Paul has been servicing my car since I moved here a year ago. Found Dobbin Auto Repair on Angie's List and have been thrilled with everything about the company. Their prices have been reasonable. They always get me in right away. Most importantly, as a single woman, I feel like they are truly there to help me. As a long-time NPR listener including to Car Talk, I know that women are often more taken advantage of than men when it comes to unnecessary repairs and padding costs. I know that is not happening with Paul. the first time I took my car he told me what they were watching for (brakes and other) but they did not yet need repair. The next time they still didn't need repair. Now the car needs some work (to be expected as I have driven it 65,000 miles with almost nothing needed to date) and I know I can trust him.
So now, lots needs to be done, but Paul helps me prioritize so that I spread out the hit to my pocketbook just a bit as we approach the holiday season.
More heaps of praise for today. I was scheduled to have the car in first thing this morning but had to schedule an emergency dentist appt instead. Left a message for Paul early, early this morning. He called me back to let me know he received the message, that it wasn't any problem at all, and to call any time to reschedule. So, I called right after my dentist appointment and he worked my car into the schedule for this afternoon.
He always check to see if I need to wait for it or if I have a ride, checks to see how soon I will need it, and in general just makes sure that the loss of my vehicle is the least inconvenient it can possibly be.

From the time the vehicle was written up to pick-up, I was treated very courteously. The work was completed on time and on budget.

Dobbin Auto Repair had a very quick turnaround. The repairs were excellent. Their customer service is wonderful.

Fine.  Dropped the car on the way to an appointment, and it was ready when they said it would be.

I brought my car to them after another shop had done a sub-standard job replacing a heater core which left me without heat.  Paul and his team diagnosed the problem, took the dashboard off, was able to salvage all of the actuators and other parts that were thought to be faulty and put me back on the road.  It was a very big job and they were mindful of the fact that I was renting a car at my own expense, so they made it happen in just a few days.  And, they came in below their initial estimate, a very welcome development.  Overall, I couldn't be happier and would recommend them without reservation.

I was past due for new brakes and was hoping I just needed pads and rotor machining.  Given the miles of my vehicle, they made the case for new rotors and were willing to work with me on the staggering price of new rotors plus new brakes.  I was able to drop the car off after hours and pick it up when it was convenient for me.  I noticed a slight shimmy after the repair and they looked at it the next day and determined that one of my tires was out of balance (though they were only seven months old) and re-balanced it for me, no charge.  The people at the desk were friendly and helpful.

Very honest, which is the most important thing for me.

I had been looking for a more reputable & honest auto repair place for a while.  We have one in Eldersburg, but that is a bit far.  I initially took our van in to Dobbin Auto Repair in May because of a screw-punctured tire.  I told them that I was looking for a local, honest solution for our car repair needs.  They repaired the tire at no cost.  That got my attention.  Our Miata's clutch gave out @ about 155K miles.  I had it towed to Dobbin Auto Repair on Sat, July 2 & got a cost estimate phone call that afternoon.  It was finished on Tuesday.  They took care of the $$ part over the phone & I was able to pick the car up that afternoon.  The cost was reasonable.  The service was great.  I'll be back.

Fantastic. Same-day service, finished within a couple of hours. Car only had one minor issue that they fixed without charge (fully expected a fee). Found another problem that is minor but could cost ~$500 to deal with. They were honest, saying that it wasn't emergent and could wait. I appreciated that they didn't try to inflate the problem into something much more severe and force me to pay it in order to complete the inspection. Had a great vibe here.
