We had a minor problem with a door. I had called two companies to see if it could be fixed. The first company told me that it couldn?t be repaired. The second company sent a foreman who told me they could repair the problem. After two weeks of follow up calls, I gave up waiting for the second company. Then we searched Angie?s list and I called M. F. Goodwin. Within an hour I received a call from Jim who listened to my request. A few minutes later, I received a second call from Jim who told me if I wanted, Chris, the carpenter, could be at my house to evaluate the situation within an hour. Forty-five minutes later, Chris arrived and fixed the door. The company did everything right and the people with whom I interacted were fantastic. I cannot imagine having a better experience.

From beginning to end, both projects went better, than I imagined. From the start, I used this Angies site to contact Mike Goodwin, after reading all the reviews, and images of past jobs, that they had done. After contact MIke, we decided to start the bathroom project, after the new year. I received a fair estimate...outlining the scope of work in detail. What I would expect of him, and what was expected of me. His opjective was to do everything from begining to end...with all the finishes, including needed suggestions. My objective was to pick out the fixtures, including tile, faucets, surround, etc..to my specifications. All of his staff, as well as, his subcontactors, were on time; professional; cleaned up the area each time they were there; paid attention to detail; and were very respectful. They respected my opinions, and made their suggestions, in a very professional manner....in a clear collabarative manner. In addition to having a bathroom remodel, I requested Mike to undertake another project....my idea of creatng a new closet in an upstairs bedroom. This particular bedroom did not have an existing closet, and needed one. I gave him my design, and it was done to my specifications. It involved other side work, to be done, as well, which it too, was done to my satisfaction. There were a few other odds and ends things, that I wished to be done....and they completed those items, as well. I truly would use, this company again...with no hesitation!.

MF Goodwin did an outstanding job transforming our kitchen and accompanying family room space; everyone who sees it is blown away by the transformation. Mike Goodwin is professional and experienced. He knows what needs to get done and how to do it right and effectively leads his team to accomplish the job to his high standard. He is responsive and pleasant and has clearly earned the respect of his crew. His crew is polite and friendly and always left the space clean and neat when they left. They took pride in their work and that showed in the details; the custom carpentry work was better than we anticipated and really made a difference. Mike's crew checked in with us whenever they were on site to get our feedback or fill us in on the schedule for the day/week. Mike's subcontractors were competent and loyal; they arrived when expected and treated our home and family with care. When something was not done as we expected, it just took a chat with Mike's crew or quick call to Mike to either understand or get someone (crew or sub) back to the house to modify. Mike and his team did their best to minimize impact to our family while we lived through the renovation which took more than 3 months. We have lived with our new kitchen for a couple months now and there is nothing that we would change. We have already recommended Mike to several friends who are looking to renovate a kitchen or bath.

When I say "Bathroom Renovation" I mean, completely renovated a very old, very ugly bathroom. The only bathroom in the house. While four people were living in the house. Two of whom were teenagers. Right before Christmas. And it was done perfectly! I can't say enough about the people at MF Goodwin. From Mike's first visit he put us at ease. We hadn't done any renovations since we moved in 15 years ago and were nervous. He walked us through a few options and gave great advice. He recommended vendors for the fixtures and tile who were knowledgeable and made the shopping process stress-free. From the minute they started tearing out the walls to the time the project was done, the people at Goodwin were fantastic. They answered all our questions - and we had some doozies - patiently and thoughtfully. They were pleasant and easygoing and they bent over backwards to keep the work from getting in the way of us living in out house. And this is our ONLY bathroom - so you can imagine how much effort that must have taken on their part. And I have not even mentioned the quality of the work. They came in to a room that hasn't had a right angle in it since 1880 and made it a showplace. Not that we put a ton of fancy stuff in it, but the design Mike suggested took a tiny, oh so ugly room, and opened it up into a lovely place. The tile is beautiful, the pieces that might not have been exactly the right size for the weird space were augmented by the workers to look amazing. As someone who has always done my own amateur painting, I was floored at how effortlessly the painter managed to make the room look stunning. I just wanted my bathroom to look nicer and not have to freak out over the details. Instead I have a new favorite room in the house. Yes, I know it is weird that the bathroom is now my favorite room in the house. But I am not worried because in a few months I hope to have Mike and the guys back to do the kitchen!

