Rick Orcutt was punctual, courteous and professional when he came for the estimate. He explained in detail, how the work would be performed. He provided a written, detailed estimate within a few days that broke the cost out by room. The estimate ended up coming in the highest, but not by a lot. The decision to go with another painter was made by chance. We liked working with Rick and will definitely give him the chance to work with us in the future when we are looking at the next job.

We worked with Rick before and were delighted that his estimate was so reasonable that we could afford to hire him again. As before it was a pleasure. Rick walked us through what would need to be done (prepping walls and ceiling, using a special primer for the red wall, etc.) We set a date, his crew arrived on time, cleaned up at the end of the day, and finished within the two-day time frame. Upon completion, per Rick's request, we set up a time to meet with him to ensure that we were happy with the end result. And we are! The room looks terrific -- and this was no easy task because our living room has a number of arches over the windows and was beginning to show its age.

Their estimate was affordable. Their schedule was very good. They performed the job very quickly. Their estimate and schedule was very accurate. The employees were very professional and they were clean. I had no problems with them. They were in the house and there was no mess. The clean up was very good. I would use them again in the future.

We were in a hurry to complete the painting and Edson and crew were exactly on time. Great job!

They went above and beyond: because of moisture in the bathroom, they painted it twice at no extra charge and were very professional.

I chose Rick Orcutt after securing estimates from 4 painting contractors. Although I didn't decide to use him 'immediately' upon meeting him, once I had talked to all the contractors, I came to realize that not only was he true to his word that his price would fall 'in the middle' of the pack, but more importantly he made me feel the most comfortable, with the amount of questions he asked me about the job specifics. Rick strikes me as as a tad 'obsessive compulsive', but I like that in my painter! He was the *only* one who struggled with asking the question of how we were going to match the exisitng white trim (since I didn't want to change the color). He also didn't want to spend too much of my money -- and offered to save on the coats of trim, but was honest and willing to do the trim completely (which costs the most) when I told him I didn't want to paint again for ten years. My favorite reason for picking Rick -- he was the only one who wanted to put samples up himself. He says that people usually do more damage by painting their own samples and he spends more time covering it up...so he offered to put them up for me, which was another indicator to him the care and detail he puts in his work. The work was actually handled by a crew of three. Even though they said they would take Saturday off, they actually worked Saturday. They took slightly longer than we had estimated, starting on a Friday and taking a week. However I was also really pleased that, in the middle of the project, I asked them to patch a hole for a dryer vent, and they did a great job, and only charged me $30 extra to do so. We had a detailed walk thru when they were done where I approved the work. After I moved in I realized that a storage cubby over a closet had been painted such that the doors were 'stuck open', so I asked them to come back, which they did. Not only did they 'unfreeze' the doors (it took some banging) but they also touched up some door frames that the movers had damaged while trying to get my couch in. I appreciated this prompt responsiveness.

One young man painted and he did an excellent job. He was clean and neat and not one drip was left on my woodwork or floors. I can't say enough good things about the job that was done.

Rick came on the agreed-upon time and took the time to explain what he would be doing and how he was going to handle painting the fireplace (had been splashed with paint a couple of years back and we wanted to paint over to look similar). He was very thorough in his explanations and in his quote, which came a couple of days later. He and crew showed-up on time and were very courteous and friendly. The job was finished on time and we are extremely happy with the result, especially with the fireplace. We couldn't be happier.

