Description of Work: Francesco sheet-rocked the inside walls and ceiling of a closet. His work, punctuality and efficiency were second to none. You will be fortunate to be his client.

Description of Work: Fernando responded quickly to my call for an estimate. He repaired two holes in walls where old electric heaters had been removed, and replaced several oak stairway steps which were cracking. The work was performed quickly and was of high quality.

Description of Work: Quoted price for exterior carpentry but said he was too busy until November but he didn't call back in November.

Description of Work: Fernando Fonseca fixed my kitchen storm door which had been pulled off by the wind [after the postman put a package between the doors on a storm day], and he fixed a sliding closet door which had fallen off track years before. | |The kitchen storm door was hanging by little more than one hinge and the frame was seriously bent. I assumed the whole door would need replacing but because of how the storm door was connected to the main door, that would have required replacing both doors. | |Mr. Fonseca replaced and repaired the wood on the frame and reconnected the storm with longer screws. After puttying and painting, you couldn't tell it had been repaired, and the door closes as well as it always had. | |Our closet door had not been installed properly. It fall off track and split at the bottom during it's fall. I had none of the hardware that had kept the door functioning. Fernando used clamps to bolt and glue the door on the inside where it wouldn't be seen, and he found the exact hardware needed to rehang the door. | |Both doors are still in perfect shape after much use, a year later. |Fernando Fonseca is an honorable man who could have charged us much more than he did. In this throw-away world, I expected replacements while he suggested repairs. And the repairs have definitely held up over time, and his creativity, integrity and professionalism saved us LOTS of money. I would DEFINITELY hire FONSECA HOME IMPROVEMENT again.

Description of Work: Called Fonseca Home Improvement about repairing 7 windows in a newly-purchased condominium.

Description of Work: Mr. Fonseca scraped casement windows that had been painted closed. He could not repair because cranks had been broken and need to be replaced. He attempted to repair leaking kitchen single piece faucet. Improved but not completely repaired. He was polite, professional and comfortable to have in my home.

Description of Work: I am having my house painted, and the painters located about five outside wood trim boards and a cupola that were in need of repair due to weathering. Mr. Fonseca completed the work in a timely and professional manner. He is considerate and does excellent work. The painters looked at how Mr. Fonseca made the cuts in preparation for the installation of the new wood pieces, and noted that he took the time to do the job right, thus eliminating future moisture problems in the areas affected. Since it began raining extensively as Mr. Fonseca was finishing up the work, he said he would have to come back to seal the cupola when the wood would be dry. There is no doubt in my mind that he will indeed return and finish this small but most important part of the job, as he is an honest, excellent craftsman, who takes pride in his work.

Description of Work: Mr. Fernando Fonseca repaired cracks outside my foundation and a hole in my roof. He also lengthened my downspouts so that they were away from the foundation. In addition, Mr. Fonseca took down insulation in the basement ceiling and old rotting shelves/ walls. He also repaired a rotted joist in the basement and removed a huge piece of wood that had been attached to the basement wall. In addition, he put up some fire alarms. I may be forgetting something but I think that's it. Mr. Fonseca is such a find! His work is impeccable and he is extremely pleasant and easy to interact with.I also feel that his rates are extremely reasonable. I have had other "handymen" come to my house before, but from now on, I will always ask Mr. Fonseca to do all the work around my house!

Description of Work: Pleasant man, came to my home looked at the work to be done and we agreed upon a price. Work included renovating two bathrooms He said he had experience but I found his experience came at my expense. He arrived and left daily whenever he wanted, there was no set schedule and when asked he explained that he would get the work done "on time". I tried to help by removing daily debris . One day he cut through a water pipe and had to get a plumber,fast, to repair the damage. He appeared offended that I did not pay for the plumber but had him pay for his mistake.. On his final day, he arrived in the morning,left approximately after 2 hours work. I thought he was going for an early lunch, he arrived back around 4-5hours later. I asked him to explain his absence, he said he had to do something.When I told him this was not acceptable behavior from someone that I was employing for specific number of hours a week he became offensive and irate. He started packing up his belongings, I asked him if he could at least finish one shower so we would have a working shower, he said no and left. After his first week of work he asked to be paid, I offered to pay him $1000. and he asked the check be made for $999, stating something to do with having to pay taxes. On the day he walked off, I told him I would send him a check for the balance of his work but when I tallied all hours worked for 2 weeks, I found I actually overpaid him. I will not use him again or refer him to anyone. For simple projects he may do well but I think he believed he was able to do a project that was really beyond his scope,expertise and means.

Description of Work: He fixed around 5-6 things around the house that I've been dying to get to for years. He's very efficient and very good. His experience showed big time when he fixed our door. We'll be using him in the future for sure.