I contacted Mike 2 years ago based on reviews I got from Angie's List and he responded to us immediately. He was one of 4 contractors we interviewed for the job and we liked him right from the start. However, we decided we weren't ready to move forward with the project at that time. We contacted Mike several times over the next year and a half to discuss the project. He helped us tremendously with designs and ideas during this time before any contract was signed. My wife and I could tell he was a class act. When we were finally ready to move forward, Mike's team and his sub contractors were a pleasure to deal with. The house was left very clean each day. We had several add ons throughout the job such as painting other rooms, plumbing needs in other areas of the house, additional electirical work, and a cabinet that needed to be fixed in the kitchen. Mike and his sub contractors addressed each one of these add ons and charged us quite fairly, and in some cases did the work without an extra charge. What impressed me the most is that we left for a two week vacation when the project was in full force and we came home to a completely renovated second floor. It was as if we were on a home remodeling show. Everything was finished and the house was amazingly clean. You would never had known all the hard work that was put into it. But I did know because my neighbors told me the long hours they worked including weekends to get it completed before we came home. I would highly recommend Mike to anyone looking to do a remodeling project.

I saw him on Angie's list and then I found our that another company I was thing about used him so I went with him. I wish he could do my whole house.

I recently had my bathroom completely remodeled by Mike Goodwin and his very skilled team who were very polite and considerate throughout the entire process. I found Mike to be very professional , organized, and responsive to all questions. He always returned phone calls and got the job done on a timely basis. Most importantly, he stayed on budget. I am completely satisfied with my beautiful new bathroom and I would not hesitate to hire Mike again. Based on my experience, Mike truly does stand out among the competition. I feel fortunate that I found Mike Goodwin on Angie's list.

The project went smoothly and we are thrilled with our new bathroom! It has the spa like feeling that I wanted. The flow of the space is perfect. It was Mike's idea to create a curved edge in the closet and the shower to soften the lines of the space. This was a brilliant idea and it worked out very well. I highly recommend Mike Goodwin for any type of remodel.

We saw the great reviews on Angie's List and had a reference from one of our friends who had used Mike and everything was good. Mike came out and fully explained everything, took pictures, and was very thorough in explaining what needed to be done etc. We left it with the Labor Day holiday coming up from when we met that we could expect an email with the quote some time after that. The quote never came. We reached out by phone and email and did not get a response back. It may have just been a case of being busy and falling through the cracks...but I needed to share the experience....

I will recommend Mike anytime and all the time. We got Mike's info from our realtor whose friend had used him for her kitchen remodeling. From the start date to the end date everything was perfect with Mike. He has a great team. If you want to see a person who really loves his job and enjoys what he does then you have to see Chris and Mike work. The best part about Mike was his responsiveness. He will promptly reply to your email or your phone calls. This is impressive considering he has to manage so many clients at a same time. As with any kitchen renovation, ours took quite a while, too. But mostly it was because of waiting for our town inspectors and/ or our condo association, which Mike had no control over. But at the end when the job was done we were left with a beautiful kitchen and that made all that pain worthwhile.

