They were amazing, and more importanty were instrumental in helping me secure a "rehabilitation mortgage loan". If nobody reading this has experienced purching a rehab loan before, let me describe it in a few sentences: It's a complete nightmare for the average homebuyer. The bank demands certain repairs to be made to complete the mortgage, and many of these requirements dictate contractors to provide bids that must be guaranteed to not change. Additionaly, the contractors are subjected to background checks on their credit, better business bureau, insurance history, etc. John met all the rigourous demands of the banks, and better yet, he did it quickly and efficiently. As far as the actual job went, John and Todd deserve an A+. Their bid was fair compared to 3 other local plumbers; in fact it was the 2nd lowest while also being the most detailed. They began work promptly when I needed them to begin. They arrived everyday as scheduled, and were on time everytime (about 7 days of work) and ALWAY pleasant to talk to. Their work was very neat and conscientous; they labelled every heating pipe as to which zone it supplied and gave a detailed explanation as to how they work and what to do if a problem arises. In addition to their neat workmanship, him and his partner cleaned EVERY mess they made and were careful not to stain any existing carpets on their ways inand out. They also hauled out and disposed of the old boiler and THREE old water heaters without any cost; a scrap guy picked them up. John and Todd also both have a personal background with the towns inspectors of Tyngsborough (plumbing, building and fire dept). When the inspectors came they were impressed (yet not surprised) by the level of craftsmanship and each dept quickly signed off on the permit without ANY reinspections. But the best point of all: the project cost STAYED EXACTLY ON BUDGET! John and Todd of E.J. Plumbing have certainly earned a customer for life. -Brandon
Description of Work: John (business owner / master plumber) and Todd (experienced plumber]) were instrumental to allowing me to purchase a home and secure a special "rehabilitation loan" aka "203K Home Loan". I was referred to them by a friend and ultimately contacted them for a bid. John responded promptly, visiting me within a few days at my convenience. We created a plan to install a new boiler & oil tank, as well as replaced all the associated valves with the system. Additionaly they fixed all the "splits" to my heating pipes and domestic water lines, installed a hardwired smoke/CO detector, installed a new water heater & new toilet. Finally they moved the furnace emergency switch to a new location (as dictated by building code).

I was referred to EJ plumbing by a friend who uses them in his rental properties. John came to look at my hot water heater which wasn't working. I decided to replace it and he gave me a quote on a Navien NR-240 tankless - about $2600 installed. I asked my friend and he thought that was high, and he felt that they would come down some. I found the same unit on Amazon for $1450 with free shipping, so I tended to agree. It seemed they were taking a huge markup on the unit and/or charging a lot for labor. I called John back and diplomatically pointed out that I felt the quote was high, given what I'd seen. I said I knew he had to make money, but it seemed excessive given the price I'd seen for the unit. He said, "That's the cost. That's what I charge. That's what I have to get." I asked him how much he'd charge to put it in if I bought the unit myself. He said, "You're going to need to find someone else, because this isn't going to work." And he hung up on me. Extremely rude and unprofessional. To get offended because a customer is checking around to make sure they are getting a reasonable quote is way out of line. And if you don't want to do work for someone, there are adult and professional ways of communicating that. This isn't one of them. Zero stars for EJ Plumbing, and I would not do business with them. John actually did me a favor by letting me know right from the start how unprofessional he is. Craig Moberg

