The estimate appointment was on time and estimate was professional. Painters arrived as scheduled and were clean, did a good job (preparing walls very well done) and painting was smooth and clean - looks great!

Super nice and accommodating crew arrived on time every day of the job, were clean, neat and always picked up after themselves. Did absolutely meticulous work -- the edging around moldings and fixed objects was just incredible! They patched cracks perfectly and even helped us fill a gaping hole left behind from changing out a thermostat. Really just FLAWLESS work done on time and on budget. I could not be happier! Will certainly be calling them again to paint our master bedroom suite as soon as I can pick out a paint color!

The team came when they said they would come. They did careful and neat work. They cleaned up after themselves - moving household items back to their original positions. They were friendly and open to changes in the job. A great experience. We are really happy with the results and will use Orcutt Painting again in the future.
Description of Work: Primed and painted interior of twenty-something new windows. Patched some plaster. Painted some walls.

We purchased a new house and we wanted to have the entire interior of the house painted before we moved in. We requested proposals from 3 highly-rated painting companies from Angie's List. We received proposals from 2 companies (although 1 required a lot of follow up phone calls to receive). Orcutt Painting provided a proposal quickly with a very competitive price for the project. Rick reviewed the proposal with me over the phone and told me how he would handle the job. Our goal was to have the entire house painted before we moved in. Rick was very flexible and had us prioritize the rooms, suggesting that we have the kitchen and bedrooms painted first so that they would be ready as soon as we moved in. Also, he suggested that we wait to have the foyer and hallways painted until after the movers came so that they wouldn't have to come back to repair the inevitable damage usually caused by movers. My wife and I are not very good at decorating and agonize over selecting paint colors. Rick suggested that we go to a local paint store called Phillips Fine Paints and Design in West Concord, MA. The staff was great and helped us to pick out all of the colors. They also provided us with a list of all the paints that we were using by room. Without their help, we could not have selected paint colors fast enough to allow Rick to paint the house according to our schedule. Rick suggested that we purchase a quart of each of the colors we wanted to use, which we did. He had a member of his team paint a portion of the wall in every room with our paint colors to make sure that we liked them. Luckily, we liked all the paint colors we selected and Rick could begin painting immediately. Over the next week, Rick and his team worked on the house. He periodically provided me with updates by phone, which I really appreciated. When we arrived at our new home (a couple of hours before the movers were scheduled to arrive), there was a lot of activity at the house. The kitchen, family room and bedrooms were all painted as promised and the painters were working h****** finishing the study, dining room and living room before the movers arrived. When the movers arrived, the painters stopped working and we agreed that they would return the next week to finish the job. The next week, the painters arrived early and then worked hard to finish up the job. It ended up taking 2 days to complete. They had to fix some areas were the trim had accidentally been painted and do some touch ups. Overall, they did a great job. The paint job looks terrific - we received comments from several other tradesmen about the quality of the paint job. Although there were some minor communication issues during the job, we are very happy with the work. We would definitely hire Rick again. In fact, we did hire Rick again to repaint an area of the wall were we had an electrician install an outlet and conduit for a flat screen television that we mounted on the wall.
Description of Work: We hired Rick and his team to paint the entire interior of our new home. The house is 14 rooms and approximately 4,700 square feet. We ended up using 12 different colors throughout the house.

The job went very well. We have hired Orcutt in the past and continue to re hire them because they do such a first class, professional job. Their work is fairly priced and of excellent quality. The diamond patterned windows in the bedroom require patience and exactitude to paint them well. They were done beautifully. Orcutt's staff are courteous and polite. They are quiet and considerate. No radios, no chatting on cell phones or other disturbances. They work without interruption, clean up each day, and are conscientious. I have recommended Orcutt to friends for exactly these reasons and will continue to do so.
Description of Work: Orcutt painted all woodwork in our bedroom as well as the ceiling. It's an old house --1900--and a big bedroom with large windows that have diamond patterns in the upper half of each window and large top and side moldings and windowsills. There are 4 windows in the room. Two doors were painted along with all base boards and a large old-fashioned radiator. In addition the interior of a skylight was painted.

