Joseph Wood arrived just after 11:00 am as promised. He looked over the make and model of my toilet to verify the information I had given Mike over the phone yesterday. He then called his supplier and photographed the parts so that his supplier would be completely sure about what parts were needed for the job. Joseph then explained to me that the flush mechanicism on my toilet was an older model that was no longer in production and would need to be replaced completely rather than repaired. He provided a detailed estimate. After my agreement he went to get the parts and returned within 30 minutes. He was able to complete the repairs within another 40 minutes. Joseph Wood was professional, helpful, pleasant and made sure that I understood what he was doing and why he was doing it. I would gladly use Boston Standard again and happily recommend them to my family and friends.

We first had Boston Standard Plumbing install a garbage disposal for tenants in our condo, and had a good experience with that. We had wanted to convert from oil to natural gas, and I consulted with Mark Cleary at BSP about this for a good while. It is impossible to overstate this young man's professionalism, openness, knowledge and expertise. We ultimately did more than simply convert from oil to gas, but re-did the whole house heating system. It is not possible to create zones with steam heat, so we converted to a hot water system, which distributes heat with Slant/Fin baseboard heating elements. I purchased Nest Thermostats for each of three zones. The job took two weeks, was done on schedule, and Mark, his colleagues and his apprentices were all remarkably professional, clean, prompt and hardworking. Mark gave me the names of past customers while I was doing my due diligence, and one of them in particular, someone who works in the energy conservation field, gave me a very high comfort level both with having the job done, and with the quality of the BSP shop. This prior customer told me he had shopped around more than I had, and BSP was more costly than other contractors, but he felt he was paying for a high level of expertise and quality, and I did too. I should mention that I financed the job primarily through a Massachusetts incentive program, the 7 year 0% HEAT loan, which Mark had turned us on to. So the system works well, I feel I can rely on BSP if anything goes wrong, and I feel we've added significantly to the value and comfort of our home, and expect to recoup a significant amount of the cost in savings over the next five years. There were subcontractors, too, an electrician, Jeff, who was great, and even the haulers (oil tank, radiators) were very efficient and respectful. We've recovered the space our radiators used to take up, and the baseboards don't take up space at all. I was interested, and Mark was always willing to fill me in on how things worked and not react to my ignorance about basic science. One word of advice, I finally pulled the trigger on the project in the middle of winter. We heated the house for two weeks with space heaters BSP provided, and did not get lucky with the weather. This should be avoided if possible. It gets cold, and the electric bill adds to the cost of the job, of course ($500). The other minor issue was we didn't negotiate well was regarding carpentry. There was some confusion on our part as to whether finish contracting would be part of the price or not, confusion resulting from a certain opaqueness to the quote (here's the number, no itemization). So now I have a few holes in the wall to patch and soffits that need to be built that I can't seem to get around to doing or having done. At one point, Mark re-installed some pipe in closets so we would not have to do carpentry work to cover it up, and this was much appreciated. But all in all we are very satisfied.

Jeff and Jake arrived promptly at the given time, gave a quoute for the work, and finished quickly. They were curtious and efficient. I would recomend them and will use the company again. Price was right in line with what I thought it would be

Boston Standard Plumbing and Heating Inc. was the only company that picked up the phone at about 6PM. They said they had availability the next day between 10AM-12PM and they were there at 10AM. Nick came, was very knowledgeable, fixed the problem (a bathtub valve that would not plug the bathtub). He also gave me an estimate of putting a water submeter, and helped me adjust a kitchen faucet. Very happy with the work. In terms of price, $99 for an adjustment of the bathtub plug and a faucet seems like a lot (then again, plumbers tend to be expensive). They also said that the $25 coupon that they have for Angie's list customers only applies to orders more than $200, so it did not apply. I did not see this on the coupon. So, in short, work and expertise were great, I am not so sure about the price.

When the leak reappeared shortly after their visit (still within the appointment window), i called the guy who'd just left, and he would not return to look at the now evident problem without ANOTHER service charge. To add insult to injury, the company would not honor an Angie's List Putting on booties does not make you professional. Coming back within the appt window at no additional charge does. The Angie's list coupom says: "Coupon For 'Boston Standard Plumbing & Heating Inc' Mention "I Love Angie" for $25 off your next service call!" it lists no restrictions such as "does not appy to service charge", which is what i was told when i tried to use this coupon.

responded very quickly to.. I had had them do work for me last April and was very satisfied with their work, which is why I called them again in December. They responded to my calls very quickly and everyone I dealt with was very accomodating and polite. Price was explained very clearly before work commenced. Work was completed as agreed and in a timely fashion. I was extemely pleased with their work both times. I'm not that familiar with plumbing costs, but I think they were a little pricey, though I was happy to pay it for the great service.

They were about 2000.00 more than the other estimate I got. And they were $3000.00 higher on the multi-zone estimate I got.

Boston Standard Plumbing gave me an estimate to install a water filtration system. After receiving a previous quote from another plumber, I thought the only way I could get filtered water was to have another contractor drill a hole in my granite counter top for the filtered water faucet. Boston Standard gave me another option which was less invasive and would not require drilling into my beautiful counter tops. The plumbers were very polite, professional, and punctual. They wore foot coverings over their shoes in order to not to track in dirt from the outside which I really appreciated. I was given different option of filters to install under my kitchen sink. The more expensive one filtered out lead so I chose that one. We scheduled a later date to install the filter and it was seamless. I don't have to deal with ugly attachments on my faucet or frequently buying filters. The filter they installed over the summer is still in use. I would definitely recommend Boston Standard Plumbing to install a water filtration system.

