Gentle Giant Moving & Storage Somerville

They were awesome! They were worth the money. We had a small issue, but it was resolved extremely well! The staff gets an A!

Gentle Giant came on time, didn't make a scratch and worked their butts off in 95 degree heat moving us from a two bedroom condominium into a new five bedroom condominium. They were able to get large furniture up tight stairs and through large doorways and were helpful and cheerful the entire time. Our team leader, Ted, was particularly good. I know they are a little more expensive than others, but it was well worth it!

I did not book with them due to their lack of responsiveness and accessibility.

They were good and they showed up on time. They didn't break anything (they really were gentle) and their price was the same as their estimate.

Very careful and as always courteous, even though it was an oppressively hot day.

She was horrified that they would be expected to read any labels or look at diagrams, and she suggested; on top of their estimate which was 50% higher than the others that I hire someone for $65/hr. to be my helper. She spent an hour trying to lower my expectations about what they could do and got really defensive when I told her I was going with another company that offered to do all that I asked of her and more and for 50% less. She wanted a line-by-line reading of her competitor's estimate and then tried to frighten me that they wouldn't stick to it (even though they'd put in a "not to exceed" quote). I was TOTALLY unimpressed by this woman and the service as she represented it. I used Benezra Boxes for packing and unpacking (THEY WERE AWESOME!!!) and Smooth Mooves for the moving part, and the total expense for packing, moving, unpacking (including late night hours) came to about $2500, much less than the GG estimate which offered many less services!

They did a great job and I would definitely use them again.

Two movers came and quickly and efficiently moved all our appliances into our kitchen. They were courteous and professional. We unfortunately had one problem with a refrigerator door that was dented in the process. Gentle Giant was quick to resolve the problem via email and professional phone calls. They set up an appointment for an appliance company to come out almost immediately to replace the door panel. A great experience overall.

The packing was excellent and done with care. They marked all the boxes and referenced them in an inventory, which makes it easier to find things my daughter needs in the storage unit. The movers were friendly, helpful, and very efficient. I met them at the storage warehouse in Cambridge and they helped me to choose the appropriate size storage unit and explained where things were going as they moved them in. They even took great care to arrange the furniture and boxes in the tightly-packed storage unit so that by moving a few items, most things are accessible.

The movers (3 men & a small truck) arrived pretty much on time (between 7:30 & 8 AM). I had moved most of the small items the day before, so it was down to furniture & some of the heavier boxes (books, etc.). The movers literally wrapped every piece of furniture in their quilt like covers (I had forgotten that they did this. This is sort of time consuming and probably not necessary for all of my items. But it shows they are careful with everything they move). The truck was loaded around 10:30 AM. I then needed to attend the condo sale closing, so the movers took their lunch break. After the sale closing, I headed over to the new condo & the movers arrived a few minutes after I did. I showed them around the new unit & where things should go. After that, I really didn't have to do much but watch. I needed to attend the condo purchase closing at 1PM. The movers were not quite finished, but I was able to turn them over to my Realtor. The movers were flexible on this.

Overall, the guys were awesome! They had such a knowledgeable staff of guys including a foreman who answered all my questions. He also checked in numerous times during the move to make sure it was going smoothly. These guys moved large heavy pieces through very tight spots with no damage at all. The crew was timely, courteous and knowledgeable. I can't say enough about how they made moving a non-stressful experience. The slightly higher costs than their competitors is because you get what you pay for with these guys.

Crew showed up on time, extremely cordial and friendly. Didn't rush through the job but were efficient and moved quickly from room to room carefully wrapping all the furniture in protective padding and loading on to the truck. Not the cheapest out there but well worth the money.

The move went very well. Two men showed up on time; they were careful with my furniture and the work took less than an hour.

Gentle Giant was very good--much better than our experience with another moving company, for example. Their crews (we had 2 different crews) were professional, helpful, and polite. They got us packed on time and delivered on time. They didn't pack the trash, either! We had prepared notes on what to pack and not to pack, since we needed to sleep in our apt the night before the load-in, and they were understanding of that and didn't mind packing up the things we needed the night before. When they moved us into our new house, they even put the mattress cover on the king-size bed, saying ''we'll do this--it takes a lot of power to get this on a king-size mattress.'' It was sweet. We were very pleased with the overall service. Their rep and I had many calls leading up to the move, and he was always accessible, or would return my call promptly.

I cannot speak highly enough about my experience with Gentle Giant. My team of 3 movers were efficient, polite and very careful with our belongings. They even moved the couch out through the front window with ease.