The owner is a good guy, but some of his recent hires for painters were not professional. Professionalism =============================== 1 - After agreeing to go with them, one thing I requested was that they not touch my kitchen countertop because I failed to seal it. In only 1-2 days on the job, I found spots and swipes of paint (1/8 - 1/2 inch) on my countertop and a mess of paint in my kitchen sink. I immediately contacted the owner to complain about this and item #2, hoping that he would relay the message to the painters. I came in the next day to find keys on the countertop. Even after asking the painter in person to not touch it/put stuff on it again, that same day he put his arms on the countertop to listen in on the conversation I had with his colleague, and I was not happy when I saw that. They made me do extra work to clean it (again). ***I have not been able to fully take out the paint spots they left on my countertop. 2 - The painters left the lights on after their work was done, wasting energy. 3 - The painters walked all over my carpet floors with their shoes on. When they came to pick up their materials to end the job, I asked them to take off their shoes, especially when walking on the carpet. They hurried past me saying they had no time to take off their shoes and instead would walk on the drop cloths on the first floor. When they went to gather stuff from the second floor, however, I exclaimed that they had their shoes on my carpet. The painter responded, "What the h*** is wrong with you? My shoe is clean, see?", and continued on to the second floor with his shoes on. 4 - They used my ladder to do the high ceilings without asking me. The owner said that they should not have been using my ladder anyway. 5 - They used the wrong ceiling paint. Because I asked them to touch up the edges on one room that I painted, they asked if I had the paints so that there won't be a color mismatch. I brought leftover paint into the room where they needed it, and they thought it meant that I wanted the cheap behr ceiling paint on all the ceilings, that they should use all the paint I bought, and that they had permission to go through a closed room (cannot lock) to find 2-3 more gallons of ceiling paint. But it perplexes me because I asked them several questions at the walkthrough like: Are you using all Benjamin Moore paints? Do they have a standard white ceiling paint? The owner said he would reimburse me for the paint used, but there's another problem (item #6). 6 - They used the wrong wall and ceiling paint in the bathroom. During the walkthrough, I also asked if they would use specific bath paint for the walls and ceilings (b/c of moisture). They said yes. However, they used my cheap behr ceiling paint in the bathroom, which is not mold-resistant. Also, they used eggshell finish on the bathroom walls. Benjamin Moore has a specific kitchen/bath paint, and satin finish is more recommended than eggshell for bathrooms. ***The work they did in the bathrooms had to be redone because they used the wrong type of paints. 7 - The painters seemingly used the drop cloths on carpet floors only because I found a gob of paint and a circular swipe on my kitchen floor, spots on my dishwasher and on the top of my refrigerator doors, on two bathroom countertops (1/8 in dot to 1/2 in streak), on the shower wall and its flat surfaces at the top, and multiple swipes on the small shower bar over the nook that can hold soap. Quality =============================== 8 - The painters damaged the property and marked walls that they weren't requested to paint. I found multiple knicks to the door trim from getting their ladder through. I found two knicks on my shower wall that are from their ladder. They swiped ceiling paint on a wall that I didn't ask them to paint. On that same wall, they swiped their ladder on it, leaving a green mark that's visible from 3 feet away. They also put some kind of oil on another wall that they weren't supposed to paint, as there's a dark streak/drip (at least 1 ft) on it. They said they don't know what I want to do about those situations, so they're my problem now. *** I needed to pay more to fix their mistakes. 9 - The owner said the bathroom the painters considered done needed one more coat. In several areas, I could see through to the original paint color. 10 - The painters were lazy painting in one area. It was at the bottom on the front side of a bathroom countertop. The area is not too visible when standing. At the same time, it's not hard to reach either. Orcutt's painters just swiped it, and they didn't even cover all of the previous painter's swipe. So there's three colors, white, the original paint, and the new paint. 11 - Where I asked them to touch up the edges, they overlaid the wall paint onto the ceiling and then painted the ceiling. However, they did not put enough ceiling paint the keep the wall paint from seeping through. I'm sure we could've fixed it at the final walkthrough. 12 - There were areas where they would've needed a few swipes of trim paint from me because they painted over my trim. At the same time, I do appreciate the owner's desire to complete the job and fix the issues presented and willingness to fit this job into his schedule (we started maybe 2 weeks after our initial contact). The painters did not eat on my carpet and left a box of trash. They also informed me about issues like how I needed more coats of paint on the ceiling to cover up the wall paint that bleeded onto the ceiling so that I'm not surprised at the end. Ultimately, after speaking with the owner, we decided to end the job unfinished.
Description of Work: Paint various rooms for ceilings only, ceilings and walls (not trim) and touching up edges of one room. This is for 7 rooms total.

