I found that the Orcutt team was very professional and responsive. They very much wanted to make sure that I was happy with their performance and were very respectful. We were juggling several companies at the same time (electrician, hardwood refinish and install, plasterer) and Orcutt's team worked very well with the other companies and figured out who was working on what first so that we could get into the house within the scheduled time. When we noticed a few mistakes or missed spots, they were very quick to fix them and to make sure we were happy.

After I called for an estimate, they did not respond for at least a week. I chose another company that was quick to respond and provided a solution to a problem for me.

Rick is great to work with. He is very professional and also very pleasant. The quality of the work was excellent. The painter was very neat and didn't drop paint anywhere.

Rick was attentive and courteous from start to finish, as was his assistant Edson. They were totally responsive and dealt immediately with any concerns that I had. The paint job is excellent,and the team that worked here for the week were thorough, polite, and tidy. They were fastidious about cleaning up before they left. I especially appreciated the fact that they were able to paint these areas while I was living in the unit, a fact that made their work more complicated. I would hire them again for any paint job.

We solicited estimates from three different painters with excellent ratings on Angie's List. All of the guys presented well enough , but one guy (the cheapest) was pretty lax about the particulars of the job, while another went to the other extreme, suggesting myriad details we hadn't thought we needed done... needless to say, his was the highest estimate by far. Rick came in right between these other two, and right off the bat we had a good feeling about him. From that very first meeting onwards he was a pleasure to deal with - professional, punctual, and with great attention to detail. Pricing out the job was a real conversation, with plenty of give-and-take and a real effort on his part to understand our wants and our limitations. He made careful suggestions about what work his crew should handle, and what else might be left to ourselves to do later. He also freely dispensed advice about other paint-related issues in our home, like how we might go about cleaning up our crusty old radiators. The job was scheduled for a month after that first meeting, when we would be out of town for a week and thus not around to breathe paint fumes. There were some complicated logistics involving a final walk-through just prior to our departure, as well as some last-minute colour changes called in from our vacation, and Rick and his men handled all of it with skillful aplomb. The crew were themselves extremely professional and polite (we met them that first day) and did a terrific job cleaning up after themselves. And needless to say the quality of the work itself is top-notch. Oh, and Rick even sent a guy over after the work was finished and paid for to do a little extra-touch up, gratis, on walls we hadn't even included in the original work order.

Rick was very responsive and willing to accommodate our request for early morning meetings. He was very thorough in his estimate, gave us advice on paint finishes, and was competitive in his pricing. The work went one day longer than expected but we were very happy with the outcome. We did have one snag at the end - scheduling the final walk-through and key exchange - but it was fixed the next day without any trouble.

Rick was fantastic. He was prompt with his estimate and stuck to both the price and the time line. His team was professional and on time. In addition, he came in several thousands of dollars under other estimates and did a flawless job. Will definitely use him again.

The painters in my house were professional and friendly. I was very comfortable working side by side in the next room for several hours for the 2 days they were there (even borrowed their power drill for a bit). They obviously take pride in their work and take it seriously. I think it looks clearly like a professional paint job as opposed to my own paint job in the bedrooms (decent but not professional looking). We could find no areas that needed "touch-ups" when they came back the day after job finished (which is when they do a walk-through just in case). Suggestions were made to make the room/paint look even nicer during the painting, which I followed and it does! I am having them come back in the next couple of weeks to do some exterior work as my condo association is also impressed with the job/price. Oh, and they are VERY neat, cleaned up spotlessly each day and I'm not even living there yet!

I liked him; he was professional. I ended up not using him as his prices were a little too high.

We had an excellent experience with Orcutt Painting. From our initial contact at the estimate through the completion of the project, we were impressed with the professionalism, knowledge, and sincerity of Rick Orcutt and his staff. The price was very reasonable, as well as good advice to limit costs. We found the painters to take a genuine pride in their job and it shows in the high quality result. In addition, everyone we met associated with the company was friendly and personable, which made for good communication. We would strongly recommend this company to others and will definitely choose them for our future painting needs.

Rick was a pleasure to work with! He brought us a suitcase full of color samples and gave us all the time we needed to pick colors. If we selected more than one color, he bought enough paint in each color to give us a large sample on the wall, rather than a little square that didn't really show off the color very well. (This only added about $15 for each additional sample). Once we picked our color, Rick's team went right to work, finishing the whole job in just 2 days! The house was just as clean when they left as it was before they started. Rick followed up a couple days later to fix up any spots that needed work. We had just had our movers come and they scraped the wall in a couple spots, so Rick's guys patched any scrapes and repainted them. They even touched up door frames that weren't part of the job, using leftover paint from the previous owners! They went above and beyond our expectations, and we're sure to use them again for all our painting needs.

I had a previous painter who did a celing that peeled. They completely fixed the problem and it's been fine ever since. Because we were moving, I needed to get some paint jobs done in a hurry. He was able to get some jobs completed quickly which was a big help to me. I felt their prices were excellent. I would use them again.

Rick is a very professional, friendly and attentive contractor. He will accomodate a client in a very reasonable manner. His crew was polite and addressed any questions we had and will make adjustments as needed. Rick came to our home, measured the job, submitted an estimate that included licensing and insurance info we requested. Be aware, not all contractors are carrying insurance anymore, due to cost. This is important because if they take a fall in your home, YOU COULD BE RESPONSIBLE!! Still, he managed to dramatically beat the estimates of others we checked into!!

