Albee & Sons Painting

Referred to us by a friend who had used them. Unfortunately, our experience was not as positive as theirs had been. Took 2 days to hear back after our 1st call to them. Did come to look at the job. Promised estimate within 2 days, had to call to get it 4 days later. Was supposed to start on Monday 3/18, called in the morning to say would not be able to start until Tuesday and would be here by 9:00 a.m. Had to call when it got to 9:30 to find out where they were - arrived at 10 a.m. Estimate of $945 plus materials (no estimate on materials cost provided). We supposedly got a discount. When done with prep, sanding, painting, texture (did finish when estimated) they supposedly cleaned up. If that was cleaning, I am a duck! I am still finding texture on my floors (along with scrapes and digs from ladders, dust everywhere). During the process they unplugged a small fridge in our bedroom which holds insulin and other medications. DID NOT PLUG BACK IN! Came home to water on the floor (mixed in with the dust) and (luckily) the fridge was cold enough so that the 6 bottles of insulin were not warm. Did not even ask if it was okay to unplug and didn't tell us they had (even though someone was home at the time). When we got the final bill, they listed $532 worth of materials without providing actual receipts, just a listing of what they usually cost - definitely not impressed. I did suggest that if they were going to continue in business they at least needed to provide an estimated cost of materials and proof of cost on completion. Lastly, they left smears of paint on my driveway. I left a message about this and requested a call back which I have never received. The only positive thing I can say is that the paint job was fine. As for the rest of the experience - I would not recommend this company to anyone for any reason!
