We have been wanting to make these repairs to our home for a while. The only thing holding us back was the fear of hiring someone and not having the job done properly. We called Jeff and he came for a free quote the next day and a quote was sent the day after. We accepted the fair price for all the work to be done and agreed on a date. Jeff was great in accomodating us in re to scheduling. We were taking a week off from work to get this done and Jeff and his crew were there at 830am. The crew arrived on a Monday for demo and the repairs and finishing took place through to the following Monday. They even came on Saturday which was great news to us! The work he and his crew did was professional, experienced and fast. We could tell from the first day that they knew what they were doing. We had didn't crew members come in whether it was painting or installing trim. Kevin did a great job on the mudding, texturing and painting! The end result is a much more open living area and a bathroom that is now an en suite. I couldn't have asked for better and will definitely use them again (next year for hardwood floors!). I have already recommended him to our next door neighbor.

Mr. Windham came out in a timely manner. Meet with us, listened to our ideas, and offered suggestions based on his expertise. We agreed that he would take his measurements and our plans and return at a later date with an estimated cost of material, labor and time frame for the completion of the job. However, prior to his return our parent passed unexpectedly, and we decided that we would not install the shower at this time. We were impressed with Mr. Windham's professionalism and knowledge as a contractor. He appeared to be very experienced, and we feel that he would have given us an excellent product had we chosen to continue further.

After a call was made to Jeff, he promptly responded with a visit to determine the costs of repairs, and the exact plan to be implemented ( which would include materials).. Documents were provided and the services were scheduled for completion without any serious problems. Other services were needed after the floors were repaired. Jeff assisted us with making contact with a carpet expert who came and relaid the carpet. We are pleased with the work that was done.

The owner, Jeff Windham, gave me a price on the requested work which I accepted. I thought it was a little high but figured you get what you pay for. He had one of his men work on the porch roof and replace and paint the ceiling. The work appeared fine but when we got some rain it still leaked. He wound up coming back three times to stop the leak. Some repainting of the ceiling was done but he didn't return to do the final application so now there are water stains on the ceiling. In the kitchen the two white formica panels were replaced without the standard practice of using glue. Instead they were nailed up with finishing nails. Some of the nails were placed in the center areas of the panels. This was unsightly and I had to seal and overpaint these areas myself to hide the nail heads. The dish washer tile footing, using non-shiny dark gray tiles with a wooden surround on the edges, does not look very professional. The wooden surround was pretty rough looking with no sealer or paint applied. Just raw wood that was unevenly cut. I asked that it be stained and sealed for better appearance. This was done but the edge pieces are still uneven and do not look professional. At the time I was fairly okay with the work but as time goes on and I have to look at the tile footing area in my kitchen and the water stains on my porch roof I am less than happy with the work. Sadly I really do not feel that I got professional quality results.
Description of Work: Repaired leaking front porch roof. Replaced and painted porch ceiling. Replaced two 4x8 formica paneling pieces in my kitchen plus installed a tile "footing" for my move-around dish washer.

Member. I'm sorry that you now dislike the work. As you stated above, you told my man and myself that all work was fine at the time of completion.I would be glad to return at no charge to address your concerns. 1. We can apply stain blocker to the porch ceiling and paint ceiling again 2. Wall board you requested in your kitchen was glued and nailed. You was fine with the nails at the time of completion 3. I would be glad to replace the trim on the floor. you told me it was fine just apply some sealer to it. Once again I hate that you now dislike our work. Feel free to call me and we will gladly stand behind our work. Sincerely Jeff Windham- owner

