They were great. I analyzed three or four vendors. I interviewed all of them. They all came and measured my house. I went with Roscia's because of their reports on Angie's List, because they were local and because they were a mid price point for what I wanted to do. One of the other vender's had a black mark on Angie's List and I didn't click with them when I interviewed them. They did a great job of going up my chimney so they didn't have to make a lot of holes in it. They cleaned up fantastically. They came back to check on the work. I used them again on a plumbing need that I had. Their service was outstanding again. Their prices are reasonable.
Description of Work: They replaced my boiler.

I will only use this contractor for all my future plumbing and heating needs. At 4:30pm on a Friday afternoon I discovered the hot-water heater at my elderly mother's home was leaking and virtually ready to completely burst. After contacting several other vendors I found on Angie's List, I discovered Roscia's ---- not only was the quote considerably less expensive than the other vendors, but they promised to have the work completed THE FOLLOWING DAY - SATURDAY!!! The work was completely professional ---- hot water heater is high-quality, the men arrived on-time and were completely professional --- polite, quiet, and very competent. The did not make any unnecessary noise [loud music, etc]; did not waste any time; did not disturb anything in the basement and cleaned-up everything upon completion of their work. This is a very, very professional company ---- truly "Master" technicians whose work is first-rate and the quality of the hot-water heater is first-rate as well. I would have paid several hundred dollars more for such professional work, especially considering the emergency installation combined with the best product.

I had a great experience with this company. Pat Roscia was able to schedule me promptly for a quote. He showed up on time and listened to my concerns. Our water pressure in our newly purchased home was horrible -- you could barely wash your hands once you'd flushed the toilet, and forget using any two sinks at once. Pat noted that we are not in a location that should have low water pressure, nor do we have particularly small piping coming into the house (in fact, quite large), and suggested that we have the city water & sewer folks check to see if there was blockage between the meter and the street. He also took a look at our past-due water heater and noted that it was already starting to leak, and that a couple of the valves in the connecting pipe were old and should probably be replaced with an easier to use version (the lever kind rather than those metal wheel type). He said he'd e-mail me a quote and that in the meantime I should contact the city. Sure enough, the city water folks found that the connection to the main was obstructed and were able to clear it out and now the water pressure is wonderful -- very grateful to Pat for suggesting this as it solved the real problem and didn't cost me anything (taxes aside ;). His daughter sent the quote by e-mail and it seemed quite fair for the work, so I contacted him yesterday to schedule an appointment, and he was able to schedule for this morning! He sent two workers (including I believe his son-in-law) for "8:15," and I said that was ok as long as it wasn't earlier than 8:15; I believe they were here by 8:30 which was perfect (as I said, I told them not to be early). They got the job done and the pipe work they did with the new valves looked very nice, and they didn't leave a mess. In the process of doing the work they found that the bibcock on the front of the house didn't have a handle (!) and they had mentioned it to my husband who told them to go ahead and replace it with a normal bibcock that you can actually open... When all was done they charged me just the original quote, no extra for that bibcock. Everyone I was in contact with from Roscia Plumbing & Heating was a pleasure to work with and I will definitely call them the next time I need a plumber!
Description of Work: A leaking, 7.5 year-old (6 year warranty) 75-gallon hot water heater was replaced with a new 10 year hot water heater. Several old valves were replaced, plus a nonfunctional bibcock (hose hookup) found during the work was replaced. Water pressure and the possible need for a pressure booster were evaluated; no installation was done after it was determined that the problem was between the house and the main (and was fixed by the city).

I called Roscia's in a panic because my basement had been flooded and the water heater had stopped working. Everyone was in the same boat as we were that week, and I wasn't having any luck getting an immediate appointment with the other Angie's List recommended plumbers. Then Pat picked up the phone on the first ring, told me he'd call me right back, and he actually did. He sent two of his guys over within 15 minutes. Amazing. They warned us that the water heater might be a total loss, but that they'd try to dry it out. Well, they succeeded! Artie and his helper were terrific. They'll be my first call next time I have an emergency.

