Gentle Giant Moving & Storage Somerville

Gentle Giant impressed me with their quote process, which was very detailed and professional, unlike a competitor who origiginally sent me someone else's quote! On packing day, a team of people carefully and quickly packed up all of our belongings, taking time to check with me about a few key items I might want to leave out overnight. On move day, the same team plus a few extra hands showed up promptly and hustled all day, taking special care not to damage our recently refinished floors. Finally, a small team returned on the third day to unpack many of our belongings-the kitchen was set up before I knew it, all our books were back on the bookcases, and my children were able to play with their toys in their new rooms right away. Nothing was broken, everything was professionally and cheerfully handled, and we were able to throw a party for 50 people 3 days after moving in, thanks to Gentle Giant!

I was out of town, and trying to figure out where I would get moving boxes to store some things while my house was on the market. Boxxpress.com to the rescue! I was able to order a variety of boxes and packing material on line, and they were delivered free to my house the day I returned. I was able to "get packing" right away! The website is filled with tips and advice on packing and moving, and the price was reasonable. They also offer "used" boxes at a discount, which I did not take advantage of this time, but would next time.

They're the official mover for me. They show up on time, get everything done quickly, and are careful with all my valuables and furniture. I was very impressed because they hustle and wrap everything up correctly and I'd recommend them to everyone!

I have used several moving companies for both local and long distance moves. I have to say that Gentle Giant was much better than any of the others I have used. They took extreme care in wrapping all the furniture pieces. They asked exactly what I wanted and made sure everything was done according to my requests. They paid attention to every detail to make sure things were not scratched, slid across the floor, etc. They gave great advice on several issues;even where to place the furniture! However, they also took effort to let me make the final decision.

This company is #1 in Boston and I see why. From initial contact to the move day, they exceeded my expectations in every way. The movers, 3 of them, showed up early, were extremely polite and courteous, and busted their tail the entire time! They knew all our names (my wife and I) and were extremely respectful in every way. They have made a customer for life and I will not even consider using anybody else for future moves. Their prices are great, and I refer everyone I know their way. A++

Excellent, they do everything, they promise and more. Not cheap but "you get what you pay for". Moves went perfectly and movers were the best.

The office personnel were generally responsive and pleasant but the actual movers were truly impressive. All were professional, pleasant and respectful and despite the fact that the day of our move was one of the hottest on record, they worked with remarkable skill, speed and care. Their pricing was a bit higher than some of the other companies we contacted but we hired them on reputation. Based on our experience, we concluded their good reputation is well deserved.

They were very careful with our things. They were also very professional and were very much worth the money that we spent. I would highly recommend them.

This was a great experience. The move coordinator was very helpful and asked great questions during the planning stage. He checked in the day before to confirm. The movers arrived on time, did a walk-through to confirm what needed to be moved, and then got right to work. They were quick but careful, and handled my furniture and boxes with care. At the delivery site, they set everything up as I requested, and there was no damage or any other problems. They were even able to get a heavy tool chest with major sentimental value into the basement, which I didn't think would be possible. The movers were friendly, professional, and extremely hard-working. Gentle Giant was higher in price than other companies I quoted, but that was partly due to sending 3 guys instead of 2 which I think made a big positive impact. I am very happy that I selected Gentle Giant, and would recommend them highly. In fact, they're moving my sister this weekend.

I would recommend Giant Giant highly. My experience with the was company was A+. They made an appointment for almost the next business day, were skilled at moving an extremely heavy piece of furniture, (which previous movers had dropped). Wrapped upholstered furniture carefully, and were pleasant and professional. They stored the furniture and other household items in their storage facility nearby, and assured us we could have easy access to anything at any time. While this first rate service wasn't cheap, the cost was less than I expected.

Company recommended 3 movers and estimated that it would take 4.5 to 6 hours. Including travel time for truck to and from warehouse to both locations. The movers were fast and careful, taking extra time for my artwork which was really appreciated. Finished about 1/2 hour under max estimate. Estimate was very thorough and they took care of parking permits (for a fee), and charged for custom crate for TV. No issues at all and would use again, jsut wish they were a little cheaper :).

