Description of Work: I called them out several months ago to install a gas log insert unfortunately there was an issue with gas plumbing and they would have to rerun the line. I had to pay $150 for nothing and wait for an estimate. The estimate is over 400 for busting through the brick, over 400 for an access panel, and hourly rate for the plumbing so at least a $1000 most likely. The day they come out the guy starts trying to tell me all the reasons he can't do it, 1st the brick is solid(wrong!) he will have to bust 2 holes in the brick(so 2 holes, 2 panels) that'll be double...blah, blah, blah. Idk if he just didn't want to work that day or what but we told them we were going to get another opinion. 2 days later it's done without a single hole or panel for $500. I will never call Ace plumbing for anything.

Response from Ace Plumbing & Electric
In response to comments made by Mrs. [Member Name Removed]. The job charge was $134.00 to install a customer-supplied gas log set. Once the gas log set was installed, we tested the line and our technician smelled gas coming from the wall. He immediately shut off the gas and tried to find the leak. The leak was in the bricks behind the fireplace. A price was given at that point to cut a hole in the bricks, put in a new access panel, and repair the leak. The customer approved the price so the panel was ordered. After waiting for the panel to come in, we went out to do the job and found that our original plan to repair the leak would not work. Our option was to repair the existing metal pipe. Other materials could have been used to drop a new gas line down the wall, but those materials would not pass inspection. Therefore, we only price jobs to be done to code. We do apologize that other options weren’t available, but we plan to always provide the safest, most cost-effective plan for our customers. We would also like to apologize to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] that our first plan couldn’t be done, but it is not always possible to give a fool-proof plan if the pipes aren’t visible.

Description of Work: We needed a plumber on a Sunday to replace the flange under our toilet. Ace Plumbing came within in the hour and had it fixed quickly. They cleaned up after themselves and were very professional. The price was high but not unexpected, since it was on a Sunday morning. I was very impressed with their professionalism.

Response from Ace Plumbing & Electric
In regards to [Member Name Removed]'s posting. Ace Plumbing gave the customer (2) estimates to run a gas line for (2) fireplaces; (1) estimate was to run a gas line to an individual outside fireplace, the second was to run a gas line to (2) outside fireplaces. Before starting the job, the customer decided to do the work for (1) gas line. Once we started the job the customer wanted our technician to run the gas line to both fireplaces. At the end of the day, after our technician left the customers home with plans to return the next day to run the gas line to the second fireplace, the customer called and decided they only wanted (1) fireplace connected. Our technician accidentally cut an unmarked utility line while trenching. Our technician made the customer aware of the cut wire and left it exposed as the customer said they would make the repair themselves. Before the customer was able to complete the repair, rain washed dirt back in the hole so our technician returned and exposed the line again at no charge. Before starting the job the customer did sign a disclaimer saying: “Ace Plumbing will not be responsible for damage done to any underground piping or utilities on the owner’s property that are not located by owner. Examples of this would be an electric line or any other lines that are not marked out when we call Dottie. Final dress-up of the yard is not included. Ace Plumbing will backfill all trenches to the best of our ability and as neat as possible before we leave the job. Some sinking and settling of dirt may occur after heavy rains.” Our technician was unable to complete the proposed work of connecting the gas line because the customer supplied fireplace was missing parts. Our technician got with the customer and recommended contacting the manufacturer to obtain the missing parts. We never heard from the customer after that.

Called the top of Angie's list, but they were unable to send a technician out until tomorrow, so I called the 2nd place provider, who turned out to be great. They had me worked into the rotation within 90 minutes. The technician, Drew, ran a few different "snakes" into the toilet, cleared out the blockage, then cleaned the toilet and bathroom area of all the spillage. I told him that we have noticed that the toilet has been running for excessively long times after flushing, and after a quick look-see, Drew found a broken pump. I immediately thought he would have to leave and come back to replace the part, but since he drove the biggest plumbing truck I've ever seen, the part was just a quick walk away. He also checked the master bath lavatory since it has been slow to drain as well, and it looked like he pulled out Cousin It from the drain. Since I haven't owned this home a year yet, no telling what the previous owner had been cramming down the sink. Not only was the service prompt, clean, and professional, but Drew being personable also helped quite a bit. I have found the best Plumbers in Lafayette!

The service tech arrived approximately on schedule. He then diagnosed the problem as roots intruding into the drain line and ran a cutter through the line t clear the clog. He showed me the place in the line where the roots were getting in and described a repair that I could do to prevent a re-occurance.

Excellent! Very professional service from the receptionist through the plumber ending with a follow up call from the receptionist checking on the quality of the service. Not the cheapest plumbing service I've ever used, but certainly the most professional.

It was a pleasant experience. I was thinking the worst: How do you get off an old flange cap without damaging the existing plumbing and/or ceramic tile? When the two guys arrived I was surprised when they put on disposable red shoe covers; each time they went outside, they removed the covers and put them back on when entering; impressive. I showed them the problem and what I had done, they worked up an estimate and I accepted it. It seemed a bit pricey, but I could not do it and being without a toilet is not a pleasant alternative in a family setting. Overall, I was impressed by the entire job, from the receptionist to the plumbers.