Response from Orcutt Painting Co
In response to this review the bottom line is we were taken by this client. I feel she had it in her mind to to hire us with no intention of paying for the job. What was failed to be mentioned in her review is no payment was ever received for the work. As to her accusations let me start by saying she did a lot of the painting on her own before we even started job. This involved us attempted to rectify her mistakes. We witnessed for instance her hitting the walls with her ladder and then blaming the dings on the wall on us. When my manager tried to explain this he was met with a barrage of foul language. At that point i call the client to arrange a face to face meeting with me to address any and concerns. I was given times such as 10:00 pm on a Sunday night to meet. When i asked about possibly meeting at 12:00 pm i was told she would asleep. We did eventually agree on a time that was suitable to her and discussed concerns on job. I quite frankly was surprised by some of the concerns pointed out at that time such as her showing me a green dot on a cardboard box that a table was purchased by her (The dot was a stamp applied by store to show it was purchased and paid for). I was told due to dot on box she could not use table as bizarre as that sounds. I was told we washed our brushes in her sink and she would have to throw them away as they were now poisoned. The sink was never used by us and was always full of dirty dishes to prevent this if we even attempted to. I offered to address any and all touch-ups or concerns on job and was told she would complete job on her own. As i have stated in any reviews we receive that are not favorable or straight A'S we will continue to provide a quality job on all aspects as we have done for the past tens years on Angie's List.

If you are looking for extremely good value with great results and excellent customer service, then Orcutt Painting should be at the top of your list. There's a good reason why they win the Angie's List annual service award. Rick, the owner of the business, was a pleasure to work with and his crew was always courteous and willing to address any issues without hesitation throughout the job. And just as importantly, Rick and his crew can be trusted, an important criteria for anyone that comes into your home. Rick promptly scheduled a visit soon after I reached out to him. He was able to provide a detailed estimate, giving a room-by-room cost breakdown, and even noting how much it would cost to paint the ceiling versus the walls. It allowed us to prioritize which areas to focus on, given our budget. After the work had started, Rick reached out to me several times to ask how the job was progressing, and reiterated that if there was even the slightest concern, that they would be more than happy to address it. And that offer still stands, after the work has been completed. It was clear throughout the process, that they are focused on making the customer happy. The crew was also great. They worked diligently and appeared to manage their time effectively. The overall job took much quicker to complete than expected, without sacrificing on quality. Also - we gave them paint samples, which they were easily able to match the colors exactly with the vendors that they work with. They were respectful and friendly every singly day, and did a great job communicating when they would be coming and leaving on a daily basis. Overall, punctuality is grained into their work ethic, because not once did they fail to show up at the time that they specified. The painted rooms came out great, and we are very happy with the results. When we are ready to tackle other parts of the house, Orcutt Painting will be receiving the call.

Living room ceiling had suffered extensive water damage as well as a calcimite problem; bathroom ceiling paint was peeling due to shower moisture over the years. Orcutt Painting plastered and used oil based paint. They were right on time and cleaned up well each day. Project took 3 days.

Rick is incredibly professional, always available and extremely accommodating. He works with you the throughout the entire process. He is diligent in coming to assess the job, provide an honest quote, and then complete the job in a timely manner. His whole team is friendly, timely, and incredibly clean. After this most recent job, I couldn't even tell that they had set foot in my house, that's how clean it was! Of course, the paint job itself is immaculate. We had several tricky corners with bright colors and old gumwood, and Rick's team did a fantastic job of ensuring super straight, very clean edges all around. I am incredibly picky and a true perfectionist and Rick was very responsive in ensuring that all of my needs were met. I have recommended him to others, too. The quality of the work is outstanding and he is very easy to work with, as is his team.
Description of Work: This was my third time using Rick and his stellar painting crew. My sister originally used Rick to paint her house and referred him to me several years ago because he did such an outstanding job. He painted my entire former condo, he painted my ENTIRE house - top to bottom, every room, wall, and ceiling - after an extensive renovation, and this most recent job was to paint the attic following a plastering job.