They were very professional and arrived on time. They took wonderful care of some antiques, wrapping and bubble-wrapping them. They also repaired a desk that needed some restoration. I didn't know originally, but they have a restoration department.

Noah and his crew were amazing. They were on time, very polite, and incredibly helpful. They were also so fast at moving our things that we asked them to pack some items we had not had time to pack, and they still came in under estimate. These guys were amazing! I even had one piece of very fragile antique furniture I had planned to move myself, but forgot to mention, and was worried when it disappeared onto the moving truck. It reappeared in the new place in perfect condition, safer than if I had tried to move it. They worked around all the things that needed to stay behind without a problem, and it was the least stressful move I've ever had.

The representative was prompt and friendly.

They were phenomenal. There were 4 packers. All pleasant and hard working. They got my house completely packed in 6 hours. A different crew of 4 came the next day to move me. I was disappointed not to see the same faces since the first crew had been so great but the second crew was just a great if not better. They worked hard, were extremely professional and courteous and had great senses of humor. At the end of the day, they patiently moved a heavy armoire several times while I tried out different arrangements. A few even chimed in with suggested arrangements. The team leader jokingly called it their feng shui service. They honestly seemed to care how things looked and were pleased once we got it right. They were careful to keep floors clean and came back to pick up the boxes for free. It was a bit pricey but for something as important as all of my worldly possessions, it was worth it.

Crew of 3 really big guys showed up on time. They were very professional and careful. They worked really quickly and finished faster than I had expected so it was much less expensive than the quote. I tipped them each $20 because I was so happy.

They didn't care & didn't want to help us. We had to pry information out of them. We used another company & we were very happy.

Excellent, excellent. Crane operator and movers very pleasant and accommodating, quick workers (important when paying by the hour), we were very happy.

EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. WE USED THEM TWICE IN 16 MONTHS AND WERE VERY PLEASED BOTH TIMES. THE ESTIMATES CAME IN OVER ACTUAL COST BOTH TIMES. WORKERS WERE CHEERFUL, ENERGETIC, POLITE AND HARD WORKING.

I WAS NOWHERE NEAR AS FINISHED PACKING AS I HAD PLANNED ON MOVING DAY. THEIR CREW CAME IN, GOT IT DONE AND GOT IT ALL INTO THEIR TRUCKS. THEY DID AN AMAZING JOB. THEN, THEY MET US AT THE NEW HOUSE THE NEXT MORNING AND PUT EVERYTHING RIGHT WHERE WE WANTED IT. THEY EVEN OFFERED SUGGESTIONS ON FURNITURE PLACEMENT WHEN I WASN'T SURE WHAT I WANTED DONE. WE HAD OTHER ISSUES THAT WERE TAKING OUR ATTENTION AT THAT TIME AND THEY WERE VERY PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING. THEY ALSO WERE REALLY GOOD ABOUT MY 3 1/2 YEAR OLD, WHO WAS TRYING TO BE EVERYWHERE, ASKING QUESTIONS AND GENERALLY BEING 3 1/2. I COULDN'T ASK FOR BETTER MOVERS AND WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN (IF ANYONE CAN EVER CONVINCE ME TO MOVE AGAIN). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

GENTLE GIANT IS AMAZING. THEY COMPLETED MY MOVE IN LESS TIME THAN THEIR ESTIMATE, SHOWED UP ON TIME, WERE VERY NEAT (WINTER MOVE) AND PROFESSIONAL. I WAS AMAZED THAT THE MOVERS WERE ACTUALLY RUNNING BACK TO THE HOUSE FROM THE TRUCK TO GET ADDITIONAL BOXES (A LOCAL MOVED IS CHARGED BY THE HOUR). I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW IMPRESSED I AM WITH THIS COMPANY AND WOULD USE THEM AGAIN WITHOUT QUESTION. AS A NOTE, THEIR QUOTE WAS HIGHER THAN ANOTHER BID I RECEIVED, BUT I FOUND THAT IT WAS WELL WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY FOR THIS TYPE OF PREMIUM SERVICE AND GIVEN THEIR SPEED, I AM CONVINCED THAT THEY ARE A GREAT VALUE. THEY EVEN BROUGHT TWO TRUCKS SINCE THE FOREMAN INDICATED THAT IT WOULD HELP SPEED UP THE MOVE. FANTASTIC!!!

