Initially Mr. Howe was hired to replace worn brick steps and to landscape our front yard. Mr. Howe presented what we thought were great ideas for our original project and also presented us with ideas for further projects. Thus we expanded on our original plans. At the start of our project all seemed well. As the project progressed, a staff member who had been with Mr Howe's company for quite awhile suddenly quit. We would hear from other staff members of the problems they were having working for Mr. Howe. Eventually progress slowed way down. Part of the problem was the rainy weather, then even if only a threat of rain was in the forecast, no one would come to the job site. Later in the project, the crew would just not show up, and we found out from a crew member that the crew was working on someone else's project instead of completing ours. What should have taken a couple of months to finish only partially was  finished even after 2 years. We fired Mr Howe at that point.  As the previous  reviewer mentioned, we were the family in Arlington, that was sued by a stone vendor that Mr. Howe did not pay. We also had a lien placed on our home. We had to hire a contract lawyer and pay out of pocket to get resolution and have the lien removed. We hired another masonry company to finish the uncompleted work, thus paying twice for the same project.  We were so looking forward to improving our property but instead this ordeal with Mr Howe turned into what seemed to be a never ending nightmare!  To this day the problems still exist. The electrical wiring that was laid by an electrician that Mr Howe recommended does not work. We will have to hire another electrician at our cost to remedy the problems! Unfortunately Mr. Howe and Landscape Design did not have any reviews on Angie's list when we were in the process of hiring him. We want to make sure that no one else is being taken advantage of by this landscaper.

I’ve had this landscaping company for years. He's been reliable and the work he does is okay. Sometimes there's a communication barrier, but otherwise everything is good.

We hired him in summer of 2009 to design and build a patio project. Dave has good design skills and tells you what you want to hear, but he has zero ability to execute. He told us the construction would be a 4-6 week project. A year and half later it was still not done and our whole yard was completely destroyed. He consistently was not truthful with us, and in the end did not pay his suppliers either. They (stone suppliers we never met) put a lein on our house and it cost us thousands in legal fees to get removed. He never finished the project (completed approximately 80%) and stuck us with additional money we had paid him, incomplete work and shoddy quality. We considered suing him, but were told by a couple of his guys that there were other homeowners in the exact same situation. We talked to another homeowner in Arlington that also was cheated. We deemed it a lost cause and that it would just continue our agony. We are still in the process of hiring others to finish the project. It was a horrible experience. We felt cheated and lied to. Obviously we would never recommend him.

Landscape Design Inc. comes faithfully every week during the growing season. They are very dependable and do excellent work on the yard. I also use them to trim trees and plant things. Those things cost extra, but the price I'm showing you is for just the mowing.

It has taken him well over 6 months to do the work. He pulled up my main water pipe, ripped up my new wall pipe connection, ripped up with disregard to our existing sprinkler system, took off a portion of my deck (my outdoor shower). Constant delays in schedules, and I just recently fired him due to his refusal and to do the overdue work and the length of time and his inability to come over to do the work on a consistent basis. We have a payment schedule where he is two months behind. Very difficult to work with, bullied me on payments and jobs when things weren't complete. Took him over three weeks once the trees were down to start work. Ordered the wrong blue stone which they had to take back. At this point I have paid all but 85% of the contract, and I am without a grill, granite top, 30%-40% of the plantings, mulch, loam and I have hired somebody else to finish the job.