I contacted a few providers to quote this job, a couple of whom also quoted some other work. Rick came over to look at the job and generate the estimate. He scheduled the visit at a time that was convenient for me (which had not been the case with a few of the other providers), was thorough in his inspection and answered a few questions I had. Within a day I had a detailed, professional quote. He was very competitive with pricing, and that and the fact that I felt the most comfortable with him doing the job--a combination of trusting him personally and his overall professionalism?won him the work. I wasn?t wrong--the person who did the job, Riba (sorry, misspelling I think) was fantastic--prompt, thorough, respectful, and absolutely professional. After the great experience I had with the initial work, I asked Rick for quotes for essentially doing the rest of the house. We may do some of the work when we are away on vacation because I trust Rick and Riba to do the job with equal professionalism when we are not there. I have already recommended them to 3 coworkers.

Rick and his crew did a great job. When they were done, we were able to paint right away. One of the rooms had wallpaper over plaster walls that had never been painted- and the house is 30+ years old. They were able to remove it without damaging the walls at all.

Contacted Rick's company, as well as a couple others, to get quotes on removing wallpaper/painting a hallway. His pricing was towards the higher end of the quotes, but we felt most comfortable with having his people coming into the home. Amazingly fast work - done within two days and the paint job was great. What differentiated, Rick and his painter Fernando, (among the many things they excelled at), is the extraordinary service that he /they delivered from estimate, listening and responding to our needs, choice of paint, cleanliness of work, responsiveness, problem solving, communication and final review at the end of project. The experience was one of Rick going above and beyond expectations in all interactions and work outcomes. The quality of the work was excellent. We have had a chronic ceiling crack that other professionals were unable to fix. They were able to fix it, reconstructing the area and providing support that made a difference. The job was done fast, effectively and in the most effecient way. The painting was provided exactly when we requested it. Price was important and Rick provided flexible alternatives that was realistic and responsive to our needs. The experience was most positive. The value of service, quality, professionalism, experience and ability to deliver was worth it. I definitely plan to use Rick again and highly recommend him.

They were very thorough. They helped me find a color for the walls that blends. They did excellent work. They made suggestions and helped me decide what I wanted. I was full of indecision. They cleaned up after themselves. They were there at they time they said they would be. I was very satisfied with their work. My husband recommends them to anyone. He's a little more expensive but he is worth it. They also put all of the furniture back.

Rick was great. He provided us with a fair estimate (lower than other estimates we received), and was professional every step of the way. Returned our phone calls promptly and showed up the day he said he would--in fact, he ended up finishing in 2 not 3 days, which was great. Was able to complete the work while we were at work--and cleaned up perfectly after they were done, putting all the furniture back and not leaving any sort of mess. He showed up with the guy who had done the painting, Fernando, the day after the job was done just to walk through and make sure we didn't have any questions. Would absolutely use him again.

We had used them before. We have been very satisfied with them each and every time we have used them and we originally chose them from Angie s List. We were just satisfied with them again!

The people I met with were really helpful and flexible. They were able to come and paint the rooms the day after I closed on my house because I was moving. They were available on the weekends. They were able to also get it done close to a holiday. They would let my dog out when she needed to go outside.

I couldn't be happier with the service I received from Rick Orcutt and his painter Riba. Rick gave me the estimate within a day of looking at the rooms and then followed up with a call to make sure I had received it. He arranged the painting schedule around mine because I was having company and was always professional and responsive. The painter Riba was fantastic-- punctual, clean and meticulous with his work. The estimate also came in under the two other estimates I received. I have never been happier with a contractor and I will absolutely use them again and recommend them to people.

This paint job started off badly, got worse, then they walked off of the job. Amount shown is half of estimate. I was impressed with owner Rick Orcutt's painting knowledge and communication skills when I received the quote in summer 2007. When work began on our homes exterior in July 2008, he had recently taken on two business partners. Major issues were a lack of oversight, poor communication, and poor quality work. After trying to resolve these issues over several weeks (it rained often), OPC walked off of the job without completing any of the tasks. The first foreman assigned to the job was not truthful with me concerning a mistake made by OPC in selecting matching paint colors. He also did not bring to my attention several areas of obviously rotted wood, although I requested this. After these incidents, I met with Rick Orcutt and requested that this foreman be taken off the job, and that Rick take over. He refused and assigned the person who had made the paint selection mistake. The second foreman did not come to the site every day to oversee the work. Painting was not going well (see quality): The painters painted most of the areas that were scheduled for carpentry work even through the second foreman and I did a walk around to go over these. The foreman confessed he never told the crew about them. I met with Rick Orcutt a second time to insist that the foreman be present. He agreed, but not without argument, telling me my request was unreasonable. Then he left for vacation. No one came to paint despite my calls and the first dry weather in weeks. Rick returned to say that he heard I told his foreman not to come until he got back! Next day, the painter showed, but no foreman. After a couple hours, I called Rick. He said if I insisted on having a foreman, they were walking off of the job. I did. They did. They took all the leftover custom-matched paint with them. Quality: The garage began to peel a couple weeks or so after it was painted. The house is peeling in spots. The painter didn't brush in the second coat, although we were told he would. Both top coats were applied on the same day, although we were told they would not be. Over spray got onto most of the windows. The mailbox, light fixtures, copper roofing, hoses, spigots, etc. all got some amount of paint on them. Shutter hardware and exterior outlets were painted over. Nail holes were not filled. The prep work was poor, according to another pro painter we consulted. Areas of the eaves were not painted at all, not even primed. Window casings that needed caulking were not caulked. Rot on 2 sills and garage trim were overlooked. OPC?s contract has a place for me to sign, but no place for OPC to sign. OPC's contract required that we pay half the money up front. It should be one-third. Good things: The foremen and the crew were very pleasant. OPR did not try and charge me for the paint that was purchased by mistake.