Our experience with the provider was great. First, Rick was able to come give us an estimate very quickly. He was honest and professional in his assessment of the work required, and discouraged us from doing a few things we were thinking about doing that likely would not have turned out well. We'd gotten a few quotes and this quote was very reasonable. Second, Rick was extremely accommodating in scheduling our painting. We asked if he could do the work very soon and quickly (i.e. within a week), since we were expecting family for Thanksgiving. He find a way to work us into his schedule to meet our timeline, which was great. Last, the final product exceeded our expectations. The kitchen looks absolutely amazing! I'd highly recommend Orcutt Painting!

Rec'd written estimate 8/29/13 detailing what would be painted and how the surfaces would be prepared. Spoke w/ Rick 8/30, he agreed to begin the work on 9/23/13 shooting to finish 10/11/13 prior to our hosting an event. Rick estimated work would be completed in 2-3 weeks, he would assign several crews to the project b/c substantial work on three different floors and crews could work without being in each others way. 9/14/13 emailed Rick suggested that start date be moved out to 9/30/13 b/c our window installation might be delayed. Asked if it could still be completed by 10/11/13. No response from Rick. Called him 9/17/13. He advised that based on my email about a possible delay with the windows he had rescheduled the job for 10/16/13. I strenuously objected explaining that it was imperative that the work be completed as soon as possible, if not in time for our family gatherings the weekend of 10/12-10/13, then in time for our Halloween Open House. After a very lengthy conversation Rick agreed to begin the work on 10/14/13 and promised that if possible he would "shake a coupla' boys free" to get started on removing the wallpaper on 10/9/13 so that when the painting crews arrived on 10/14 everything would be prepped and ready to go. 10/9/13 crew of 2 arrived with supervisor Ray. Didn't have tools to remove wallpaper so instead prepped and painted the trim in the living and dining room. Ray promised to come back following day and review the job and collect first payment . No show on 10/10. In the meantime I had concerns about the job. Estimate stated trim would be "sanded smooth" and 2 coats of paint applied. Instead trim was just "roughed up" and painted over "warts" and all. When I expressed concern about all the scratches, dings, drips and sloppy brush strokes from previous painting that were still highly visible after they painted, told have to talk to Ray. He was a no show again 10/11. Painting continued in a way that did not meet our expectations. 10/12/13 sent an email re my concerns. No response. 10/14/13, only one painter showed up, not "several crews." Informed me that he and the other painter, Clebson, would be the only ones on my job. Another email on 10/14 questioning that the painters were continuing to paint when I had a concern about the result. On 10/16 Ray came to look at the job said it was fine. Draggy brush marks going in multiple directions were caused by previous bad painting and their was nothing they could do about it. They could not fill the dents and cracks in the door trim even those @ the joints b/c the repairs would just fall out. He explained that one of the best crews was working on my house and would get it all done very quickly. I was not pleased and said so.Rick came out next and said it was not possible to repair all the imperfections without a palm sander and that his painters do not do restoration work and I wouldn't like the prices if they did. He agreed to have the painters re-sand the worst ,largest imperfections and asked the painters to do their best in the future to get the trim as smooth as possible. He said that due to work for one of his commercial accounts he could only assign one crew to my home but they were "two of (his) best boys and would get the work done very quickly and efficiently. " They did sand and fill some of the more noticeable spots but never went back and touched up with paint.. When I inquired they said they would do all the touch ups at the end. Two days only one painter came. Three days one of the painters had to leave after a few hours due to illness. One day both painters left after a few hours to go to "an appointment"and did not return. Twice when I left town for the day in the mid morning my husband came home at lunch time to find the painters gone, too. Both times he worked at home the remainder of the day and they did not return. We were unable to have our Open House. The discrepancy between the description of how the work would be completed in the estimate and the actual work continued. I started reviewing the estimate with the painters as they moved from room to room, pointing out the same problems I had identified to Rick and asking if they would be able to address them. Work was more as expected but was still taking much longer than Rick had indicated because of just two painters one of whom was essentially "part time". Ray never returned. Called Rick about a problem with one wall. Agreed to come out on 10/24/13 and look at it. No show, No call. Dropped in10/28. I commented, he said, "well I wasn't