Jeff was very courteous on the phone and came over the same day to inspect the deck and its supports. He felt the job could turn into more of a project than he was willing to take on. He gave a recommendation of another carpenter who was suited for the job at hand. I liked Jeff's honesty and professionalisim, and hope to use his services for other future projects.

Don't bother with this one. He returned my message to make an appointment to come give me a quote, more than a week after I left the message on his machine. He said he'd been so busy that he just decided to turn off his phone and not check his e-mail for a week. Two weeks after we eventually spoke, I called him the night before the actual appointment to confirm with him, and he said to me: "Oh yes. I'd been meaning to call you to tell you that I'm not coming to give you a quote tomorrow because I won't have enough staff to do a job that size...''

Careful, did a reasonable job, but costly for what was done.

Jeff is great to work with and is very creative. The solutions were not always immediately obvious for a lot of my work, and he consistently thought it through and came up with great ideas and then executed them. His energy was unflagging. I am a very detail oriented person and Jeff patiently listened to what I wanted no matter how tiny the request. He was also quite conscious of the costs and several times suggested that I might want to consider doing something myself to save some money and then would even give me a quick lesson in how to do it. He really seems to enjoy the work and the challenges that come with it. You do pay a premium for his time, but I found it to be worth every penny (and dollar). I have already called him again to come back and do more projects.

Jeff Lasky was incredibly responsive, very pleasant to deal with, pretty reasonably priced, and did a fantastic job. It took a little longer than we had hoped, but the results are really excellent, and we were very impressed with his knowledge and skills. He actually made several improvements to the designs that we had that made the entire installation look better.

Jeff is a very polite, likeable person who was largely responsible and competent at the jobs he did. His prices were fair. My complaints are: He more than once had to come back to clean up hand prints on walls, ceilings. He did not seem to notice this on his own, even after it happened once or twice and had to be called back. The last time I called he failed to return my call and when I called again, he explained that he was going through a very difficult situation and would get back to me in about a week. I never heard from him again. I want to add that I had written Jeff a very positive comment after the first time I used him and was reluctant to submit this. But I do think members deserve the whole truth.

Jeff & his assistant were excellent & so was the work. They were on time, very polite, neat, & professional, & worked steadily. Jeff's communications were clear & informative. He listened to my needs & made the final project exceed my expectations. Everything was very carefully made, of very high quality & made to last. He took his time making sure everything fit exactly & looked great. The quality was worth the price.

Jeff Lasky scheduled an appointment, arrived on time, reviewed each of the projects and gave excellent advice on not pursuing project #1 because of the poor cost - benefit and pursuing an alternative solution for project #2. He was honest and straight forward, and wasn't looking to create unnecessary work simply to make a buck. Will definitely call him again when I have another project. Highly recommended as someone I'd work with.

Jeff was absolutely fantastic. He came to my house to give me an estimate the day I called. I wanted the stairs done by the weekend, which was only 5 days away. He made it work for me. He also had a really clever design idea that solved some potential problems. The stairs are BEAUTIFUL! He and his assistant worked efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. They were appropriately proud of their work. The stairs look fabulous, and he worked with me to bring the price down on materials. I will absolutely call him again. He was fantastic.

I used Lasky Homesmith Services to install wooden windows in a basement sauna, and to repair damage to woodwork that a blocked sewage pipe had caused. I was very pleased with Jeff Lasky's work. He was punctual, courteous and kept me well informed on progress in completing the work. The quality of the carpentry was excellent. I also appreciated very much his initiative and creativeness in finding an innovative and cheaper solution to repairing a built-in cabinet, rather than rebuilding it completely. I would definitely use him again.

Jeff was very prompt at dealing with my request for an estimate. He turned up on time for the job, and completed it in a timely manner. He was very precise and the quality of the workmanship seems excellent.

My experience with Jeff was superb. He's a very talented guy who's both creative and meticulous. Anyone despairing over big, double hung, pulley windows should consult with Jeff before spending thousands to replace them unnecessarily. Additionally, Jeff is a pleasure to work with. He explains what the problems are and what his plan is to fix them. He really cares about his work, and it shows in everything he does. I can't recommend him highly enough. It should be noted that the $4,000 price I list included $877 for the replacement of old metal storm windows. I thought Jeff's price for his extensive work was very reasonable.

Jeff worked alone the first day, and with his son the second time. He was easy to communicate with, on time, careful, and neat. He knows how to solve problems, and takes the time to do jobs thoroughly, using the right tools. He is still working on a screen door (subcontracting it) and will come back again to hang pictures, and solve a dresser mirror problem. Since he is coming back, obviously I am hiring him again. For jobs that he doesn't do (installing gutters, refinishing wood) he provided me with names of others to contact.

Called this company almost 3 weeks ago, left a message on the answering machine, and still have not heard back from them.

Jeff returned my phone calls and provided estimates promptly, and performed quality work with a conscientious attitude. The original estimate was accurate. One of the screens was defective, he noticed this upon installation and took the initiative to have it replaced and came back on his own to install the new screen. The overall experience was very positive and I look forward to hiring him again.