Thee people I spoke with (over the phone) were organized, punctual, and answered all questions. The person who came to do the work was careful and considerate. He took my questions and concerns seriously and answered everything to my satisfaction.

Purchased the Angie's List Big Deal for Toilet Tune-up (x3) and another Big Deal for Bio-Clean Drain Cleaner. I was very pleased with the service that I received from Boston Standard. From the office staff to the two technicians that came to the house, everyone was polite and curteous. The technicians arrived on time, were very careful not to bring the outside into the house, explained everything that they were doing and cleaned up after themselves before they left. I wlll definitely call them back for future plumbing needs. As pleased as I was with the service, the Bio-Clean was a huge disappointment. I applied the cleaner as instructed, even applied some additional applications, and have not seen any benefit. This purchase, in my estimation, was a waste of money.

The drain cleaner works fairly well

The plumber arrived on time and got right to work. He was prompt, personable and tidy in his work. He left both work spaces clean and both toilets were fixed were fixed to our satisfaction. We would call Boston Standard Plumbing & Heating again for work in the future.

We were very satisfied with them. They are very good. They are very professional. We recommended them to our daughter and they did an extensive work in her house. They did heating and all that. They were excellent. They are not cheap but the quality of work and professionalism was good.

The largest project they completed was a repair of a very old, leaking pipe in our condo's basement. The pipe belongs to another owner, but since I have a service contract with Boston Standard, they provided the estimate for free. At the time of the estimate, the technician took care to understand the issue and described what needed to be done thoroughly. As it required custom pipe-cutting work, he could not do the repair right then. They later returned to complete the work; scheduling was easy and their coordinator MaryAnn is always a pleasure to deal with. He provided a well-written estimate and gave me all of the details I needed to explain the issue to my neighbor. I wasn't present when the repair work was done, but it was completed about 2 weeks later. The technicians I have worked with have always been punctual, very professional, and always take care to explain the issues and solutions. I have been very satisfied with all of the work they have performed.

The company themselves were fine with scheduling and responsiveness, but the product really did not solve the plumbing problem I had.

The plumber checked the hot water heater, did a flush, and cleaned up.

I called them ahead of time to let them know I would be picking up the merchandise instead of scheduling a delivery. They were very nice and arranged a pickup date and time. Transaction was smooth and no surprises. Their store front was not easy to find though, so plan ahead and ask for directions!

We were going to have him install a faucet but we ended up paying over $1000.00. When the plumber came it would have been better if he had told us before he started the work was going to cost more money. He was a very good plumber. Everything was done nicely, neatly. I would use them again if they could give me estimate for what the job would cost before doing the work.

An old cast iron drain pipe in my basement sprung a leak due to corrosion/pitting. I called Boston Standard on a Sunday night, left a message, and they called back within 5 minutes. They scheduled a plumber to come out the next morning. They called 30 minutes ahead and showed up on time, as promised. They determined that the whole drain pipe from the vertical kitchen stack all the way to the sewer stack (about 15 feet) needed to be replaced with PVC. Both guys were very knowledgeable and explained the pros and cons of a doing a smaller, cheaper repair versus replacing the whole pipe. I opted to replace the pipe as it was in pretty bad shape, and as it turned out, the thing disintegrated once the guys started cutting it. They scheduled the repair for Wednesday (two days later) and came back on time and had the job finished by noon. I really enjoyed the two guys... they were very detailed in their explanations to me and even replaced a ball valve on my hot water tank for free after noticing it was leaking! This company is very professional and provided me an estimate based on the JOB, as they don't charge by the hour. So it was nice to see that the amount they quoted me was what it ACTUALLY ended up costing me. I will definitely use these guys again! As for the "B" rating for pricing, I have really nothing to compare this to as I didn't receive other estimates. It just SEEMED to be a little more than I would have thought, but at least there was no surprise at the end. It was well-worth the money either way.

I called on Monday 3/4 and the company sent 2 men on Tuesday 3/5 to provide a quote, and do the work on the spot if the quote was accepted. I was impressed they moment they put on plastic shoe covers before even stepping into my house (it was wet outside from snow melt). They had to call in to their service to get the quote amount, wrote it up and started work immediately. Both were friendly and professional

They replaced the internal workings of my toilet and gave me an estimate for a leak in my tub. They were very informative and helpful and took the time i needed to make sure I understood the full procedure and any other questions i might had. They even brought their own booties so they do not ruin my floor. I would definatley recommend them and would easily use them again.

I called Boston Standard and they had an appointment that morning. The service man was running about a half hour late and he called to let me know this. Excellent service. I would highly recommend.

In Sept I ordered $99 for Furnace, Boiler or Heat Pump clean and check program offered by Boston Standard Plumbing & Heating Inc I didn't have time to contact them until the beginning of March. I send the company one email including the coupon. The next day, I got a call from the company asking for the time for my house visit. The two technicians ( Jeff and Mike ) came on time and they were very friendly. They were professionally dressed and even put on special coverage on their shoes so that they won't bring dirt to customers' home. They checked my heating system carefully and suggested that I should replace them since my system was too old and the condition was too dangerous to continue to use. Then they spent 15 min generating a estimate for the replacement and patiently answered my questions. Their paperwork is very clean and clear too. It's a good experience working with them this time. I appreciate their checking out for me . I recommend them for their professional service and believe their prices are reasonable. Thanks. Li