Rick was very professional and knowledgable. He was always punctual and gave us good advice on what needed repainting, and what type of paints and varnish to use. He gave us an accurate quote and schedule. We were on a very tight schedule and it was a big job. We had a contractor working ahead of the repainting, and when the contractor's schedule slipped, Rick was very accommodating and ultimately the job finished exactly when he said it would. In light of all the positives, I would love to give Orcutt Painting a better review. Unfortunately the end result was poor. Rick does not do the painting or manage the jobs himself, but rather has foremen who work underneath him. Given all the other positive reviews, maybe the foreman I got was a little green and we were just unlucky, but the painting and varnishing was not well done. The trim and window work was sloppy. There was paint on the stained baseboards, fingerprints in the varnish in places, varnish on the window panes. The windows and trim were bare wood to start, and needed sanding. This was not done everywhere. In some places the wood is extremely rough to the touch. To give you an idea of how rough, if you run a paper towel over these areas, it shreds. Door and window hardware was removed by the painters to get to the wood underneath. It's great that they didn't paint around the hardware, but when they replaced them they generally did it exactly backwards. French door handles replaced so that the doors wouldn't close, window lock replaced so that the bowl overlapped the trim on the opposite sash, so that when I went to open the window I actually damaged the trim on the upper sash. The walls were patched and painted well.

I had gotten 7 painting job estimates and the prices had a range of 250%. I went with this group as I like their attitude, they understood that I had a close neighboring house that had to be considered and they were in the mid-lower range of estimates. The painters showed every day just after 8 and left around 6; there was no slacking off of men on the job and there were no radios blasting. They cleaned up each day. It took them 2 days to power was the house, about 8 days of scraping and they let coats dry. We were very lucky to have almost 100% dry weather. However, even with that it took them 15 days total to do the house. They worked every day except Sunday. They carted off all the scrapped and pealed paint. They covered all the areas no being painted with plastic so paint did not go anywhere but on the house. The only color issue was trim on the doors and lattice work; the first sample was no go but they quickly adjusted it to my liking with no complaints. At the final walk around following the completion of the job I noticed that they had not replaced the screening in the eves to keep the birds out. The work men returned and put them back two days later. Earlier they had also replaced a basement window that had broken during the power wash. Both of these items were handled without complaint. I was very pleased with the final job. It is as if we have a new house. I have even gotten comments from neighbors who have passed by on how nice the house looks. I would definately use them again.

Rick came promptly and saw the job, submitted an estimate and his workers showed up on schedule to do the job. They were efficient, pleasant, honest and hard working and easy to work with. I was pleased enough with the job to recommend them to my extremely picky boss who was also delighted with their work. I would use them again and I would recommend them to friends.

We had previously contracted with a painter to paint our master bedroom, hallways, closets along with patching the closets, closet ceiling and bathroom. This painter never showed and after so we went to look for a new painting contractor. We were looking for someone who was responsive and had a good reputation. This time we used Angie's List to research painting contractors in our area. Rick Orcutt responded quickly to our phone inquiry and showed up as expected to provide an estimate. He described the work to us and provided us with an estimate in about 48 hours, which was excellent turnaround time since he was leaving for vacation in a few days. He also talked with us about the new laws regarding painting. We agreed on a start date and on the start date, Rick and one of his supervisors arrived with the main painter on the first day to discuss the job with us in detail. The painters who worked on our house were polite, professional and very efficient. The job was completed in 7 days. The work they did on our home was excellent and we would definitely use them again. We hope that they will be available when we need to paint our home's exterior.

Spent a lot of time on prepping and repairing walls. Responsive when his guys forgot to paint one very small area and remove trash.

I've used Rick on several occaisions in the past. As always, he was very responsvie. He came over and gave me an estimate. One of his crew arrived a few days later to do the work. This person was very polite and neat. The job was spaced out over a few days and he cleaned up well each day. The wall and ceiling look great.

Rick was great, he came out and gave us an estimate. There was a time issue and he was very accomadating about this. There were some issues, a miscommunication with the foreman, told us the job was done before they cleaned up. I called Rick and he got them there to do the cleanup. There were some issues in the final product, the base coat went over onto the ceiling in the bedroom and I can see the difference in color. There is one shiny reflective spot on an otherwise mat paint in the bedroom. I know that Rick would come fix it if I asked, but we are all moved in and it seems too big a hassle. I wish I had seen the problems before. The workers were a bit messy and got white paint (or something) on the blue bathroom door. I feel a bit overcharged for the job. The workers helped themselves to food in the kitchen. My sink and toilet were very slow after and I feel they dumped something. My complaints seem petty, but enough to keep me from hiring again.

