This is a follow-up to a review 2yrs ago. I hired them to repair major damage from a fallen tree. Their workmanship was poor, they pulled permits but didn’t get any inspections. I questioned them on things throughout the process and was told they would take care of everything. They did not. They tried to submit a supplement to get more money (it was an insurance claim) they listed things that were not done or needed. Through a long arbitration process, a compliant and claim through the Maryland Home Improvement Commission I did win an award but the cost of attorney fees, storage and damage from their inferior work will never be recouped. And they took over 4 months to pay the award causing more fees just to collect the money due. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPAY!!!!

Let me first start by saying that I would recommend no one use this company unless you want to be ripped off. They were hired to work on insurance claims that I had and had my home key for over three months and never did any work. Additionally, I hired them to do home-improvement to my home which day were going to charge me $40,000. I paid $14,000 upfront to get the work started because the money was supposed to be paid to them in three installments. The next payment was going to be provided to them once they were halfway done and the last payment was going to be given to them once the work was completed and inspected. However, after the first payment nothing was done at all. I decided not to use them right away to complete my home improvement project because I realize that weekend as I was thinking about the situation and going around looking at potential homes that I wanted to possibly buy that they were asking me to complete home improvements in my house that were not necessary in order for me to get the home sold and additionally that if they were willing to rip off my insurance company they were probably doing the same thing to me also. When I told him after four months that I did not want to work with them anymore on my insurance claim neither because I felt that I was being ripped off and nothing was being done the owner started charging me for things that I was not being charged for instead of returning my money to me. He also started ask him to send other professionals to my home to explain to me why it was so important for me to do the home improvements that I wanted to do to start off with because if I did not get them done I would not be able to sell my home at the price the market was going for and also I would have issues with my home was being evaluated to be sold in the future. Basically, he was using scare tactics to force me to get the home improvements completed. His company did not charge to come out to look at what work I needed to have done but as soon as I requested my money I was being charged almost $2,300 for the fact that he came out to look at the work that I required. The price was ridiculous. Nevertheless, to resolve the situation I even agreed to pay this so I could get majority of my money back and as of today I still have not received any of my money back from them. This situation started on August 8, 2018 and as a result of additional damages that they did to my home in order to cause for Julia this situation started on August 8, 2018 and as a result of additional damages that they did to my home in order to bill the insurance company for work that was not necessary. Furthermore, they cause damage to my home and other areas of my home when they were looking at assessing what type of home improvements I needed and they did not repair it. I have not been able to live in my home and I have been in a hotel since this started. I’ve had to work diligently with the insurance company to try to resolve the situation that is costing me an additional $5500 out-of-pocket if not more because of the damages that was caused to my home that was not covered. The new contractors which were provided by AAA INSURANCE COMPANY I have not finish assessing the issue and I’m still waiting for the final estimates. This time around, I decided I would just go with AAA INSURANCE COMPANY contracting vendors in order to avoid this type of situation because if something goes wrong or the contractor is not doing what they’re supposed to do the insurance company will deal with them. I did not know this at first because originally, the insurance adjuster told me I needed to find a contractor to handle the claim. However, i’m glad I do know this information now. Furthermore, I explain to the owner right away after agreeing to do the home-improvement that I did not want to do the home improvement but every time I ask for my money there was one delay after another and him trying to convince me of why I needed to have the home improvements done and then he waited to work I left the country to come up with ridiculous and outrageous charges that I needed to pay for in order to receive any of my money back. I even received an email from him about two months ago saying that he was meeting with his lawyer to write up an agreement so that he could give me back my money and as of today which is January 21, 2019 I have not received any money. I am filling a complaint with the Maryland Home Improvement Commissioner along with the Consumer Protection Agency in Columbia Maryland. Sadi and his contractor David are thieves, races and will do whatever it takes to con insurance companies and you out of your money. Do you not listen to anything that they tell you and if you are a woman or elderly I would tell you to run the other way. They are good at being a con artist, telling you exactly what it is that you need to hear until they get your money. Do not utilize this company. Sadly, what makes this situation very difficult is the fact that I did exactly as I was supposed to do. I did not just pick the first person or contractor