Service Provider ResponseWe are sorry for you disappointment. We do not set the prices for the water testing. I believe you were given a price list with the test packages available and told that we only draw the samples and deliver them to the lab. You had the choice of using our lab and having us draw the samples or doing them on your own. We get a very nominal fee for doing that and the remainder of the money goes to the lab as we have to pay for the samples when we drop them off. We must prepay for test kits, pick up the kits at the lab and then return to the lab to deliver the tests. There is considerable time involved in this running around. Had you done the running around and testing yourself, it would have saved you considerably as it apparently did on you next inspection. With regards to going on the roof, our inspectors climb roofs at every opportunity, if it is safe to do so, however it is not required. Also, there is a huge liability issue in letting a client on our equipment to climb a roof. If you were to get injured we could be held responsible. The homeowners are agreeing to let a professional on their property and to climb the roof, not a home buyer who has no experience in doing such. It could create for a very dangerous situation. We are prohibited in letting our clients do any such thing. The homeowners would also be at risk for letting a non insured, unlicensed and non professional climb on their roof. After the review of report to you it appears as though there were many, many defects reported in the inspection report and clearly identified with multiple pictures taken from on the roof. Paul remembers the house well, and quite frankly wasn't surprised that you did not buy it. Paul and all of our inspectors go out of their way to provide excellent service with the highest of standards to all of clients. We have received the highest of reviews from all of our clients and have been awarded Angie's List Super service award five years in a row. Apparently, we can't please everyone though. Pricing for our inspections are set according to the size of the house, age of the house and the amount of detail that goes into our inspection reports. Again, if you had done all of your own testing the fees would have been considerably less. Based on other inspection reports we have seen and for the money that we charge our inspections and reports are far superior to that of many inspectors and we believe our prices reflect the quality of work that we do.