feeling well." Overcast day too dark to see problem. Bits of old wallpaper and glue the previous owner had applied a faux finish over, something I had pointed out to Rick when he bid the job, were causing a number of bubbles in the new paint. He promised to return in afternoon one of the next two days to take a look at it in better light. He also asked for another payment as "half way done." I noted only small entry hall and dining room were completed with one wall in the dining room being unsatisfactory. The living room only three walls painted and they were now working on a room on the lower level. No work had been done in main level kitchen, in any of the bedrooms on top level and they were only part way through one of the three areas on the lower level. Per Rick, wallpaper removal biggest part of job and remaining work easier and would go quickly. Collected the 2nd payment on 10/28/13, advised the work should be finished within a week. Didn't return to look at the wall as he had promised but it was eventually skim coated as he'd described when he bid the job, and repainted. It looked much better. The two painters, who were very nice, suggested I wait until the end when they'd finished all their touching up and then review any remaining areas of concern with Rick. 11/12/13 TWO weeks after 2nd payment collected,Rick called said finishing on Thursday 11/14. I expressed surprise. Still one full bedroom to paint, at least one wall and its associated trims in two other rooms. Bookcases and mantle not even installed. LOTS of touch up. Some baseboards throughout the house had not been caulked and only received 1 coat of paint. Advised Rick wrong bookcases delivered and we might not have the correct ones until Thursday. I wouldn't be able to attach them to the wall until my husband came home. Rick stated they would finish up everything else and then come back the following week to paint the bookcases and mantle. I told him it concerned me that he would leave the job unfinished as I was afraid he wouldn't be able to get someone back before Thanksgiving. He gave me multiple assurances that would not happen.. 11/14/13 Rick came out to look at the bookcases and again explained why he wanted to wait until they were installed to paint. I agreed to his plan to have Sam and Clebson return the following Thursday and Friday to paint the bookcases and mantle. I showed him two other small painting jobs not originally included and asked if they could complete them when they came back the next week since they would need something to do while each coat dried.. He promised an email estimate the next day,and if I agreed, they'd come back and do it all on 11/21 and 11/22. I understood "it all" to mean the new painting jobs as well as the bookcases mantle and final wall in the living room. Rick asked for a final payment minus the cost of painting the bookcases and mantel. I asked to review the "touch up list" with him and he said I could just give the list to Clebson and he would make sure it all got done. I issued the final check less $800 for painting the bookcases and mantle because he Rick said he needed it for "payroll purposes". I understood that they would be finishing the 2 incomplete rooms and the touch up the next day, Friday. They were still in the process of painting the last bedroom which would take the rest of the day. After Rick left with the check I found out that the painters were going to another job the next day, Friday, and planned to finish the two rooms and all the touch up on the 21st and 22nd when they returned to paint the bookcases. I was disappointed but not overly concerned as the men doing the painting were very conscientious workers. The last room did look like rush job it was. Crack repairs not skimmed, tape visible, over paint on the cabinets and desk. Shelves bubbled up like a 2nd coat added before first was dry, etc. Saturday 11/15 emailed Rick, advised bookcase and mantle installation might not be ready to paint until first thing Friday, 11/22. Wanted to add the work included in his 2nd estimate and also asked if crew could repair paint on the front door frame and the wall around it damaged that day during an emergency door replacement. This area had already been completed and I understood there would be an additional cost to do it over. I also asked if he preferred to do the work on 11/21-11/22 or if Mon and Tues 11/25 -11/26 would be better. I didn't know how much time the bookcases and mantle would need to dry between coats. No response to email. Called Rick 11/19/13. Informed me that since the bookcases might not be ready until 11/22 AM he'd decided to reschedule the work until after the holiday. I did not agree. Requested that Rick at least complete the work for which he'd already been paid as promised, on 11/22- 11/23. Said I'd get someone else to paint bookcases and mantle. Rick agreed to have painters at my house at 8:30 AM on 11/22. Then next day Rick emailed he wasn't feeling well and so again, would complete the work after Thanksgiving. I responded I was sorry he was ill but that this was unreasonable as he was not the one doing the painting. I needed Sam and Clebson to come back and finish the job which I had already paid for in full a week earlier. No one showed up today. No email No call.