They have responded quickly - same or next day. They've done very good work. One time, when a bathtub faucet started dripping again several weeks after they fixed it - maybe from our tightening it too much - they replaced the washer again at no charge. I haven't shopped around much, but the pricing seems very fair.
Description of Work: Over several visits, they have repaired dripping faucets, fixed clogged drains (once using a subcontractor) and replaced a leaking water heater. $ amount an accumulated total.

Furnace broke the morning before a predicted blizzard. Two companies we called couldn't come for 48 hours, another wanted $400 for the visit. Plumber from Roscia came within 30' of calling, fixed the problem in 15'. A simple job, but done very quickly, cheaply and professionally, very pleasant personnel.

After many delays, my old plumber abandoned the my oil to gas conversion project, so I signed up for Angie's List and found Roscia Plumbing under A rated plumbers. I called the company, told them I was desperate, and the owner, Pat Roscia, was estimating the job within an hour. A couple days later his crew arrived and worked continuously until the job was done (and on time). The new system is really well put together, which is exactly what I was looking for, and given the messy state of the old system, I appreciate the complexity of the work done (right). Jill in the office was kind enough to help fill out the rebate forms for GasNetworks.

They were very responsive for my tight deadline. I needed to get a gas fireplace working before the closing date. They came over and even though the fireplace was not a model or brand they were familiar with, they were able to research it, get the parts and get it working in time for the walk through inspection of the house.
Description of Work: We called them because we were selling our house and needed the gas fireplace looked at. The pilot light would not ignite when I followed the instructions that came with the unit. They came over to look at the problem and came back a week later to install the parts that would fix it.

Fantastic. They could have told us we needed a new disposal and I wouldn't have thought twice about it. Rather, they fixed the existing disposal for a nominal charge and the shower head in the upstairs bathroom at no charge (took them 5 minutes to fix).
Description of Work: Our garbage disposal stopped working. An electrician who was doing work in our house fixed it one time, but when it stopped working a second time, he said he thought we needed it to be replaced. Roscia's plumber came out and identified a different problem, fixed the existing disposal and told us we did not need to replace it. That saved us a substantial amount of money. In addition, they repaired a shower head in an upstairs bathroom for no charge.

Pat Roscia promptly came out to do the estimate himself. He later called me with the information and then even called me back to tell me that we were eligible for a discount. This simple act is what swayed me to choose him and it was a great chose. The two man team that did the work were very competent and knowledgeable and friendly.

When I got home from work I noticed the heat had stopped working. It was almost 6:00. I had never had any issues with my gas heating system but the first person I thought of to call was Pat Roscia. His guys had installed my water heater last year when it needed to be replaced and they did a wondeful job. When I called I got the answering service and was told she would page Pat immediatley. He returned my call within 10 minutes and had someone out to my house wihin the hour as promised. He diagnosed the problem quickly based on my description and what I has already checked. The thermocouple needed to be replaced but as he removed the defective thermocouple the "holder" or "coupling" came apart in his hand. He did not have that piece on the truck and said it was an older piece that most likely is not stocked at Home Depot either. If he could not locate one of these parts tonight we would have no heat until the following day when a part could be ordered and installed. He left my house and came back about 30 minutes later with the exact piece he needed. Granted, it was not brand new but it was in excellent condition and functional. He has stripped it from a similar unit at the shop. He installed the new thermocouple and "coupling" and we had heat again. We did have to call him back in the morning because we smelled gas in the basement when we woke. There was a loose connection that he had to fix. Overall the problem was solved in a prompt and professional manner. We will use Rosica's for all our plumbing and heating needs going forward.

Intake by phone was pleasant. An appointment was set up, and the plumber showed up on time. I had two toilets working incorrectly(for two different reasons)and a water line to the fridge that didn't seem to be working. The plumber was efficient, professional, and helpful. He even pointed out a couple of potential problems I hadn't noticed, but with no pushing or "selling". The price had not been negotiated/estimated up front, since a big part of the job was figuring out what was wrong, but the final bill was fair.