John is did everything very well from beginning to end. I was very impressed. He was punctual on all visits. He gave very detailed estimates of the work. He carefully explained everything he would do. He left a detailed written estimate on his first visit. (Others gave verbal estimates with nothing in writing.) After getting all estimates, a couple months later we called John back. He gave us a time only a couple weeks later. He showed up, planned out his work, and explained what he would do so we could He pleasantly put up with me (an engineer) putting in my 2 cents on the plumbing design :-). He accommodated changes after the start w/o additional charges. We decided to tile the shower ourselves instead of a wall panel unit he originally quoted. We changed to a double vanity instead of single. He made do having to plumb the sinks in a split 2x3 insulated soundproof wall w/o a complaint. He was fast, and efficient. I was amazed how quickly he had the rough plumbing all done. He cleaned up after himself never leaving a mess. He showed up for the inspections and passed with flying colors (no changes needed). After the rough in, it took us months to finish up and call him back to attach the fixtures. He did not complain but rather as soon as we called, he showed up on relatively short notice and finished the job equally as equally quickly and efficiently. I did have to make a very minor adjustment to the sink drain lever so the knob would lower all the way (cosmetic fix). A small missed detail and not a big deal. John was the highest price of the bids we got. But he impressed us so we went with him and am glad we did. We will call definitely John back for our next project!
Description of Work: We were installing a 3/4 bath in the second floor. It was ~12ft x 5ft with a double vanity, toilet and 42"x48" alcove shower. There was a closet there to start, plus cutting into a bedroom so no plumbing on the 2nd floor. Had to run new plumbing/electric to/from the basement. We are DIYers and did all the demolition, framing, walls, flooring, tiling, finishing, etc ourselves (all but plumbing/electrical). We needed a plumber to tap and run new supplies up from the basement and run all waste pipes into the existing waste stack, as well as plumb in and attach the toilet, sinks/faucets, dual shower and prefab shower base. We got three estimates for the work. The project dragged out over many, many months due to our own personal schedules slowing down the work. It ended up also involving cleaning up existing plumbing. The previous owners had done some shoddy work. The downstairs toilet was not vented or sloped properly. We also ended up tearing out all the existing main cast iron waste pipe, lowering it down and replacing with PVC which made it cleaner (and easier to fix the toilet drain/vent and tap in the new pipes). We also ended up ordering all the shower/faucet fixtures through the plumber's supplier which he handled.

John was very responsive upon receiving my initial contact. He called me the same day and we set an initial consultation appointment for that very same week. I will complement John on his professionalism as he kept to his appointments and arrived on time to either meet with me or complete the work that was planned.
Description of Work: My initial call to John at EJ Plumbing and Heating was for a faulty water heater. I fully expected to have to replace the unit as it is about 7 years old. John correctly diagnosed the problem and it ultimately only replaced the heating elements and thermostats as the tank itself was still in good condition. He was very fair in his labor rate and parts cost and as a result he has been hired for two additional jobs at our home. He also took the time to review options for when it is time to replace the tank and without hesitation I would hire him to do that work when the time comes.

First of all he called me back right away. He came out to the house and looked at my old pump and filter system. He provided sound advice and gave me an estimate. This all took place one day after I called. After his visit/inspection on tuesday he came back today (thursday) and did a really good job. The installation was nice and neat. The new pump is so much better then what I had. He really upgraded my system. He is very clean and offers his service for a fair price. I got a better pump and an upgrade on my filter for less then what I had previously paid for my old system. Overall he was great to work with in everyway.
Description of Work: I needed a new water pump, and a new filter system that needed to be paired with my old system.

I called at 10:30 AM and John and his co worker arrived at 12:30., two hours later. John acquired the necessary replacemnt parts and completed the job in three hours. He will return next week to install the basboard after I have cleaned and prepared the wall ( he works well wtih the homeowner.) John listens to my request, offers suggestions and explains everything very clearly. I feel confident that I have selected the very best. John returned the following week as promised and installed the heating element, installed shower faucet and snaked a drain. What a relief to know that I can just pick up the phone and know that there is an honest and reliable plumber out there.!

You should be using EJ plumbing. We had them come out to install a new dishwasher and a reverse osmosis under sink filter. Finished both in under two hours and was very professional about the arrival, install, and clean-up. I had gone through 2 or 3 other plumbers trying to get the filter installed - most flatly refused to do it for some reason. EJ did it very well with no complaint. They charged a reasonable rate by the hour which is *fabulous* in my opinion. I am sure some of you are familiar with the "book list" plumbers who have a sketchy book with a listing of per job rate for standard jobs (usually extremely over priced). For example, the guys who installed my dishwasher before this wanted $800 for the install (less than an hour). EJ did the job better, quicker, and for far less. I will definitely be using them for all my plumbing jobs going forward. You should too.

I ONLY use John Fagundes at EJ Plumbing for all my plumbing/AC needs. He installed 2 frost-proof spigots for me and diagnosed that my attic AC unit only needed a new filter (pressures were fine). He then went to local Home Depot to buy me 2 filters (as I am non-ambulatory). He even moved my car for me while here. NOBODY is better or more helpful than John!
Description of Work: Needed 2 outside spigots installed and my home (attic) AC checked (not cooling well).

