The plans were very impressive, but a job of that magnitude was not in the budget at that time. We signed the digital contract for the smaller job we wanted done, but never received a confirmation. Over the past year I have called and left contact information with a representative answering the phone number I have for Keassons Contracting, but I never got a return phone call.
We will be in the market for a master bath remodel later this summer. Needless to say, we will not be calling Keassons. In hindsight, I wish I had kept a log of all the phone calls I made trying to get in touch with someone. I just did not ever see this becoming the problem that it has become.
The crew arrived at 7:30 on the 24th, ahead of schedule and insisted that despite what the scheduler and I had arranged the work had to be completed on one day. I spoke with Sunny Jung who told me that the person who scheduled the job with me was not the final authority on the scheduling. I felt bludgeoned by her at this point and told them to go ahead and start work, since it was becoming clear that there was an issue with communication within the company.
They completed the ripout in the morning and wanted to come back at a time when I would not be home. I ended up leaving the back door open for them because they were so insistent on completing the job in one day. They returned while I was away from the house and began applying the grout.
I had made arrangements to have the old vanity taken away and showed them the pedestal sink I had purchased for them to install. This was an extra charge that I had arranged for in the contract. I told them this several times and they seemed to understand. When I came downstairs to check on progress, they had installed the old vanity. I insisted that they remove it and install the new pedestal sink. I could hear them making more phone calls. It was late in the day and I knew they were tired, but I figured that I had paid for this and deserved to have the sink of my choice installed. They refused to haul the old vanity away, so I insisted that they haul it to the curb. In my discussions with the estimator, we had agreed that the old vanity would be removed and taken away. At this point Sunny Jung showed up and made it clear that I had caused them extra work and had upset the workers.
I believe that agreements made with the estimator need to be clearly communicated with the crew that shows up to do the work. Sunny Jung made it clear that she was right and that my original agreements with the company would not be honored. As I said earlier, I believe that there was a communication breakdown within the company.
That said, the job they did was well-done, but I'm not sure it was worth the hassle.
