I didn't hear from them for several days after I called them. Once the price was negotiated and they actually started the work they did a good job. They made a point on not leaving a mess. All the workers were very easy to talk with. I would suggest them to a friend.

They did an excellent job. The guys were very professional and did exactly what they said they would. We are very happy with the work. Both chimneys look great and they don't leak anymore!!!
Description of Work
They replaced the top of one chimney that was about to collapse and added a cap. The second chimney needed masonry work to repair it and they capped that one too. They fixed the flashing on both chimneys, which had been leaking and causing damage inside the house. They also fixed the flue in the second chimney.

I received initial evaluation of the job and estimate from Pete, the owner. He was recommended very highly by my realtor as being trustworthy and skilled. It was a bit hard to get a hold of him for a while. (Maybe particularly so this winter with all the roof damage that occurred from excessive snow). Once we agreed to do the work, though, he got a crew out very promptly. Two men, Butch and Jack, showed up first thing in the morning to do the work. They were incredibly nice, gave me a lot of detail about what they needed to do and why, worked efficiently, left my house spotless, and were quite sweet with my dog and kids as well. They were a pleasure to have as workmen in my home. I would absolutely use them again. The job was expensive, but I don't know if it would've been less if anyone else competent had done it. I think they had to do a lot of work to clean up another company's mess.
Description of Work
The repaired a great deal of damage down to our flu by a prior chimney company. They installed a liner with insulation and did brickwork.

They were extremely professional. The work was high quality. We especially liked how they used contrasting brick colors effectively (red and black). They finished the whole job in two days. The entire work area was clean when they left.
Description of Work
They ripped down the original chimney on our roof. (bricks) and totally rebuilt it and put a new cap on it (original chimney was completely cracked down the back in several places). They also cleaned the inside, replaced the damper, bricked up the ash drain, and leaded the outside around the chimney.

This is the second time I have had Patriot Chimney and Masonry out to my home this year. Each time they have been punctual, professional and work hard until the job is done. They are definitely a company to keep in your Rolodex should you need a sweep or repair. This time around they came out to install a stainless steel chimney cap on my over-sized chimney. They took their time to do the job right from start to finish and everything was completed in about 45 min. What more can I ask for in a company ?

Very well. Happy with the job. Need to do more now.
Description of Work
I contacted the owner, Pete, to get an estimate and he was able to come that day because he was in the area. We have 4 fireplaces - all needing different amounts of work. He got me a price within a week and we scheduled the work to be done in the next few weeks. he fixed some dampers that had been done poorly by a different company and did some masonry work. (I've noticed that the concrete is coming off a little bit in our most used fireplace, but that might be normal wear.) I liked working with Pete. He's ernest and hard working. He's a little bit hard to track down at times because he gets quite busy. I would definitely use him again.

The work was extremely high quality and they were great to deal with. I would absolutely use them again.
Description of Work
Pete and his crew swept three chimneys, repaired three fireplaces, and did extensive work on two chimneys above the roof line - including one very large one with intricate detail.

For some reason he has a business number, but it took quite some time for him to respond to that. Your best bet to get a hold of him is his cell phone (listed above). Results: Back chimney went just fine, no issues. Looks great. Chimney rebuild went fine, no issues, looks great. Patching of the hole in the basement was ok - I was personally expecting brick infill (but did not relay this to contractor). It was simply mortared over. Not a big deal, as it is in the basement and looks don't quite matter. Interior: Chimney cleaning went fine. Came home, and place was pretty clean for the amount of dust created. Because of the two holes requiring brick infill, the mortar had to dry before he sprayed the seal on it. So he came back the next day. Despite this, chimney mortar was still "disintegrating" when touched. Come to find out, due to the age (1870) the mortar was just limestone and sand, and the sealant doesn't work on that. He could have potentially applied some other products, but they are typically for exterior use and have a lot of VOCs. We were pretty clear about the end result of not having it flake off. He understood that, and provided an alternate solution of grinding out the lime and sand, and repointing with modern mortar, and then sealing that. It took an extra day, but he did not charge extra for this work. And the end result looks great - he could have been sloppy and he wasn't. We have these foam mats on the floor, and he even came back the next day to take a second crack at cleaning them. Scheduling: He was a "typical" contractor - what was probably 4 days of work was spread out over 10 days. It was spring and we did have some rain, but he could have been a bit more professional schedule-wise (checking out some other jobs etc). I didn't necessarily ride him on this (except for the interior work), but if it's important to you I would recommend you do that. Overall, he did good work and did a pretty d*** good job cleaning up (considering what he's dealing with - sand and dust). He did not stick it to us for the extra work he did, which I respect. He was honest the whole time, no hint of nickle and diming or cutting corners. In general, I would recommend him despite the flaws mentioned.
Description of Work
Two years ago we bought an 1870-built house with two chimneys. Scope: The back chimney: needed repointing and a cap. The front chimney: Exterior: needed a complete rebuild from flashing up, and a cap installed. Interior: Needed a hole patched in the basement from the old defunct furnace exhaust. On the second floor, chimney was previously hidden in the walls between two rooms. It was exposed during renovations of the joining of the two rooms, and we chose to keep it "natural." It had this dust/grit/sand that would come off when touched. We wanted it cleaned and sealed so that when someone touched it stuff wouldn't come off (we have twin toddlers running around, with a nanny). It required cleaning and patching of two previous stove pipe inserts (one on each side of the chimney).