I've had John do other jobs at my house before, so when I was building my new addition I went to him to do the plumbing. He met with me the week before he could start and outlined what we would be doing. My wife and I chose tub and toilet styles from a catalog that he brought. John and his team showed up on time and finished when they said they would, which I'm finding out is a rarity in the construction business. He also stuck to budget. He installed the bathroom and all plumbing, attaching to our existing plumbing. He also ran pipes to attach heating to our forced hot water system. Everything looks good and passed the building inspection. We still need the finish work to be done at this point, but based on how things have gone so far, I'm sure it will be fine. I'll update this review once that is complete.

On Sunday, when I tried to disconnect the lever to the stopper from the pipe connecting the bathroom sink basin to the P trap, the pipe was so corroded the lever broke off, leaving a hole in the pipe I was also unable to fix the assembly on another sink. I called at 9am Monday morning and John said he'd be able to be by that day between 1 and 2. Since I work close by, I asked that he call 10 minutes before he was due to arrive. He called around 2:30 apologizing for running late. Since I didn't have to wait at home, the short delay didn't bother me, especially since he was able to come that day. He and Todd, his co-worker replaced the pipe and lever on the sink with the corroded pipe and after looking at the other sink recommended replacing the pipe on the other, which I agreed to. He also snaked a bathtub drain. They worked quickly, were polite, used quality parts and cleaned up the work site. John warned me that the bathtub valve and drain will need to replaced but I didn't feel pressured to schedule the job. I also like the 90 day warranty but I don't anticipate I will need to call them back because of problems with this job.

This company really knew what they were doing. We had had another plumber come in and do a shoddy job about a year earlier. We continued to have problems. These guys came in and re-did all the work and it's been perfect ever since. Cost a bit more than expected, but you could tell they were all about quality and top notch workmanship.

I called several plumbers, asking for an estimate for replacing our tub and the tub surround. John was one of two people that got back to me (very promptly) and actually came to look things over and give me a written estimate (one company just gave me a quote over the phone!). John took the time to go over my options and he showed me pictures of tubs and surrounds I could choose from, along with his personal recommendations. He also told me of a showroom that I could visit locally, to see in person what I would be choosing, which made the process much easier. Based on his knowledge of what would be required and the price he gave me, I decided to go with his company. We agreed on a date for the installation (I believe it was 2 weeks after I called to agree to the estimate). John showed up, on time, with one other worker and they immediately began to lay out tarps to protect my floors and carpet. He kept me informed of their progress and was actually finished by lunch time. When they left, the area was swept free of debris and I had a beautiful new tub (with new fixtures) and surround. John, at my request, even took a look at an upstairs drain that was running slowly and snaked it out, free of charge. I would definitely recommend this company. They are easy to get hold of, they show up when they say they will and their work is excellent. I would absolutely use their services in the future, if needed.
Description of Work: Old tub and surround removed, along with underlying wallboard (old surround was glued to wallboard - new surround (and tub) is screwed to studs). New tub, new fixtures, and surround installed. Disposal of old tub, surround and old wallboard. 1 year warranty on both labor and materials.

EJ came out to do the estimate. The job is very small, and somewhat of a test. I'm looking for a plumber later come out and do a boiler install as well as some other replumbing of my bathrooms. EJ took notes, and then later emailed that he is too busy, and not willing to do the job. Too busy? Why show up to d the estimate? Seems he is not willing to do smaller jobs, or jobs where he is required to do detailed descriptions and justification of work.