that came to talk to me or the cheapest individual. I met with the owner and David several times and spoke with them numerously over months before I even chose to use them. Nevertheless, there is no good science or caution that can be utilized to investigate a company or get to know them when they are just good at being a con artist. As a single parent with a disability and three children in college dealing with a federal shut down what they did to me was extremely devastating. It took me 11 years to save up $30,000 and I had to take out a loan for the additional $10, 000 to do home improvements to my home and losing $14,000 over night may not seem like a lot to some people but for me it was years of hard work and sacrifice. It was more than just having $14,000 stolen from me. I felt violated and abused in many ways. I had to get my home keys change, I had to take out additional money to deal with the situation and the whole issue with the government shutdown. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sleep or eat because I was so depressed, angry, frustrated and felt so vulnerable because of the situation. These two individuals walked into my life and shattered a part of it. They lied and when they could not deliver what they said they would complete, they decided to just steal my money. I felt like in many ways that they held me hostage because they were forcing me to have to work with them under their illegal terms in order not to lose my money. This is why, when at first I would not allow them to do my home improvement, I decided I would allow them to do the work required for the two home claims that I had for the basement and bathroom. However, this was not enough for them because of their greediness. When I decided I had enough of being violated and having my money held from me wrongly, I told them that they would not be doing any work in my home especially since they were causing more damage and they had not done any work in over three months. (The interesting thing is that, they were supposed to start work the same week that I gave them my money and every time there was an excuse.) As a result, they decided they were going to steal my money. This is why, I spoke with a lawyer right away which then explained to me that going through the Maryland Home Improvement Commissioner was the best option because they could fine them for the wrong that they did and I would also have an opportunity to receive my money. Nevertheless, I do not want anybody else to have to go through the hardship or the violation that these individuals did to me. They basically came into my home and they might as well have kidnap and burglarized me while holding me hostage for a ransom. Because at the end of the day, what they did was exactly that and just because they utilize a different method does not mean that’s not what they did to me. What these contractors that do these type of things don’t realize, is that, what they do have terrible and devastating ripple affects. They may have stolen my money but, I still have to pay someone else to come in and fix the damage that they caused along with fixing the damages I had in the first place when I hired them. I still had to deal with the turmoil of the violation. I am still sad and disappointed about this situation and those two contractors behaviors. However, every day I’m learning to take back control and finding a way to move beyond this. Yes, I know I can always make more money, and save again but at the end of the day, it is still difficult to deal with when the time and sacrifices that I’ve made to work hard and extra hours just to provide a nice decent home for my 3 children can never be gained back. I just ask that everyone to be careful and if you’ve had difficulty or issues with this particular contractor to please speak out so that others do not have to feel the inflictions that I have had to endure these past 6 months. I just pray that I will be able to move back into my home sometime soon. It definitely has not been easy however, I know that it will get better in time.
Description of Work: Home improvements, insurance claim for my basement and bathroom.
I had an insurance claim for a tree following on my home. Renovec stated they would do the work that was listed in the insurance claim for the price the insurance stated. I started noticing they were not doing the complete work as listed. Instead of replacing damaged drywall they just patched and painted. The roof was missing flashing, exposed wood was not wrapped with tyvek. When I questioned the work Sid said things would be fixed. Then they submitted a supplement to the insurance claim wanting more money. They stopped work saying they were waiting on the supplement however I had given them enough money to complete the interior and fix the questionable work. Several areas were not finished, the garage door frame missing header and side jamb, the roof flashing missing, gutters missing. Several items listed in the supplement were false. They stated a crane was used to lift trusses for the garage roof. I was home and watched the guys lift the trusses for the garage, there was no crane. They stated 4 new trusses were added to the interior of my home. The Howard County inspector pointed out there was only 1 new trusses added and the repair they did to the existing trusses was inferior and did not pass the inspection. I asked if they could just complete the work that was paid for, they claimed they wanted more money to complete the job. Parts of the interior are not livable, no flooring or lights. Exterior is getting damaged without gutters and house wrap. My insurance sent a 2nd adjuster to review their work and confirmed the half done inferior work. Trying to work with the HomeAdvisor complaint division, at this point moving to arbitration. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!