WHY I CONTACTED THIS COMPANY: #1) I live 15 miles outside the city limits of Bossier City, I always look at the location of service providers I call to minimize problems or miscommunications. A) This company is listed at a location that is less than 25 miles away ( Angie's List says 18.6, but I believe it is actually a bit more); B) The filter shows them as being one of 3 companies that " Definitely Service My Area "; C) According to an Angie's List review, they have done work in my area ( within 5 miles?) which was rated excellent ("A") on 12/12/2011 ( just 4 months ago) which said, " He took my honey do list and went from one project to the next until he was finished. He did the work in 5 or 6 hours." Also, Jeff's website states " No Job Too Small". #2) I have a collection of fairly significant jobs needing to be done: a 20'x15' roofed and wire-enclosed addition to my garage; an 8'x8' or more well house including leveling and concrete flooring; an entry gate and fence; and some interior remodeling and finishing - which I would have thought would be substantial enough ( vs. say hanging a ceiling fan) to warrant the 25 miles. I was under the impression that most people in the building or remodeling trade expect a degree of commuting to work locations. #3) The nature of my projects are a bit more than ordinary "honey-do's", but smaller in scale than most contractors are interested in. The company's website shows a variety of projects in HOME REPAIRS and HOME REMODELING that seemed to be a close fit to the scope of my projects. #4) This company has a significant number of excellent reviews. Apparently, he does great work. Of course, that's very important! *** WHAT HAPPENED: I contacted Jeff Windham on April 12th or 13th ( Thur./Fri., I can't remember for sure which day) and outlined where I live and the info for the projects so he could tell me if he was interested and could we schedule a date/time for him to come look it over and give me a quote. He said he was pretty busy, but he'd contact me the next week about coming to review the projects/quote. We discussed Wed. or Thur. tentatively because I would be working Mon.-Wed. So, I waited to hear back from him. Friday ( April 20, a week later) I still had not heard anything from him and called him. I had to leave a message, but he called me right back. We discussed it again. He said he'd get with me the next week, but he was so booked it would probably be about 3 weeks until there was an opening in his schedule to begin work on. I told him, although I'd like to get this done, nothing was pressed for time to complete and I could be flexible on that. The next Monday ( April 23), Jeff called mid-morning to schedule an appointment for that same afternoon, but no later than 3pm. This was because he had to have time to review and discuss the projects and allow ample time to drive home before 5pm. He said based on his GPS, I was 45 minutes from his shop ( I guess his shop is not at the address shown on Angie's List because that is no more than 25 miles away - I used to live in that neighborhood and know personally). I don't really care, but that also seemed sort of odd to me that his hours of availability would be in conflict with how most people work. Maybe this was a special situation that I'm not aware of. He didn't seem very interested in doing so, but when I asked him about the next day he said he could meet me then, too. But either way, I work Mon.-Wed. so I asked him to please go ahead and just meet with me that day. So, on short notice I had to adjust my work schedule to be available for him - and, once again, he wanted me to remind him of what I was wanting a quote on. Less than an hour later, he called back to say he was going to pass on my jobs because it was beyond the area (geography) he wanted to work in. I have tried to make myself clear about the location and types of work. *** MY COMMENTS TO ANGIE'S LIST READERS: A) Jeff and his team of subs are apparently very busy, so be prepared to get in line. B) The info placed on Angie's List concerning BUSINESS DESCRIPTION: "I have my own subs so if I can't handle it I have someone who can." and the filter for SERVICE AREA does not seem accurate. C) Jeff was very polite every time we spoke, but communication seemed to be an issue. He seemed, for lack of a better explanation, "distracted" when I spoke to him. It would have been far more professional for him to simply decline me to begin with if the distance was a deal-breaker for him. D) He has great reviews and must do good work. Maybe so much so, he can be selective and needs to revise the information shown online. *** IN CONCLUSION ? I'm not angry, but somewhat frustrated in the way things happened. ? A week and a half later, I'm no farther along than when I began. ? I should have devoted a whole day to interviewing a variety of "interested" handymen/contractors and would have had at least one to choose from at this point. At this pace, I'll never get done. ? I'm not really inclined to using forums to complain, but this is the basis of Angie's List - sharing experiences. [ ? I'm not very impressed with my first experience with Angie's List, now either. I used the tools to the best of my ability, but the info was not accurate. I have also tried to locate Dentists in my area and the info was not much better than the Yellow Pages. This may not be a great service in my area even though I am 15 miles from Shreveport/Bossier City - respectively the 3rth & 8th largest cities in Louisiana. ]

Jeff Windham is the owner, this is the first time, we had any remodeling workman at our house, usually when we get into a project we have a bunch of head aches, but these people were professional, and efficient, and were funny to have in the house, they were fair on the pricing, They plastered and painted in the bedroom, and we did not get the bathroom retiled, but they repainted some cabinet, and painted the door frame, and put another layer of bricks on the front steps to make the height easier to get in and out of the house. It cost me about $3000 to get this job done. It was phenomenal, and most these people were all in the neighborhood, and they treated our house like their own, it was like having neighbors in, and it was just amazing, and the quality was great.