Response from Orcutt Painting Co
In response to this complaint I ask all members to please view our companies past reviews prior to judging us on this one. I do not know where to begin on this review. Firstly I disagree with most of the negative feed back we have received and must say it is mostly false. As to delaying start of job we had to wait for windows to be installed in order to properly start painting. That is something I had no control over. When we did start job it became apparent after 2-3 days we were in a difficult situation. A concern of the quality of work was expressed to my manager (who has been employed by me for 14 years). When he met home owner to address this issue in a professional way he was asked to leave the home and not return. I then personally addressed the issue and explained how the job would proceed and was told everything was fine. Throughout the time on this job my men were subjected to very bizarre behavior on a daily basis. On numerous occasions I visited job site to address issues with quality of work and was meet with various moods from the home owner. These concerns when pointed out I honestly could not see any imperfections and explained this in detail. For instance when a wall was pointed out that she was unhappy about I observed no flaws and quite frankly was at a loss as to how to fix something myself or my men could not see. I on numerous occasions explained all concerns and was assured she was satisfied with the quality. After over a month on this project and being delayed with installation on new trim I was given options on when to return and finish job. I opted for one of the dates offered and was told no it had to be another date she listed. My manager, my crew and myself tried during this job to satisfy and please this client and as I mentioned earlier the behavior on her part was near impossible to deal with. I have never left a job unfinished in thirty years in this business and was not about to do it on this job. As to receiving a final payment and not completing job that is untrue. We did receive a progress on my last visit to jobsite. It still left a remaining balance owed upon completion. During my last visit there I was asked to estimate additional work which I did and was excepted by home owner. I ask with all these negative views why would she ask us to do further work in her home? Our company has been a service provider on Angie’s List for 10 years and are very proud of the work we have provided to members. We will continue to provide the quality and professionalism we have done so over this time period.

The Orcutt painters met and exceeded my expectations! Ray did the estimating, I spoke with Rick only via phone, and Jose and Samuel did the work. All involved were friendly, responsive, responsible and reassuring. My room required a lot of prep work...years of old paint were clumped on trims and blistered into the original plaster moulding. The Orcutt painters really worked hard. They showed up on time, cleaned as they went, left their tools in an organized area each evening. Not only could they do the work (and did!) they seemed like genuinely nice people and were easy to have around. Communication could have been a little smoother, since Ray was out of town, Rick was available only via phone, and the painters English is limited. But, all major points were understood and the work I was hoping to get accomplished was done well. I would definitely recommend them, and would love to hire them again.
Description of Work: Prepped and painted large living room with 11ft ceilings, plaster crown moulding, newly plastered ceiling and wall.

Rick was fantastic overall. He was proactive in reaching out to make sure that I had all of the information that I needed to be comfortable as a customer. He was patient and took the time to answer any questions that I had and made sure that I understood the overall process. He was flexible and worked with me to revise his initial quote to better fit the budget that I had. His crew was punctual, prompt, clean, and very professional. They made sure that we knew the order in which they'd be performing the work, so we could move our pets over the several days that they'd be on the job. The quality was second to none - they didn't cut corners and made sure that the work they did was done the right way. For example, they patched sections of the wall that they thought would have compromised the overall finish even without being asked. I plan to use Orcutt painting again, once some of my current construction projects are complete. Based on this one experience, I couldn't recommend them more highly.

We had a wonderful experience with Orcutt Painting. Rick was great to deal with from our first meeting to the end. He explained how everything would go and dealt with all of our concerns. He was very patient with our difficulty in scheduling, as we had other work which needed to be finished first. His crew was extremely respectful and professional. They completed the work within the time allotted . We would definitely hire them again, as it was a very pleasant and stress free experience. The work was done beautifully.

We got a recommendation from an interior designer, Sarah Krieger, for Orcutt Painting. Rick and his team were responsive, professional, and they did a great job. They were very accommodating to our scheduling needs and the work was done when they said it would be. They are very courteous, clean up each day and take pride in their work. They do the prep work that leads to an outstanding result. We are very happy with the painting in our kitchen, bathroom and hallway. It was a great experience, start to finish and we'll definitely use them again.

The job went very well. At first I was going to paint the entire house, which several other paint companies suggested. When Rick came through he suggested that I only paint certain rooms, because some were in good shape already. So he probably saved me a few thousand by limiting the scope of the work. Other than that everything went smoothly.
Description of Work: Paint selected rooms within an income property that we own. He also did some minor drywall patching in advance of the painting.

