Boston Standard Company

Boston Standard was great . Our old hot water heater blew out. Boston Standard was great at answering our questions about other types of hot water heaters (on demand, hybrid...) and what would be needed to switch. They were punctual and professional. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any of a newer more energy efficient model of of a standard hot water heater.

I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for this service and it was A-plus, all across the board.

All went very well. Professional, prompt and courteous people who did a great job, cleaned up after themselves and worked in a very timely and efficient manner.

I bought a deal and received an email response within hours. I spoke with a very friendly woman in the office and set up the appointment. The technician called before he came and was on time. Wore shoe covers (love that). He explained the problem and the work required. He did a great job and cleaned up after himself. We were very happy with the work and are anxious to see our water bill next month! We plan to use Boston Standard Plumbing in the next few weeks for a furnace tune up before winter. We would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants quality professional plumbing work for reasonable prices.

I saw the Big Deal offered and purchased it, but quickly received a message saying I was outside the business's service area. It was disappointing as I have several small plumbing issues I'd like to have addressed. Also it took about a month to get my money rebated. I believe there should have been disclosure that the deal was limited to certain geographic locations.

The plumbers arrived promptly at the time arranged. They were friendly. They fixed the radiator (assessed what was wrong first). They waived the service charge and charged me for the diagnostics of the problem. They were in and out in less than an hour.

It went great. Mike and Kevin were prompt, courteous, and very efficient. They got all my little repair jobs finished within two hours and left the place clean. Mike also gave me a good analysis of a couple of other plumbing situations in my house and what the options were if I wanted to do anything about them. He knows what he's doing, answered all my questions, and got done in time for me to catch the bus I needed to catch. Price included one year service plan. I had earlier bought an Angie's List coupon ($99 for $200 worth of work). I'm very pleased and would happily hire them again.

So far, so good. They were courteous and friendly. The boiler they put in passed inspection, so it all seems to be fine.

I responded to an offer which came via email from Angie's List regarding plumbing service for $99.00. After contacting the service provider, I received a call from their appointment scheduler informing me that they are a Boston-based company that does not provide service in my town (I live west of Boston). Since I had already transacted with Angie's List for the $99.00 special, I had to take the time to apply for a refund of my money, So, not only did I NOT line up a plumber for service, I had to waste more time getting Angie's List to refund my $99.00. This is not a very efficient way to do business, in my opinion. I have no ill will toward the plumbing contractor, Boston Standard Plumbing & Heating, Inc. I'm sure they are a fine company providing adequate service to their customer base. My problem is with Angie's List for emailing me the offer for their service. If the vendor does not service the area in which I live, why did Angie's List send the offer to me in the first place? Should it be incumbent upon the end user to vet each and every offer Angie's List makes to them? What sense does that make? Surely the technology exists that would allow Angie's List to filter offers appropriately to the areas that the vendor services, and thus avoid headaches and wasted time on the part of their paid subscribers. Bad move, Angie. I, and my fellow subscribers await your explanation.

Came in the middle of the night in the middle of a 3-day holiday weekend. Had to drive to Brookline from the south shore. Took care of the problem and gave us good prices on everything including a service contract. We had called at least three other so-called 24/7 plumbers, including one we had used before, and only he (Mark) responded. Courteous, professional, just great.

Everything went well and they did an excellent job.

I was so impressed with these folks! They were prompt, thorough and quoted me a price that, in the end was higher than what they actually charged me! So I paid less than I expected which was a total surprise and very welcome. The job was neat and they were done in just a few hours. I would DEFINITELY use them again. It's so hard to find a good plumber and now that I have, their number is in my phone!

Nick saved the day when my efforts to switch out the rubber hoses to the washer failed miserably. He showed up almost immediately and remedied the situation quickly and effectively. I had to pay a lot to get it fixed but it was an emergency and on a Sunday so I guess it's fair for them to charge more. But I would definitely recommend them. No hassle and money well spent! They are very professional with a wealth of experience. Each service technician gives you there mobile number in case of any questions regarding the install.

The two young men who came from Boston Standard Plumbing were very promt and professional. They spent about a half hour fixing the drain, which I've already had fixed before. According to them, the problem is the design of the drain, which of course will cost more to fix permanently. It's running great right now, so I was happy with the service.

Mike and Roy were extremely professional and persevered at what proved to be an extremely difficult replacement of the leaking valve. They continuously kept me in the loop as to what they needed to do next to resolve the problem. I am extremely satisfied with Boston Standard Plumbing and Heating. I will enthusiastically recommend this company to family and friends without hesitation. This is my new "go to" company when plumbing needs arise.

Very professional and prompt service from original estimate through to completion of work. Service technician was very knowledgeable, and he thoroughly explained the process and gave options. Estimate was the most comprehensive of all received and price was fair. Always arrived on time; started and completed work on date promised. I have no hesitation about referring them for this type of work.

Installed central AC in older home with existing hot air heating system and necessary duct work. Very prompt and courteous service. Always arrived on time, completed work in time frame given. Thoroughly explained options and process. Most comprehensive estimate, fair price. Experienced and knowledgeable.

They did flush the water heater, but that took less than 10 minutes. Afterwards, during what I guess was the "inspection," they walked through the house with me, made a list of a number of repairs and upgrades, including new toilets, and gave me an estimate for how much each item would cost. Once this was done, I asked them to change a filter in my whole house water filter. Instead of saying "Sure, that'll only take a few minutes,"one of the guys said he would not touch that task, as he had become very sick when changing a filter for someone else.The two guys that came out were very competent, smart, and clearly well trained. They were also polite and friendly. However, I was not happy with the way the visit turned out. I felt like the company had offered this deal purely to get more customers, rather than to show me how good they were, so I would want to hire them again. Basically, I felt like I had paid for them to come to my house and give me an estimate. Also, I found the response to the filter request to be surprising and disappointing.

They did a very good job. I signed up for their yearly maintenance plan. Mark got an emergency call before he came to me, so he was about an hour late, but that is understandable on a Saturday.

I can’t say enough good things about them. The gentleman who came out was very polite and knowledgeable. He was very nice, and everyone I spoke with at the company was wonderful. Everything was timely, they stuck to the estimate and cleaned up very well. I will be using him as my plumber from now on.