They arrived on time and worked hard the whole time they were here. The owner and his workers were very professional, completed everything I asked them to do, and did a superb job on everything. Their painting was better than I ever expected and I plan on using them again in the future for that. I thought the price for everything was very reasonable. I plan on using them, Handyman For Hire, Inc. again and would recommend them to anyone. His office number is 318-861-6097 and cell number is 318-422-0126.
Description of Work: They sanded and refinished the top of my coffee table that was faded and streaked and matched it perfectly, they fixed the ceiling in the garage that was cracked at a seam and hanging down a few inches, they put up a new light fixture outside my front door, they put up a ceiling fan in a bedroom, they fixed a cracked frame on one of my beds, they painted my shutters and front door, they put up crown molding in my front room and painted it, and they put up a new light dimmer light switch for my living room lights on the wall. Anything that needed to be moved in order to do the jobs, they did with no problem, and they put them back perfectly.

Jeff told me he was across town getting his crew set up to work. I told him I did not think he would come out just to fix a faucet. He said he did these small jobs while his crew did the larger ones. I told him to come at his convenience and as I said, he first explained his fee. When he arrived he set out immediately to fix leaky faucet. He asked me how I happened to call him and I told him because of Angie's list. He was very thorough and showed me why some parts would have to be replaced. He told me where he usually was able to find parts for older mobile homes and that it would take about an hour to come and go. He was gone only about 45 min. and set about immediately installing parts on his return. Left everything in clean and neat order, and the faucets worked smoothly for the first time in years! He gave me the bill and took measurements for remodeling bathroom. I am awaiting the estimate and planning to be able to use him to do this and possibly replacing windows.
Description of Work: I called Jeff for an estimate of remodeling a bath for my handicapped husband but told him not to come out until I first had a leaky tub faucet fixed. He told me he would do that but he wanted to discuss his fee and the fact that he may have to go for replacement parts since this was for a 20+ yr. old mobile home. I told him I knew his fee was $75 hr. He came about 3 hours later, started work on faucet. He did have to replace parts and at my request, took both stems to get necessary parts. He was back quicker than expected. Installed parts, cleaned up area, and gave me my bill, which I consider reasonable. He then discussed my remodeling job and is to give me an estimate. I definitely would recommend him because of his courteous and professional manner of doing business. I am looking forward to more possible business with him.

Description of Work: 11/2011: Handyman for Hire did not perform any work for me. I decided against hiring him after meeting with him. I found him on Angies List. I wanted a handyman, that is why I joined Angies List and I wanted to check it out and he was excellent. I think he had an advertisement that no job was too small and I knew this was going to be a rather small job. Over all he was an excellent. Price wise nobody can say it was too cheap. It was reasonable price. As for responsiveness it took a few days and it was a leaky roof. As for punctuality he was there in fact he had to go back twice. I would use this provider in the future. I was really pleased to get a very reliable person because of Angies List.

His name is Jeff Windham. I was really pleased with the work he did. He did a good job. The price was fair. He was able to complete it to my satisfaction and I would use them again. He charges $75 per hour. He took my honey do list and went from one project to the next until he was finished. He did the work in 5 or 6 hours. The work was good and I was happy with it. Because he is good and reliable, he has a waiting list. It took about 2 weeks to get with me. He calls right back when I call. He takes my calls right away and gets the information about the job and he tells me when he can come and do the work. He followed up and didn't let me slip through the cracks. Sure enough 2 weeks later he called and said he had an opening and came to do the work. The price was fair. He was here when he said he would be here. He was very courteous. I will definitely use him again and I would recommend him.

I did not go with them because I felt their estimate was very high. We were just looking to have a small job done and it was way too high for that work. They answered my call and came pretty promptly to give me the estimate. I can’t really complaint much about them. I probably would not call them because their prices are high and also their wait time is too long. I would consider them for a quote and look for other options.

I hate that we missed out on your job. I wish you the best on finding a licensed and insured contractor who uses quality materials on the holes in your wall and carport ceiling. I hope they use a quality T-111 plywood and exterior primer(1 coat) and Sherwin Williams A-100(2 coats) paint ($35.00 gal). also reattach fascia metal on the side of your house. Three trips total to your house. We never claimed to be the cheapest nor the highest in town. But as you mentioned we must be doing something right due to our wait time. I wish you and your family the best on your repairs. Oh by the way, you failed to mention how much did you pay for this repair?

I called Handyman for Hire on two different occasions to get some help mounting my flat panel TV. Twice I left voice messages, and twice my voice messages were not returned. It says a lot about a company when they don't care enough about the customer (or potential customer, in my case) to simply return a phone call. I'm not going to speculate as to why Handyman for Hire wasn't interested in doing the job for me, but I would like to think that a company would at least contact the potential customer if they are unable (or unwilling) to do the job. Fortunately, I found a few acquaintances to help me mount my TV for free, so it all worked out in the end, with or without Handyman for Hire.
Description of Work: Services requested but not performed: mounting a flat panel TV.