Rick returned my initial call the same day and was able to scope out the job, provide a quote, and start the work within that same week. I needed to get the space painted before an open house the following weekend and I appreciated that he was able to squeeze me in between larger jobs. The job was complicated by a quirky layout and by the fact that certain walls and doorways were to be left unpainted, but both Rick and his employee, Ray, asked the right questions, followed my instructions, and the results were exactly what we wanted. We are planning on using Orcutt Painting to paint the dining room and living room in our single-family home, because we are so pleased with how the condo turned out.

Overall, things went very well for this project. We called Orcutt and left a message. Rick promptly followed up to set up a consultation. When we met at the house for the consultation, Rick was a little early (as he was for each meeting). We walked through the house explaining what we wanted to do. Rick offered some suggestions on which finishes would work best in each room. We received our quote by the date that Rick had promised. We could not compare prices as a competitor did not bother to show up for the consultation. Rick's quote seemed fair so we hired Orcutt to do the work. We scheduled start and end dates - one week total ending October 25. Rick also asked if his guys could start early if there schedule opened up. Since we had not moved in yet, that was ok with us. We gave Rick the paint samples and a key on October 9. The next day, Rick called and asked if his guys could start. When we stopped by three days later, we found the house was already half finished. There was one slight glitch. The crew had misunderstood one of the color choices for my daughter's room. We communicated that to Rick who assured us it would be corrected. Orcutt changed the room color at no charge. We also asked that they add a third coat to another room as the previous darker color was showing through the much lighter new paint. There was a small fee associated with the third coat as our contract was for two coats in each room. That was fair. On October 18, Rick called to let us know the job was done. One week ahead of schedule and the house looked great! I would definitely hire Orcutt Painting in the future and would recommend them to others. Rick and his crew were always punctual and professional. They take pride in their work and do great work.

The quality of the work was very high, and the staff were professional. Ray showed up on time, provided the estimate, and we were able to schedule the work right away. When we decided we wanted the ceilings painted, Ray quoted us a very fair price for the additional work. The team was punctual, hard working, and I had the feeling they had a strong sense of pride in their work. Each day we came back to a very clean apartment. We had an apartment in an older building, and there was a massive amount of patch work required. For this reason Rick's quote was higher than anyone else. I can say the extra money was worth it; the patches aren't visible at all. They even re-patched behind the fridge. I'm thrilled with the final result. Prior to finishing, there were a few small problems with the job (there always are). Rick and Ray handled with the utmost professionalism. I only mention them here because it's important you know Rick stands behind his work; if there is a problem, Rick and his team are incredibly concerned with going beyond solving the problem. For example, there was a spot missed in our bathroom (waay out of the way, between sink and wall), and I wasn't sure the new paint matched. Breno, the foreman for our job, offered to repaint the whole bathroom in the "new" color. This wasn't because they mixed up the paint, it was only because I mis-remembered the name. Of course the paint matched, and of course Breno repainted the whole wall just in case. Throughout the whole process, I had the idea that they were very concerned with our satisfaction on the work. I will look to Rick and his team again next time I have a painting project. They are professionals.

Rick Orcutt and the team of painters assigned to our job (Greg, Richard, and Damien) were just outstanding. After calling around the area for some phone quotes, I spoke with Rick and was struck by his professionalism, authenticity, and knowledge. The quotes we received were very reasonable and the team was able to accommodate our request for fast turn-around. The painters were punctual, friendly and knowledgable of their trade. We could not be happier with the results and plan to use them for future paint jobs.

I got quotes from 3 painting services for my job but I was under a tight timeline to move into my house and Rick was very responsive which made him easy to work with. He personally did the initial estimate and walked through the house with me, patiently listening to my concerns and explaining different options. He got the quote to me quickly and spoke directly to another vendor doing new hardwood floors in parallel to work out the schedule without me having to be in the middle. His crew showed up and did great work: they were professional, worked quickly, made no mess, they removed all of my blinds at the start and reinstalled them at the end, and the final result looks excellent. I spoke to Rick several times during the job and he personally inspected the results when all was done. I wouldn't hesitate to call Rick again for my next painting job.
Description of Work: Converted finished wood trim around doors and windows to paint. Painted risers and skirts on 2 flights of stairs. Touched up baseboards after another vendor installed hardwood floors.