Two men showed up at the scheduled time. They knew exactly what they were dealing with and made what I thought was a complicated job look very easy. They lifted all the pieces so there were no slide marks on the newly installed wood floor. They made sure that each and every piece was exactly where I wanted it. These two young men were strong, careful, pleasant, and very smart.

I had used GG before and again, I was delighted with the move. Nothing was broken and the movers were pleasant and hardworking. The move came in quite a bit over the estimate, not because of the time or labor, but because of the packing supplies. My breakables were packed with so much paper that it took me days to get rid of it. After I had completely unpacked, I wrote to the company about the situation and received a call the next day from the president who spent a long time talking with me about the situation. He refunded $100 which I thought was very fair, and it was clear that he cared a great deal about his company's reputation and the follow-up to the move. Although GG does charge more than many other companies, you get the best. I have recommended them to my friends and I would definitely use them again.

Emailed GG to set up appt. for move. A return call was made later that same day. I had a list of the items for 10-day storage and arranged the move date for a couple days later. I was pleased to learn no storage fee was charged as the first month was free. The 3 movers arrived in the afternoon and were finished within 2 hours wrapping and moving 19 items from the first floor of the home with precision and care; the only exception was the stackable washer/dryer that was taken apart and proved a bit tricky to reinstall. I was given a copy of the inventory of items and signed off on the bill which included travel time to the warehouse. After the floor was done, I called to schedule the return of the items 5 days later. I asked for a morning delivery but was not informed of a four hour minimum charge. The appointment was set and the movers arrived promptly at 9am. The furniture was carefully returned to the home with another crew of 3 who were equally professional offering hints to protect

Very well, company did exactly what they said they would do and performed very well.

I WENT WITH THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY HAD A GRETA REPUTATION. IT TURNED OUT TO BE TOTALLY UNEARNED. THEY DIDN'T ARRIVE WHEN SCHEDULED AND WERE NOT GENTILE WITH MY BELONGINGS. THEY WERE MUCH TOO EXPENSIVE FOR THE QUALITY OF SERVICE.

They blanket-wrapped all the furniture, so that nothing was exposed to be damaged during the move. The crew was polite, unlike other moving companies I've used where they turn on loud music, ignore you, and ignore instructions (like going into rooms where you have closed your pets in to keep them from getting out). They also offered a free, hands-on seminar in how to pack your belongings. I do wish they offered an in-home estimate, rather than just a phone estimate. I ended up needing many more boxes than they estimated. However, the move took less time and cost less than the original estimate. They cost more than other moving companies, but they're the best. This is the 2nd time I've used them and I wouldn't use anyone else.

They were great. The movers were professional and genuinely nice to work with and be around. They were very fast but careful. However, in big moves like ours, small problems aren't unexpected. The first time they moved us they slightly scuffed one wall and were back to fix it perfectly within a week. The second time they broke our treadmill and regularly contacted me to remind me to get reimbursed for fixing it until I did. They paid the bill without any questions asked. I would recommend them to anyone.

Gentle Giant's guys did a great job. They came prepared, checked in on specifics, were careful and moved very fast. They accomplished the job in a little less time than they estimated. They even hoisted heavy boxes of books up a ladder into the attic. They were careful to place the boxes and furniture in the rooms requested. We were impressed with their work and would hire them again if we are crazy enough to move again.

After hearing many good things about Gentle Giant, I emailed them with my need to move several pieces of antique furniture from North Carolina to Massachusetts. Ms. Tutu then emailed me the forms that needed to be filled out, and we submitted them. It was a very simple, quick process. A few days later we had to change the point of origin of the furniture, and they had no problem making the change. At all times they were very helpful and were clearly working hard to make the process as clear and easy as possible. The men who picked up the furniture were very friendly and professional. The same three movers arrived at our house in Massachusetts, and were again very professional, friendly, and efficient at getting the furniture into our house safely. We have been very happy with our choice of movers and will certainly hire them again.

Great experience. Box delivery service their boxes were competitively priced (even to a place like Staples), they delivered them to my door, and the deliverer even offered to carry them up three flights for me. (I was very pregnant.) Moving team was very efficient--literally running from my condo to truck and back. Also very helpful, e.g. offering to help me get my personal items into my car so I could deal with my toddler. The team leader was great, funny, experienced, and offering good advice. At our new home, he made suggestions about where to place different furniture items that helped me see how to set up rooms. He also suggested I try several different places to see what I liked best, even with large items (queen bed). And when the team stopped for lunch, he asked if I wanted him to pick up something for me! All this while finishing the job in under estimated time. When you call for estimate they say they wont be least expensive, and arent, but I think worth the price.