This was an awesome performance start to finish. I was having a pressure/bleed off problem with my water heater that I had been dragging my feet on. Then, the handle on one of my showers broke, and since there was a minor drip from the faucet I decided that while I was replacing the handle, I might as well replace the washers as well. In the process, I fractured a solder joint in the faucet in the wall. Game over ! I put away the tools and logged on to Angie's List as I should have in tthe first place and selected EJ Plumbing from the many sterling reviews. John showed up right on time, quickly addressed the issues and issued me a quote. He immediately replaced the faucet assembly which required cutting a hole in the wall of an adjacent closet, and he correctly diagnosed the pressure relief tank as the culprit with my water heater and fixed that on the spot as well. All of this was done in 2 hours, and at the cost estimated. Having learned my lesson on procrastination and do it yourself repairs, I asked John about the condition of the water heater which was about 14 years old and decided to have him back the following week to replace it. I also had him replace my 2 outdoor faucets which required cutting the pipes in the basement and installing the new valves. Once again John showed up right on time and completed all of the work in 2 hours and at the estimated cost. He also detected a faulty seal in my drain pipe in the basement and resealed at at no charge. John and his assistant were extremely professional, courteous and fast. I was blown away at how quickly they got everything done. I still cannot belive that all this took just 4 hours. John also applied the Angie's List discount without me requesting it. If you need a plumber, start here. You will receive quality work and peace of mind that you have received exactly what you need.

We're renovating a spare bathroom and have just completely gutted down to studs. I contacted EJ Plumbing off Angie's list and received my first email from John in less than a couple hours. John was able to call me back and quote me an hourly rate plus schedule a convenient time to come out.. and thankfully quickly! He was there when he said he'd be, professionally walked through everything with us and firmed up that it would take just 2 hours. he offered to put in the piping necessary for a future fridge that has water.. at no additional cost, which was fantastic. and gave us recommendations on how we could leave the toilet flange top loose until we completed the floor and then walked us through how to glue it on afterward, that way it would for sure be level with the new floor. After he finalized the quote for $300 job, we agreed we still wanted him to do the work and he brought his partner in from the car and they finished the job in exactly the time frame estimated. as my husband said, they were in and out - no fuss. we were quoted $675 by another plumber more local to us, and $690 to come back and install sink and toilet. EJ Plumbing was $300 minus $25 for 1st-time customer/Angie's list discount and about $300 to come back for the sink/toilet install. Would DEF recommend to anyone looking for a professional, efficient and well priced plumber! The only reason I gave a B on quality is because they just came yesterday and while we don't see anything wrong, we also haven't used it yet either. We're optimistic that we'll be realizing A quality work once finished the reno!

I contacted John based on his reputation on Angie's list. He was very professional via email and phone. He came out to our house to give an estimate on several jobs that we needed done. He could provide all the equipment needed except for the UV filter, which was something I had selected online and planned to order myself. I ran into trouble with the shipper of the UV filter, and John was able to wait for the part to come in. John arrived at the scheduled time to do the install. Everything went well and looks clean and professional. Very happy with the service. The price was fair, and he gave me a 10% discount for contacting him from Angie's List. I would definitely use his services again.

From beginning to end this person knows his business and does his best for his customers.
Description of Work: John was great he gave me an estamite over the phone to disconnect my old sink and then came afterwards to connect the new sink. We made a call and he called back in minutes to talk to us. He is like no other plumber around becasue he is great both in price and work ethics. After he installed our new sink he then traveled from Pepperrell to Salisbury Beach and installed a water heater for us and did another great job specially cleaning up after himself. We had to call him back for a third time to do another job for us and he again did a great job. If you are looking for a person that is friendly, clean, and trustworthy and knows what he is doing this is the guy for you.

I emailed John and heard back from him within half an hour. Within two hours, he had quoted me the job. When I accepted the quote, he set up a time to install a SuperStor tank and third zone off of my boiler to heat the water. He arrived on schedule and finished his work in 3 hours. He checked to make sure everything was working before he left. He did an excellent job... very neat and very efficient. John is the go-to guy for your plumbing needs.
Description of Work: John added an indirect water heater to my boiler.

Called John and received a quick call back. We agreed to meet for an estimate on Friday 9/23. John was running several hours early ahead of our scheduled time and called to ask if it would be OK to come now. I agreed. He arrived about 90 seconds later and we went over the proposed work. I agreed to the estimate and John indicated that he could do the job as early as Monday morning. We set the time for 10 AM. On Monday 9/26, John was at my house before I was (moving in to a new house), and I was running a few minutes early. John and his assistant went right to work and completed the job in 3 hours. The estimate was right on track. Kudos to John and his assistant for their puntuality, professionalism, friendliness and quality work. I would not hesitate to recommend John's services to anyone in the future.
