Junk King Middlesex

It was amazingly simple to remove items I had thought would be difficult to get rid of. My house wouldn't have had nearly as much clutter if I had known about Junk King sooner.

I submitted a question to Junk King from their website - which I LOVE because I didn't have to provide them with a whole bunch of information, just the question and my email. It was a weekend and I didn't think I'd get an answer if I called. The question was "Do remove chain link and wood fences?" I was asking this because after calling another place, the removal of chain link fences which are usually cemented into the ground, is more work and apparently not everyone in the hauling category wants to do this. Scott, the owner of Junk King, replied within a couple of hours (on a Sunday) and told me they did. I requested an estimate. They came out 2 days later and looked over the fences, we went over what may be the problems/pitfalls, particularly how they wouldn't know how the chain link poles were set, etc. until they started cutting/pulling them out. They provided me an estimate of $988 - which covered hauling fee (based on amount) of $268 and 8 hrs labor to remove the fences at $720. Scott also contacted me afterward to warn me that though they would remove the fences, they wouldn't be filling the holes left by the fence posts and that could be a tripping hazard. (This is when it comes down to whether I should have hired a landscaper instead - but decided I could fill in the holes myself.) Contacted Scott later that day to schedule; he was able to have the crew back out by Thursday. They arrived on time, started the work and moved along quite quickly. They had all the necessary tools and were careful in working with the electrical wiring that was attached or near some of the wooden fence (previous owners installed plugs near the patio adjacent to the fence; one pipe containing the wiring was attached to a fence post which they left as requested). I was home for the first hour and with 4 men they had already removed the wooden fence and started on the chain link. Apparently the chain link fence poles were not set in thick heavy cement and therefore came out relatively easy. I went out for 2 hrs, came back and they were done. So happily paid only 3 hrs of labor. Scott was there when I returned and introduced himself and asked me to look over the finished job with him. As we walked around he noticed a few bits of metal chain link and the top piece of one of the chain link fence posts in one of the holes which he picked up and removed. I'll admit, I should have checked more thoroughly with him while he was there but the day after I did find some large chunks of cement and a partial cut up section of a chain link pole still on the ground behind the garage. Not so large that I can't throw it into my regular trash but that's why I listed "quality" as a B. Having his own workers do a more thorough check before leaving would have remedied the problem. I want to stress though that other than that, they 1) replied to my inquiries quickly, 2) arrived on time, 3) have a policy of calling 20 mins before arrival which they did, 4) were polite, nice, thoughtful and professional, 5) easy to schedule, and 6) came in under the price quoted and I think a price that is more than fair (4 guys for $90/hr). Also, they were not only nice to me but also my neighbor on the other side of the fence. I had notified him of what was going on beforehand and he came out to watch and check on progress and ask them questions, etc. I dislike when people that are working for you are only nice to you because you're the one paying them, so I'm happy that they were also polite to him. If I had another such job or had a more straightforward junk hauling needs, I would call Junk King again.

Great service. We needed a bunch of old stuff removed from our apartment after moving into a new house. We had approximately 20 contractor bags plus various other items that we didn't want to take with us. This would have been too much to throw out in the regular garbage pick-up so we decided to find a company that could take it away for us. Junk King was offering a "Big Deal" and were highly rated so we decided to try them. We bought the big deal for $128 which would get us 1/6 of a truck. We ended up having about 1/4 of a truck. They were able to get everything out of the house quickly and efficiently. I accidentally wrote the wrong amount on my slip (I would have paid $60 too much). The guys that came didn't realize it, but a few days later I got a call from the owner. He explained that the slip had a higher amount than we owed and he was only going to charge us $40 for the extra space we needed on top of the original "Big Deal." He could have taken advantage of us and I would have never realized it, but instead he made it a point to check with us before he ran my credit card. Very good business. Would highly recommend them to others.

Overall, I was very happy with the service provided. There was a miscue on the first scheduled pickup; not nearly enough space in the truck. An inconvenience since I stayed home from work to meet them. However, they were very professional in dealing with the situation and gave me full pick of times for the second try. The guys worked very hard to move the junk out of the 3rd floor and were very considerate. Not a mark on the house anywhere and they cleaned up the floor on their way out.

