Handyman Fran

I was very pleased with the work. One surprise was that there was a big hole in the wall behind the old medicine chest, where I wanted to hang a mirror. Fran brought in wood to seal it up and hung the mirror so it didn't show. When weatherstripping a rear door, he noticed that it didn't lock securely and fixed that on his own initiative. I thought I needed to install new bi-fold doors to the laundry room, but he figured out how to fix the old one. He had to come back several times because of unforeseen problems-the vanity light I had purchased was damaged ,and the medicine chest I had purchased didn't look right, which necessitated waiting a month for a better one to arrive. Scheduling was easy and he was always prompt and efficient. It's so nice to be able to cross all these things off my 'to do' list!!

Fran returned call promptly, arrived on time, and did his usual outstanding work.

This is the second time we've used Fran. He calls ahead and asks for specifics about the job so that he can bring whatever materials and tools are needed. He arrives promptly, works quickly, neatly and efficiently. He's pleasant, courteous, and professional. He also was very helpful in pointing out where air conditioners that were on sale, which saved me quite a bit of money.

Fran returned our call a few days after we originally phoned him, but his first available was approximately 4 weeks away. Since we were having our house painted, we needed someone sooner and didn't schedule an appointment with Fran.

Fran's rate is great. As far as contractors go, he is easy to work with. He warned me that he might not be able to show up the first day, and didn't. Once when we did made an appointment, he was 1/2 an hour late which made me late for a closely booked appointment. But otherwise, he was very punctual and professional. He did what he said he was going to do. Did it the way I wanted it. Was very reasonable. Was able to come on fairly short notice. He's great for jobs around the house and I will definitely use him again!

Fran came, gave us a realistic estimate with worst case scenario and best case scenario. He was very clear that his scope of work is small repair not gutting the bathroom. Which was good as we did not want to gut the bathroom. We have plans to remodel within 5 years and just need it to last until then. Luckily when Fran removed the bad tiles and their neighbors, he found that the wall underneath was relatively salvageable. (The original builders had not used the proper materials for a bathroom.) He scraped away any rotten parts, let it dry, seal-coated and evened it out with cement, let that dry, cleaned off the ORIGINAL TILES, installed them, regrouted, and then went over the rest of the bathtub edges with more grout. He saved our wall, saved us money by salvaging tiles, gave a detailed bill of his hours, and came in at the low side of his best case scenario estimate. We are very happy with his work. Thanks Fran!

He arrived on schedule and was very nice and did everything just the way we wanted. He worked quickly and efficiently, completing the work in about an hour and cleaned up as well. We have used him on many occasions and he has always done great work. Call him with confidence.

I have used Handyman Fran many times in the past. The garbage disposal was a very minor repair but he has also done some painting, wall repair and make ready work for me. He does very good work and he is very professional.

It's great to be back in touch with Handyman Fran. He had done some excellent work for us years ago before we joined Angie's List.

Fran is prompt to respond, flexible, and is available on the weekends.

Fran was easily contacted and set up a time to view the job and do the work. It was done in a timely manner. He was respectful of my house and space, cleaned up the area, listened to my ideas, and helped me make decisions. Clearly he took pride in his work.

He did an excellent job at all the tasks involved. He showed up on time, was efficient, careful, and very pleasant to deal with. He even advised me not to have him take on another task that I wanted him to do because it was not necessary. I'm definitely calling him next time I need something done around the house, and will recommend him to acquaintances, as well.

It went quite well. We're having him back next week to do many of the small jobs that have been piling up around the house. Fran came on time (early, in fact), quickly did the job, was exceptionally friendly. His prices are quite reasonable. I'm so glad to have someone to call on for the small jobs that seem to take so long to do yourself.

We ended up not contracting with Fran because some of the tasks went beyond his area of expertise (the garage roof) and we preferred to deal with only one contractor for all the tasks. However, he deserves mention for his responsiveness and willingness to come to the house to give an estimate. It was obvious that Fran is both knowledgeable and professional, easy to deal with. We will surely keep him in mind for future jobs.

JOB # 1: Fran was on prompt, courteous, pleasant and skilled. He knows how to do just about any task that occurs in a house or apartment. He has the tools and know-how to take care of it. I would recommend him to anyone. JOB #2: This is my second report and again it was just great service with a very pleasant person.

Fran was very responsive and fit me into his busy schedule. He called to let me know he was on his way. He did the work efficiently and professionally. I will be calling him again when I need more work done around the house.

Although I didn't use Fran's services, I did want to comment on his professionalism. He was diligent in returning my phone call when I called for an estimate, and based on previous reviews, I will definitely consider using his services in the future.

In general, Fran was terrific: polite, direct, really neat, and fast! I was worried when he called to say he was delayed, but he arrived just when he said he would. He even offered to re-schedule if the delay was going to inconvenience me. His rates were great and his bill was absolutely fair. I would definitely call him again.

Fran answered his phone promptly, took all my information, and estimated a date that he could likely do the work. The day before the appt he called to confirm and get directions. He showed up on time and took down the door to work on it. Unfortunately because the door was metal he couldn't shave it down, and didn't recommend shaving down the frame. He removed the weatherstripping from the bottom of the door. In retrospect, this was something we could have done ourselves, but we thought the frame could be adjusted. There is a slight gap in part of the bottom of the door frame that Fran recommended we get another type of weatherstrip to deal with. We showed him the other jobs we had in mind but he did not have time that day. Since it only took him a half hour he did not charge his full hourly rate.

They were very pleasant, helpful, and professional.

Fran was polite and professional. He was proficient and skillful in getting the task done. Although there was not much to clean up, he did what was necessary which is a good sign he is neat. He is reasonably priced and appears honest. As for the work needed, I asked if he would install my air conditioners, look at front steps, masonry repair and caulk the bath tub area. He opted not to do the masonry work, as it was more extensive than I thought or he would want to take on. He indicated a patch job would not be the solution. I appreciated his honesty. Since Fran was here, I have added a few other things I need done. As the work hasn't been done yet, I will not be able to comment at this time. From what I have seen so far, I wouldn't think anything in the future would be a problem. He seems like the sort of person who will be honest and forthright and let you know if it is not a job he wants to undertake. This is my first experience with Angie's List.

We couldn't be happier. Fran was a pleasure to have around. His estimate was accurate, his price was modest, and his work was fine. We love the results. And he enjoyed the non-ordinary job.

I HAD FRAN COME OUT TO REPLACE THE HANDLES ON MY WINDOWS AND INSTALL SOME HOOKS IN MY CLOSETS. I ALSO HAD HIM LOOK AT MY BATHTUB FAUCET BECAUSE THE HOT AND COLD ARE SWITCHED, BUT HE SAID IT WOULD BE EXTENSIVE WORK AND I DECIDED AGAINST IT. HE WAS TO REPLACE THE HARDWARE ON THE WINDOWS, BUT GOT THE WRONG HANDLES. HE SAID THE WINDOWS WERE MADE BY PELLA AND WHAT HE GOT WOULD PROBABLY FIT, BUT THEY DIDN'T. I DIDN'T CARE EITHER WAY, I JUST WANTED THEM TO BE IN WORKING ORDER AND HE WAS ABLE TO TIGHTEN THEM AND THEY ARE WORKING NOW. HE WAS PROMPT, RELIABLE, AND PLEASANT TO WORK WITH. HE ALSO PURCHASED THE ITEMS TO BE INSTALLED AND BROUGHT THEM TO THE HOUSE AND INSTALLED THEM.
