Gentle Giant Moving & Storage Somerville

I was impressed with how they managed moving a big couch that had to be taken out the window as the stairway was too narrow and they did not make a big issue about it. They are a really excited group and happy about getting the work and it is a nice experience to have people who are happy doing the work and doing a great job.

They did a nice job. There was one thing that was little imperfect about them. The packing in New York was jumbled which made it a little difficult to sort things out. Other than that we had a very nice move. The people were courteous and prompt. They took pretty good care of our stuff. They did what they said they were going to do.

It didn't, for reasons given above.

It was a big job. It took them the better part of the day. It was about eight hours or so. They did not damage anything. These guys were really superb. We filled out one of their cards giving them straight A's because they were so good.

When they came out to consult us they did a great job. They were good about obtaining the parking permits that we needed. They are a customer oriented company. They are very efficient. They came on time. The job was done quickly. They are very accommodating and helpful.

I did the packing of the small stuffs and they took care of the big ones. They rapped the stuff and moved it to Somerville. They unpacked it and put it in a storage unit. There was no damage done to the items. They were very punctual and professional. They were slightly expensive.

They gave me a quote for $7,600 which was 4 times higher then any other companies that I had contacted. I was very suspicous of why they would give me such a high quote. They were very rude when I spoke with the representative there. I found it was a very bad experience.

Gentle Giant was great and very content with helping us out. They sent out a team to help us move quickly and efficiently. Their attitude and preparation was great. They were able to help us move twice. Our condo had flooded and they moved us temporarily and then they moved us again when we moved to Australia. If we need to relocate again, we will definitely use them.

We had all of our things in a storage facility and Gentle Giant moved us from there to our new home. The workers were very good. They were very careful with our furniture. They even made stops in multiple places besides the storage facility to pick up other things for us. They were well rounded, nice people who were focused on helping us.

There was one little speed bump in the move. One of the movers unintentionally broke a leg to the head board for the master bedroom. He gave me two options: to go through proper channels for repair and reimbursement or allow him to fix it right now. I chose the latter, because I didn't want to hinder this move and besides I bought a new bedroom set anyway. That being said his work was solid it surpassed the original strength of head board without any noticeable damage, marks, or changes. Overall I would say these movers are the best!! They may be a little more expensive than other movers, but are well worth it!! I almost went a moving company for 1/2 the cost of this one, but I strongly prefer quality over quantity especially if you have very expensive and nice furniture.

Great! The crew arrived right on time in the morning and worked quickly and carefully. After a brief break for lunch, they unloaded and made sure I was satisfied with everything before leaving. They had to negotiate unloading around 4 ft. mounds of snow at my new address and the driver positioned the truck so that the ramps went over the snow and directly onto the sidewalk, making it easier for the crew to unload.

The overall experience this time around was lousy - here is why: Lesson #1: Do not let them move your car. My car was damaged during the loading process, which was inadequate and will add a lot of wear and tear to a car, especially if you have a standard. Because the initial attempt to load my car failed, I got to get back in my car, which is when I could smell that the life of my clutch had just been shortened by a few years. Unless you get back into your car and observe the loading process you may have no idea that there might be damage and/or significant wear and tear. Dealing with their insurance company has been difficult as well. They missed the appointment to look at the car when it was on a lift at the dealership, so a month later they still have not fully assessed the damage. What I am aware of by now are the rates they pay for repairs. If you have a higher-value vehicle you are screwed, because those rates will not cover what you have to pay to get your car repaired. Gentle Giant knew that this was the one thing they were not to get wrong during this move. Once the car was in Massachusetts they refused to deliver the car until I threatened to get a lawyer involved. Do yourself a favor and hire a company that knows how to load and transfer a car! Lesson #2: Quality Assurance Department is unresponsive. Stuff happens, especially during a cross-country move, but this time around their so called Quality Assurance department has been mostly unresponsive when it comes to resolving damage to furniture. A fairly new and pretty expensive piece of furniture was severely damaged. One full month after I moved in, Gentle Giant still has the broken furniture, a copy of the sales receipt, but they have yet to respond to requests to resolve this issue despite several requests to do so. Gentle Giant has not lived up to expectations this time around. In fact it s been like dealing with any other average moving company. For this level of aggravation, I could have saved a lot of money and picked somebody else, which is what I ll do the next time around. My sense is that they have gotten so busy that they can't maintain the level of service they used to provide, so beware. Update Feb 4, 2009: Around the time I posted the above "my case" must have made it to the highest ranks at GG as a member of the management team came to my house with a gift basket and a very sincere apology for all the things that had gone wrong. We have resolved the issues that had come up, and while it wasn't a stellar experience this time around, GG ultimately made every effort to make up for what had happened. I've therefore changed the rating from F star to C and would consider having them move my household again.

They were right on time at the new address and helped to place the large furniture where we wanted it placed. They even offered to set up the bed. There was no broken or damaged items.

Excellent handling, nothing broken or damaged. Workers were courteous and hard working. The only downside is the expense, but clearly you get what you pay for and GG made this a virtually stress free move. If you can afford them I highly recommend them!

Unfortunately the timing was tough. The move was planned weeks before and on move day we got hit with a big snow storm. The team of two giants showed up on time and with smiles on their faces. They were incredible. Polite, nice, respectful of us and our belongings. I've never seen movers be so careful with walls, corners, etc. I saw them actually run off the truck to come back upstairs and get more boxes. They did not waste time and I feel very confident that they worked as quickly and as carefully as humanly possible.

The quote process was good. They sent a guy out who spent a good amount of time with us asking us the right questions. They were very professional. Their price was pretty average, maybe a little high compared to competitors. They offer to unpack for you as well.

They were fantastic. They showed up on time, handled everything with care, they were friendly, polite, helpful, and I have no complaints whatsoever.

They were worth every penny, and truly were gentle giants. They didn't break a thing and was just a truly awesome company to work with. If I every move again this is the company I would use.

They were very professional. They were prompt and courteous. They really hustled. They were very careful and they listened to instructions. I was very very happy with them.

They were great! They made a stop for me in Wellesley and moved the furniture that was in the living room to the basement. They arranged the furniture in the living room, plugged in lights, took all of the boxes and papers with them. At the final destination they never complained about the hallways and stairs and moving furniture from the main house to the carriage house.

They have a great team from sales, the person who came out and quoted, the move coordinator, and the moving team. They are punctual, professional, courteous. I just can't say enough how great they were. Moving house is very difficult, emotionally, physically, and financially. Gentle Giant was the bright spot in our entire move. The moving team couldn't have been more helpful!

Everyone was amazing, especially the team leader on the move. They were professional, polite and cheerful. They really helped take the stress out of a stressful situation. Communication was great through the whole process. It was worth every penny for the peace of mind.

Very well - very professional evaluation over the phone. They asked exactly what I had and figured out the perfect trunk. Everything went really smoothly.

Gentle Giant was very responsive they, scheduled the work the next day after I called them during the very late afternoon. The refrigerator was hoisted onto our 2nd floor porch still in the box, on the porch it was uncrated and the front doors were removed. The refrigerator was then moved inside via the porch door and then passed very tightly through a bedroom door, into a hall way and then through the kitchen door where it was reassembled. Rudy and his crew of two were very efficient, hard working and professional and I would hire them again.