It was easy to talk to them on the phone. They arrived when they said they would. They did what I asked and even swept the relevant floors which I wasn't expecting. The $160 price was based on a Big Deal discount off their regular price. Note that their normal pricing was half as much as the other estimate I had gotten!

Our experience with Junk King was great. Scott was immediately responsive after I bought the deal. He suggested a date when they would be in the area and that date was fine with us. They gave me a 2 hour window in which they expected to arrive that day. Scott and Lonnie arrived very promptly at the beginning of that window. I showed them what I wanted to go and what I wanted to stay. They sized it all up and got to work. They removed everything and loaded it all in their truck in under an hour. They left the basement in great shape. We talked about pricing for additional jobs. Both men were pleasant and very pofessional. I will definitely call them again when I get my cleaning cap on and organize what should go.

I was very pleased with The Junk King's services. They arrived within the scheduled time to give an estimate for hauling away a couple of piles of fencing, and when I accepted the estimate, said the truck could be there in 15 minutes. They were very polite, professional, and efficient, and were careful to ask whether or not I wanted to keep some decent firewood that was at the bottom of one of the piles. I was most impressed that they swept up the area before they left! And the pile that had been bothering me for a long time was all gone within less than an hour of their arrival. They charged me the estimated price, and cheerfully accepted an Angie's List coupon. I would definitely recommend their services. The only reason I gave them a lower rating on the price is that they had a big special through Angie's List a couple of weeks after they did the work for me, which would have saved me quite a bit. But that's just matter of timing.

I had taken advantage of an Angie's List Big Deal and made an appointment with the company. After waiting a few hours on the appointed day I called the company and found they had no record of the appointment. However, they said they had a truck in the area and could send it later that morning. They came about an hour later. The 2 men were courteous and efficient. They completed the job quickly.

The called called 20 minutes before arriving, as promised, and were here on time. The two men were courteous, very efficient in their work, and very professional.

The work was done quickly and carefully and within the estimate he gave me over the phone (1/2 a truckload, minus Angie's List coupon, plus $20 disposal of TV). I was very happy with the work they did and would recommend Junk King to anyone! Thank you, Scott! Leslie

I purchased a coupon for the hauling away of some of my trash. The appointment was for Saturday at 12.00. While I was out I had a call saying that they could come earlier. I arrived home and they had waited for me, which was great. We established I had a coupon and the men removed a descent amount of my trash (some is still frozen to the ground and will have to wait for the temperatures to warm up). The men were efficient and courteous and swift. I could not read the writing on the slip handed to me when the men left, so I communicated with Scott the owner. He was understanding and swiftly cleared up the problem of me not being able to read the writing. Excellent and efficient service.

Everything went great. They took away the cooler and microwave for the minimum flat fee . They had to charge me extra for the TV's because of the disposal fee (which was lower than taking it to a recycling place) Two guys came and carried the cooler out of the store then got everything else out of my truck and it only took about 15mins. Easiest removal we've ever had!

We had some construction material that our local town does not collect. Scott was very accommodating and reasonably priced. We were relieved that he could help us. He is now in our contacts list for future reference when we have future items that will require removal and that our local trash will not collect.

Scott and company were very professional and pleasant. They were prompt and neat. Scott responded very quickly to my initial email and I had my junk removed more quickly than I could have imagined. I enjoyed dealing with them, and the price was great. I will definitely call them for future junk removal. I found them as part of an Angie's List Big Deal, and received $100 off the price of the service which made it a fantastic deal.

easier and cheaper than a Bagster would have been (and I like the Bagster service very much for larger disposal jobs). These guys are great - will definitely use them for similar work in the future!

Did excellent work. They had to carry out a old sofa bed that was heavy and cumbersome, and they had to so through a narrow doorway and a steep set of stairs. Not easy work.

Took no more than 45 minutes. Very professional.