Mike Goodwin is an absolute gem. We found him and a few others through Angie's list and we had visits and estimates from 3 reputable contractors. We are so glad we went with Mike. We had a major water leak on Thanksgiving destroying our dining room ceiling below and much of the material between the floors. Mike came over promptly to get the wet crap out and dehumidify the area. The emergent needs were taken care of and then we had time to plan our new bathroom. Mike's estimates were fair and the final cost came in right on budget. He was here when he said he would be and he was easily accessible--he texted me and called which I appreciated. His subcontractors were all very professional and he communicated clearly about when they would arrive. He managed everyone with ease. He also gave us great referrals to vendors for materials both plumbing fixtures and tile and granite sources. We are new to the area and we were very satisfied with everyone he recommended. We had a previous furniture maker in New York state who said he would make our custom vanity by a certain date. Then he got sick and it derailed the whole bathroom job for a couple of months. This was completely caused on our end and Mike was very gracious about the delays even though it must have been a management nightmare to take down our job, move to another and then come back when we got the cabinet. There were very few problems during the job--one a breaker that kept tripping and he sent the electrician over within the hour to fix it. On a Saturday night during the project we noticed that our hot water had been shut off--a call to Mike and he talked me through the solution--but he was willing to come over if needed. I added a second exhaust fan and painting in another bathroom and he added our requests easily and economically. That kind of service is so rare. His painters and tile subs were EXCELLENT. We ended up with a master bath that we love and we still value Mike's advice on any project we have in the future.

Excellent job. Identified areas of concern explained how might be addressed. Incredibly through and accurate. Final report was delivered very quickly. Wealth of information in the report for protecting the value of the home.

From the start, Mike was fantastic! He came to our house a few times before the renovation started to just make sure that we were all on the same page. He was linked to Bravo Kitchen who helped design the kitchen and where we got the cabinets from. The price point was right in the middle of other estimates that we got. And this includes all the materials (including cabinets and granite). His cost of work, i believe, was about 1/2 of the total Living without a kitchen can be amazingly stressful so i was so pleased that they were there EVERY day working. He finished on time and on budget. Initially, we weren't going to gut the pantry but he really wanted it to look nice and so he threw that in as complimentary. I'm pretty sure that I called him every (or every other day) with a question about x, y or z. He was incredibly patient with my questions and very responsive. And to sum it up, the work that they did is beautiful. We live in an old house where none of the corners are square and they did a nice job of making everything flush. Mike also wanted to see all of our materials before we started (ex: floor, garbage disposal, etc) to make sure that we were choosing good quality stuff. Without that advice, I'm afraid to say we would probably would have chosen flooring that's not great for the kitchen. In the future, should we have more construction projects, he will be the first person we'll call.

We hired Mike Goodwin based on the ratings on Angie?s List, and the recommendation of a friend for whom Mike remodeled her kitchen. Mike visited the house and provided an initial estimate, and later brought his plumber to finalize the price. Mike got all the permits needed and arranged for all the inspections. We picked and purchased all the tile and fixtures before the job began. He estimated that the job would take 5 weeks, and he was right on the money. We were away on vacation when the job started, and Mike emailed us some pictures so we could see the progress. He accommodated us as much as he could by providing temporary shower facilities during the project. Mike has subcontractors that have worked for him for years and are competent and trustworthy. His crews were conscientious and friendly, protected our carpet and woodwork, and cleaned up completely at the end of the day. We especially liked the tile installation; the layout of the accent tiles inside the niches in the tub area was a pleasant surprise. He kept in contact with us at least a couple of times per week, letting us know what was going to happen. We love our new bathroom, and wouldn?t hesitate to recommend Mike Goodwin!

All the permits were obtained by Mike before work began. The bathroom was gutted, I was informed about, and shown, subfloor dry rote issues. These issues were repaired by Mikes' crew. Different subcontractors were used to do the demolition, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting. Mike and his crews were at all times professional and courteous, and did an excellent job on the bathroom. We were was so happy with his work, we rehired him to build a garage we had planned to have built. I think that speaks for itself.

Mike is very professional and has a great attitude. We felt comfortable with his capabilities and trusted him to be in our house for an extended period of time. We received 4 quotes and Mike was competitive but not the cheapest - which is not what we were looking for. The finished product looks great but there were many issues throughout the job such as improper measurements, miscommunication, delays, etc. All of the finishing touches were left to us such as caulking, hammering nail heads, etc. My impresison was that he had too many jobs going on at the time and may have lost sight of what was going on as I rarely saw him at the house. I really like Mike but I would be hesitant to use him again.