GENTLE GIANT WAS GREAT IS SOME RESPECTS AND A DISAPPOINTMENT IN OTHERS. THEY ESTIMATED 3500 FOR THE MOVE. COMING IN UNDER BUDGET WAS GREAT. THE MOVERS WERE KIND, PROFESSIONAL, AND QUICK. IN MANY CASES, I COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW CAREFUL THEY WERE WITH MY BELONGINGS. PACKED MUCH BETTER THAN I EVER WOULD HAVE. THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME AND FINISHED EARLY. THEY EVEN LOWERED A LARGE COUCH FROM A SECOND FLOOR BALCONY. WHEN I UNPACKED, IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE BOXES WERE USED, BUT THEY CHARGED ME FOR NEW BOXES. I EXPECTED MORE HONESTY BUT THE BOX PRICE DIFFERENCE IS MODEST. I ASKED THE PHONE CONTACT FOR WAYS TO SAVE MONEY ON THE MOVE AND THEY NEVER SUGGESTED USED BOXES. ALSO, IF YOU RETURN THE BOXES, THEY WILL GIVE YOU MONEY BACK. ALL IN ALL, THE MOVE WAS VERY SMOOTH AND I WAS HAPPY TO HAVE HIRED THEM. THEY BROKE ONE BANISTER RAILING BUT I DON'T THINK IT WAS THEIR FAULT. THEY OFFERED TO FIX IT BUT I SAID I WOULD DO IT MYSELF TO SAVE TIME. THEY TOOK ABOUT $25 OFF THE BILL FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

GENTLE GIANT LIVES UP TO IT'S NAME. WE HAD AS STRESS FREE A MOVE AS ONE COULD HOPE FOR. BEFORE THE MOVE THEY WERE ABLE TO GIVE US AN ESTIMATE OF THE TIME, HOW MANY TRUCKS, HOW MANY MEN ETC. IT WOULD TAKE TO MOVE US. WE MOVED FROM A LARGE 10 ROOM VICTORIAN TO A SMALLER 9 ROOM COLONIAL. THEIR ESTIMATE WAS RIGHT ON TARGET. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD NEED 2 TRUCKS, 5 MEN. 4 MEN SHOWED UP. THEY APOLOGIZED AS ONE MAN CALLED IN SICK. WITHIN 2-3 HOURS OF STARTING 2 MORE MEN SHOWED UP TO FINISH THE JOB. EXCELLENT MOVERS. NOT A SCRATCH ON ANYTHING. THEY HUSTLED LIKE CRAZY. EVEN THOUGH THEIR HOURLY RATE MAY BE HIGHER THAN OTHERS, THEY NEVER RESTED. RAN IN/OUT OF TRUCKS. CAN'T SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THEM. ALL WERE PLEASANT, FRIENDLY, HAPPY AND EASY TO WORK WITH. GREAT CREW. BOX SERVICE IS GREAT TOO. DELIVERED ''LARGE HOUSE PACK'' AHEAD OF TIME CONTAINING ALL THE DIFFERENT TYPE BOXES AND SUPPLIES YOU NEED.

THEY DID A GREAT JOB. ALL OF THE MOVERS WERE VERY COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY. THEY BROKE A MIRROR AND TOLD US ABOUT IT IMMEDIATELY. THEY TOOK IT WITH THEM AND REPAIRED IT PERFECTLY AND RETURNED IT TO US WITHIN A WEEK. ACCIDENTS HAPPEN & THEY HANDLED IT VERY PROFESSIONALLY. EVERYTHING WAS WRAPPED AND BOXED VERY WELL. THEY WERE VERY PATIENT WITH MOVING FURNITURE AROUND THE NEW HOUSE. THEY MOVED IN A VERY OVERSIZED PIECE OF FURNITURE WITH NO PROBLEM.
