do the painting, I reluctantly agreed to pay $150 for the total amount, because I needed the painting done before Thanksgiving and knew I wouldn't have time to get anyone else out there before that. Overall, not a great experience, but they were nice enough, other than asking for more money (!), and they did a fair job on the painting.

Bought coupon on Angies List for 4 hours of drywall repair. Contacted Jerome and we set up appt. Called me while he was en route to let me know he was on the way. Was punctual, professional and personable. Crew was also very personable and professional. I will definately be using him in the future for some more work to be done in my home. He has capabilities beyond drywall repair. What a gem to find!

After we had all of that bad rain and wind that lead to a roof repair, it was time now to have my leaking ceiling replaced. From the outside the ceiling did not look too bad but the inside revealed something different. I needed to replace most of the ceiling in my laundry room and I needed someone that would do the job well and for a reasonable price. Based on previous reviews on Angie’s List and a very quick response, Jerome Brown returned my call and was able to come out the same day. I told him that I wanted the entire ceiling torn out and replaced because I saw mold coming through and did not want to spread. He removed the ceiling that had mold and we discovered that it was not as bad as I thought. The wood was still wet and he told me that I needed to wait 2 weeks to replace the ceiling so that the wood would be completely dry. The entire area covered with mold was removed, treated, and did not return. So, in two weeks the wood was completely dry and Mr. Brown came back and replaced my ceiling – flawlessly. It does not even look like I will need to repaint it. He suggested that I wait to paint it anyway to make sure that the ceiling did not leak again. In addition to repairing the ceiling, he changed a lock and fixed the door latch, installed a new towel bar in my bathroom, and secured a shaky electrical socket. He told me that kitchens are his specialty so I plan to hire him in the near future to replace my countertops and a few other things. I am very pleased with his work. I just wish he accepted credit cards.

The entire job, from estimate to completion was timely, professional and first rate.

I called to arrange an estimate, and we made an appointment for between 1 and 1:30 pm. At 2pm, I called and he said that he had sent a guy over to do an estimate, but couldn't get in touch with the guy. Nobody ever came. He called later to see if I was available later that night or over the weekend, and I was not. I did not call him again to arrange another time.

The deal was to have two men come out with four hours of work. They came out and stripped and repaired my wallpaper. It only took less than an hour. The men were very pleasant. One of the workers was the owners. I asked if they could do a second room since the job had taken less than an hour. He was very reluctant. They did not clean up after the job. I will not be purchasing any other Big Deals.

They were great. We brought them over to do a couple of things which they did in a very prompt and timely fashion. Then they noticed things to fix on their own and just fix them which was really just so nice and we still had some time left. I had taken them out because there were some kitchen cabinets that were a little loose when I was opening them. I had gotten an estimate from somebody else to fix that and that was a fortune and the guy looked at me and said it was no problem. Within like 10 minutes he redid every one of my kitchen cabinets. I really liked them a lot. They were just teriffic.

I had about 5 companies come in and give bids. Overall, they were pretty good. I got them from Angie’s List and they had a good bid. They were punctual and responsive and respectful when they came over.

I had bought the service through an Angie's List special for two rooms to be painted but they only did one at the arranged price. They did a good job on that one room. I thought that they were really good. They seemed very responsible and professional. They cleaned up afterwards but they spilled a little paint on my table. I was very happy with them.

They were responsive and they were punctual. There were two of them who came out to our house and one of them wanted to know how much we paid for the house. They did not show much interest in the work and they never ever got back to me. They were asking irrelevant questions. l. But I will not use them in the future.
