Bob's Magic Broom

The chimney was in very bad condition and had been bellowing out black smoke. The oil company explained why this was happening (I won't bore you with the details) and once they fixed the problem, I called Carl. Joey was a little bit later than expected (maybe by an hour) but I was told in advance and was kept up to date of Joey's ETA by Carl. Once on the job, Joey gave both flues a first rate cleaning from what I could observe and he took several hours to complete the work even though I was obviously the last house of the day. He also paid close attention to the furniture and rugs which I really appreciated. Later that night, Carl called again to apologize for the slight delay. I can't imagine a better chimney cleaning experience. I have asked Carl to give me an estimate on some chimney repair and hope to report back on that experience once it is completed.

Everything went great. They actually arrived almost a half hour early, which was nice, though could have been a bit annoying if I had been traveling home to meet them. They spent maybe a half hour, tops, sweeping out the chimney from the roof and then vacuuming out the firebox and the hearth (it was just a call for routine cleaning/maintenance). Everything was very clean and they didn't track soot around or leave things messy. Also nice to get the $10 discount since we found them on Angie's List. Very pleased and will definitely use them again.

The company was very responsive and punctual, interactive and professional. We'll definitely call them again to perform any chimney-related work.

The experience went very well. The only thing is I'm not sure that their price was reasonable. I happen to think that it is on the higher side. They were clean and tidy and cleaned up any mess they made. They were prompt and responsive. I would use them again in the future and recommend them to others.

My impression of the company is OK, most of the repointing work was done by an unexperienced worker (cousin of the owner) but the owner and his father did check on him and did some touch ups. 2nd part of the job was to install a rain cap and I had to wait several weeks before they came to put it on top. 3rd part, adding waterproofing to the chimney, which will be a quick job, is still outstanding. I might call them in a week if I don't see them until then.

He was very professional, punctual, and polite. He did a great job. He was neat, clean and did a thorough job.

Bob Doyle was punctual, did the work quickly and very cleanly. The flue wasn't too dirty, but there was definitely material to be removed from the smoke shelf.

It went fine overall. Mr Doyle arrived at my home on time, and when he saw my cats, he proceeded to tell me about an argument he had gotten in with a client at one time; his voice grew louder and stronger as he related the tale. (Not a good note to start on). He went to his van to bring the vacuum in the house and I went about doing other things.

Just like others have reported, Bob will tell you whether work needs to be done or not, and if it doesn't need to be done, he won't charge you for it. He took a look up the chimney, and said there was nothing to be done, and moved right on to the stove. He worked fast, gave us advice on how to use the stove (we'd never had one before), and when he left, you'd never know he'd been there. He called ahead to let me know he was running late, but in the end he was only 15 minutes late. Still, it's nice not to be left in the dark about when people are going to show up.

The person who came to do the job was very friendly and talkative. The chimney was really bad and potentially dangerous and he did a great job of cleaning it and the work around him. It looks almost like new again.

He was extremely honest. He inspected my chimney and told me there was nothing wrong with my chimney liner, which conflicted with information I received from another company. He didn't try to sell me more services than what I was looking for, he could have, since people rarely go and look at the problem for themselves, but he was very honest.

They wiggled the damper loose and said it didn't need to be repaired, saw no bats, checked two flues and found that they didn't need to be cleaned. They charged us for inspecting the two chimneys ($35 + $10) and were on their way. We were very happy that they didn't insist on a cleaning when we didn't need one. A very good experience.

We chose them because they were the most conservative in giving repair suggestions and didn't try to do a hard sell on us. We were hoping we'd have to re-point the chimney, but instead it became obvious we'd have to rebuild it once the re-point job started. (Not a big surprise to us, we'd just been hoping it wasn't that). They then stepped it up to get the job done, added more men to the project and kept in touch with us about it all along the way. They were professional, polite, and we were very pleased with the finished result.

Karl, Bob, Mike, and Xavier rock! Not only did they do a great job, they used a rig that did not put any dents or pressure on the shingles. When they routed a bit more of the chimney than expected they stuck to their original quote, which really helped us as new home owners. Karl asked us to handle the unexpected brick replacement; which we thought more than fair. The result is a wonderful chimney that is now bright, clean, capped, no longer leaking water in the fireplace, and an improved oil boiler performance draft because of their work and the oil burner maintenance soup.

I appreciated how quick Bob's Magic Broom service was as it only took them a couple of hours to do the job. To find out if I was happy with their work, they advised me to start up my fireplace to see if I was still noticing the back smoke problem that I was having. Needless to say, I didn't. I am really not sure on the price that they charged me but I think it was about average.

Carl was great! Friendly, prompt, courteous & clean.

Bob covered the floor and carpet, cleaned quickly and efficiently, and made good on his commitment that we would never know he had entered the house. He also checked our upstairs fireplace and determined that it did not need sweeping for another two years.

He arrived on time, checked each of the three fireplaces and explained that all needed a cleaning. He explained what he was going to do and approximately how long it would take. He was very professional and personable and cleaned up after himself thoroughly.

They showed up on time, and inspected the chimney (it was filthy and needed a good cleaning). They were very clean (laying down drop cloths, etc) and performed the work in less than 45 minutes. Nothing out of the ordinary or unexpected popped up. The price was the same as the quote!

We were very pleased with the level of knowledge and thoroughness of the evaluation. Bob even went up on the roof, which was not a simple undertaking.

Excellent experience! After another company I had used for years failed to show up for a scheduled appointment, I was desperate to get my chimney cleaned at the busiest time of year. Called several places and Bob's Magic Broom was the only company to return my call. They were able to see me the following week. Bob did a very thorough job. I will definitely use this company for my annual chimney cleanings in the future.

All companies I called did phone quotes, and Bob's was the most competitive. Bob Sr. made recommendations on repairs we could make ourselves on duct work that was old and repointing the chimney. He had informative answers to all questions. I ordered a cap from him and made future arrangements to have that installed. Bob Jr. booked the appointment and is very personable and professional.

Called and left message about 2-family home chimney sweep and fireplace servicing. No response.

Bob arrived exactly on time with a helper, did the work within an hour, and charged a very reasonable fee compared to the other chimney sweeps. My house was left immaculate.

Workers were a bit late (got lost on the way), but were friendly, efficient and clean, and were in and out quickly.