Excellent work, completed the job on time, as agreed . We plan to use MF Goodwin again for other upcoming projects.

Great work. The bathroom is beautiful. They went out of their way to get all the details exactly right. The team was professional and courteous and the project got done on time and on budget. Highly recommended.

I just completed my second project with MF Goodwin. My water heater had a slow leak causing damage in the garage below and in the kitchen where the water heater is located. After ServPro came to test for mold, dry the walls and floor and a partial demo on the garage walls and kitchen floor, I contacted Mike to see if his team would be able to complete the necessary repairs. Mike responded quickly and provided an estimate for the repairs. The garage required re-insulation and re-plastering of the walls. The kitchen required a complete demolition of the tile floor and a small area to be re-insulated and re-plastered on an outside wall. The kitchen floor was in really bad shape (not level) even after applying the cement board but Mike?s team worked meticulously to make sure the floor was perfect before the tile was installed. The result is a piece of art! I love the new wood-look tile floor. Aside from the required work, I also requested that Mike?s team install a new tile backsplash and retile the foyer. To complete the look, I just ordered new stainless appliances because I will never want to leave my renovated oasis. Mike's team works really hard and often on the weekends to complete the job as soon as they can. They are professional and accomodating and kept my dog safe as I was not present when most of the work was completed.

I put an inquiry through Angie's List to Mike and he responded the same day. He came out and was quick with the estimate. Based on his initial professionalism and the exemplary reviews on AL, we hired him. He provided a detailed breakdown of costs and started on the day he said. They gave a timeline of 5 weeks, and it took 6 weeks exactly. It probably would have only taken 5 if we did not have to wait on countertops (not their fault) and appliances (again, not theirs). Mike and his whole crew were a pleasure to work with, especially Chris and Phil. The attention to detail was incredible, things that I would not have noticed or had been bothered by were corrected quickly. Mike kept in touch a couple times a week, by phone or email, and dropped by the site at least once a week. I would highly recommend their company!

We had a great experience with our kitchen remodel! Mike and his subs did the whole job from demo to completion. He also recomended a fantastic kitchen designer, Bravo Kitchens, who helped us re-design the layout and pick the cabinets and countertops. They coordinated directly, as well, which was super helpful if Mike had design questions as they were doing construction. Mike, his team, and all his subcontractors were a pleasure to work with. They were all polite, nice, and very professional. The whole project lasted around 6 weeks. Mike was always available when we needed him. Also, he stayed on budget, even doing a few extra things for us, if something arose that needed to be dealth with (we have an older home). We couldn't be happier with process and the end result.

I used Angie's List to select 4 contractors to give estimates for this job. From reading previous reviews, I liked this company the best, and was pleasantly surprised when he came in at the lowest of the 4 estimates. Mike (the owner) came out to do the estimate and he was very professional and gave me all the information I needed. We had previously purchased all our fixtures and tile as we were planning to have this work done in the past but it didn't work out, so once we committed to going with this company, they were able to start the following week. Throughout the process, Mike was very easy to work with - he kept us updated on progress and was always accessible by phone or email for questions and agreeable when we requested changes or had special requests. There were a couple bumps along the way, but Mike's answer to any issue was always, "We'll take care of it," and they always did. The workers that were in our house were all polite and friendly. They actually finished earlier than quoted - he said 3-4 to weeks to complete and the bathroom was done in almost 3 weeks exactly. Overall we are thrilled with the finished project and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to others or to use them again for future projects.

........Everything went extremely well. We had picked out the fixtures & materials from a seperate company, so the price reflects labor & materials. Once everything arrived Mike came in with his workers & they did a great job. Mike & all of his employees were polite, friendly & professional. Mike stayed in touch with us throughout the entire project & we were always notified when someone was coming out & what they were going to do. They would clean up each day when they were done. I would not hesitate to hire him for my next project.......on time & within budget..........j/k