After a steady 3- day snowstorm, dumping a foot and a half of snow in Boston (did I mention it was just 2 days before Christmas??!!) I hopped into the shower to find only lukewarm water. When I went down to the basement to adjust the water heater I noticed quite a bit of water surrounding it. We sometimes have a problem with water in the basement following heavy rains or melting snow, but temps. had dropped and the snow outside was solidly frozen. I called the telephone # listed on the water heater and reached a call center that offered to make an appointment for the next available day service people would be in my area. I immediately went online to search Angie's List for a company in my area that sells/installs water heaters. I realized I was in "a pinch" given that it was just 2 days before Christmas and I enjoy taking hot showers and having the luxury of using hot water to wash dishes, etc. In my immediate area there were 3-4 highly rated companies. I figured I would call each, get quotes and hope that I could get next day (at the latest) delivery. My 1st call was to Roscias's Plumbing and Heating in Dedham. I explained to the gal who pleasantly answered the phone that I thought my water heater had failed but I wasn't entirely sure. She put me right on with the owner, Pat Roscia, who very patiently guided me through things to test on the existing heater to be sure it was the problem. I did what he suggested and determined we needed a new water heater. It was now 2:30 pm on a business day following a huge snowstorm! Pat had already installed the 2 water heaters he had in stock that day and would have to search for another one in the area. He said he would call around, try to locate one for me and call me back. He called me back 15 min. later and indicated he had located one to be delivered to his business and would send a couple of his workers to my home to remove the old one/install the new that very day. He couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The price he quoted me was $985, delivered and installed for a 40 gal. gas water heater with a 10 yr. warranty. I don't know the price of water heaters, whether that was high, low or average. What I do know is great customer service. The men arrived, had to shovel their way through the back end of my driveway to get down to my basement through my back door, and had some down time awaiting a separate delivery of the new water heater which was brought over in a pickup by Pat himself! While unnecessary, Pat knocked on my back door just to say "hi" and introduce himself. It was a pleasure to do business with this company! They were polite, professional, accommodating and went the extra distance you don't see that often anymore.

I could not have been more pleased with the results. The workers were very professional and showed up to the job on time each day. Once the job was started it was completed without interruption in about 3 days. Pat was always available to answer all my questions and would always return calls. The installation was very neat and professional looking. If I have any plumbing jobs in the future (and I know I will), Roscia's Plumbing is the first company I will call. The only problem I had was working with the energy company. Their sales department is terrible.
Description of Work: I converted from oil to natural gas for home heating. The job involved dismantiling and removing the old boiler hot water tank and all valves and piping. A completely new gas fired boiler and indirect hot water heater as well as all new valves, pumps and piping were installed. The equipment uses the latest high efficiency technology. I also had a third heating zone added.

Fixed leaky faucet with no problem. Tried to find source of leak in shower w/o ripping up ceiling, which proved impossible, but useful to have other possible causes ruled out. Punctual, friendly, professional, but quite expensive. (Though maybe all plumbers are.) This company has also come out to give me an estimate for a new heating system. Pleasant, knowledgeable reps, but it's been a month and no estimate. Understandable because I believe there is high demand for this service due to current oil prices.

I spoke with Pat Roscia and he explained that the 5/8th hexagonal nut often comes loose. He saved me a service call by telling me how to tighten it myself and determine if a leak really existed. Garbage disposal was leaking, checked Angie's list for local plumbers, called for appointment; got call back same day by owner. (Had used Consumer Reports to select replacement disposer model.) Price quote provided later same day. Appointment made for just a day or two later. Price provided was within expected range, based on checking unit prices on web (but InSinkErator is an expensive brand). Plumbers arrived at promised time. Work done within an hour, including drain/refill of water heater (recommended maintenance). Only glitch was that plumbers did not originally leave instructions or warranty card. As they were leaving, I asked about them, and men fished the papers out of box that had been destined for trash. Turns out the Insinkerator comes with longer warranty if plumber certifies that they install it, so worth it to get it and have them file it. Otherwise, work done correctly, cleaning, promptly.
Description of Work: Replaced garbage disposal with a new one (InSinkErator Pro Essential model). Also drained and refilled water heater.