RESPONSIVE TO OUR FIRST CALL TO DISCUSS WORK TO BE DONE. HE IS BUSY, SO IT TOOK SOME TIME TO GET SCHEDULED, BUT ONCE WE DID, THE DOOR AND LOUVERS WERE ORDERED AND INSTALLED IN A TIMELY FASHION. HE WAS RESPONSIVE AND FOLLOWED-UP TO CHECK THAT DOOR WAS OPERATING WELL.

JEFF TOOK TIME TO EXPLAIN THE PROCESS OF WINDOW RENOVATION AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE I HIRED HIM. DURING THE JOB, HE COMMUNICATED ABOUT THE PROGRESS OF THE WORK, SO I ALWAYS UNDERSTOOD WHAT WAS GOING ON. HE AND HIS HELPER WERE PLEASANT TO HAVE AROUND THE HOUSE. JEFF IS VERY CONSCIENTIOUS, AND HE REALLY DID THE JOB RIGHT. I FEEL THAT THE INTEGRITY OF MY HOUSE HAS BEEN RESTORED. I AM VERY GLAD I CHOSE TO RENOVATE INSTEAD OF REPLACE MY WINDOWS.

JEFF REPLACED THE CRACKED PANEL OF MY ANTIQUE WOODEN FRONT DOOR SO WELL THAT YOU CAN'T TELL IT WAS EVER BROKEN. WE ARE SO PLEASED WITH HIS WORK.

JEFF AND HIS ASSISTANT DID WORK AS REQUESTED, WERE PROMPT AND PROFESSIONAL. I LIKED THAT HE EXPLAINED HOW HE WAS DOING THINGS (FOR EXAMPLE, WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE DOOR KNOBS THAT WEREN'T WORKING WELL). HE ALSO SAVED ME SOME MONEY BY SUGGESTING THAT I PAINT THE WINDOW SILL MYSELF AFTER HE HAD REPAIRED AND PRIMED IT, AND BY USING THE KITCHEN DRAWER HARDWARE I ALREADY HAD INSTEAD OF REPLACING IT. THE PRICE EVEN WITH THESE SAVINGS SEEMED A BIT HIGH (BUT THEN, I'VE NEVER HIRED A HANDYMAN BEFORE, SO I'M NOT SURE). IT WOULD HAVE BEEN $335 BUT THERE WAS AN ANGIE'S LIST 5% DISCOUNT ON LABOR.

HAVING SEEN ON ANGIE'S LIST, AND LASKY'S WEB SITE THAT HE DID SMALL JOBS, I WAS SURPRISED WHEN HE FRANKLY TOLD ME HE DIDN'T DO THIS SORT OF THING ANY LONGER BECAUSE HE HAS GROWN INTO LARGER JOBS. IT'S GOOD HE'S DOING THAT WELL, BUT I WAS FURTHER SURPRISED TO SEE THAT HIS AD ON PAGE 41 OF ANGIE'S OCTOBER MAGAZINE HEADLINES "SMALL REPAIRS". I SPOKE WITH HIM IN EARLY SEPTEMBER, AFTER THE AD WENT TO PRESS? I HAVE TO ADMIT FRUSTRATION BASED ON GETTING MY HOPES UP BECAUSE OF THE VERY GOOD COMMENTS HE RECEIVED. HE GAVE ME THE NAME OF ANOTHER PERSON TO TRY, BUT WASN'T NECESSARILY RECOMMENDING HIM. BASED ON REVIEWS, I DON'T RULE HIM OUT FOR A FUTURE JOB.

HE CALLED BACK RIGHT AWAY AND SAID HE DIDN'T DO THAT KIND OF WORK ANYMORE. I ASKED HIM IF HE COULD RECOMMEND ANYONE AND HE SAID HE WOULD CALL ME BACK WHEN HE GOT THE NUMBER OFF HIS CELL PHONE. HE DID, AND I CALLED THE OTHER PERSON. HE WAS COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL AND I WILL CALL HIM FOR ANOTHER JOB.

THE WORK WAS DONE VERY EFFICIENTLY AND VERY WELL. JEFF AND HIS HELPER WERE VERY PLEASANT AND VERY CAREFUL TO BE SURE THE WORK WAS RIGHT. IN FACT, ONE DOOR DIDN'T CLOSE CORRECTLY AND JEFF CAME BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY (HIS SUGGESTION) TO INSTALL SOME EXTRA HARDWARE TO KEEP IT FLUSH. VERY EASY TO WORK WITH.

VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND UPFRONT. HE WAS ABLE TO SAY THAT HE COULD NOT DO ONE OF THE REPAIRS ON A DIVING BOARD BECAUSE HE FELT IT WAS OUT OF HIS AREA OF EXPERTISE. WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH.

VERY GOOD CRAFTSMANSHIP, HOWEVER NOT PUNCTUAL, DELAYED WORK FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME. VERY, VERY PRICEY.