I chose this company after reading many positive comments. I was not disappointed with my choice. I was very pleased with Rick and his team. From my initial email until the final visit, everyone was punctual ,professional and communicated with me as the job progressed. The job began and ended on schedule. At the end of the work day, equipment was neatly organized and the area cleaned. I would not hesitate to use this company in the future.

Rick has done work for us in the past and we have been very pleased with his company's work and professionalism. His prices are great, and the work is flawless. Once again we were very pleased with his work on our hallway. I would recommend him very highly!

Work was done on short notice as we were in the process of moving out. Quality was great, and mess was minimal.

Everything went very well - Rick's team did a great job! The work involved a lot of prep work on the walls, ceilings and woodwork, and they took the time to do everything the right way. Some of the ceilings had some cracks in them and they were able to fix them and they look new again! The guys doing the work were also very friendly, courteous, and professional. Every night they cleaned up and made it very easy to live in the house while they were doing the work. It was obvious they took pride in the work they were doing. Rick was also quick to get back to me after my first call. The proposal he gave was detailed and very professional. I plan to use Orcutt Painting again, when we are ready to paint the rest of our house, and I highly recommend them to anyone.

From start to finish Rick Orcutt and his team not only demonstrated excellent levels of professionalism, but they were friendly, knowledgable, and set reasonable expectations on the work they could do, the price they would quote, and the results we could expect. While not the least expensive quote we received, Rick let us know we could expect them to be middle of the road, and they were based upon the 4 quotes I solicited. When we had to limit some of the work we really wanted to do to meet our budgetary needs, Rick was flexible and helped us formulate a plan that would work. His team started the job on time and finished days ahead of schedule. I never felt the job was rushed, and they did all this while coordinating with other contractors on the job, managed a couple of change requests I made midstream, and allowed me time to test some colors. Edson, the crew chief on site, was very personable and delivered the same level of committment and service I received from Rick, which left me confident the job was in good hands. When done with the job, they agreed to schedule a walk-through to assess any additional touch-ups to be done and left the house very clean and with no damage. I can't lie... I'm a bit of a control freak, but I left these guys to do the job and they got it done beautifully! The reason I've made a point to write this review is not only due to the good service provided, but the fact that Rick Orcutt went above and beyond for me. I had a key contractor bail out on me at the last minute, potentially ruining the opportunity to have some major work done that could not really be done any other time. Rick jumped in to the rescue. While he didn't want to make any official recommendations, he did help me get connected with some very qualified trades persons who did excellent work for me at a fair price. Talk about making my life easier! Thanks guys! I hope, and I trust, that anyone contracting Orcutt painting would have a similar excellent experience.

They were very punctual and professional. Everything was well prepped and cleaned up when they were finished. They did a great job. I give them all A?s for their service. I would call them back in the future.

They came when he said he would come and did a very good job. Their pricing was reasonable as well. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service.

Rick was professional and earnest from our first conversation via telephone. I appreciated his honest and positive attitude and set up a consultation for an estimate. He was willing to meet with me based on my schedule (I have a baby so things have to be timed around naps!) and he was more than understanding of this. I met with two other interior painting companies; one of which came back with an estimate $4,000 higher than Rick's and the other painter came back with a lower estimate but was not as professional and my husband and I agreed that we felt more comfortable hiring Rick to do the job. We were on a tight time line and Rick's team started as soon as possible and finished the job in less than a week. I was amazed and very impressed with how efficient the team was and how quick the job was done. Everything looked flawless and we were absolutely thrilled with the final product. I will continue to use Rick Orcutt for any future painting needs and highly recommend to anyone looking for a competent, professional and efficient painter.
